Do not let previous negative reviews defer you. We thought the food and service were excellent. Better than some of the restaurants we went to in the little bay area. I've attached one dinner entree and 2 pictures of sandwiches we ordered for lunch today. Nice portions, reasonably seasoned and overall great quality. Initially they are a little slow with service outside but as soon as they realize you are out there waiting, the service is great. The servers frequent your table to make sure you are accommodated. We are staying at the resort for 3 nights and have been VERY happy with breakfast, lunch and dinner and dessert (order the key lime pie!). Also you cannot beat the dinner view.

    Weird muddled cherry old fashioned

We loved the resort, this restaurant was so so. Originally we were going to eat at 88 but decided to watch the sunset before and have a more casual meal. Highlights were the lobster Mac n cheese (my husband said it was the best he's ever had). There were sizable portions of lobster in it for sure. He said the clam chowder was also pretty good. My wedge salad was underwhelming and I don't expect a lot from a salad. The chicken sandwich I got was fine. That's my best description. The bun was soggy and fell apart on the bottom. Less carbs for me I guess. The service left something to be desired. I think because it's a seasonal place it may be hard to keep people there. Our server seemed a little lost but I appreciated another employee who came to check on us. My husband ordered an old fashioned which was made either completely wrong or it's something unique they do...but the cherries were muddled as well, giving it a pink color and a much sweeter flavor (which I liked more because I don't enjoy bourbon but my husband was not a fan of). They did have a great selection of local beers though!

Best to ask how much the lobster roll is before you order it. It certainly was delicious by my standards. But? $$$$

I am not sure how to rate the Salty Stag. The staff is truly wonderful. I must mention that it is not cheap. So be prepared.

I read a few mediocre reviews on Yelp for this restaurant and decided to try it regardless. I am so glad I did. Maybe there is a different kitchen staff or some new changes because I ate here multiple times this weekend and loved everything. The clam chowder is really something special. I had a killer burger, delicious fish tacos, and a very good medium rare steak. I also tried the blueberry pie for dessert and it was excellent. A well stocked bar, with a great staff. I will be sure to come back on my next visit to Boothbay.

Located in the Spruce Point Inn, Bogies has wonderful ocean views and great clam chowder and awesome pretzel bread with butter. My friend had chowder as well and a salad loaded with grilled chicken. Out waitstaff was nice and checked on us and brought out our order quickly. We had a wonderful late night bite at Bogies and loved our stay at the Inn.

So here's the thing about mac & cheese.. if the restaurant you are eating at has lobster m&c you HAVE to get it. This is the best lobster mac I have ever had. The cheese sauce was incredible and the lobster was savory and buttery. With such a large party I was with, all of our food came out at a reasonable time with impeccable presentation and taste. I would also recommend the clam chowder.

    View from outdoor dining patio

We ate all the food before we could take a picture! The outdoor dining area wasn't opened yet (no servers outside) but we ordered "takeout" and they plated our food and let us bring it to the deck. We got the tomato and mozzarella pizza as well as one with shrimp and bacon. Both were delicious. Also got the fish tacos which were ok. And a cup of chowder which was also just okay. The flatbreads were great though!! I'm sure the outdoor area will be open later in the season - we were just too early in June.

One had the fish and chips. Up this way they use haddock. Don't know why we don't in Charleston, that was some oh-so-delicious fish!!!! I'd been dying for some 'Boston' clam chowder. This chowder definitely fits the bill. Tasty, salty (in an appropriate way) thick, hot, and stuffed with some delicious clams. I also decided on the risotto, just the 4 cheese, no protein. This was creamy and so full of flavor, 6 days later I'm still thinking about it. We sat on the rooftop, enjoyed some fine weather, a great meal, and lovely wine. Couldn't have been a more perfect lunch!

The fish tacos are so delicious and they have a lot of fun cocktails to choose from. I come here every summer! Perfect for a date night or night out with the entire family. Servers are very friendly. It has a laid-back yet upscale vibe. I've also come during the daytime for lunch. You can come via boat. I believe it's the same lunch and dinner menu but again everything is soo good. Their Linekin Bay Smash (rum punch) is a must!

I had a cup of seafood chowder which was wonderful. It had great depth of flavor and lots of seafood. It was definitely in house made. The lobster roll was plentiful however the meat didn't taste fresh. It could have been because it was the last day of their season and the were shutting down for the year. The chips that accompanied the lobster roll were delicious. I met family here that live in Portland. The view from the dock was breathtaking. I would come for a beer and chowder anytime just to have a chance for that view!

We chose to sit at the bar. The bar has maybe 8 seats, 3 were already taken. My husband ordered a Corona & was served immediately. The bartender never even looked at me & proceeded to chat with a guy a few seats down, and even walked by us several times, still never looking in my direction. Finally, I said, "can I order a drink"? The guy just looked at me. I ordered my usual, Jack on the rocks. I inquired about their "Famous Crab Dip"- did they make it and do they use lump crab meat? The bartender said yes to both. For our $16 we were brought a flat plastic container containing a flat yellowish mixture with paprika sprinkled on top. It was hot, but not "cheesy" and there was no visible crabmeat. It was tasteless. I said, there is no lump meat in here, in fact this plastic container had to be microwaved. He said, it was. They blend cheese(unknown type)& crab and microwave it. He did take it off our check at the end. We also ordered Bang Bang shrimp($14), which was delicious, and fried lobster($38). The lobster was also delicious, but served on a generous pile of cold, unseasoned fries. In a town where there are plenty of options for the same fare, the unfriendly service and subpar food gets this place only 2 stars.
