Called ahead on a Saturday night to order a pizza. I ended up getting the pizza with clam, crab, and shrimp, and a stuffed bread. The woman on the phone was very nice and clear, I asked her what the stuffed bread contained and she let me know it was made to order and could be customized and she listed some options. The chicken Parmesan option sounded great to me so I went for that. She let me know it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I came 25 min later and my food was ready to go. There were a few families eating inside the restaurant and it seems very homey and cute, I'd definitely come back to eat there. I was out within 2-3 minutes after paying. Food was very hot. The pizza was good, a ton of seafood on it and tasted great. But I really liked the chicken parm stuffed bread! It was much bigger than I expected and tasted great. Will be back! read more

Since Depalma's renova- and new management- its easy to see the new owners take extreme pride in their establishment! We've been there at least half dozen times since last summer while we were moving back to CT from PA. The folks there are attentive, friendly and so accommodating! I have some dietary restrictions that are somewhat difficult to navigate all menus but the waitstaff always checks the ingredients for me and never ever makes me feel as though I'm being 'high maintenance' in ordering. I love their mini bread starters- especially with soup! They are way above average in gourmet/special order pizzas and their dinners that I have tried are very tasty(and filling)!! I haven't been here in a few years. I used to go a lot 20 years ago. It was better than before. The pizza was better than all the top rated places in the area. The mozzarella sticks were great. The garlic bread is perfect. Not that I was surprised but I was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely horrible. Ordered a sausage & pepper pizza. These slices were cut so thin they weren't even an inch wide and there was barely any sausage on the pizza which is probably why they cut it so thin. However, we definitely paid full price. A quick night out with Writer Friend for pizza, and DePalma's was right down the street from her, and has a great reputation. It was my first time there, and for a small neighborhood place in a street mall, it was very nice. We each ordered a glass of wine and the eternal question: what kind of pizza? was answered: Meatza Pizza (she usually picks pepperoni or all meat anyway). It didn't take long for our pizza to arrive. Very hot, thinner crust, full of toppings. We ordered a large, and managed to eat all but two slices. I think we left room because they had cannolis on the dessert menu, and we both wanted one. They were decent sized, with crisp shells and the filling wasn't too sweet. Service was good, and since it was the middle of the week, the place wasn't too busy, which meant we could hear the background music (all 80's hits, and a lot of tunes I haven't hear since that era). East Haven is a rapidly changing tiny strip of geography that is seeing its mid century italian dominance turning latino, and with this change the pizza joints of yore are fading to black DePalmas remains true to my childhood memories of the 70's (unlike Tollis next block ocer) with a good solid traditional Neopolitian pie. Depalma's is my favorite pizza place in East Haven. They're really friendly and whatever you want, they'll put on a pie. Their crust is nice a crispy and their pizza is never oily. Sometimes, they are a little heavy on the oregano but I have never been diaspointed in their pizza read more

I'm a big fan of Depalma's for excellent takeout Apizza. My favorite standard is trying a Pepperoni and Mushroom, and I like Depalmas better than Modern and Tolli's. The Depalmas crust is a little thinner and has some blend of spices that I prefer. I've only tried Tolli's takeout once. It was more expensive and I didn't like it as much. But I would give Tolli's, Modern, and Depalma's all five stars and rate them as top-notch New Haven-style apizza. read more

There wasnt any customers to compare her to since we were the only table at the time. She was a bit worried about what was going on with the kitchen staff .
