I ordered the Margherita pizza. I've had Margherita pizzas everywhere from here to Florence, Italy, so this comes from a place of appreciation, not criticism. The flavor was good, and the atmosphere made a strong first impression. That said, the crust was a little too hard for my taste, and the pizza was light on toppings. I'd still like to come back and try more of the menu, especially the meatballs and a few other dishes that looked excellent. I love the old time feel here. They have great oldies playing. What a nice atmosphere. The coal fired pizza was everything I was hoping for. Expertly made. They have a large variety of types to try. My daughter got a kids meal and it arrived in a classic car. Super cute. She enjoyed her meal and also ate some of the pizza. We shared a side house salad and I was surprised at the quality. Nice place with a bar, indoor window seating, booths and tables, or you can sit out on the patio. The service was friendly and attentive. We got a thin crust pepperoni pizza and a BYO calzone. The pizza was pretty good, but nothing compared to that calzone. Whatever you do, Lenny's, do not change the crust. It is soft like a homemade pretzel dipped in butter. I chose ham, mushrooms, and onions for mine. The ingredients were so good. Not that cheap ham you get some places, but it was like deli ham flavor and texture. Not sure what the lower reviews are all about here, we had a great experience. Now when it comes to pizza being called, "New Haven", it's close -- but it's not New Haven. The plain pizza had a much better leoparding to the bottom than the tomato pie did, but the there's not enough char on top, so the pizza has flop to it. The pizza is a lot more like a Neopolitan, especially because the pies are smaller here than typical New Haven pies. Flavors are great however, don't get me wrong. Just not New Haven. It's like calling yourself a "Philadelphia-style" cheesesteak place or something similar. The expectations are much different. We went on a week night and were totally impressed. The waitress was amazing taking our order with a few changes to the pizza as if it was the best pizza she was order she was putting in. First time experiencing Lenny's and it did not disappoint! We were seated right away. Waitress was prompt to take orders. Meatball appetizer was delicious. The cheese served with it was perfect! The Greek salad was different, it had no lettuce, but we still devoured it and honestly if you love Greek salads you'll love this one. We ordered the bbq chicken, meat lovers and Margherita pizzas. As clearly described in the name of the business, if you don't like "coal fired" pizza which includes a well charred thin crust you might want to try elsewhere. While not my kind of pie, it was well done for what it is and didn't disappoint. Dined in the more than roomy bar area where the service was both friendly and attentive; the recommendation to try the meatball appetizer was the highlight of the meal! Pizza is practically inedible. There is so much flower on the bottom of the crust, my mouth was drying out, and I couldn't taste the pizza. We love Lenny's and have eaten here several times since their opening a month ago. I love the extra thin crust that really lets the toppings steal the show. The pizzas are the perfect size to share with someone with some wings or a salad, or keep all to yourself. We've had the chicken pesto pizza, the white pizza, and the Lenny's pizza and all have been superb. The Nashville hot wings are dry rub and will definitely bring a tear to your eye, but oh so good! My favorite salad has been the beet salad. Personally we try to support local small business whenever we can. Lenny's is what you think of when someone says "family business" and we have seen several family members there every time, covering the hostess station, and in the kitchen making pizzas, but they are never too busy to welcome their guests. We also like the vibe of the restaurant - old school type of pizza place, comfortable and a lot of family memories decorate the walls.
