    Fried Mozz. Sad!
    Vivian H.

Meh. Recently checked Depalma's on our Sunday pizza rotation. Ordered fried mozz which was frozen freezer burnt sticks absolutely drowned in sauce. Threw them right in the trash. Pizza faired slightly better although incredibly bland. Had no taste! Not sure we will order again.

Large pepperoni and half pizza spinach half calzone Buffalo chicken.

Deplama's has been our go to pizza in East Haven for years. The best about this place is that it is ALWAYS consistent. We order a large pepperoni at least once a month. This is a must try!

We managed to hit Frank Pepe's and Sally's on our New England summer holiday, and Sally's was easily the best of the two. While the Connecticut style overall didn't entirely meet the massive hype for me, my daughter absolutely loved it--in fact, Sally's was her single best bite of the entire trip! The only reason it's getting 4 stars instead of 5 is that while it was very good, it wasn't earth-shattering, nor did it quite reach the heights of places like L'Industrie in NYC. We ordered the burrata pizza, half pepperoni. The sauce was packed with flavor, the burrata is always a total hit, and the pepperoni cupped perfectly to hold all those rich, flavorful oils. The crust was great--charred beautifully on the edges but a little moist and wiggly in the middle, heavily reminding me of Da Michele in Napoli. They also conveniently provide red pepper flakes, oregano, and Parmesan on the side so you can fix it up to taste. The ambiance is classic and cozy. It's a smaller establishment with booth-style tables lining both sides of the room. Because indoor seating is limited, you should absolutely expect to wait in a long line unless you plan ahead. We lucked out by timing our visit right between the lunch and dinner rush, meaning we snagged a spot in their dedicated parking lot and were seated immediately with zero wait. To top it off, the service was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The amazing staff kept us constantly updated on our pies and created a genuinely fun, happy atmosphere throughout the meal. It's easily the best pizza we had in New England!

No pizza is worth a 2+ hour wait in line wrapped around several blocks. In response to people complaining about the way the staff talks to you - its just the way they talk. Connecticut people and Italians have a natural abrasive tone that you can't take super personally. I think the vast majority of negative comments are from out of towners but as a lifelong Connecticut native, I never was a fan. Pizza is always unappetizing and tasteless. Modern any day.

It is slighly thicker than other New Haven pizzas. Oil is in sufficient quantity and tastes great. The blend of crust, tomato sauce, cheese and oil was close to perfect. They make it taste superb. I thought that one glass of soda (one liter) for $2.75 was a bit expensive. I like refills included. Generally, prices were reasonablle. Though the pizza was a five star pizza, the chicken parm was average and 3.5 star, at best. The wall was furnished with nice paintings. Wait service was good. Bathroom was clean. Plenty of parking. A good dining experience.

The place was vibrant, the staff friendly, service on point and the pizza was absolutely delectable! We ordered multiple apps and a variety of pizzas and all was fantastic! Large parking lot. I will retrurn.

The crust, flavor in each bite, the variety of toppings, and everything you want in a slice of pizza was there. It is a busy spot, but they definitely had the people to keep things pushing and our waitress was still attentive to us. We ordered a pizza with onions and hot cherry peppers as well as a margarita pizza (if a pizza place can't do a cheese pizza or margarita right, not the spot to eat). The ONLY problem I had was something was falling off the napkins, not sure what it was, and we didn't notice it until the end. It seemed to be from only one stack of napkins, but couldn't tell since it was too late by the time we noticed. If they're cheap quality napkins, definitely should replace, especially because it could have fallen all over the pizza. Again, that was the only downside, but life will go on nevertheless - and it's in a fight to take the #1 spot for pizza place in my book.

It was founded by pizzaiolo Luigi Bernardo Jr. The Bernardo Family plays a large role in Greater New Haven's rich pizza history. Family patriarch Luigi "Gigi" Bernardo immigrated to New Haven from Naples, Italy in the 1960s. In 1974, Gigi opened his own business "Gigi's Bakery" on Chapel Street where he made baked goods and pizza. The family moved the business to Grand Avenue in 1982 and they continued to operate it until Gigi's retirement in 2001. He passed away in 2009. Gigi passed down his culinary talents to his seven children (including sons Luigi Jr, Frank, and Arsenio who all became pizzaioli). Frank runs the New Haven Pizza Truck while Arsenio runs the New Haven Pizza Place. Luigi Jr continued his late father's legacy when he started his own pizza truck business dubbed "Little Italy". The truck travels around Southern Connecticut to craft delicious wood-fired pizza pies at wineries, breweries and festivals. My family and I recently tried some of Little Italy's delicious pies when we visited Rosabianca Vineyards in Northford. The winery frequently hosts pizza trucks and other food trucks on the weekends. My wife and I had previously eaten Bernardo Family-created pizzas from the New Haven Pizza Truck and New Haven Pizza Place. We were excited to try Little Italy's offerings. After looking over their menu, we decided to order and share the "Margherita" (white fresh tomato, basil and garlic) and the "Mashed Potato Bacon" (with caramelized onion). The Margherita was more of an American-style Margherita versus a Traditional Neapolitan-style Margherita, but still very good. The real star for us was the Mashed Potato Pie! The mashed potatoes had a perfect texture and the bacon and onions were so flavorful. It was perfect! Both pies had excellent crust and they paired well with our wine. We really enjoyed our experience with Little Italy and we hope to see them again!

We brought in our homemade suppi and they put it on some of our pies. We also tried the eggplant Parmesan and garlic knots. The plain pies, mashed potato, and the mangia special were my favorites but really everything there was top notch. There is nothing that I wouldn't order again. The crust is nice and crunchy. Good char on it. Sauce was delicious - not sour like straight from a can. Toppings were better than I expected for a small pizza spot. Sausage was tasty. Mushrooms were fresh not tinned, fresh tomatoes and basil. Tons of clams on the pizza. Bacon was thick sliced and left almost whole. Eggplant was sliced thin. Generous with the toppings. Even better than their pizza- is their service. It was my first time meeting them and I felt like an old friend. They were so friendly, chatted with us, told us stories -- we really had a good time. The older gentleman who brought out the food and took away the empty trays was very thorough- checked in on us regularly. Mangia Apizza is easy to miss - connected to Vick's Cafe (really it's a bar).
