The previous 3 times I purchased shoes here the customer service has been great. Today, however, was extremely disappointing. I come here at the recommendation of my personal trainer who runs a local boot camp. Today I walked in for a new pair of shoes. The salesperson asked if I wanted the same pair which would have been great. After a few minutes he comes out and states they do not have the shoes in my size. I ask if they have anything comparable and he states no, they have no shoes in the store that are my size, but he can order them. I tell him that would be fine. He then comes back and says no, they can't order them, but I should go shop in Palo Alto or Santa Clara. Awesome, as a business owner, that's what I want my employees do, send customers away. I'm a beginning runner, but this place was very friendly to my entire family as we got new shoes and had a rambunctious two year old running around in tow. They helped my wife (who had been before) figure out the right shoe, sent her out to do a quick test run down the shopping mall and focused their attention on me all while my child played with the "slide" (one of the chairs) and their basket of toys. The first time I went here the salesperson was great and really listened to what I needed. I still use what I learned from her when purchasing my running shoes. However, the next time I went the girl helping me sold me a shoe that was way off from my previous selection. Fortunately they took the return after I'd worn it a couple of times. He had me stand on the computerized feet measurement tool, had me try 3 pairs of running shoes to run on the sidewalk, video taped me run, and sold me a pair of Brooks Adrenaline 14! Chris was very knowledgeable and his explanations were quite thorough. Lucky for me, as well as a surprise to me, the pair that worked best for my feet were on sale! I'm not a runner and had never stepped foot inside a running store until visiting Running Revolution. I have on/off IT band issues from backpacking and cycling and was told by a PT that trail running shoes may work well for me. The two guys in the shop were both extremely helpful. They put me on a machine to measure my arch and then filmed me walking on a treadmill to diagnose why my IT band might be flaring up when backpacking. I didn't expect this kind of service when shopping for shoes! I tried on several pairs of shoes until I found some that fit well and helped keep my knee in a more neutral position. Immediately after buying the shoes my wife and I went for a hike. The shoes were great and my knee didn't hurt. So far so good. My wife will return to the shop when she's ready to get some new shoes. I walked into Running Revolution one day, feeling a little uneasy because I am not an expert on shoes and I had my share with bad experience buying bad shoes and paid too much. Anyway, I was greeted by a young sale girl, forgot her name :(...She had me tried 6 different pairs with various brands, she even asked me to go out side and run with the new pair of shoes on, I bought real good shoes, really appreciated her tips on running, how to break the shoes in, etc...oh, I almost forgot they do have feet scan machine too, learned a lot about shape of feet and how to match with right type of shoes. WOW! My running has picked up well and it worth every penny I invested. Really recommend this store to anyone. Next time when I go there I will certainly ask for her and name to add it to this blog. read more

I was there a little while ago to buy new running shoes. I had already done the walk and run test to decide my size. I just wanted to buy another pair of shoes. I did not buy it online, just because I had been here before, and I can try it before I buy it. A few extra bucks to buy it locally would be okay for me. Having said that, I had to wait for about 25 minutes before someone said, "Have you been helped?". In these 25 minutes I approached 3 people and the said, "Just a minute". They helped another person who came after me before me. Now, that I finally got attention, I showed them the shoe that I bought last time, and they said, that they did not have that particular one in stock. I asked them for a similar shoe, but they made me spend time on the tread mill again. Then gave me a new pair of shoes for $110.00 I bought it, and came home. Saw the exact same shoe, same size, same width, same model number from amazon for $40. Yes that is true, only FORTY dollars. I ordered it online and went back to return it. The owner was there, and he told me that the extra price was for the service they provide to run on the treadmill. There are other places in the bay area that provide the same service. Just bought my first pair of running shoes here. They're fantastic! They start by measuring the pronation of your feet, and then suggest shoes for you. They have you try them out and explain where you should feel tightness and where it should be loose. Then they have you try them out walking and running on the sidewalk out front, and bring more shoes out for you to try based on your feedback. There were two people working there (I assume the two owners mentioned in the other reviews, but I didn't check), and even while other people came in and asked questions, they still made me feel like I was being attended to without having to wait much. Prices were higher than the outlet stores I'm used to (of course), but not that bad. I ended up paying ~150 for shoes and a new pair of running shorts. read more

I came here today after seeing so many of my Yelp friends rave about it. I have been on the hunt for new gym shoes for some time but had no luck. I walked in and was immediately helped by a gentleman working there. He asked me what I was looking for and had me walk to the door and back I guess to see how I walk (Ha! Ha!) Then he had me stand on a machine to test out my arches and how much weight I stand on each leg. It was comforting to me to know that all the money I have been forking out on chiropractic adjustments has definitely helped my stance and scoliosis. He told me I stood almost evenly on both legs...cool! I do have high arches which I knew so he wanted to find me a shoe to help with that. The machine told me I wore a size 7 which is weird because I don't...so I told the man that and he brought me out shoes in my usual size of 6 and they fit great! I heard about people running on the treadmill but the guy never had me do that. I looked at the wall and their selection looked pretty small but I was impressed with the 4 shoes he brought out for me to try. I loved all of them and wish I could have bought them all...or at least 2! Each fit my foot comfortably and supported my arches and cushioned enough that felt good. I had such a hard time picking that I finally had to try them on all "blindly" and not think about the color or style but only the comfort and arch support. Funny...I chose the nerdiest ones out of all of them ;)...of course! Ha! Ha! But hey I am at an age where I need to think about the true purpose and not the image. So I bought them and love them! I might down the road buy another pair that I loved too but just didn't have the $$ for today. Overall great store....I would come back here again for shoes. Friendly service too! read more

This is one review I missed last month! I've received several flyers from all the racing packets about this humble little running store in Campbell. And after reading all the Yelp reviews, I made a trip out there to find my new running shoes for the Santa Cruz Half Marathon. My old running shoes had seen its final days and it was time to shop for new ones. I have strict criteria from my doctor and their Sports Medicine department. I have a high arch on my right foot that requires stable mobility. I didn't need much customer service here because I had already done my research. After spending several minutes browsing at their shoe selection, I decide to pick up the New Balance 1011. The NB 1011's did extremely well during the test drive. I had the new cushioned feeling with the stability to my arch. I decided to wear them out the door and put my old shoes in the box. I thought about calling first, but I really wanted to check out the store in person. I also picked up a fuel belt with accessories. After several running events, I wanted to cut down my packings and obtain something less bulky. Prices Compared to Sports Basement: Competitive by a few dollars. However, I could have saved at least $5.00 bucks on the fuel belt. The NB 1011's was at the same price at $120.00. Knowledge Staff: Good. They allow you to test drive the shoes in their parking lot. Best Advice I Can Give about Running Shoes: If you're new to running, get your doctor's examination first (or consult their sports medicine department). They are the best place to start. Always explain to your doctor any foot pain (before or after an event or exercise). Write down your doctor's recommendations and then get a knowledgeable running shoe expert to narrow down your selection. According to Runner's World, some discomforts concern due to improper shoes. Large selection of running apparel: Not really. I was looking forward to buying some cool running shirts, but nothing worth picking up. Return Policy: Keep your receipts! They have a great return policy on shoes that don't feel right or present discomfort. Just don't throw the shoes into a meat grinder or soak them in cow poo. Wow, it was like buying a car and have everything fitted to your needs - all you gotta do is to sit back (not that far back, because they make you work later) and relax! I've been getting some calve pain lately... maybe because I run at the speed of light and fight crimes at night, but I thought it was partly due to bad running shoes. A friend recommended me to this awesome place of awesomeness! OK, at first I was doubtful. A small store in a little shopping center, hmph. But I was pleasantly surprised! I was warmly greeted by Chris upon walking in, and I had to stand on this fancy machine so he could analyze all of my problems (turns out I am fighting too much crime at night - must calm down a bit), and magically, pairs of shoes appeared in front of me. And this is where they make you work. I had to run around the parking lot in my skinny jeans (someone was on the treadmill... but yes, they do have a treadmill in store for you to test drive), and once we figured out my preferences, he showed me two more pairs of shoes and I got to pick which one I liked better. Wow, no trying on 17 pairs of shoes and not knowing what to do? Awesome! Their price is reasonable - no crazy markups, loved it! I will definitely come back for my next pair (and the one after that) of running shoes! read more

Disclaimer: I aint no runner, but I still had to Yelp this experience. Looking online for specialty running shoes and reading reviews on yelp, I decided to check this place out. Went there on a saturday afternoon and it was decently crowded. Elaina (sorry if I spelt her name incorrectly) asked me,if i needed any help. i explained to her that I want to start running and am looking for some running shoes. The next pertinent question was, how much was i planning to run? Then i was told to stand on a machine, which determined the pressure points and arcs in my feet (based on my posture) This was followed by a small run, where she examined my running style. In she goes, and comes out with an Asics. A supervised run again and I could feel the difference between my current shoes and this one. tried out 3 more pairs....with me running in each one (outside the store) Finally decided on one. Paid and walked out with my first pair of proper running shows. Absolutely excellent customer service. She also told me, how I run and what kind of shoes she gave me. (Nope...i wasnt told to go thru the video-taping thingy that some others have mentioned, but i did see someone going thru it, while I was at the store. Maybe, my running needs didnt demand a videotaped session...but I am not complaining) As long as I am in the bay area and as long as I keep running, you Ruuning Revolution...have found a customer for life :) read more

I needed a new pair of running shoes - something was up with either my feet or last year's model of my fave shoes (because toenails) - but was putting it off because my local shop had closed (RIP Fitgeek). Yelp to the rescue! The Running Revolution is clearly a labor of love - the staff are total running nerds, and they do have some cool gadgets at their disposal to help you find the perfect shoe. When I explained my toe crunching dilemma, the fella helping me knew exactly what I was talking about - apparently a known issue with that year's model. He helped me try out a kajillion different sizes and widths, even bringing out some new brands, and encouraging me out the door to do a test run on the sidewalk. A few other runners filtered in and out of the shop as I was deliberating, and they all got equal amounts of geeky love and attention, which was so impressive to me. I purchased a hydration belt 2 weeks ago and used it on a 5 mile walk. When the water in the bottles was less than full, it sloshed in the bottles and leaked out the cap so I went in to return it on Saturday. I still had the packaging and my receipt. I went in an explained what happened and that I liked the belt but that the bottles were defective. I asked if they had any other bottles that would fit in the belt that I could purchase. Chris put water in the bottle and then shook it frantically (not exactly a replication of the motion of a belt sitting on my waist). When water didn't leak out, Chris gave me a disapproving look and said, "If what you're saying is true, these would be failing right now. You must not have had the cap on correctly. See this - this is the cap not on correctly." I said, "I know how to put a lid on a water bottle. I walked for FIVE MILES and was messing with the bottles the whole time and they kept leaking out the nozzle, not from the base of the lid as though it wasn't screwed on correctly." He just continued looking at me disapprovingly and said, "You know, people return so many things here it's ridiculous. I'm just trying to show you how to fix the problem. I can take you in the back room and show you all the things people have returned here that I'm losing money on." I told him that I did not need someone talking down to me like that, being rude and not believing me, and that I certainly did not need to shop at his store anymore. He continued to try to get me to keep the belt and try screwing the lid on correctly so I said firmly, "I am done talking about this. Give me my money back and I will not shop here anymore!" He processed my return but insisted that he wasn't being rude. Completely unacceptable. read more

I had a good experience here. I was helped by one of the owners, who was "running around" (pardon the pun) between customers but he didn't forget you and made some good recommendations. They do put you on a treadmill and videotape your running to make recommendations based on your stride, which was exactly the kind of help I wanted in selecting a shoe. They're selection isn't huge, but still there were a few shoes that could work for me. Standard prices as well. read more

I'm updating my review because of some very important issues I've experienced over the year. Although this place hooked me up with a pair of shoes that fit my feet well, they failed to notice that I was running wrong in the first place. I found this out myself with a little luck and common sense. If they had noticed this from the start, I would not have developed a stress fracture in my right leg and shin splints on both. Once I corrected my shitty running form, my legs are finally feeling great. So make sure you're running properly (landing on the forefoot instead of the heel) before you pay 100+ for shoes that fit your feet. TRUST ME ON THIS! read more

The owners of The Running Revolution are great, and always helpful and very professional. I do agree with some other reviewers that some of the other employees are NOT the best for help/advice, so make sure you ask for one of the owners. Nevertheless, I meet them through TNT, and they got me through my first marathon with no pain in my feet. I wouldn't take advice or ask for it at any major chain after being advised by these guys, they really take the time to make sure they can address the problems many people have when running and to make it comfortable. read more

Chris and his entire team are super friendly and are very helpful. Both my wife and I came in here looking for some new shoes and they spent a bunch of time showing us the different options until they found the perfect shoes for us. While one of the shoes wasn't perfect after I ran a couple times in them, they didn't ask any questions and allowed me to exchange it for a different pair. This place rules, and you don't feel like they judge you for being fat and wanting running shoes. I came in here last summer because my old shoes were giving me really bad ankle pain. I was greeted right away with super friendly service and they checked my foot shape with one of those neat pads that are like those hypercolor shirts from the 90s, where it changes color with the heat. Then he filmed my feet to see where I need the most support to find a shoe that is good enough for me. I then ran around the block in a couple pairs of shoes to see what was best for me. The thing I appreciated was I felt like the customer service was less about trying to make money and more about actually helping the customer achieve status: greatness. Both my fiancée's and my running shoes are worn out so we are in need of new ones in preparation for the SF marathon. Ryan, who greeted us, was super helpful. He took a video of us running and examined our gaits carefully. Based on this analysis he then brought out a few pairs of shoes for each of us to try on. Between the two of us we must have tried 10 Pairs but he was super patient and knowledgable throughout the process. We ended up buying 3 pairs of shoes plus some other gears. I joined Team in Training for my first marathon (woohoo!) and as a non-runner, I was directed to The Running Revolution for my very first pair of real running shoes. I walked in (in high heels) and was warmly greeted by someone who asked what I was looking for. I was honest and told her that I haven't been running since 2007, and needed some running shoes for a marathon. She was friendly and directed me to the back where asked me what kind of socks I typically wear, and handed me a try-on pair. Then I was directed to a machine where I stood for about 10 seconds and it determined how the weight was distributed on my feet. Based on that, she pulled about 4 different pairs of shoes for me to try on. She even had me run outside in them while she recorded what my feet do when they run. We watched the slow motion play back of my running and she explained what I should look for in a running show. Now, I know this is a lot of information for a review, but being a beginner, it wasn't at all overwhelming or intimidating the way she explained the whole thing. It is a small store dedicated to running and great customer service. The store has a 2 week return policy where they will swap out your shoes if they aren't the right kind since you'll only know after running in them for about that long (perfect). It was a great experience and I highly recommend anyone even remotely interested in running shoes to check this place out. read more

Don't trust the information on the website. Sadly, I have no idea whether or not this employees at this store can help you find a great pair of running shoes. Based on the other reviews, I made a special trip to the store this evening in order to buy a pair of shoes that I need for several upcoming races. I've been having some issues with one of my feet, so I wanted some expert advice and was willing to pay top dollar for the right pair of shoes. We arrived shortly after 6pm. The information on both the website and Yelp stated that the store was open until 7pm on Tuesdays. A customer was in the store when we arrived, but that customer was on her way out. The one employee in the store then came over to me and said that the store was closed. I told him that the website said that the store was open until 7pm, but that information did not seem to matter to him. As I wanted help to select a great pair of shoes, I realized that I would not get the best service from someone who had told us that the store was closed. I left the store and drove to another nearby speciality running store where the employee patiently helped me find a fantastic pair of shoes. I gave the sales person the skinny on my feet and he brought out several types of shoes for me to try on and take outside to run around in. Made my pick and was out the door in 20 minutes.
