I started the process with Nicole at the Scottsdale Quarter location. Picked out and discussed several different options, got someone out to measure right away that I went through exactly what we wanted/what to measure for. Was told they were taking pictures of my windows so that the sales person would photoshop the curtains onto them for a better visual. Finally received the quote after having to follow up numerous times, had some revisions, and asked multiple times for these pictures that show what my curtains will look like and never got those. I still went through and ordered the curtains, paid top dollar, waited 2 months for them to be installed, for not one of the curtains to be wrong, but BOTH of them. I was then told by the installer that someone would be reaching out by the end of the day to give me an ETA on the corrected curtains. No one did, and I am now I am fighting to even just get a response from the sales person. Reached out to corporate and they said they don't give out managers information - what a joke! I had other areas I was going to add on throughout the house based off the experience I had with the first install to see if the premium price you pay is worth it. IT IS NOT! Go somewhere else. Buyer beware! The absolute worst experience!!! If you have any warranty issues, they will not A. get it done in a timely fashion, or B. care to do so at all after a while. We are going into our 3rd year, and we still don't have all our issues complete. We haven't had a response from them in over 2 months, and their last response gave us no resolution. We are at a complete loss of how to finish our warranty issues. Technically we are out of warranty. That is how long it has been. I would never wish this experience even on my worst enemy. Design was a nightmare; install was a nightmare and now warranty is a nightmare. I cannot tell you how many times we have met with a technician, emailed our issues, emailed with senior reps, etc... nothing works!!!!! Not one redeeming quality of this company! We played nice for way too long and now I wish I would have posted bad reviews a couple years ago to warn others. read more

The Shade Store leads you to believe you're getting a premium product but the quality and customer service tell an entirely different story. As many others have said they process of installation and delivery is still not complete and we're almost 9 months after purchase. The products have defects that the company says they are unwilling to stand behind as it's normal wear and tear, when the shades are breaking down after less than 9 months? The customer service experience is a game of hot potato where you are passed along from one person to another without any resolution, wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. Unscrupulous business practices. They push for the sale to get a discount on a $25k order. They make you pay for everything upfront including installation. They make the product and ship the dirty boxes directly to your home for you to store. I had 7 or 8 separate deliveries. I have been storing the blinds for 6 weeks. This eliminates them having a warehouse. Reducing their costs. They scheduled a delivery date and then with less than 24 hours notice changed the date that sadly did not work for me. Then they did not show up or call when they were scheduled for the second delivery date. I took down all my temporary shades and cleaned the windows for their arrival. Now the soonest they can come out is a week later. I asked for a refund for my installation fee and they need to schedule an appt with a manager to discuss This company is totally for themselves and they do not respect their customers. Run don't walk away from this business. read more

Our experience at the Shade Store has been abysmal. We placed our initial order (over $16k) in May and are still dealing with issues....here's a list of them: - Fabric for all Roman shades and curtains back ordered, which was not originally communicated - Roller shade arrived damaged, had to be replaced - Incorrect measurements on the Roman shades and curtains in the bedroom (had to be remade so we went weeks with only one curtain panel on our bedroom French door) - Poor design in bedroom Roman shades - chain was in the front instead of the back so it looked like a total mess - was reordered - Installer missed removing the locking mechanism on the Roman shades so we went months with a cumbersome roll up and roll down - Ongoing scheduling confusion (the installer last week put the Roman shades since the curtain hadn't arrived yet; curtain arrived but our appointment for that was canceled) - Going weeks without a covering on the bedroom door due to incorrect measurement - Everything is still wrinkled - installer last week told me to wait 4-5 more weeks before we could steam (it's been 5 weeks and now nobody will respond) - Right Roman shade in the bedroom is already broken / only raises on one side - Nobody from customer service will respond when I try to get an appointment scheduled for the Roman fix and steam. Our salesperson has been radio silent since we signed the contract. The one bright spot is Patrick - he's done an incredible job on installation every time he's been to our house and was very quick to address issues caused by team members. I wish the rest of the company operated in the same fashion. To sum up: this experience has been anything but luxury and convenience. It was far easier for me to purchase two pages curtains on Amazon (I ended up doing this for two large living room windows when I didn't want to spend an additional $8k) and having a handyman install - and they look way better to boot (no wrinkles, which I wish I could say about my shade store curtains). Total nightmare - RUN, don't walk. When we finally got our product after months of dealing with a crabby and rude sales person, the installer (singular) showed up at the very end of the appointment window. My husband had to assist with lifting- how is this professional? Send a full team or reschedule! The install took twice as long as scheduled and the chains were installed incorrectly. After months of back-and-forth with the sales person, we still don't have blackout- either due to faulty measuring or installation. Don't be fooled by the slick marketing materials. My review is based on pricing only as I did not get further with them due to their offensively expensive pricing. The quote I received was for sheers and curtains for a bedroom sliding door. They came to my house and measured the sliding door and offered me some samples of fabrics for free, then 3 weeks later they came back at me with an $8,000 price quote for a single sliding door in my bedroom. I reached out and received quotes from 4 other local companies and The Shade Store was the most expensive quote by far. Needless to say, I gave the project to another company. Gave them 2 stars instead of 1, because they came to my house for free to measure the sliding door. read more

I moved into a new house in Santa Fe, therefore I didn't have the benefit of visiting the showroom in person. It would have been easier if I could have seen the shade mock ups and larger samples, plus consult on my numerous window treatments face to face, but that was not an option logistically. Julie Yelanich was the design consultant who helped me remotely. She sent me loads and loads of fabric options and references. She advised on how to narrow those down to achieve the look I wanted and explained the nuances of each treatment, and was always available to discuss it all. The customer service I experienced is what made me a loyal customer, Julie went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with the finish product and was a pleasure to work with. read more

They were very helpful in the showroom but after that it was downhill. I ordered 6 shades. Only 5 were delayed and installed. They messed up somehow. They said "they opened a case" but provided no further information. My requests for information and how they will make this right have been returned with silence. It's been a month since the screwup and I have no idea when this will be done. I cannot recommend this business especially with the prices they charge. read more

We ordered three blinds for installation. In each instance, there have been product issues and missing parts that have required more than five service visits. Throughout our interaction, various individuals reminded us that The Shade Store is a family-owned business and that we should expect top-quality and top-notch service. That has not our experience. Our sales representative assured us that a senior executive from the company would call to discuss our many problems; that never occurred. After repeated interactions with the company's customer service department, we have been offered partial-refunds on installation charges. It is hard to believe that this is a simple series of mistakes. Ask the right questions about your installation and service before you place an order with this company. Ordered shades and curtains costing more than $12,000. As it turns out, although the shade store "experts" came out and measured for the shades, they neglected to mentioned that the windows in question already had fully functioning shades and went ahead and made new ones and charged for them anyway. Even more egregious was the fact that the curtains they installed fell down less than 24 hours later. It has now been 14 days and nothing other than, "we are working on it and it will be done in a week." Worst service and installation ever. read more

The Shade Store made the process of updating our window treatments really seamless. Julia (Scottsdale Quarter Locations) was especially helpful in advising us on our design. She was also amazing at following up on communications throughout the entire process. When one of the shades came with a manufacturing defect, she immediately ordered us a replacement, no questions asked. If I could give Julia and the Shade Store 10 stars I would. Don't waste your money! $4000 for 6 shades. Paid top dollar. Professionally measured by Shade Store, 5 shades gap on both sides by over 1-1/2inches, the 6 shade gaps over 2 inches on both sides, 1 mechanism for remote installed broken & the fabric was discontinued. They offered to replace with new product of my choice at 10% discount. Whoopee! Oh by the way, they are currently promoting 20% off to everybody. I can only recommend you RUN, RUN, RUN as far away as you can from this business. read more

What a frustrating experience! I ordered shades for 2 large living room windows and 2 bedroom windows. I paid a premium price and received terrible service and follow up. The wrong shades were delivered, they were installed incorrectly in the living room. When I asked the installer to rehang he said he was out of time to rehang them but they could be fixed when the correct shades came-took two more weeks The bedroom shade literally fell apart and the finishing pieces fell to the floor The installer that came to repair them said Kathy (salesperson) sold me an inferior product and they could not be repaired. Just finished my shade project...two months after my first contact with the store. Thank god it's over! First thing to note is this is a high end store in Scottsdale Quarter--it's not Sears or a mom & pop store--so I had high expectations for customer service and product quality. While I liked what I ordered, I had numerous issues with communication from the sales rep I was working with. Emails not getting returned actually lead me back to the store to work with someone else. But, of course that wasn't smooth sailing either. After a two week wait, my product was delivered and during the install we discovered she ordered the wrong thing and we had to start all over. All in all, I felt they didn't let me know their process (I was quite surprised to have 15 ft boxes delivered to me and to have to get those in my house myself), they were not responsive to emails, and a project that should have taken 2 weeks took 2 months. The only reason I don't give them fewer stars is their installers were super nice and their products are beautiful and high quality. BUT they really make you suffer to get their shades installed. read more

I completed the sale online and found the process a little confusing but Janet walked me through the process. I was skeptical about receiving custom drapes in the mail. I was very surprised when they arrived. As promised and wrinkle free. The drapes are absolutely stunning. The installers were very professional. I will order again. I worked with Kathy Connolly at the Shade Store in Scottsdale, AZ. She was beyond helpful. I went to the store one time and was able to pick out sun screen shades and window treatment for all our rooms. A technician came to our home several days later and measured all the windows. I delayed ordering the shades as I thought I was going to be out of town for several months. Unfortunately, health issues prohibited me from returning. Kathy made arrangements to have the window shades installed in my absence. I just returned from our AZ home and saw the results first-hand. Spectacular! Customer service is AMAZING! Unfortunately product, installation and sales teams could use work. We ordered a roman shade and added a fabric liner. No one informed us that adding a liner would create pinholes in the fabric we chose (lovely patterned linen) where the liner and shade mechanisms were attached. Sales should be informing customers so expectations are set and they're not disappointed in the product. We also had an unfortunate experience with our first installer (White Gloves) who didn't center the shade, left screws sticking out from trying to force it flush with the frame. Called customer service and they immediately ordered another shade and contacted another installer. Second shade arrived and had a large pull in the front of the fabric that should have been caught in production. Again, customer service ordered a replacement without any questions. Third shade arrived and had another pull in the fabric. *Sigh* Customer service, AGAIN, saved the day and this time refunded our money. I have 2 Chilewich shades in my kitchen and wouldn't hesitate to order those again. Next time I'll skip the overpriced and sloppy install. read more
