I've thoroughly enjoyed every single item purchased from this store. We initially came for the scones which are amazing - my favorite is the the blueberry lemon - but we tried the cherry almond this weekend, and it was out of this world! Iced cinnamon buns- glorious. Monkey bread muffins - delicious. Viennese cookies - mouthwatering. But their cheesecake loaded with berries - possibly the best I've ever tasted. If you see a line outside just hop on. A hidden gem in Spring Lake you hardly notice the building on Washington Street as you drive by. But, by all means search them out and you will be rewarded with some the absolute best pastry, cakes and cookies to be found at any bakery in New Jersey. I had heard much hype over this bakery, and recently made a trip to sample sweets for a party. Overall, yes the scones are worth the hype. Chewy, sweet but not too sweet, and perfectly baked. As for the sleeve of Macarons? Not so much. Understandably they are refrigerated, but overall the quality of taste was lacking. Likewise the petit fours had a pleasant almond taste but were not the best due to the refrigeration. I give it 3 stars for excellent scones. Everything else was okay. No matter the time of day, there never fails to be a line out the door Although it is often busy, it is well worth the wait. My go to order is a blend of chocolate chip, cinnamon crunch, and blueberry scones. Each scone is fresh, delicious, and mouthwatering. The missing star in my review stems from the efficiency of the staff. While scones and pastries are constantly rolling out of the oven, the staff is capable of catering to customers quicker. While I know they are trying their best, I believe there are ways that can cut down the wait to eat one of the Scone Pony's decadent treats. read more

Oh my GOD. I haven't had a crumb cake this good since I moved from Brooklyn, NY 30 years ago. Lords bakery was the standard for me. The Scone Pony is right there with them. I know pastries. I know how they're supposed to look, taste, and feel. I can tell when shortening is used in place of the sweet, sweet bovine nectar known as butter. I can't remember ever having tried a scone before this visit, but I'll never forget it. To be honest, when our friends suggested we stop in this place for a scone, I thought that sounded like a boring snack. I'm glad I was too polite to request ice cream instead. The place is tiny. Take three steps in and you're at the cash register, where behind the counter is a kitchen packed with busy bakers. There were about 10 different scone flavors to choose from. We tried the blueberry and mix berry scones. I loved it so much, we begged our friends to bring us back the next day to get some for breakfast. On the second visit we ordered chocolate chip, lemon poppy and vanilla bean. All so incredibly delicious, it's hard to say which I loved best. The scones are big and fresh. Get there early because certain flavors will sell out (ie. chocolate chip and lemon poppy). Also, they're only open Thursday to Sunday from 8am - 4 pm. This was life changing. Such a cute little shop! The staff were so friendly and helpful with helping me decide which goodies to take home. They had blueberry, mixed berry, and lemon poppy scones left close to closing on a Friday afternoon, and plenty of other treats as well! Flourless peanut butter cookies, flourless chocolate cookies (with nuts), French macarons, cupcakes, tarts, fudge-topped brownies and more! I ended up choosing just a lemon poppy scone and the flourless chocolate cookie, even though I really just wanted one of everything. The scone - YUM. I've never had a real homemade scone like this, fluffy and light tasting, with poppy seeds dotting the inside and a light lemon glaze over top. HUGE too! Amazing - would definitely get this again, and would love to try their other flavors next time I'm in Spring Lake! The flourless chocolate cookie was also really big by NYC bakery standards (like Financier Parisserie or Payard) and was actually thick, chewy and brownie-like in texture, in addition to the nuts, unlike other flourless chocolate cookies I've had (which are usually thinner). This place had big expectations to live up to, my friends have been saying how much they love every crumb that comes out of this place for months. Finally I had the chance to see if they lived up to the hype and they absolutely do - these are the best Scones I've had. ever. A box of four lemon poppy scones set me right, and I'm not ashamed to say I finished one off even before I got home. The shop itself is tasteful and cozy which lends itself to just the right niche for a small business like this. It also didn't hurt that the woman behind the counter was breathtaking. Came here on a sunny Sunday, the place is very small, it can get a little crowded, just know what you want. The staff is half friendly, but the food makes up for it. We ordered a blueberry scone, sweet and fresh; Croissant, very fresh & flaky. I had my first scone at a local coffee shop that was carrying their product. Amazing. Think delicious biscuit meets scone dripped in sweet syrup-frosting. The scones are light and flakey while still maintaining moisture to make for an awesome treat. I actually drove to pick these up for visiting in-laws. Shop is not easy to find, use Navi. Make sure to check their hours...closed some days. They have a strict limit on the number of scones you can walk out with, so call in large orders ahead of time. He is correct when he says it is a hidden gem as I almost missed it driving there. I came in early on st. patrick's day to pick up some cupcakes for my family. They didn't have a huge selection just yet but I ordered 3 or 4 different varieties and they were all good/bad. One was to sweet and the other was perfectly moist and another was very light and another heavy.. you get the point. I ordered macaroons for my girlfriend and had my first macaroon in the united states (She usually brings back from Paris) and I thought they were great. Sure they are no Laduree but I'll take them considering there are no good bakeries around here. Heard the scones rock so I will have to come back and try. Best bakery around here for sure (Brian S. BEST BAKERY IN THE WORLD. From their scones, to the crumb cake to the cup cakes everything is absolutely mind-blowing. Everything tastes so fresh and homemade it's as if it was made in your own home. Getting me up on a weekend before noon is not an easy task...but Scone Pony prompts me to wake up in the morning to make sure I get my scone or crumb cake before they run out. The workers are very friendly and you can see them all baking right in front of you which adds to the charm. It's a little off the beaten path but right around the corner from Bailey's Market. They don't have any tables inside because it's too small but they do have a few tables outside. read more

I came here because I was working on my own scones, and they put mine to shame. These are quintessential scones guys, crisp on the outside, buttery and tender on the inside. Dotted with different flavors, the blueberry ones were recommended and they remain my favorite of the bunch and I ordered almost all of the flavors. Keep in mind the flavors change and the times of the store opening are limited, so make sure to call in advance or prepare to arrive early or wait in line. It is worth it though. We so look forward to visiting Spring Lake so that we can visit The Scone Pony, which is always our first stop as they can sell out of their awesome scones pretty quick. Every time we come here, the line is out the door of this small place. I'm generally not a huge fan of scones, but I guess that's because I never had a great one like these. On this last visit, we got a lemon scone fresh out of the oven, and oh my, was it ever good! They have more than scones here, but this is clearly their specialty. Oh..My..God! It doesn't get any better than The Scone Pony. We searched around online for things to do and places to go before Girls Weekend and this seemed like a good idea. That is an understatement. Everything is simply beyond delicious. This cute little shop isn't open every day so check before going. The scones are huge and whether they are sweet or savory, you are sure they are the best you've ever had. "Loaded" is a good description. Bursting with berries or nuts, their confections are definitely bursting with flavor. A friend ordered a cake and tart to bring home and apparently they were delish, too. She has said that she will gladly drive from Westchester County in NY to the Jersey Shore just to get her Scone Pony fix. read more

They were absolutely delicious. Sweet but not overly so, and tangy but not too sour. The texture was where they shined however, warm, flakey, and soft with just a little crunch on the outside. I'll start by saying I don't like their scones. Too much like a muffin in the shape of a scone and too often dripping with some kind of sugar syrup. The Muffin Pony? I guess that doesn't sound right . That being said just about everything else there is good to great. Nice to be able to get a slice of their great cakes. Very good crumb cakes. Very good brownies.
