Grew up on the SW side of Chicago and this is the only pizza in NW IN that gets Chicago thin crust pizza right!

We moved to the Chesterton area a few months ago and finally tried Duneland Pizza. They have been voted the best pizza in Chesterton and Porter county. A title they completely deserve! This was the best we've had since moving to the area. Everyone in our family loved their classic thin crust. The kids always get plain cheese and Duneland's was a big hit. I appreciate that they offer vegan options. Had the vegan cheese w/ vegan sausage, spinach, onions and green peppers. The cheese and sausage were delicious and the pizza was loaded with spinach. It was so good! We will definitely be back... a lot. read more

My only complaint about this place is the hours! But I guess that's what makes people want to own their own business- so they can work when they want. They do not allow you to dine in 45 minutes prior to closing. Even with that I still give it 5 stars. I ordered a vegan pizza with veggies and hot giardiniera. It is definitely the best vegan pizza I've had in the area to date. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. The dining area and deck are cute. We were staying at the spring house inn with our two kids and pizza was the vote. Looked this little gem up on yelp and thought it was worth a try. For starters the employees were very friendly. When I picked it up everyone looked busy making pies for a cadre of orders. The train roaring by scared the heck out of me though. Pizza and salad was our order: bbq chicken with onion and also the meat lovers. Plus two side salads. Pizzas were light on sauce and heavy on cheese. Not my favorite way to go but it worked. We had just got into town after a long drive from northern Michigan. Hungry, we decided carryout pizza was the best option. After a quick Yelp search, we decided to give Duneland a try. We opted for the 3-Cheese & Spinach specialty pizza on original (thin) crust. It was hot & cheesy, everything our grumbling stomachs had longed for. That particular pizza has a garlic butter base, instead of tomato sauce. For a cheese pizza, it was very unique, and most importantly, delicious. We may have chosen to dine in, if they served alcohol. But for carryout pizza, two thumbs up. They also have wifi, if that's something you care about. read more

After going to see Spiderman:Far From Home at our local theater, we decided to go for pizza. This was our first time here. Looks like we caught them when they were open. They are closed M-Th and only open 4-830pm F-Sun. Looks like they have been open for many years but apparently not for many hours each week. We ordered an appetizer of garlic bread with mozz cheese then a thin crust pizza. I love crispy pizzas crust so let's see how they stack up. The crust of the pizza was very crispy. It was so thin that it didn't fill us up like pizza normally does. And the garlic bread was good. They don't give you marinara sauce with the garlic bread so if you get it with mozz cheese, you might want to ask for marinara sauce. They had a nice outdoor area to eat in. Only negative issue was the smell inside the restaurant's eating area. I don't know if something went bad or if it was musty but it smelt like bad milk. read more

My family went vegan over a year ago and miss the days of ordering pizza (some days mama doesn't want to cook!). Duneland just announced they will be offering vegan sausage and cheese. We ordered two pizzas- one veggie and one with sausage. They were amazing! The cheese was pretty close to the real thing and the sausage was freaky-close to the real thing! Hubby ordered thin crust and it was great - very crispy! Next time we'll try another style just to be crazy. For the most part, we do not order pizza out. We have 2 pizza stones at home and enjoy making pizza, but if we are going to pizza, we go to Duneland. I rather enjoy their meat pizzas, but usually, the wife likes vegetable pizzas with no meat, so I end up getting to eat that. Their Veggie pizza is good, but I think the vegetables kind of water it down - it tastes like it needs salt. It's nothing a good dose of hot sauce can't solve. I like that they have such a wide variety of crusts. The thin crust is nice, but it goes down too easily. I can put A LOT of that away. I'm not saying this is a detriment to the pizza, it's not, it's really good, but I eat way more than I should. I prefer the next level of crust up, sort of the "hand-tossed" variety or the kind of crusts you get at most pizza places, called THICK. I had the meat pizza one time, and that was about as good as a pizza gets. I've also had their Chicago-style pizza, which is good, and filling. However, again, it's more of the veggie-varietal so it didn't pack a punch like a meat one would. I totally recommend this place. They do have a sit down area, and even outdoor seating is nice when the weather gets warm. Also, check out the photography of the NW Indiana beaches while you're in here, it's really good, too. I recommend getting meat on your pizza. Unless, you know, your wife is vegetarian, because I guess then that makes YOU pretty much a vegetarian. read more

When I'm in Northwest Indiana, Duneland Pizza is kind of my go-to place. I mean not mine, it's more like the place my boyfriend always chooses for pizza, but I really like it too!! I've never actually dined in though; we always call in and carry out. Our pizza's always been ready and waiting within 20-30 minutes. Service is very friendly and efficient, and you really get a kind of personal, small business vibe. I think my favorite is the hamburger pizza, which I don't think you'd consider at first, but it's really good! The bbq chicken pizza's also delish. This was the blandest pizza I have ever tasted, and by the way there were three of us and we all thought the same. The sauce had no flavor, the thin crust was also quite blah tasting. What are we suppose to do upon eating a bland pizza, ask them to remake it with the same sauce and crust? So we ate it and when asked by the waitress the standard, meaningless question, "How was everything?", we gave her our honest reply to which she lamely smiled and walked away. Then, we paid for it at the register where the owner or mgr checked us out and asked same question. We told her it was tasteless. Not from around here and had a hard time finding a pizza place that fit our liking. We decided to give this one a try, and boy, was it a great choice! The town it's located in is very nice and fun to look around. We got to sit on the patio, which was very comfortable! Everything we needed was brought out right away (straws, menus). There is a variety on the menu but it is very easy to understand. And it's paper, so you can even take one with you. We even got some stickers that says I love duneland pizza (which, yes, I do). The staff is wonderful. Very friendly. They are attentive but don't sit and come every time you're trying to chew. The food was quick to come out, tasting amazing. Perfect dig into eating temp and amazing for the tastebuds! The smell is wonderful as well. The crust is wonderfully thin with a taste I never had before. For everything we got, it satisfied everyone, and the price was not expansive! They even gave the kids little gummy pizzas. Yes, I said gave :) They even sell dippin dots (of course that's always a plus). They're dessert menu looked good too, which is something I'll have to try another time.
