My wife stopped in today, and apparently after reading the below reviews was helped by the "older lady". She asked if they carried Birkenstock sandals, as that is what her podiatrist recommended. She was told no, and the woman then went back to doing what she was doing and ignored her. In these times you really want to help small business, but to drive 40 miles out her way for atrocious service? No, thank you. Should have read the reviews first. Excellent, executive, treatment by the Shoe Buckle staff for me and my Standard Poodle Mobility Service Dog, Pilot Sully. I bought three pair of beautiful shoes and boots. I feel liberated to once again be able to wear these new balance sneakers. Because I cannot lace up my shoes due to very severe arthritis, I am happy to be using HICKIES no lace system. This makes it possible to slide my sneakers on and off easily! And my boots too. I am particularly impressed with my boots. They are a beautiful shade of brown, ankle high and completely waterproof. read more

The store has a good selection of comfortable shoes. However, the sales person was VERY pushy trying very hard to convince me to buy more than I wanted...it didn't work. Then, when I was checking out he asked me for name, address, phone number. I declined. He became very pushy again and tried to convince me that it's very important that I give him the information. I repeatedly declined until he gave up. It was a very unpleasant experience. I don't think I'll be back. read more

So I visited the establishment and initially was helped by (Rob). I was told by the other male employee that he was the 3rd generation owner of this shoe store. The positive is that Rob was polite and helpful however, the other employee sells with a chip on his shoulder that almost caused me to walkout for the 2nd time. I returned only because of the treatment I received from the owner and because I didn't want to order from the internet (trying to support local business). My experience with the other employee was FAR LESS THAN STELLAR and only time will tell. Should have been a 4-5 star review, instead one and done. read more

I have purchased shoes for years when I worked. Was looking for a dark gray dress shoe one evening. Had a young lady who showed me a pair of shoes lighter gray. I said I think they are too light gray. She insisted if they were not the correct color just bring them back. Well, gave her a check and took them home. They were too light gray so the next evening I took them back for a refund since they didn't have any other gray shoes. Apparently the owners were there. A man and his wife. He saw I paid with a check and started swearing and yelling at me. He said it was a scam and he should just keep the check and the shoes. He had not deposited my check and I said fine just give it back to me. Nothing but yelling and swearing at me about some scam??? The wife kept telling him to stop it. I got my check back Finally. This is actually zero stars. Bought a great pair of New Balance sneakers for $149 in March. Five months later, a hole developed on the top of the left shoe - the threading was unravelling. I checked the New Balance site which directs customers with product problems back to where they bought the shoes. The aggressive and patronizing salesman at The Shoe Buckle told me it was because of my toenails and when we put the shoe on they could see that my toes did not hit or rub that area of the shoe. So they just told me there was nothing they could do and refused to take any responsibility for the product they sell - in the salesman's own words "We won't be able to get anything back from the manufacturer." Rather than try to meet me even halfway and earn a loyal customer, they advised going to a shoe repair shop to have the hole sewn up. Thanks for nothing, Shoe Buckle. read more

If you get one of the male salesmen you're in good hands. Unfortunately, if you get the older lady you will feel like you are annoying the heck out of her. I went to The Shoe Buckle late last March to buy a pair of walking shoes (as I explained to the salesman, I walk about 4 miles per day). The salesman seemed attentive to my needs, and he recommended the Mephisto M shoe. I paid $264: a lot of money, but for a very good shoe, I thought. By late July, the soles had worn down so much that the shoes needed resoling. I continued walking in them, but by late August, one sole had a hole in it, and I just had to stop. I feel that I should not have been sold these expensive shoes as Walking Shoes. I went back to the Shoe Buckle and explained how unhappy I was to have spent so much money for only five months of use. I asked whether they could do anything for me. I felt that I got no sympathy. The salesman said, "I owe you nothing." He also said, "No one can tell you how long shoes will last." For the money I paid, I wish I had been persuaded to buy shoes that would give me much more lasting value. I know that Mephisto can resole the shoes for $90 (normal shoe repair stores can not resole them), but I see little point in paying Mephisto to resole the shoes, since that $90 will apparently give me only four or five more months of use. read more

I have had a long history with this store, for twenty six years i have been shopping there. One day I bought a black shoe and the colour came off on my feet (I wore them at home to get comfortable in them before a long trip abroad). I did not take them to the trip and returned them to the store, at the first opportunity i had upon my return. You would think I had scammed the store owners , by the attitude i received. After my persuading them and begging them they agreed to give me a store credit for 500 dollars. Mind you, no apology for the shoe being defective and the trouble of coming back to the store. The saga continues. the older man- the previous owner- sold me shoes that did not fit well, they were on sale and maybe he wanted to get rid of them? this is my fault for not testing them more in the store. I wanted to use up my credit and be done with these rude owners. They did agree to stretch the shoes for me but this had to be done THREE different times. Rob, the owner, has his favourite customers and if they are in the store- you are out of luck, you can stand there until YOU ask to be helped. Customer service was rushed, even rude at times. At these prices, and a no return policy, I will continue to go to Nordstrom's and never go back to this awful store. They have some nice shoes but on average I saw most shoes in the mid-$300 range. I have been to this store many times and have experienced poor customer service. read more

I have been buying shoes at the Shoe Buckle in Hightstown NJ for years now and always trusted the owner but recently he talked me in to buying a pair of boots for 450.00 in which they did not have my size so he said he would order my size and have them shipped to me. I pointblank told him I was not comfortable with that and asked what if they do not fit and he said "don't worry about it I will give you your money back" The boots arrived not only with a flaw but also hurt my feet terribly so I sent the boots back to him only to be called and told they would not give me my money back but only a store credit. He knew very well I do not live near there in factI love across the country in California and would have never consented to buy the boots if he told me I would get a store credit instead of my money back. There is nothing worse than a salesman that lies to you and even worse that he is the owner. Be very careful if you shop there and don't let him talk you in to buying something they do not have in your size. read more

Unfortunately the customer service was great when I went to buy 1 pair but instead bought 3. But out of the 3 sandals, 1 sandal was not good for my feet as I have a condition and it aggravated the pain. But unfortunately, there is no return or exchange or store credit or any solution. I will not be going there again. I wrote off almost $300 as a mistake and will NEVER buy shoes which can't be returned or exchanged and are that expensive. Lesson learnt the hard way. I gave 2 stars because the other 2 pairs are comfortable. read more
