I took my girlfriend here for brunch as part of her weekend birthday celebration. The interior is cool and clean, the staff is fast and professional, and the mimosas have the right amount of kick. My meal, the ramen with porkbelly, at the recommendation of our server, really hit the spot. The noodles and bok choy were fresh, as well as the pickled egg, and the porkbelly was tender and amazing. The dark roast coffee even complemented the dish well. For dessert, my girlfriend and I shared their chocolate dipped pretzels in caramel ice cream. Very disappointed in an establishment that allows their staff to park where it is interrupting other businesses. There are plenty of parking spots further away from those businesses. Since I have to park further away to access SmashBurger, and PetSmart to I will not support this business. Inform your staff to park to not inconvenience other shoppers. Eating at the Shelby brought joy to my heart. This place is definitely on my Top 10 list after visiting just once. It ranks highly across the entire board - in Customer Experience, Taste, Selection, Quality and VALUE. It checks all the boxes for me. I have no complaints, but if I was forced to make a critique, I'd be nitpicking to say the braised short rib meal felt like it was missing something - although I can't quite put my finger on what else might work (perhaps add something herbaceous, a green note, or a crunchy little something... maybe/I dunno). But, still, it stands alone as one of the tastiest and most tender short rib dishes I have ever eaten as-is. The people who complained about the menu being too limited must be cut from a different cloth than me. Perhaps the complainers were more accustomed to eating at places like cheesecake factory or NJ diners, which have too many choices in my opinion. (But, no shade to CF or diners; they're good for whatever they're worth...) The Shelby menu is just different from anything I've seen before. Call me pretentious, but it feels like a slight work of art expressed by someone must be very adventurous and/or, presumably, who'd be called a budding food-genius. Very small example: that blueberry lemon chip ice cream... which was flippin AWESOME! I would've never thought of putting THOSE flavors together, but it just works. A better example: kudos to a well-developed sauce in the hominy, which tasted flavorful surprisingly and its a "side dish"... Clearly there's a deep respect for good ingredients and a standard of excellence at the Shelby. Angie, my server, helped sweeten the overall experience with her super cool disposition, and she provided great feedback to my questions about menu items. Note to chef: Please never change the recipe for The Shelby Cheesesteak. It's perfection. I'm impressed by your impeccable attention to detail in every dish, including the sides. Your menu options are eclectic and you push food forward. I hope this kitchen and serving staff continue to "go hard in the paint" for The Shelby to survive many years of success. And, pardon my ebonics, but it feels like yall's entire team is strong AF! The local food industry can learn a thing or two from the talents holding up the fort at The Shelby. If you're looking for inventive drinks, lots of beers on tap, good food, and great service, this is a good place! We've been here a few times and like it. The hummus is great and so are the taro chips for apps. Their apps and drinks are the stars- I've yet to find an entree that I love since they took my fav salad off the menu but I hope it's back in the spring/ summer. I feel it's a bit pricy but very good. We've had times the beer menu wasn't up to date but that's really the only complaint. read more

They have a huge bar inside and lots of seating for many groups of all sizes. I came with a large group of 14. I made a reservation a week in advanced and they were able to accommodate me and my group. It wasn't a secluded section however we did not feel like we were in the middle of the restaurant. Our waitress was great she was able to accommodate all I needs and remember very well all the different groups and splits that we had. I was a little sad because the brunch menu online was only available on Saturdays and Sundays and we came on a Friday:-(. 4/10/21 I really enjoyed The Shelby and the fact that they take reservations. My brother and his wife have been there in the past and recommended it. Our server, Jenny, was friendly and pleasant. When we went there were brunch offerings, sandwiches and starters too. My brother ordered the poutine, that was french fries, pickled onions, peppers in a cream sauce with shredded pork. I tasted it and it was very good. I opted to get the sweet potato waffle with chicken thigh, jam and bacon. I really loved my meal and it was very filling. My brother ordered the pork and grits and there was barely any pork in his so that was disappointing. I really liked the restaurant and the experience. I would definitely go back but I felt the prices were a little on the high side. The quality was definitely there for sure and I know with businesses getting crushed by our draconian lock downs, prices have had to go up. Our server, who was the bartender was great! She gave great recommendations and took the time to explain a few items on the menu! Really enjoyed this restaurant. We were passing through on our way home from Hershey. Very accommodating when they were so busy. We were looking for a seat at the bar but everyone was enjoying themselves and hanging out . The ladies at the podium made arraignments for us to sit at a high top by the bar. My sister and I found this gem on a whim on the way home from CHOP to Rochester, NY. It looked cute and the menu options had something for everyone. When we got there we were greeted and offered inside or outside seating. At the time is was nice to be outside, but kind of gloomy. Our waiter was VERY nice. He answered all of our questions- including the weird ones like, "What happens if it rains?" He said, "We would panic! Just kidding! We'd bring you all inside..." and then told us all about the renovations coming to the venue. He was pleasant and kind. I wish I could remember his name. Ashton? I don't know. The last visit after enjoying a great veal ragu pasta dish and beer I thought I'd end with a scotch. Ok I have to say. I buy scotch. And I expect to pay more at a restaurant.
