We purchased all our new window covering from the Shade Store after a remodel in in late 2022. We were over all pleased, we had a few hiccups with installation and measurements but they were eventually handled. Last week our blind (photo below) some how became tangled and is jacked up. They did schedule an appointment but it's not for 3 weeks so we have this situation. This window is located at the front of our with everyone who walks by can see directly into our whole house. As I stated before we like all of our window treatments but not super happy about the delay in repairing the blind. read more

Would recommend another company for your window covering needs. Ordered the shades on February 8th, 2024, with an installation date of March 23rd, 2024. The installer arrived on time on March 23rd, 2024. He was friendly and nice but seemed to be in a hurry to leave. While installing the first shade, he noticed the measurements were incorrect. I asked why he would install the mounting brackets if he knew the measurements were wrong. He said he would notify customer service and rectify the problem. While observing the installer, I noticed him dragging his ladder across my floors and accidentally dropping a couple of small items from the top of his ladder onto the unprotected floor. Additionally, one of the shades accidentally slid against the wall before he could catch it, leaving a small mark. After the installer finished, he left before I could really say anything. Upon inspecting his work, I noticed several areas of drywall damage, paint scuffs, pencil markings on the wall of my 3-month-old newly painted walls, incorrectly installed and damaged hardware, and another set of blinds that were incorrectly measured. I notified The Shade Store within an hour of the installer leaving. They requested photos, which I provided. I was then put in contact with their Client Experience Manager, Mariza Coyt. I was informed that the next available window measurement was Thursday, April 23rd. I was quite upset that I would have to wait another month for my windows to be re-measured and another two months or so for the corrected shades to be installed. I requested that the matter be escalated, and Client Service Lead, Davon Roach, contacted me a day later. I explained the situation, and he agreed that my experience did not meet The Shade Store's standards and apologized. We discussed the options and timeframe for resolving the situation. We agreed that The Shade Store would remeasure the shades, correct/replace brackets and chains throughout the home to address damage and operational issues, ensure proper use of anchors/screws, and perform patching and painting throughout the home related to the original installation. The only point of disagreement was who would provide the paint touch-up. I offered to provide the manufacturer and paint information so The Shade Store could order, pay for, and pick up the paint. However, Davon informed me that I would need to purchase the paint myself, and they would consider reimbursing me later. In my experience working with various vendors over many years, I have never been expected to pay upfront for repairs to damage they caused or asked victims of property damage to front the cost and maybe they'll get reimbursed. I refuse to pay upfront for repairs in the hope of being reimbursed. I am currently waiting for Davon's response regarding my suggestion of having a licensed contractor repair the damage to restore my property to its original state. This entire process has been time-consuming, and it seems The Shade Store is reluctant to take full responsibility for the situation and correct it properly and within an efficient timeframe. When choosing a window treatment provider, prioritize companies with a strong commitment to customer service. Look for one that stands behind its products and services, promptly rectifies mistakes at their own expense, and minimizes inconvenience to the customer. This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever dealt with. The person that ordered my blinds ordered the incorrect blinds and thus shipped the incorrect materials. Due to this error, they then had to re-order new blinds and set a new install date and I was expected to wait another 2-3 weeks on top of the 1+ month I had already waited. If I'm paying top dollar for professional blinds, I need them done within a reasonable time frame and executed correctly the first time. To add insult to injury, the customer service rep offered me a in-store rebate for the two incorrect blinds they sent me. I will never do business with this company again. read more

One of the worst experiences I've had with a company. 1. Shades delivered to wrong house 2. Material of some of the shades were wrong 3. All black chains were chipped 4. Measurements were inconsistent and wrong causing some of the gaps to be more than double the threshold I was told I understand that things can be done wrong and people make mistakes but to not follow through and make things right after I called in numerous times and still don't have a resolution is unacceptable. Especially when the sales lady dianna told me the customer service and follow up was excellent which is why I paid higher prices. She tried blaming it on the windows which I measured myself numerous times. Their own installer told me the shades were done wrong and would be replaced quickly. It's almost a month now and nothing has been done. The fourth or fifth time I called they said I would get a call back with resolution and compensation and again no call. We are VERY happy with the Shade Store! The quality of product is excellent and exceeded our expectations, but the customer service phenomenal! We first met with Cindy in the early stages of our kitchen remodel so we weren't exactly sure what we wanted. Cindy was very patient, professional and helpful throughout our decision-making process, which included many questions and a few different quotes. When we were ready for the install, we were able to schedule ourselves through their website-and reschedule when a conflict came up just as easily. The installation technician was equally as professional and very efficient. The shades are so well made, they filter out sun and heat but still allow you to see out. During our recent historic heat wave, the kitchen has been at least 10 degrees cooler with the shades. Worth every penny! One last comment-after we had the shades for a little over a month, we realized we wanted the chain loop on the opposite side for two of the shades (it was our mistake-not the Shade Store). I contacted Cindy for help. She opened a "post-sales case" and a couple days later I received an email to schedule an appointment -at no charge- with the technician. Logan and Steven were outstanding. Again, very professional and efficient. They were very careful removing the shades, switching the loop and making the necessary adjustments. Just as the original installation tech, they wore shoe covers, they were extremely careful not to scratch or damage the walls, windows, etc, their ladders and tools were spotless, and they didn't leave a speck of dirt or dust behind. My wife and I were fortunate to find a newly constructed home and we closed escrow in February 2022. This is likely going to be our final home purchase so we wanted to make it look nice. We ordered custom flooring and other upgrades from the builder but wanted to top it off with some nice window coverings. We happen to come across The Shade Store in Costa Mesa. Lisa at the store was very cordial and patient with us, showed us a large selection of swatches and designs to choose from, but without any pressure to make a purchase. A few months later, after we settled into our new home, we made an appointment to see Lisa again. She helped us select the final designs and made suggestions on how to lower the costs because I expressed a bit of concern about the pricing. The window coverings were installed a few weeks after the order was placed. The installer did a very professional job. When he opened the boxes and laid out all the hardware on the floor, you could see how solid and substantial each piece was, which gave me a better understanding their pricing, which was not cheap by the way. They use superior quality hardware, not what you would find at a place like Ikea. You get what you pay for. Our windows look great and well worth the money we paid. Second order from Shade Store. Thousands of dollars later, the sales person failed in numerous ways. The outcome was that half of the order has to be remade for installation. This was after numerous errors on the order that I could detect at home. The install and measurement personnel were good on both orders. The sales person, Amy, was a total fail. They had an opportunity to comp a small matter and offered nothing. I will no use them again and I suggest you look further. It has been almost a week since I issued my first complaint and still my part has not arrived. They say it is coming but my FedEx tracker says only the label has been created. I also got an email saying that I would be changed to get it fixed. Just an overall poor customer experience around issue resolution. I came back home and the part was finally at my poor step. The rep gave me the WRONG tracking number. Then I opened the box and I also asked for the missing screws to the tension mount and they sent me the wrong parts!!! Good Grief. I sent all the wrong communications to the rep Zach. Issue resolution is definitely messed up not to mention the quality control!!! What would the original founders say?! Blinds are poorly made!!! If you purchase motorized shades go with another company. Their technology and product is garbage. I purchased several motorized solar shades several months ago and have had ongoing problems since. The motors squeak and now our blinds hit the ground and keep on rolling out. The process to get them repaired is anything but streamlined. You have to call, send emails, send pics, send videos, etc etc. Then you have to wait for them to ship you parts and then wait for a technician to call you and schedule. The whole process takes about a month and is incredibly convoluted. Look elsewhere for your shades. read more

Before ordering from the Shade Store, we obtained several quotes from window covering vendors we found online, Yelp, and through Costco. However, with each quote, we were dismayed that the price for materials and installation were higher than we anticipated in our budget. When we found the Shade Store, we found their online site very helpful, with clear self-install instructions, including how to measure, swatch selections, and installation. Although my wife was hesitant for me to do the actual installation since she was familiar with my "handyman skills", I assured her that this was something I could do - and we would be saving money. After receiving numerous swatch samples and friendly follow up emails from Kym, we (including the "boss") were sold to give them a try. After measuring (and re-measuring three more times to be sure . . . ), we submitted our order through their online order form. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the whole ordering process was: from the numerous options available that were presented with accompanying pop-up explanations for each (especially for someone like me who didn't know the difference between "Roman shades" "roller shades" or blinds), to showing examples of the various patterns, designs, and solar transparencies. After a few short weeks, our shades finally arrived! Even though we had an idea of what the shades would look like from the swatch samples, seeing the actual shades surpassed our expectations. The quality of materials used in the construction were apparent. The installation process itself too was easier than expected (even for me) and the finished project scored me some major points with the wife! I am giving this low rating because of Nancy Montgomery at the Costa Mesa store. I walked in and Lisa was very helpful and gave me some helpful information. She told me to look around and that the swatches were in the drawer. I told Lisa I had 3 to 4 weeks before my downstairs remodel would be done. As I was look through the drawers to get an idea of how the fabrics actually looke,d, Nancy starts yelling and telling me I needed someone with me while at the drawers. AS IF I was going to steal those swatches or I couldn't afford them. Lisa comes over to help me and gives me more ideas.
