Have been eating here for 2 years. 12 months ago I would have given 5 stars.They have always had excellent garlic sauce and fatoush salads. Used to have delicious tender lamb and moist chicken. We usually order take out around 4:30 pm, Well before any busy time they may have. Last three orders have been smaller portions and the quality has plummeted. Just finished my last meal. Lamb was literally dry over cooked crumbs and my wife's chicken was about the same. I am very sad to say that I wont return. R.I.P. Sheik. read more

Service - I am not going back ever again (I asked if I can get the garlic sauce that they serve with the entree before hand with the bread. The waiter said NO!!! Never got in the front door. Haven't been inside since it was La Shish. Used to really enjoy La Shish's food and presentation at this location, Dearborn, and 12 Mile. Peeked through the front door to have a look but couldn't see much through the greasy finger prints and smudges on the door's glass. Gross! First impression means alot. If a restaurant can't keep a clean outward appearance what's that say for cleanliness in the kitchen. Details do matter. Not suprised that an earlier poster may have been rendered sick from food at this place. The dirty front door was enough to turn me away. We stopped by here for a carry out quick lunch. Ordered chicken shawarma and fries. I have had plenty of these sandwiches at other places, but ours tasted nasty. I went on Saturday at 11:30 am. W a friend who doesn't eat that food at all. So I thought what a great time for an experience. Love their hummus!!! My friend ordered a shawarma sandwich. So the waiter wrote shawarma dinner. We could not get him to come to our table to explain we wanted a sandwich not dinner. 20 minutes later he came back. He was put out. Irritated w us. So then he took it back. Wrapped it into two sandwiches. We only wanted one. But he refused to work w us. Then we took a bite and it was full of pickles. The waiter again would not come back to the table. We said yuck it's full of pickles. He said that's how it comes. I said I don't want it. Never got one w pickles before. Its great to have a good Arabic restaurant so close to my house so I dont have to drive all the way to Dearborn, everytime I go here they are fast, friendly and the food is always delicious! I am very picky about my food as I am Lebanese and trust me this food is authentic....THeir Lamb is always fresh and cooked perfectly...I highly reccomend it! read more

We just got home from eating there the first time. My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Since we hadn't eaten there before, we decided to stick to food we were familiar with. Next time we will be more adventurous. My husband ordered kafta and asked for it to be cooked medium rare to medium and was pleasantly surprised when it came just as ordered. After dining at this restaurant for almost 2 years... I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!! I ordered the Vegetarian Platter and my salad had a dead fly in it. When I called to notify the restaurant an Arab woman answered the phone and actually stated, "WE DON'T HAVE FLIES!" and acted as if I was the problem per her statement "WELL THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE". I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because ALL RESTAURANTS HAVE FLIES because flies could care less where they dine... HOWEVER the fact that I had to ask the Arab woman why she acted as if she had a problem when I was the person who almost ate a fly I REFUSE TO EAT HERE EVER AGAIN. It occurred to me that I have never written a review for one of my favorite restaurants! How could I ever forget The Sheikh?! My family loves middle eastern food and we've tried plenty in the area, this place tops them all by far. It's a small place kind of hidden off of ford rd. We enjoy dining in but they seem to do a lot of take outs as well. My boyfriend and I usually chow down on their warm pita bread and super delicious and garlicky garlic butter. It's addicting. I almost always order their lamb shawarma. It's amazing. The lamb is seasoned perfectly and the portions are extremely generous. They do their hummus right too. So creamy and flavorful. My dinner comes with choice of soul or salad. I get the salad, it's always fresh and the dressing is delicious. My boyfriend always opts for the lentil soup, he loves it! Really I can't say enough great things about his place. If you're in the mood for middle eastern and you haven't given this place a try, you are missing out! read more

Chicken dishes are some of the best I've ever had regardless of price or type of food. It's that good. Hummus and garlic sauce is a must have. Even the rice is awesome. Greek salad good, not great would be my only small complaint. We get this place catered every time we have a party or need food for more than 8 people. Everyone raves about it. I'm visiting family and needed to feed eight. The owner/manager was very friendly- recommended the party platter (which saved us a bunch of money). Everything about it was delicious and perfectly cooked. My party ran the gamut from picky eaters to buffett professionals, and everyone was satisfied by the meal. Excellent food, fast service, great prices, huge portions! I absolutely love this place!!! Their meat is always slow cooked and juicy. This is authentic arab food and it's halaal. This is my first time on yelp and the only reason I signed up is to review this place. My husband and I are new to the area and accidently discovered this place while driving along the street. We have since gone back multiple times and have even brought family visiting from out of state to this gem of a place and everyone absolutely loves the food and the portions (which are huge by the way so you don't have to cook the next day:). The food was excellent (and I grew up in Dearborn so I know good mediterranean food) the Chicken Schwarma was absolutely delicious, tasted home made, the Tabouli (sorry for my horrible spelling) tasted fresh and delicious just enough lemon, and since I had never tried their humous before the owner gave me a decent amount of a free sample! Look no further for awsome Middle Eastern food. Was driving out to Dearborn until we found this place. The food is GREAT!!! Homemade and very big portions. I have been going here for years. We recently had a huge dinner party of 15 people at the Sheikh and the staff went out of there way to stay open passed business hours for us. The food was incredible. We always get the deboned chicken it is the best I've had at any middle eastern restaurant by far and I live in Dearborn! If you haven't tried this place I highly recommend it. The staff is always friendly and nice, great food, good prices. Definitely a hidden gem in Canton. read more

Used to like this place a lot, then one shining day their food made me and my wife sick, very sick. Sick enough that she had to go to urgent care and I ended up going to the doctor to get checked out, I ended up on meds and the sickness continued for about 3 weeks after and we are not talking just a normal I got the flu sick, we are talking throwing up a everyday and never leaving the bathroom type of sick. Sandwiches are a mediocre and the Shawarma sandwiches are dry. Salad used to be much more flavorful now it lacks basic salt among other flavors. However deboned chicken is fantastic and truly the best around. I took stars away for two reasons: they make you pay for garlic when competitors throw it in for free and subbing tabbouli for the fattouch salad cost more money. I was told by the manager woman who is always there that they have to pay for garlic and tabbouleh cost more to make so customer needs to pay. Well we don't - all we do now is drive a mile up the road to get free garlic, no charge for tabbouleh and free salsa with more moist sandwiches. Oh and if you get any meals to go from this restaurant be sure to ask for plasticware and napkins as they do not include them (costs money I know!). I always ask for both before I leave and we got one fork a piece when our 2 meat and chicken dinners clearly needed knives Wonder if the owner realizes it costs them money losing customers over things like this? read more
