Solid pizza and great summer spot. Give this place a try if you want a new pizza. Sadly no delivery. The pizza is just as good when it's cold out, but seating is limited on the inside (very limited). Also, parking may be an issue since it's located just off of Lincolnway downtown. The proximity to the Urschel Pavillion/splash pad is why we tried it, and we were pleasantly surprised with great pizza. In the summer you can go out to the pavilion or the other outdoor seating next to the splash pad. This is one of the better pizzas in town with ingredients that taste fresh and crisp. Not a huge amount of beer options on the menu, but what they have is quality beer. I recommend the Joker if you want a little spicy heat, or any of the pizzas with goat cheese. This is a great/convenient place to get some pizza for you and the family if you're in downtown Valpo. read more

We are from south Texas. First time at this pizza place. We just happens upon it due to the wonderful smell.. We followed our noses! Brought us here where we orders a sausage pizza and a gluten free crust veggie marinara. Both were fantastic! They are made is a small shop in a small wood burning stone oven. This place is a must try!!! The people were very nice and very polite. Refreshing!! Speaking of refreshing.. Our drinks were the ginger peach hard cider and WBC vanilla cream craft soda in a bottle. Both were very good. Went well with the pizzas. There is a great outside eating space too! All in all it was a great experience. We would come back if we lived closer. read more

Rolling Stone has to be one of my favorite pizza places in Valpo. They have a lot of different fun pizzas, but I'm a slightly picky eater. The past couple times I've been in the employees have been a bit rude when I ask for my pizza without something on it. Delicious and very unique tastes! They had ingredients that would not expect to see on a pizza. Slightly eclectic but the flavors are where it's at. We are visiting family and decided to try the Rolling Stonebaker. We ordered the arugula and prosciutto salad and it was awesome! So good! We also ordered two pizzas. The margarita and the joker. Went here during my vacation this place is great. Had the "Sticky Fingers" pizza, stuffed dates and crab cakes. Everything was fresh and tasted very good. The crab cakes were the best I've tasted so far, the dates were like a delectable dessert. Would reccomend this place it is definitely worth the drive if you are in Indiana. read more

My son and I have eaten there twice in the past couple months and we both love it. Not a fan of the pice point but the food is amazing. The price isn't too high, perhaps knocking the pizza price down 80 cents or a $1 would make it more appealing. The Jalapeno poppers are TERRIFIC! Coupled together with the dipping sauce that is sweet and spicy is awesome. Also, they're wrapped in bacon. Who doesn't like bacon? Ok....first experience here. Had very high expectations prior. Got carry out. Ordered the dates, meatballs & jalapeño poppers to start. The dates were for my wife. She said they were "good." I'm no date fan. I passed. The meatballs were good and the poppers were flippin really good! Not breaded poppers. Very good. Got 4 pizzas. The purple pig, margherita, cheese and pepperoni/sausage. Brick oven baked Thin crust was very nice with some burnt which I like. The purple pig was good. Margherita was very good. Cheese for the kids which is as good as just plain cheese gets. Kids liked it. Pepperoni/sausage was good as well. Red sauce on pizzas have a slight kick to it. Service was good and friendly. Prices were just in the medium level. $8-$10 for each pizza. They're a little small. More like individual pizzas. Our bill was $64 for 3 appetizers and 4 pizzas. Again, pizzas are considered "individual." Popppers were $9 but they were really good. Price is high in reality on these. Maybe charge $6 not $9. Serving of 6 in each order. read more

Excellent pizza! The Purple Pig has red cabbage and pulled pork on it with a balsamic drizzle...delicious. The pizzas are cooked in a wood-fired oven on premises, so you can literally watch them make and bake your pizza. The goat cheese-stuffed dates were excellent, and they do have carry-out beer and wine. Additional outdoor seating is available, so it's a great location for a casual dinner. read more

Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's pretty expensive for personal pizzas. Anyway they're fantastic! We've tried 4 different pizzas and we've always been impressed. Not a great place to eat in during winter though. I think there are only 4 tables. There is a bar/shelf along the back wall with stools, but when we sat there I felt like I was in the way of the people sitting at the table right behind of me. Today we went to the Rolling Stonebaker after church for some YUM!! I love this place. And the fact that it is open on Sunday in Valpo is a winner. We enjoyed chatting with other diners and ordered all starters this time. The MEATBALLS were a delicious generous portion in fresh tasting warm marinara sauce with arugula atop!! Along side we had the Stone Bites; warm from the wood oven the dough bites were sensational. We also had the Jalapeño Pops wrapped in Bacon with Cream Cheese oozing. These were my husbands favorite. Lastly we tried the Tomatillos which were superb with picketed jalapeño relish. The cocktails are delicious with fresh herbs and at half price on Sunday this is the best spot to hang out! read more

I hate to give this place a one star because the pizza is great however my family had a horrible experience with the service. My parents live in the area so we decided to go try this restaurant when we got in it was quite crowded and we had a large party. While we were waiting in line the store manager bumped into my wife trying to get to the table behind her, she apologized and he responded in a very rude tone "just let me bus the table" he then pushed past her and we promptly left. I went in and asked if I could have it without the slaw but the employee said "no, it's a signature pizza and you can't customize it". Okay, so I proceed to see him put it on someone else's pizza at the END of the process... it's not really making it a signature it it's an after thought but whatever. I decided to go with the pepperoni pizza. The cheese was great on the pizza but it was burnt. Yes, I understand there should be a char but I mean it was BURNT. Some say L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele (Da Michele; the pizzeria that Julia Roberts eats at in the movie "Eat, Pray, Love") in Naples, Italy, serves the best pizza in the world. I beg to differ. I stood in line for 2 hours, at 3:00pm on a weekday to get into Da Michele's in 2015. Yes, the pizza is about as good as it gets there. However, IMHO, Da Michel's now has a rival in our very own Rolling Stonebaker pizzeria here in little old Valparaiso, Indiana. My wife and I ate here for lunch on Wednesday. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the place is simple, functional and attractive (always nice to see old building brought back to life) and Valparaiso is a very enjoyable and fascinating old town. Well worth a detour. The pizza is outstanding, simple Italian style thin crust pizza topped with local ingredients and baked in a real hardwood fired brick oven. Quite simply the best pizza I have ever had; sorry Da Michele, you have been beaten! To make things even better, unlike the Rolling Stonebaker mobile Studebaker red pizza trucks, the bricks and mortar restaurant sells craft beer and a nice selection of wine. Final note; the bricks and mortar restaurant only had its formal opening this week. So, expect a few SNAFU's whilst they get the kinks ironed out; be patient. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places that make me happy and appreciate life. Gourmet personal pizzas is a great addition to Valpo. Small and intimate setting, great for hipsters, and casual date night, especially with the fun cocktails and craft beer menu. Brought the kiddos, and everyone was accommodating, but tables are designed for two. The kids give a thumbs up for the brick oven style pizza. Amazing pizza, I have gone here several times every month or so and there is always something new there to surprise me. Most recently I've leaned about an item they sell called Stoner Bites. They are little balls of dough that are cooked perfectly with a slight crunch on the outside and a chewy inside that are covered in butter, garlic, and cheese. They are probably not really healthy but they sure are addictive. My favorite pizza from them is probably there simple Margherita pizza. I've been eating there pizza since they first opened their food truck and it's still just as good at the brick and mortar location. Also remember the pizza is burnt it's just the way the crust is and it's still delicious. read more
