Off the beaten path and in a corner hotel. I parked in back and went in. Clean space, plenty of seating. They had a live band. We ordered our drinks and nabbed a table. Great band. Played a mix of hits. We then saw the sign for the pizza. Now the pizza was amazing. They had an oven. The only downside is that it did take awhile. I would definitely come back. read more

They had live music on Saturday nights that starts right at 10p. After we got our IDs checked, we walked in and were immediately overwhelmed. It was very loud, very busy, and looked like your typical dive bar, which was cool. There were no seats in the front of the bar, at the bar, or even the tables in the back. After ordering our pizza, we finally found seats to eat near the pool tables in the back. We ordered the Champagne & Reefer, which is their supreme pizza. We were hungry so this pizza hit the spot. To be completely honest, I think my friend and I did not enjoy this place because I think we were the youngest at this bar. Everyone around us seemed to be having a great time and we were happy for them. We were slightly overwhelmed and felt like we needed a bar menu. We ended up just skipping alcohol all together at this place. I might want to try this place again with a bigger group of people. There's live entertainment every day here which is a huge plus. I really like that there's so many different bands and acts that are presented on their stage - giving you a great mix of all different types of music. During the nights it can get very busy and you can tell by the parking lot. There's a courtyard in the back as well and during the holidays it's really nicely decorated both inside and out. They have a pizza place inside. When you enter, go to the right and there's a window to order. They give you a buzzer and you'll know when your pizza is ready. I would say that the pizza is good, not great, but good. I got a pepperoni pizza. Ordering drinks - you go straight to the bar. The bartenders are all SUPER friendly! They help explain the different drafts that they have and are very attentive when you walk up. On some days they have two different acts for the live entertainment as well. Great, festive bar to celebrate the holidays at! The ambiance definitely gets a 5/5. They decorate every inch of this bar and it makes for great photos. The service was not bad, we went during peak hours on a Saturday so it was expected to be busy, but the bartenders kept the lines moving. The pizzas were delicious but the drinks were just ok for the price. Our group felt that our drinks were watered down a bit. I wasn't in love with the spiked hot cocoa, it was hard to drink once it cooled off. Although, I'd still come back and try other items on the menu. This bar will keep your ID when you order a seasonal drink in a special mug. You need to return the mug to get your ID back. It's a neat system except for when you'd like to keep your ID and don't want a fancy cup. They make exceptions sometimes, but not when we asked. I stopped by Sand Dollar for the Christmas pop up after being disappointed by a different Christmas pop up bar. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was the smell of the pizza. I wish I had an appetite because from what I could see of others orders, it looked really good. The bar was decorated to theme and was very spacious. Even offered an outdoor bar and seating area. The drinks we ordered came in really cute cups that were on theme of Christmas. My friend and I both thought the drinks taste better than the previous bar but weren't great. As time went on, the bar got progressively busier but never felt overcrowded. There were maybe 20 chairs around the bar and some table seating options but I do with there was more seating available inside since the space was so large. I would be willing to give the bar another chance but order something different. read more

Came here with a friend to soak up the holiday atmosphere, and the space was incredibly festive. The Christmas decor was super cute throughout the bar, and even extended into the outdoor area. Sand dollar during the holidays is crazy busy. Came one Friday night for during December and it was wild. Line for mixed drinks was about a 15 minute wait and luckily was able to get a table. Sometimes u crave corned beef hash or filet mignon. This is one such place corned beef hash kinda place. And it's perfect for what it is. I don't even know if I'd call it a dive bar--feels like this place is older than the term itself. More like an OG "been there, drank that, bought the T-shirt" kinda situation. It's so old school they don't even have a bouncer--probably because they already know the average customer age is 40... maybe 39 if it's someone's birthday and their niece brought friends. Now before I got here, I was over at the ultra-swanky "Wax Rabbit" at the Durango Casino--a luxe speakeasy hidden inside a Mexican restaurant. Talib Kweli was DJing, the crowd was cute and cooler than thou, and everyone looked like they just walked off a runway. Including me--because one thing imma always do is serve a look. So when the party migrated here afterward... Ya girl was--how do I say this politely--CONFUSED AF. This is the kind of seedy-looking, dimly-lit spot you only see on TV, where the bartender keeps a shotgun under the bar and knows how to use it. The kind of place your parents go to and only invite you to when you turn 35 and they think you've finally earned your grown-up card. It's got everything you need: Live bands that change nightly to keep the vibes fresh. Chairs, tables, and two big couches with coffee tables--premium view of the stage, ideal for vibing or judging quietly. A center bar that's clearly been through some things but still standing tall. Pool tables for you to either win with pride or lose with excuses. Now let me tell you--I fully expected to feel outta place walking in. Our crew? All under 45, all people of color. My Black a$$ was ready to do a U-turn. But I couldn't have been more wrong. It was rainbow city up in there--folks of all kinds, just vibin'. And people were actually dancing... rhythm? Minimal. Pizzazz? Barely there. But the effort? Top tier. One off-beat couple was 5-6-7-8'ing like it was their final callback. And this older lady--apparently a local fixture--was two-stepping around the stage like it was her own personal Soul Train. And chilllle when i say she was giving shhooulders!!!! This place is definitely a "come as you are" kind of vibe--which is rare and appreciated in the glammed-up thirst trap that can be Vegas nightlife. Now me? I like to be in bed by 10:30, lights out by 11. So by the time we pulled up around 1:30am, I was already locked in a full-on battle with the Sandman, who was whispering sweet bedtime lies. But my friends? WIDE awake. Ordering pizza (which they sau is incredibly gooood) Telling jokes. Acting like it was still happy hour. Even my super straight-laced veteran brother was living his best life. By 3am I called it. But my brother wanted to stay (let's be honest--he was tryna flirt with one of my younger homegirls), so I left him with the crew and dipped. And I left knowing he--first-time Vegas visitor from the deep South--was in good hands. The live band was tearing up classic rock and country like they had something to prove, and he was all in. Used the bathroom before I left--small, but clean (honestly that's a win). Got to my car easy, thanks to the solid parking lot right out back. All in all? This year the holiday decor is as splendid as last year's! Stopped by last night and enjoyed "Santa" singing blues - now they have live music every night. The band was fantastic, the crowd really grooving. The challenge is when it's this crowded, it becomes almost impossible to order a drink. You really have to get close and personal to others at the bar to flag someone so you can order something - meanwhile, two guys interpreted my proximity as interest in, well, them. Lol. I have spent two weeks on vacation in Las Vegas and I have had my fill on the tourist trap locations. Luckily a musician friend recommended the Sand Dollar Lounge as a place to catch some local musicians. I really enjoyed myself here. The beer selection was good, the pizza was amazing, and the local group playing, The Foster Collective, was on point! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite local hot spots to check out every year during the Christmas season is the Sand Dollar Lounge ( @thesanddollarlv ). As luck would have it, we were able to check out their outstanding winter cocktail selection while feasting on their amazing pop-up chef series pizza event for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. Oliver Morowati ( @olivier_morowati ) was cooking up variations of pizza inspired by Tamba's cuisine. Both were out of this world. We also picked up a standard cheese as a companion, which was fire. I've been to this spot a few times, but this was the first time eating there, and the chef's pizza pop-up series runs all month. Miracle on Spring Mountain left me speachless! I was seriously amazed at the Christmas Wonderland they created!! Not a blank spot. I wish I took more pictures and videos. Such a cute and chill Christmas spot. And the drinks... wow were they good and festive!! They go all out. Had the Christmapolitan, The Koala LalaLa, Jingle balls and the Christmasaurus. Such a fun bar a little off the strip. It's super decked out into a Christmas wonderland with holiday themed cocktails and shots. They come in the cutest mugs (which you can buy for &18-20). Nice bartenders, great live music and pizza! Dan Fester was preforming today and he was a lot of fun. He played a variety of genres and you can request songs with tip offers via a QR code. Festive December outdoor event called "Miracle on Spring Mountain" is a lot of fun! Especially when Mega Scopes is playing inside the blow up igloo, with 2 outdoor bars. It feels like a house party vibe with bands. Indoor Sand Dollar Lounge is the same divey bar with different bands lined to play. A local favorite bar with possibly some tourist/visitors brought by locals? If you're looking for another local favorite bar that is festive, try Phoenix Restaurant Bar (great food there too!). The igloo is up since October but the actual event is all of December with DJs, bands and such indoors. For the event we attended on Saturday, red solo cups are given from indoor bar. Or speciality cocktails are made indoors too in special cups. The two bars outdoor serve different drinks in clear cups, and may differ in offering beer or seltzer. Apparently, an outdoor band is not a usual occasion so it was super crowded for Mega Scopes. Free parking. It's maybe possible to find even if you park all the way to the back area. Crowd is friendly. Everyone comes with their crew. Gender Restrooms are indoors, one near each outdoor door entry to the Sand Dollar. Don't get this Sand Dollar confused with the downtown similar name bar. Most locals will know you're going here. read more

We stopped in for the annual pizza pop up series that they do every year for charity. This on was with the Wahlberg brothers. It's all decorated up for the Christmas pop up and they have all of their Christmas specialty cocktails available as well. We arrived early and grabbed a table, I ordered a beer from the bar and my girlfriend got a mystery beer from the vending machine. We waited till 6pm to order our pizzas. The pizzas came out fast and could've been cooked longer. The flavor on both were great but they were a bit doughy and underdone. My girlfriend loved meeting Mark and getting a picture. He was really nice and a down to earth kind of guy. He took time to take pictures with everyone and sign autographs. We can't wait for the rest of the pop ups. This place is a local favorite. It gives hometown vibes in the best way! They will have live music on the weekends and the bands are awesome! They have the option of gaming at the bar counter and the bathrooms are well kept. I honestly come for their wood fired pizzas and the vibes! I love ordering the one with burrata and add hot honey! It's honestly so good after a night out drinking. The crust is so crispy and fresh from the oven I usually can eat 2-3 slices! You can only order a full pizza but it's great to share w another person or 2! The bartenders are nice and they make sure you don't need anything. I always love coming to the Sand Dollar during their Miracle on Spring Mountain holiday pop up. This bar is one of my friend's favorite bars in town and it's nice to stop in periodically. I went last night for the first time this year and the decor was in the full swing. I enjoyed the holiday drinks, both flavor-wise and in terms of glassware. I may have also picked up a unicorn mug to take home. Toni was our primary bartender and she was absolutely delightful. She was super sweet and attentive, anytime we didn't see her for a while it was clear that she was helping other patrons on the other side of the bar. Drinks were pretty solid. I tried the Christmapolitan, Run Run Reindeer, and Rudolph's Replacement. All three were tasty. Glad they got rid of smoking a few years back, although we did get wafts of weed from some of the patrons. Band was OK, but I did enjoy chatting with other patrons prior to them going on. read more

That is until they got fully commercialized and decided to do themed parties, and Halloween costume competitions instead of live music and most recently they became a Christmas pop-up bar. As a result the vibe of the place changed from music enthusiasts to Instagram stories seekers, long lines at the bar with the very limited staff taking minutes to make the 'professionally developed cocktail' for each order. read more

You do need to go up to the bar to order drinks as opposed to expecting waiters to approach your table. There is also a couple of pool tables you can use as well. FUNNY and ODD thing is, I get this bartender who kind of is just BORDERLINE rude to me. Not enough to really say he's a trouble maker? Just not pleasant. Not welcoming. It's like he goes out of his way to avoid eye contact. He is maybe about 33-35 years of age. Tall. Brownish skin. Glasses. I was there about 3 weeks ago with a friend of mine. I hadn't been there since Christmas. Well I walked in and it was like he remembered me. He turned to my friend and didn't acknowledge me. She ordered the drinks, and he heard us talking about who would pay. I took my card out. He took the card. She yelled at him No No I got it. She said like 3-4x. She kept telling him to stop that she had it. He ran the card. (Not a problem with payment) and HE said NO she can get this. My friend looked at me and said "that was odd". She said to him, You heard me and you just kept going? And he shrugged his shoulders and kept it moving. I TOLD HER my experience in the past with this guy and his behavior towards me. She didn't believe me until she saw it. I'm a GREAT tipper. So that was not it from prior experience. It's cringy. I won't be back there. I won't recommend either. read more
