Bartender has no idea how to do his job, couldn't make simple drinks. Also doesn't show any attention to you if your not a regular.

I get it, they just opened up and are working out the kinks. I feel bad writing them a bad review because I always support downtown, fourth ave, and local but the service was so bad that it warrants a bad review. We saw people leave in frustration after not ever being served. I hope they get their s**t together soon, I was disappointed. Let's start with the customer service... neither of the two bartenders greeted my friend and I when we walked in. The place is a self service type place so be sure to walk up the to counter and place your orders as they do not have staff waiting tables. I opted for the sangria since the hand written menu was very hard to read. If it wasn't hand written than the font should be changed immediately but a bunch of things were scratched off the menu so I'd say it was probably written in pen. The $5 Red sangria was a generous pour but I did not care for the flavor of it at all. The wine tasted old and stale. The food they were warming up in the mini ovens smelled delicious but we just stuck with drinks. The ambiance was nice when we first arrived but got incredibly loud as the night progressed. My friend and I felt like we were yelling at each other by the time we left. Overall I'd probably not come back as the wine that was offered was not to my liking but hopefully this place does well or switches up the menu every now and then. I actually stopped by here w/a friend recently during a Shakespearean pub crawl (it was great), and Royal Room was one of the stops! It was during the day, and I'd like to hopefully come back again during happy hour as some other Yelpers have wrote about. The ambiance of the place is open and inviting and they had a decent variety of all sorts of drinks--wall coolers included. A nice and casual spot that is worth checking out! read more

Came for lunch. Total of 7 guests in the building (including the 2 of us). The menu options are super limited but what we had was delish (sandwich and the house salad). I would say the salad is overpriced at $8 for what u get. Didn't order any beer or wine which appear to have a nice selecrion. This place is good for a nice quite happy hour or maybe a meeting. Very cozy atmosphere​, and a nice addition to downtown Tucson. Everywhere we went was closed but we asked a local bartender where the best places to go and he recommended this place. A lot of the reviews mentioned wine and beer but I went ahead and ordered a classic margarita​. When I ordered it I was expecting a really great drink since the cocktails here are a little overpriced​ at $10 for a margarita in Tucson. I live in Austin, and you can get a strong drink here for that price! It wasn't the best I've had, and I could taste the cheap liquor​​... I asked a different bartender to re-make the drink, he even tasted the drink that the other bartender made, and he didn't approve. He apologized and re-made it. Overall, this place is great just make sure they don't skimp out, and make you a crappy drink. Great environment, and a ​great place to catch up with an old friend. read more

I stopped in for the first time today and was not disappointed. The place was extremely clean and loved the artwork. I ordered a turkey and Swiss sandwich for takeout. I haven't had a sandwich in a very long time and this really hit the spot. The ingredients were fresh and great quality. I tend to be very particular about the quality of ingredients, but was not expecting much since this is primarily a bar. I was totally wrong. They definitely made sure to keep their standards high when it came to their food menu. Sandwich was really large, so I could only eat half. It was served with a pickle and a tiny cup of pasta salad. All for the amazing price of $5! Where else can you eat a meal for that low price these days?! read more

Royal Room is a great addition to this neighborhood. Cozy atmosphere with plenty of seating at the bar, smaller tables and extra side room. Wine and beer on tap and I can't recall if they do cocktails, as I've only ever had wine there. And some how lucked out every time with a $5.00 a glass happy hour pricing. There is also a retail area for those that want to grab and go ....or open a bottle and drink it there! What makes this place extra great is they they have a small menu for light bites. I love that you can basically build your own charcuterie board and at a great price too! I love a cheese and salumi board...but I have yet to find a place in Tucson that offers one that matches the price. Here...you have a choice of salumi, cheeses and other accoutrements like olives, pickles, almonds. Just being able to pick what you want makes it fun and it's really a great value here. The options are simple but priced super fairly...so you won't up with a $16 cheese board that have two slices of cheese and handful of grapes. The menu also offers sandwiches- but I have yet to try one. They also have some sandwiches, which I have not tried. Four stars for the order at the counter service. It can get very congested and ultimately...it's not very efficient. The folks sitting at the bar near the ordering area get disturbed by people walking up to the bar to place an order...while others grab a table and wait around for a server that will never come because they don't have servers. They should have a designated ordering area so that guests aren't trying to grab the bartenders attention over other customers shoulders. And have a friendly note/sign on each table that says "order at the bar, please." I recommend Royal Room for a happy hour catch up with friends. read more

The royal Room is a very intimate setting, sooo if you're looking to come on a Friday date bases. Be ready for an amazing meat and cheese board with a side of wine and maybe some king of the hill. Be sure to order at the bar, grab your drinks at the bar because the services is on you. What a great place to enjoy friends, great food and wine! Super comfy atmosphere- you could dress up or down. Great for happy hour, dinner, dates. Super friendly staff and they let you taste the wine! There are board games, but the food and wine are conversation starters enough. Choose your own charcuterie with super fresh meats and cheeses. Friday after work get together with friends. We were excited to try this place based on instagram post. The place was not packed. As soon as we got there we where confused about how the concept worked. The "bartender" didn't even greet us. He looked confused. He didn't even help us decide what to drink. Took our credit cards and went to the back with them and never brought them back, which was very suspicious. We asked for our CCards and he said I will keep them until you leave. Well you never asked if we wanted to open a tab or close......this can continue but I'm going to just give two stars based on the drink. This place is a bit away from the hubbub of Congress and 4th Ave, but anyone who has lived here in the last 5 years know that these areas are growing FAST. Located a stone's throw from Tap and Bottle, this area is likely to become an extension of the bar scene in the next three years. We went here after a mid-season sports party upon the prompting of a less-than-sober friend. There's a nice selection of wine and an okay selection of bottled beer. The place was clean and service was attentive and would bring out drinks to us. The vibe in the first room felt a little like a try-hard attempt of a hip speak-easy, but the second room was incredibly comfortable and had card games that we took full advantage of. It contained squashy arm chairs and a couch that felt more like sitting in a friend's den than in a bar. It's a nice place to chill with a group of friends if you'd like a change of scene. read more

The Royal Room officially opened a very short time ago. We went there on a Saturday afternoon. At first glance the place looks really nice inside and out. Service was fine. The drink menu was OK but not great. The food menu was somewhat lacking e.g. not many choices and no vegan items. I ordered a couple of glasses of wine and some munchies e.g. bruschetta and olives and figs. All the items we ordered were OK however the bruschetta was way overpriced. It was $9.00 for about eight pieces of french baguette with a little olive oil and tomato, no cheese as I had specified. There were no happy hour prices on food or drink and we were there around 4 PM. The final bill ended up around $33 for three smallish glasses of wine, some bread and a few olives and figs....not including the tip. You would do better going to Time Market close by. They have better assortment of drinks that are cheaper for happy hour. You can get a lot of food there also for $9.00...a sandwich or huge slice of artisan pizza or a variety of salads or deli items. In short you'll spend around the same amount of money and get a full dinner and drinks. Seems like a brand new restaurant needs to attract new customers and build a loyal base before they start trying to make a lot of money to get a profit?? Tucson is a poor town. Maybe in LA or San Francisco you can get away with high prices and poor food choices however it will be an uphill struggle for that here in podunk Tucson. read more

I feel so urban when I sit by the window sipping an interesting wine. The atmosphere is urban, chic and begs you to sit for hours drinking wine. Which I have done, on a couple of occasions. This is a beer and wine place. The wine list is varied, interesting and well priced. A friend and I tried a Slovenian red wine (didn't know they even made wine) and it was fabulous. Not many places in Tucson, maybe none, offer Slovenian wine. The beer list is small but well appointed. But maybe my favorite thing about this place is the make-your-own charcuterie board! You can pick from a selection of meats, cheeses and veggie/olives. They have marcona almonds! I love the flexibility to customize your board and have a little nosh with your wine. And the prices are great. They also have some sandwiches, which I have not tried, but their bread is great made by Anello (excellent wood fired pizza place down the street). The Royal Room is a welcome addition to the Tucson restaurant/bar scene. Did I mention they have happy hour? Dollar off their already low prices! $5 for a great glass of wine my friend.
