I ordered the aforementioned omelette with a side salad (that I didn't even realize came with it, but it was so good I didn't care -- and what about their randomly delicious play on croutons by the way?! Got to little Rock and came straight to The Root Cafe on recommendation from a Bexley friend. Robbie was super friendly and helpful with our choices! So, we tried the Root Benny, the Shitake Benny, split a Sausage Biscuit and our son had a Blueberry Pancake. Had a Honey Ginger Lemonade, a Lemonade and an Iced Tea. The staff are all masked up and have pins using pronouns (Amazing). The bathroom has a sign that has indicators stating they clean it often, but that there is sanitizer for patrons to use for the door handles before and after use to help prevent COVID-19. read more

The food was divine!! I love that this is a farm to table restaurant and you can tell the food was made with love. It's high quality, flavorful and reasonably priced. I ordered the mushroom burger on gluten free bread based on the recommendation of the staff. The marinated mushrooms complimented the Dijon sauce well. I normally don't even like Dijon! The sauces are house made. The vegan ranch was so delectable I licked the container clean and the side salad was made of a spring mix; a nice accompaniment. My friend ordered a ham and cheese and a side of sweet potato fries. The dipping sauce was tangy! The butternut squash soup was creamy and vegan comprised of a coconut base with a hint of spice from cayenne. Everyone was joyful from their orders. Stopped in Little Rock for only a night but saw this place and the menu looked interesting. My husband and I were so happy we did order from here! I got the jamn burger and he got the pulled pork dinner with macaroni and cheese. Each dish came with a side salad and dressing. The side salad was fresh and delicious. Loved the dressing! The pulled pork was huge! There was so much that two of us couldn't finish it. The taste shocked us! We've never eaten pulled pork with this flavor before. It was quite sweet and juicy. It came with some cornbread but we wish we had two slices of bread to make a sandwich out of it! Otherwise, such a great meal!!!! The burger was ahhhh-mazing! My husband and I visited this place because another restaurant that we had planned on visiting was closed. I knew they had vegetarian and vegan options but I wasn't sure what exactly. We were extremely impressed with both the customer service and the food. Though we're dealing with COVID, we still felt that the employees accommodated to us very well. Good thing I read the HANDY DANDY Yelp reviews and beat the clock super early. As you walk in, right away the service is great and the decor is ADORABLE. Think FARMHOUSE meets tea party. Bright and VIBRANT colors with cottage pattern prints. The side shelf with toys and books was CUTE too. It's FARM FRESH for real at the Root and there were so many tempting MENU options. A mini road trip down to Little Rock led us to the root of it all; a delightful, local cafe that uses fresh ingredients and friendly service to brighten up your morning. Especially for the veggie lovers and vegans, there are great options available here. Upon entering, you could tell that the owners were very intentional in creating a comfortable restaurant atmosphere. The menus are hand-written and hung from the wall in very creative fashion. The choices seemed endless, and I struggled to decide what to even get. In the end, I settled for the Root Benny and a Chai Latte. The benny featured two poached eggs over a local bed of greens and ham, topped with hollandaise sauce. The plating was fantastic, and every bite was fresh and tasty. My friend ordered the egg banh mi, which was a very interesting take on the Vietnamese sandwich. It was more of a salad than anything! Our chai came in these cute mugs with lids that made sure they stayed brewing and warm in cold winter days. The cafe also creates a real home-cooked feel, and with that comes some responsibility. You're expected to grab your own utensils, fill your own cup of water, and bust your own tables. Nothing strenuous in the least, and it's nice to know that we're doing a part in helping the management out as well. If you're in the mood for a healthy and tasty brunch to start your day, then this is the place to be.
