This place is just okay. I've been here 3 or 4 times and each time I am underwhelmed by the menu and have never had a meal that I loved and wanted to order again. Plus, the main dining area up front is extremely loud to the point where it's difficult to have a conversation. The location and rooftop are nice, and the service is excellent, so I can't knock it too hard, but I doubt I'll be back anytime soon. read more

I came here for lunch today . Atmosphere was nice right in the middle of Main Street . Service was good , attentive but food came out Luke warm . Ordered garlic Parmesan fries which should have been a delicacy and tacos , both were not hot . Coffee came out cold and asked for new pot to be brewed but was brought a microwaved cup instead . I know when it's fresh brew but it was only heated . Tasted stale . Not sure if this restaurant is getting sloppy or counting on their location for excellence but wasn't impressed. 5:30 PM Monday April 11,2022. We have enjoyed this restaurant for several years. Usually have a few drinks and Appetizers prior to dinner hour and sit outside on a nice day. Talked to the hostess, there were numerous outdoor tables available , probably 15 + open' very few occupied, restaurant devoid of dinners . Asked for a table outside and was told that the tables were reserved for only dinner customers ( so many not occupied) Its 5:30 and no one is there! This was the 2nd time in a month that this happened. Not sure what the deal is here or why they are happy turning easy money away, we would have been there @ hour and spent at least $100.00 on drinks etc... Recommendation - get reservations or avoid this one .. So many great choices in Greenville, better apps and drinks in other places ! That is why we are going elsewhere ... read more

The selection of food and beer is extensive. For beer, I had an extensive choice of IPAs to drink which are always my favorite. The food was also really nice in that there is a mix of meat and vegetarian options. For appetizers we had the fried cauliflower which was spicy and savory. For my meal I had red quinoa with chicken and butternut squash. It was yummy! My friend had the pork tacos with mint. They were really good but I would've preferred them to be in corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. Regardless, they were delish too. It was fairly easy to get a table in the bar at 5:30 on Friday. I could see that it filled in behind us tho as people were standing and waiting for our seats. read more

I have to update because this place is just so inconsistent. Since my last review my wife and I have been to the roost 2 times. Once a few months ago (where we received very inconsistent service and quality food) and another time yesterday. It's such a disappointment. The rocks margarita changed from a reasonably well balanced marg to lazily shaken vertically once (not for 10-15 seconds as you should shake a cocktail) that tastes overwhelmingly of lime juice and simple syrup. Here's a tip, look up Jeffrey Morgenthaler's Bar Book, buy it, and just use his recipe for a margarita. Scale it down to suit happy hour prices (4-6 bucks) and you are golden. If you make a terrible margarita at 4 dollars, then you should charge 5-6 dollars and make it right. Thankfully my bartender remade my drink when I told him it was gross and undrinkable. He made me another one which was only slightly better. they are trying too hard to fill the drink to make it look "big" to guests. This is just bad technique and bad planning. Get a good recipe and follow it. The shishitos were yellow, not blistered hardly at all from the pan, and oversalted to all heck. I still enjoyed them a little because shishitos are shishitos, but you can do better than that. If they are all that gross and lame looking, send them back to the supplier. Have some standards. I had a hobo. I've had this before here. It used to be in a copper mule mug. No longer, now it's in the same lazy double old fashioned glass. Meh, not too big a deal, just disappointing. The drink was just sweet and could hardly taste the booze. Another case of "let's fill the glass to the top at the expense of balancing the drink properly to the recipe". Disgusting. I don't care if it's to the top of the glass. Is it a good drink or not? Nope it's not. It has the potential, but done up like this it's drowning out the complexity that the recipe commands with sweet and sour. Gross. This restaurant's management needs to step it up. I am always amazed at places that are in a golden location, that have talented people, that are all underutilized and not having their feet held to the fire by management to ooze excellence. Very disappointing. The owners of the roost are also the owners of Hefe's, and Hefe's gave me some disappointing experiences right before I stopped going there too. Maybe the owners are just restaurant venture capitalists with no real passion to excel in food and drinks? I dunno, but that's the way it comes across. read more

It was really just ok. The steak was fine, but under seasoned and even lacking salt, which was disappointing because I thought it would be marinated. In general, the steak was also lacking garlic, which was odd because it was served with parmesan garlic fries, but those only had a few big flakes of parmesan and were very much lacking in garlic. The chips and queso was good but fairly standard. It's ok, but I don't know if it's worth the price and I'd personally choose to eat somewhere else. read more

My daughter, son-in law, spouse, and grandson went in on a recommendation. I had the Mahe Mahe torta that was actually tons of mayo and two match box sized slivers of fish swimming in the mayo on chiabott. Our bill came to an over priced amount. At the time to pay, the charge screen only had 20%, 27%, and 30% for tips. Clearly there was only price gouging in mind. The worst was that we purchased a pitcher of sangria for $28 filled with mostly ice that filled four thin wine glasses. Just after filling my glass, I set my glass on the table with too much pressure, my thumb went through the glass, and it exploded! I got glass, sangria everywhere! My shirt, pants, half the table, and all over under our table was soaking with sangria. Did anyone from the restaurant come and clean? Did a manager or owner check if I cut myself? Surprisingly no. After what seemed ten minutes, and after cleaning what I could, I left the table to the bathroom. When I came back, someone from the restaurant was cleaning and offered another glass of what turned out to be mostly watered down fruit juice. They did say, the glasses were too thin and they break all the time. There was also a kid's fish with red pepper flaked served to my 1 year old grandsonthat had to be sent back. I was so embarrassed with my family and all of the patrons. No manager or owner talked to us. The poor waitress Elizabeth was not supported either. You could tell she did the best she could. I highly recommend not going there, unless you have money to burn and are weak to the touch of thin glass. read more

We had a terrible experience here and will never, ever return. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and the second my dad put his glass down on the table, it shattered and shards of glass and liquid went everywhere. It took a good 10 minutes for anyone to come by, and when they did, we received a very nonchalant "our glasses are super thin, this happens all the time". Never did a manager/owner come by to apologize or make sure we were OK (which, my dad was not because he cut himself), and we had to ask for a new glass since there was a significant amount of sangria that had spilled. The sangria they then brought us tasted purely of juice. The nightmare of a dinner proceeded to the entrees where the children's shrimp bowl came with cold, uncooked vegetables and shrimp caked in red pepper flakes (my 14 month old cannot yet eat spicy food - I was quite shocked that a children's meal is that spicy??) When we asked just for steamed, flavorless shrimp, we were informed that it comes that way and they couldn't remove the spiciness. The rest of the food tasted like microwavable meals and everything was extremely overpriced. What could have been a beautiful family dinner was tarnished by a restaurant who seemed to prioritize thin glasses and ambiance over customer service and food quality read more

We walked in and we're directed to the bar to eat. Generally that doesn't bother me but there were a few people at the bar who were obviously intoxicated and loud. If I wanted that I'd go to pumphouse. Food was below average and nowhere near worth the price (although the Chicharoni appetizer and the chocolate chip cookie were to die for). The short ribs were dry and the pork burger was dry and bland. The service was less than stellar. We ordered a blood orange creme brulee and were given a black berry lime one instead. When we told her it was wrong she said "oh sorry the kitchen didn't tell us they changed them.". REALLY. One of the worst food and service experiences in my life. PS it was replaced with the vanilla one. It was separated and I was still charged. My wife was displeased and she's a self proclaimed fatty. We are a local business also. Placed a pick up order on Wednesday Jan. 16th (which we do probably every other month) We had 5 SEPARATE orders (also normal for us) when taking the order the person took all names to clarify boxes. When we picked up the order several of the orders were in one box(family style?) The brussel sprouts were absolutely under-cooked with no sauce. The cauliflower had no sauce. We tried to call all afternoon to resolve this issue and the phone went straight to busy...never an answer, we also emailed and as of today have no response. The wife and I had dinner at The Roost last night. I ordered the Buckener Lamb Ragu It's a pasta dish described as having lamb bacon and mushrooms. If there was lamb or bacon in the dish I couldn't find it. It was pasta with mushrooms and marinara sauce for $21. Could have made it at home for a few dollars. My wife ordered the salmon rare. Stopped in for a quick lunch today. They were really quick which we appreciated given our time constraint. The food was great! I loved the marinated tomatoes on my ranch salad and the polenta bites were perfectly crunchy and light. My only suggestion would be a little salt after they come out of the fryer as the taste was a bit flat without the sauce. I love that the check comes in a book! Here's the thing with The Roost... the service is never consistent. Never. Sometimes you get, Jared (Bartender in the Back Bar), who is great! He makes very good cocktails, is efficient and treats you well! However, we have also had a wide range of service experiences: SLOW Service. Servers who are not very knowledgeable. A Server who asked us to pay our bill because he was leaving, BEFORE we got our food. A Server who said "It's Whiskey, so its gonna taste like whiskey, what do you want me to tell you?!" When we asked about a Whiskey we had never tried, but were interested in ordering. Obviously, after that... we chose to visit another place for our next round of drinks. I live close to this restaurant and my friend and I are big fans of this place for Happy Hour and for BOGO Whisky Wednesdays. We tend to sit in the Back Bar Area or on the Rooftop Patio (when it is warm), I tend to order the same things and I am USUALLY happy with them, but again, its never consistent. I order the Brussels Sprouts one visit and they are drowning in sauce, then the next they are perfect, then the next they so hard I can not eat them (and it is that way with the majority of things I order)... I can never give this place 5 stars, because one visit will be fantastic and the next will be terrible. Wish it was always good! read more

It has potential, it really does. Great space, creative menu (which becomes a little "meh" in execution), and service could be better. I had the steak frites. Steak was slightly overdone and honestly, didn't taste that fresh. I felt that it was drenched in sauce to mask it. I don't love the idea of steak frites being presented as a "loaded fries" type of dish. It's hard to cut steak on top of a pile of fries, and the fries underneath got soggy with an impressive quickness. I had a different idea in mind and was honestly a little disappointed. The fries were pretty good. That whole parm-fries with steak and garlicky sauce all sounds very good. Also, after reading a couple of other reviews, seems like freshness is a recurring theme. There really is so much potential. The cooking could also be a little tighter. I don't like feeling like I could've made the dish better at home. Service was alright but could be a bit better. Getting ignored when I first sat down - the server checked in with every table, noticed me, and walked away. There was another server nearby that took my order for me, and was courteous. Later, the food runner dropped my order on the table and jolted before I even had the chance to make eye contact. After that rough start, everything else was fine. I just make sure to say "please" and "thank you". I was in the biz for a long time and the restaurant was not that busy to have received, at times, curt service. It did soften up at the end, and I don't know if it's because I remained polite and/or time for the bill was coming up. I always tip at least 20% because hourly wages are crap. Honestly, as a woman of color that moved here just over a year ago, I hate feeling that I'm getting ignored on purpose, or that I have to make sure that my English is clear, precise, and polite. With the restaurant having such a nice setup and promising menu, this kind of service was one I hoped to avoid. I'll give you another shot, in like six months or something. I hope you take similar reviews into consideration because I wanted to like you. It would be nice to have a place like The Roost work in Longmont, instead of always driving to Boulder or Denver. read more

Our first visit here...great atmosphere if a bit echo-y due to the industrial feel inside - all hard surfaces. Our waitress was great! On the ball, knowledgeable about the menu, and very personable. My husband ordered the Sourdough Burger and Mushroom Fries, the kids ordered the usual kids' meals (included fruit, fries and a drink), and I ordered the California Burger with Buffalo Fries. The kids' meals were a bit smaller than elsewhere, and even at $5, was overpriced for the amount of food. While the burgers had food flavor, they were literally dripping grease. I'm glad they use locally sourced ingredients, but with a menu limited to sandwiches and salads, it's more of a place to come and drink, not eat. read more

Wow. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. As a vegetarian, finding flavorful food can be hard. However, The Roost did not disappoint! We got the polenta bites, roasted burrata, lettuce wraps with roasted squash, and the banging cauliflower. All the apps were around $9 and were BURSTING with flavor. The food came out fast and the wait staff (specifically Hannah, hey girl) were great. Can't say enough good things about this place, if you are in the downtown Longmont area you MUST check this place out...you won't regret it! read more

The Roost is one of my favourite restaurants and we go quite frequently. They have a great range of food and drinks of a high quality, including vegan options. I love their garlic parm fries with rooster sauce. Book if you want to go early evening but there are usually tables after 7. My only issue is with how loud and echoey the place can get at busy times, hence going later in the evening. read more

One of my favorite places to go for happy hour, the bar staff is always attentive and willing to accommodate my drink orders the way I like them. The HH prices for snacks are great deal and delicious I wish they would switch them up a little so I could try more on there menu. I saw there were some add ons to the menu and I can't wait to try. I know jefes is owned by same people but it's total opposite in price point, food quality and staff attitude and attentiveness witch is odd to me. Drove by a week ago and was thrilled to see a new restaurant/bar opening in Longmont! My friends and I like to go out several times a week for drinks and dinner so was very excited to try this out tonight! A. Great atmosphere, HUGE place with a restaurant side and bar side as well as a roof top patio! Cannot wait to try that out once it's open! B. Food menu immediately got my attention! Tons of delicious- sounding portions and a wide variety of types of food. We had the queso appetizer and it was delicious! For my meal I ordered the beef tacos and they were also delicious! Cannot describe! :) C. Sangria pitcher was good, enough for 3 people to share. D. We ordered 2 desserts to share. Crum brûlée and the Sundae. Also both amazing! One of the owners, don't remember his name but has a mean beard, came over and talked with us and was very friendly and down to earth. Any restaurant owner who comes out and talks to the guests is a winner in my books. Also great prices! We spent only 75$ between three people and we had all the bells and whistles! *** I was told there is live music Friday and Saturday nights which I am super looking forward to. Let me start with the positive.. The food and drinks are outstanding. The atmosphere is very inviting, the decor is very stylish. The waitstaff is attentive. Now for the negative..We decided to go for a late lunch Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not busy and we sat immediately upon entering. We ordered a short rib sandwich with a side of clam chowder and it took almost 35 mins for those two items (which are prepped ahead of time) to be delivered. The most frustrating part about this was that we could see what must have been the entire kitchen staff going in and out for a smoke break.. Another complaint, the employee smoking section should not be right next to the patio where people are trying to eat. read more

We arrived around 4:30, and they weren't very busy at the time. Even so, it took about 15 minutes for them to bring our drink order. No big deal, we weren't really in a rush at that point. I had the Smoky Paloma and my husband had the Craft Sazerac, both of which were pretty good. We ordered the Steak Frites medium, but it came out about medium rare. I know it can be tough to cook steak, so I won't hold it against them, but the the sauce was overpowering and drowned out the flavor of the steak. That's great if you don't like steak, but that's why I ordered mine. We also had the short rib tacos. The meat tasted great, but it was about 75% cabbage topped with meat, so eh. Not great either. I could have ignored all of these things, however, if the service had been better. After our entrees were dropped off our waiter disappeared for 30 minutes. We saw him in the corner chatting with a coworker most of that time, but could never manage to catch his attention. We would have loved to order another drink, but he just never showed up. After waiting that long we were able to flag another waitress who was able to run our card for us. Our original waiter brought back the card, told us he got busy, and said "don't tip me!" Well, alright then (they were not busy). It seems like there are a lot of great reviews, so maybe we just got a bad waiter, but it was enough for us to not consider returning. read more

This is a 3.5 star review, but I prefer to round up vs. down. Sometimes you're just having a so so day. This restaurant is about being cool. Cool is good! But...cool is tough to do. I think it's doubly difficult to do in Longmont because the town itself is in a transition right now from old school Republican agriculture, hot rods and High school sports to bright blue progressive, high tech, advanced manufacturing 21st century hot spot. This restaurant definitely fits into the future vs. the past. But the transition the town itself is in will cause some very mixed reviews from different people getting the exact same thing. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is great. The service needs a little work. The staff here has attitude. Like trying to be cool, this can be good, or bad. If you like cool, you'll like this place. If you're old school Longmont, you're going to think it's got a "snotty kids" problem. read more

VERY inconsistent service (ranging from good to awful), average food and cocktails, but a nice deck and bar ambience. When this opened in Longmont, I was really excited- nice building, great deck, fresh, seasonal cuisine. Unfortunately the food and service do not live up to the building. Despite the fact that it is regularly busy, the food and cocktails are meh. By far, the best things to order is the house made burrata. The Moscow mules are really sweet (not a lot of ginger flavor). My husband felt like the beer selection was good. The bartender (former bartender at Urban Thai) delivers great service everywhere. The rest of the servers I have had here range from average to poor. This evening, we went there for appetizers and cocktails. The hostess said there was open seating on the patio. We went out to the patio, moved chairs to an available two top, and sat down. An older mail waiter (who I think I've seen at Kinkos- and seemed constantly grumpy there too) angrily approached us saying "You can't sit there." Even if we had not been told we could by the hostess, I might have expected an "I'm sorry; you'll need to be seated by the hostess." When my husband explained, he stormed off and started yelling at the hostess in front of us. A second hostess came and told him it was open seating. He looked over angrily and said "You can sit." We left and found ourselves (again) leaving Longmont to have dinner at elsewhere (The Post in Lafayette). If only The Big Red F folks could see this place is desperate for decent food and service! LIke others have mentioned, must try the cauliflower, we also went w/the lengua and limes, that is ridiculously good, but tastes better IMO w/the aioli they give you w/the tots rather than the lime chile they come with, super tender, super flavorful. Nice ambience and a classy laid out americana restaurant w/reasonable pricing for drinks and food, will definitely eat here again when I am up in Longmont. read more
