The Roost in Stone Ridge is a casual cafe serving American fare with exceptionally fair prices. We went here for lunch and enjoyed the quiche combo, BLAT and Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. Everything was super tasty with the daily quiche being our favorite dish of the meal. We like the Roost for a quick lunch or breakfast

We came here for breakfast and it was good. So we drove 40 minutes for this place and I ordered the breakfast enchilada skillet and it was good. I did want to add chorizo on it but they said no because chorizo was only available for their special dish which they had. The skillet was really delicious; it had the sauce and the fluffy eggs. I would have like some guacamole or something a pico de gallo for a bit of citrus. That is my only suggestion. My niece ordered chicks and waffles and it was good. The chicken was juicy and the waffle was good as well sweet but not overly sweet. We got the chicken wings which were good; my niece said the wings were too crispy but I love a crispy wing. The flavor palette of cheese and garlic worked well especially with the sauce they provide. Overall the meal was good and delicious. I also ordered a warm apple cider and that was good. We also ordered dessert and that was ok; we had something chocolate with ice cream. The chocolate item was really rich. The service was good; the waitress was attentive. The place gives a homey and neighbor atmosphere. So I would not drive 40 minutes again for it; so I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

Came here on the hearty advice of one of our son, who has eaten here. Our experience was disappointing in comparison to his. For us, it has a limited menu & our server told us that no changes to items we might have considered were allowed. The pesto pasta was good, albeit drenched in oil (yes, I know olive oil is one of the ingredients, but this was too much). My husband's 3-piece chicken with tater tots was so dry that he could get down only one of the 3 pieces & left the rest. The tater tots were good. The iced coffee was excellent & hit the spot. The peach crisp was very good as was the brownie with salted caramel ice cream. Our server graciously gave us a nice deduction on our bill when she found out why we did not finish the chicken. This is a laid back place, looks like a lot of folks from town go here, prices are moderate to high, & the 50's vibe of the counter was fun.

A genuine delightful experience. Was in area looking for a breakfast spot with charm. This is it! Great cozy cafe with friendly down to earth staff. So relaxing. Excellent coffee to start. Nice simple menu that covers the gamut of what one wants for breakfast. Build your own omelette was plentiful and scrumptious. Came with salad and their version of home fries. Loved everything about the place. Hope to be passing by again! Thanks Roost!

Seriously cannot say enough about this place. We left Manhattan for an upstate weekend getaway and only had 2 days to try a bunch of restaurants on our list. Ended up coming to The Roost both days, it was that good! Did breakfast/brunch first day and lunch the second. Everything we had was amazing. It's the type of place where you can tell no matter what you order, everything is going to be good. Nice homey ambiance, mom n pop feel, really friendly staff, and super reasonable prices. The wraps , sandwiches, eggs and everything in between were perfectly prepared, super flavorful and very fresh. We even tried their empanada special which were delicious!!!! The Roost is officially on our all time greats list!!!

Had a yummy breakfast at The Roost today. To start off, the parking lot is big with lots of parking spaces. The establishment is small with a few indoor and outdoor seating. The setting gives a quaint and cozy vibe. Ambiance rate 8/10. My boyfriend and I ordered the "Build Your Own..." 1. Egg White Omelette w/ mushrooms, sausage, and gruyere cheese: This was a simple, yet delicious omelette. The portion size is generous considering it comes w/ a side salad and french fries. The french fries were alright. Overall rate 8/10. 2. Egg Quesadilla w/ bacon and Parmesan cheese w/ a side of tater tots. This tasted good as well. Unfortunately, the tortilla didn't stick well together being the cheese didn't melt that well. However, the tater tots were nice and crispy. Rate 8/10. Our server was very kind and helpful. He brought a whole bottle of sriracha sauce to the table, and even made a sriracha mayo sauce for my boyfriend. The service wait for food was moderate (15 mins). Service/staff rate 9/10. Overall, I had a pleasant experience here and would recommend it to those in the area.

Really like this local spot and have eaten here more times than I can count. Obsessed with their brioche bun and really have enjoyed many lunch options here! Recently had a jerk sandwich special which was delicious. The rotating specials always steel the show including quiche, soup and a French toast. Indoor outdoor seating is a plus too!

Of course we cleaned up and walked over and were even more thrilled when we arrived to a completely empty dining room with the exception of our wonderful waiter and attentive host. It felt like the perfect, cozy intimate space to the end of an otherwise rainy, somewhat crazy but fun day. We shared a bottle of red on recommendation and had cocktails. The waiter was warm and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance is cozy and has an elevated feel. Service…read morewas indeed spotty on the Saturday night we came here and prices- well....they veer into sharp-intake-of-breath territory, but the cocktail and wine list are good in value. We'd just wrapped up seeing a property in the area- so coming here for dinner, fell just in line with timing before heading down home. Butterfield is Hasbrouck House's on-site farm-to-table restaurant located a bit north from New Paltz. While we didn't stay at the hotel, folks can certainly dine here. Don't even think that you'll be seated in an ultra-cheap bar area because their bar is put together elegantly with brushed, brassy-gold touches, navy, grey+cream patterned wallpaper and a comfortable tufted leather(?) sofa against the windows. Those are pretty much the overall touches with lots of tone and a lot of warmth. Music was a great mix of 60s-70s R&B. Yeah.... here. Hubs and I were digging it. Naturally, Butterfield's menu will change regularly according with what's in season and available. Between our 'Small Plates' of mixed Beet salad+ yogurt ($18) and hubs' crispy wonton Tuna Crudo+ yuzu tacos ($22)- they were very tasty and pricy for the small size. Mr. Mixologist packed our cocktails extremely well with an incredible TKO. Our main plates were very good- but again, small for the dollar amount. No one needs to gorge on food- but I wished my palm-size $44 Halibut was a bit bigger. To their defense, it had a tasty rub and done PERFECTLY moist though. Hubs' $54 "dry aged strip loin" was a total of 3 pieces. And my take-out Truffle Risotto had uncooked rice. Again, it's small and expensive at $38 for a main plate Hubs and I eat well and usually, money is no object- if it's within reason. I totally get that fine dining typically means splurging a little for high-quality items or that Butterfield is using 'complex cooking techniques' or that you'll get an original dining experience in these neck of the woods for those who want uniqueness. But there are a ton of restaurants that use the same skill set, quality organic ingredients, root veggies, etc- and they're way more reasonably priced than this location.

Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns. The owners & the hotel's hospitality group are working on upgrading & updating the facilities & its offerings & we applaud them for their efforts & plans. We are glad that we could fully enjoy this welcoming, beautiful old stone home & its equally welcoming staff. AND, we thank the head chef for the bottle of Prosecco that he gifted us! P.S. Chef Mark's food deserves a full 5 stars, being delicious, fresh, creative, and well executed throughout our wedding weekend at the Elm Rock Inn. However, the administrative aspects were a 1-star at best. Throughout a 6 month planning phase we experienced a number of different changes in leadership of their catering administration, and were constantly experiencing communication lapses between the powers that be regarding the details of our wedding. We were consistently given information and pricing that someone else later deemed to be incorrect, thus causing serious chaos in our budgeting and planning. There seemed to be a serious disconnect between the GM, Catering Coordinator, and Service Coordinator in communicating any requests or inquiries we had up until the very end. Thus, everyone had more headaches than necessary because things needed to be double, triple, and sometimes quadruple-confirmed. The final invoice was still incorrect the week of the wedding and needed to be adjusted. Service the day of our wedding was warm and the staff did a solid job, although it lacked a certain proactivity that made it harder for us to just relax and enjoy the party. Again, I think this was a leadership issue. Candles weren't lit until AFTER all guests were seated. We physically had to move the cake ourselves into the center of the room for the Cake Cutting Ceremony. Then no staff took it away to be sliced and served until much later, causing it to be served awkwardly while people were already dancing. The slideshow video wasn't properly set up and there was a moment of difficulty when the groom had to fix it and make it work himself. Things like this the bride and groom shouldn't have to worry about on their big day were always needing attention. On a more positive note, our actual stay at the Elm Rock Inn was amazing. The rooms and decor were beautiful and well maintained throughout our stay. Halle the Innkeeper and his brother Joe made us feel so comfortable and well taken care of. Breakfast everyday was a full gourmet experience, and it's no secret that Chef Mark was behind the scenes for every meal! Having the Elm Rock be our wedding headquarters for the weekend was convenient, fun and cozy! In summary, Chef Mark's food is the highlight of this company and should definitely be considered as some of the best in the area. His farm-to-table approach and high level of execution equates to deliciousness on the plate! However, should you decide to work with Harvest Real Food Catering for an event, I would highly recommend a patient and overly communicative style in your preparations, and definitely hiring a wedding coordinator for the final month. They are a company that is still growing and ironing out their executional kinks, and hopefully with each event they do, they improve. We had our share of difficulties with them, but also some wonderful moments and amazing food!
