They also have a dairy bar inside the courtyard in case the beer isn't providing you enough carbohydrate. We didn't try the food here, but they had something that they were cooking over smoke that smelled amazing. If we had had a few more nights here in town, we would have eaten at the beer garden for sure. Do you make sure you take a walk through the public garden diagonally, across the street from here. It's easily four times the size I recall, with numerous decks at various levels and a free service area in the large patio by the main entrance. Here you order you victuals from the small bar at the back and get a great view of the boardwalk and harbour. There's plenty of shade for sun dodgers, servers galore on the decks and the usual pub fare if you're eating. I spoke to the delightful manager who reported trade, in season, way higher than of yore and I can certainly see why. Easily the best spot on the waterfront and a must visit for locals and tourists alike. Will definitely be back while summer lasts.

Then he asked me why I didn't notify the server at the time. I told him the reason which is the same as I had written in my communication to the Mic Mac Bar and Grill. So, the Mic Mac Bar and Grill did not address the highly questionable steak that we were served or the cold baked potato. We were offered a $50 gift certificate. This was offered after I was put tested about if I had a reservation, if I had addressed the server. The thing is, I should not have been served sub par meat or cold baked potato. I should not have been grilled on my performance in addressing this matter. So, moving forward, I will not be returning to an establishment that I have been going to for 30 years. Not because of the poor quality of meat that they say was strip loin, not the cold baked potato, but because of the way that I was treated after the facts were presented to the management. So, I will be breaking away from a thirty years history of eating at the Mic Mac Bar and Grill ( I used to know it as the Mic Mac Tavern) because I can be treated much better elsewhere.

I even warned 3 women with 3 little kids looking to go in that we had been there 90 minutes and nothing but they still went in - AND got their food within 30 minutes!!!! (We were reluctant to leave with such a large group, as we were not sure we could find anywhere else to help us) At 7:41pm (they close at 8), when asked again about any food, Frank said give us 20 more minutes. I asked if any food from our order had even been started. No was the reply. When we said - that was it, we were done, and to get the drinks bill, he tried to say it had been started. At this point, I had gone to a nearby place (Thank you Lower Deck!) who said they could help us, we paid the drink bill and left. In my entire life, I have never experienced such poor service from any place anywhere. When our orders finally showed up after 53 minutes of being placed, mine wasn't what I ordered. I asked for a pan fried fish burger and got pan fried fish. The server was adamant that's what I ordered and proceeded to tell me that 'the only difference is the bun and veggies, otherwise it's the same fish'. I was quite surprised at the comment rather than offering to make it right. Given we had a waited nearly an hour for our food by this point, I sucked it up and just ate what I got. Service here is definitely lacking and it's clear staff doesn't have the skills required to deal with people. While the food was alright, the sides looked like they were scraped off of other peoples' plates and just thrown onto ours. No one bothered to check on us or apologize.
