I don't know about the food. I don't know about the drinks. All I know is the service, or lack thereof. There are no signs anywhere, so we sat ourselves. The only employee we saw in the almost empty restaurant was the bartender who didn't even say hello, even after making eye contact. Place has a ton of TVs! If you're looking for somewhere to watch a game or a fight, this is a pretty good choice. They do charge a cover on big fights so call ahead--fairly easy to get a drink, a lot of times waitress will help you out so that's a plus. Food is pretty good too. I've have their wings and onion wings which are heavily battered (I like that..I'm a fatty). They also have these pretty interesting deep-fried deviled eggs. Picture an entire hard boiled egg, breaded, and deep fried and that what it looks like! They have a cool back room area with another bar and some activities like corn hole and darts. My husband and I went on a last minute date night and decided to try something new. We had a blast. The drinks and food at the bar were amazing. I come here with my friends ALL THE TIME. This is our go to place. Anything on their menu is great and the bartenders/waitresses have great personalities. BUT, one bad experience can change your perception for a while. Long story short, my waitress lost my card as I was checking out. She told me that she was going to look for it. 20-30 minutes go by and I completely forgot that they were looking for it and left (my bad), but I remembered as I was driving back home and called the manager. I was explaining the situation and his response was that I was going to have to go back and look for it. The phone number on yelp I guess is the manager's work number and not the direct landline (PS I tried to call numerous times to confirm they were open for the World Cup and NOBODY ANSWERS which is a little aggravating). So I drive back and find out that they kinda gave up on looking for it. I gave them my phone number and told them to call me if it comes up. I had to cancel my card that night (gave myself a deadline if they couldn't find it). So the next day, my friends and I went back and sure enough at the bar, I see my card on the side behind the bar. No phone call from them. Will I go back again? Probably (for my friends) but needless to say, I was upset with my card getting lost, the lack of communication, and the managers response for me to handle it myself instead of him trying to call the bar and help me. Took a friend from out of town here with the lure of an Australian bar. It is a spacious bar with some large screens, but nothing Australian about it. Can't believe they charge $7.50 for Stone IPA! Service was slow. Only 1 waitress for the whole seating area. No other help or drink orders. Waited forever for the final check and between drinks. Had the $2 Taco Tuesday special. Barbacoa was not good, but the chicken fajitas hit the spot with Tecata's that also cost $2. Much better price! Power did go out while we were there, but didn't really care since it was just baseball. read more

I am an Australian living in San Antonio and was looking forward to checking this place out. Underwhelming and not Australian is how I I would describe this place. The menu is not Australian in the few items they have that they try to sell as Australian are mediocre at best. There's no Australian beer for sale at all, it is just a typical American sports bar. The service was OK, no complaints there. However, to try and say that this is an Australian pub it's far from it. I would not recommend anyone else drive the distance to go and check it out. Maybe it was an off night?! I meet up with some friends for dinner and drinks. The place was EMPTY got here around 7:30 and left at 9:30 there were only like 4 other tables occupied that whole time. Waitress service was SLOW and they were out of several food items. I'm not a huge drinker but ordered 2 different drinks during my 2 hour stay, the first was AWFUL so I switched to whiskey on the rocks. I was in San Antonio for a conference during the World Cup and knew I needed to find a place where I could watch one of the games. I found an online article that suggested The Roo Pub so I went. The decor was hilarious and had my coworkers and I snap chatting for days. Unfortunately there was only 1 bartender/waitress for the entire Pub. Now you may not know soccer but this place had at the minimum 50 people. She did her best but my beers took a while to arrived. I ordered the Emu Eggs thinking they were described interestingly. They're pretty much an entire hard boiled deviled egg that's been deeper fried. It was really too much batter and egg for my liking. I also had the Wedge salad that was drowning in ranch. Went here last night to watch the Astros vs Red Sox game! The atmosphere was amazing, great people and drinks were not way over priced like you would think! The food was delicious had a cheeseburger with chili and cheese on it. Though a little over done after asking how I like it the flavor was still there. Hi Chip, I just wanted to pass along some feedback regarding the Roo Pub as after reading a mysa.com article, I believe you are the bar owner. Every Wednesday night for the last 3 months or so, Alamo City Cornhole has held a tournament at Roo Pub, where approximately 25-30 people attend, buy food and drinks, and have a great time. What I have consistently witnessed in my visits to the Roo Pub is an empty front bar with very few or no patrons; however, 2 bartenders and waitstaff on hand doing nothing, while the back bar does not have a bartender on hand and just 1 waitress servicing 30 people. Not quite comprehending how that would make good business sense and it sounds like a poor management decision on where to strategically place bartenders/waitstaff. The manager, I think his name is Eloy, is rude and lacks the hospitality skillset that a manager in the service industry should have. He does not seem to value the business that we're bringing to the bar each week. He's constantly turning down the lights in the back of the bar as we're hosting our tournament. We have received several complaints from those on the team. I appreciate your attention to this matter. read more

No safety protocols, no enforcement! Went with my wife to enjoy the game and a meal. Noticed several people not even wearing a mask (who weren't dining), staff not wearing masks properly, nor any enforcement by the staff of people walking around the establishment without masks. Finally, at my wits end, I remind a couple of ladies walking by our table without a mask to put their masks on. A few minutes, later a gentleman that was with the ladies, walks behind our table without a mask and intentionally coughs and pretend to sneeze at our direction (close to our food and drinks) in route to the restroom. We ask for the management. The gentleman comes out of the restroom and confronts me. I will not be intimidated by anyone that is threatening the health and safety of my family and stand to protect myself. When the manager finally comes, Instead of kicking people out, offers me a complimentary drink for my troubles. Would not recommend this place. I will not be visiting this establishment ever again. If there is a hotline or enforcement agency that would like to visit his establishment, please do because they are putting people in danger. read more

Came here a couple times and it seemed ok. However the last time I came, I brought a date. The service was horrible the bartender was more than rude and so standoffish that it was evident to my date. In addition to the fact that she was being racially discriminated against by more than one of the customers bc she is a woman of color I have never been treated so rudely and inconsiderate. I asked for water for my dog which took 30 minutes to get. I also ordered food and didn't get any napkins for fried food! Aside from the fact there is nothing vegetarian besides the spinach rolls which conveniently were out of the one thing I did order was calamari and it was over cooked and served with not enough sauce for the size of the dish and I wasn't about to deal with the worst service I've had in years. The atmosphere is really unique and clean. I love the game room. A great place to have drinks with friends, play pool or throw some darts. Eat before you come, because the food is awful at best. Cool place to watch sports and play games. Really cool and unique burger options. I got the Mac n cheese (deep fried) chicken sandwich and my fiancé got the Krispy creme burger. Both were fantastic. We were there last week for my husband's work. The food and drinks were good. But, when we got home, I was checking my account online and noticed I had been double charged. I watched it a few days, because I know that sometimes that happens when the server does the tip adjustment. But, the second charge never fell off. I called 3 times to talk with a manager to see if he could refund the second charge. I spoke with Jennifer, Annie, and Garrett. Each time, they told me I would receive a call back from a manager, but never go one. I tried one last time and spoke with Daniel. He handed me off to a manager, finally. He never told me his name, but from Daniel handing the phone off to him, I gathered his name was DJ, or something like that. DJ proceeded to tell me that since I wasn't a current or recurring customer, there was nothing he could do. I worked in the service industry for 4 years. I know there IS something he could do, he just refused to do it. Now, I have to go through my bank to dispute the charge. It's such a pain. We go to San Antonio frequently for my husband's job. We'll never do business with The Roo Pub again. read more

I used to be a regular. Lately the food and service has been awful. My burger was raw and instead of cooking a new one, they pulled the patty out and grilled it longer. Thats disgusting to pull my food apart and then cook again. Silverware was dirty and the bartender sits with her boyfriend at the bar instead of checking on tables to see if they need anything. When you first enter the bar, it looks like a B Dubs if you walk to the back, it looks like little Woodrow's with all the games (corn hole, darts and pool tables.) Great parking with outdoor seating.
