Dawn and Erin were incredibly helpful in getting a gun registration transfer completed. Another gun dealer in the area was either unwilling or incapable to do the transfer. I called on a Thursday and spoke with Erin. She was incredibly kind, thorough, and helpful. Came in the very next day and Dawn took over an hour with myself and my wife to complete our gun transfer. Future business will be coming here. Mom and pop stores are worth your consideration! Their knowledge and service far surpass that of the corporate store. read more

I have been to many gun shops so I am used to the typical gun store clerk. I have never had a problem getting service at this shop. Sometimes it takes a bit longer depending on how many patron are in at the time. These guys all have alot of knowledge and dont mind sharing it. If one guy doesnt know the answer he always passes it on to the next guy. Prices are average but they always have a good selection of Law Enforcement only guns. Plus they give me the Glock LEO discount. Cant really complain especially since they have the gun truck and raffles a couple times a year. read more

They must train their employee's to be condescending. My Father would drag me there when I would visit him. I hated going because of their attitude. It's as though you're bothering them for trying to buy something. Im looking to buy a Aimpoint optic with magnifier I found it at The Shootist for a good price so I went in today to buy it. Stood around for 20 mins there was one employee helping a customer and four more standing around I could not get any one to help me they were to busy drinking their coffee. So I went to Bass pro the set up cost me an extra $65 (Total cost $983.00) I hate lazy people. It sucks because I live in Murrieta but I will never shop here again read more

I truly believe that if a company has a great product, great service or great policies it is our duty to tell everyone about (it / them). I've been looking for ammunition for weeks and every store I go to is out. Today I stopped into "The Shootist" and found very helpful & friendly employees, I also found ammunition. They have ammunition because they are limiting each customer to 100 rounds. As they told me "they want to make sure everyone gets some". Guess what, I got some. Totally great policy!!! Lol I couldn't agree more with Sandy S, I know exactly who she is talking about. I've seen that guy ignore his fellow co-workers along with multiple customers so I guess you shouldn't feel too bad. This shop has a great selection of firearms and helpful staff. My interest is in antiques and reproductions of antiques and they are one of the few shops familiar with them. They even have a gunsmith who can work on my Merwin-Hulberts. You don't find an awful lot of those! read more

Very Helpfult, i had a issue with weapons i had brought to Cali, during my PCS move here. Erin went out of her way to get me the correct paperwork to file. And even helped me get the process spend up. due to training i'm Constantly in and out of the state. Randy is ever knowledgable i was looking at a derringer for my pregeant girlfriend. Their customer service/support and technical knowledge of firearms is outstanding. The people who work the counters are subject matter experts with their product lines. Gun smith services are the best, just yesterday dropped in on their gun smith (Bill) with a malfunctioning safety on an old High Standard auto pistol and he fixed it right then and there, and didn't charge a dime. Now that's customer service! Ever since finding "The Shootist", I've purchased all of my firearms from them and so have my shooting buddies. Prices may be a little higher than the big name stores (i.e. Bass Pro Shop, Cabela's, Big Five, etc.); however, you more than make up for that with their customer service and product knowledge. read more

I think it was the owner I dealt with last time who was a jerk. he was an old, grey haired and arrogant who really didn't want to answer a simple question where the 22 revolvers where. he gave me busy leave me alone looks as he answered. he looked busy, but that is no way to treat customers. This used to be the only gun shop in the area for a long while. Others are popping up now, and I patronize them. Why, although the selection is nice, the staff is absolutely horribly arrogant! You walk in and nobody will give you a second look. I thought they were in the business of selling product, guess not. I've bought several guns from them and each time was the same service; unfortunately there was no where else close by.....until now. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in ready to buy something; hoping their attitude would change. Then bam! There it is. I walked out money in hand. There are two local shops in Temecula now; they might not have the selection, but if you know what you want, it'll be ordered in a few days; you need to wait anyway so what's the difference? I bought a Springfield XD from them during their last parking lot event. The employee I unfortunately had help me seemed to have a permanent frown glued to his face. This guy seemed very put out about having to help me and he made the whole purchasing process very awkward. That was my first hand gun purchase and I wish I could have given my business to another company. I recently went back to browse and buy ammo and guess who helped me... That same jerk from about a year ago. Needless to say I will never go there again because I've never felt like more of an outsider than when I'm shopping at The Shootist. read more

I bought my mossberg shotgun form them because they were offering me a better price than the stores in orange county. The staff was extremely helpful with the paper work at the time of purchase and even opted that I pay half now and half at the time of pickup after the 10 day waiting period. I called them the day before the pickup date to make sure my gun would be ready for pickup and the person on the phone assured me that it would. When I got to the store they informed me that UPS had delayed the shipment and hence they didn't have the gun today. I mentioned to them that it would have been nice if they had called me about it as I drove all they from OC. At this point the owner stepped forward and offered me any of the guns on the rack at the cost price. Intent on buying the mossberg I politely refused. He then offered to give me $100 worth of shotgun ammo for free which I gladly accepted. Overall I was annoyed at the lack of care shown over the phone but their in store staff was extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. They did not act rude or condescending (as is the case with most gun stores in california for some reason). Yes I did have to catch the staff's attention to help me out instead of them greeting me but I don't find that bothersome at all. This is a gun store not a Bestbuy. It irks me when the staff is nosy and keep asking you if you need anything. If i need assistance I am not shy to ask for it myself. read more

It's a nice store and they were helpful special ordering my guns. What made me not to go back in the future is their customer service. I had two interactions with Dawn and both times she was very rude. The first time she acted like I was putting her out to help me then in the middle of me asking a question she rolled her eyes. I went in to buy some rounds for myself and my wife, because we are learning to shoot and the man teaching us was has fire arms just said to buy ammo. When I got there seemed like everyone was being helped then an older man with a whit gotee "helped" me. He was rude with a smart remarks "oh great last thing America needs is another person that knows nothing about guns" when all I asked for of they had hand gun ammo behind the counter. They usually have some cool older guns, but the customer service is a zero and the prices really aren't great. The guy behind the counter was an older who acted as though helping me was a serious burden on him, and treated me and my buddy as if we knew nothing about firearms. I went to The Shootist to shop for my first firearm after realizing that there aren't any good places to shop for guns in Hemet. So after reading reviews on a few different places in the Murrieta Temecula area I decided to stop into The Shootist and see how it went. I was greeted almost immediately by Bob who reminds me a lot of my hunter/fisherman Uncle, a bit gruff at first, but actually a knowledgeable and helpful guy. He was patient with me, since I had an idea of what I wanted but still had some questions. I appreciated his no nonsense sales approach, letting me dictate what to look at rather than cramming a dozen different guns with a ton of different options down my throat at once. He pinpointed my interests and helped me find a gun within my budget. I'm very pleased at how efficient the whole process was. Buying your first firearm can be intimidating but at The Shootist they cater to your needs and make you feel comfortable and welcome. This will be my go to gun shop for all my future firearm purchases. I recommend anyone whether a first time buyer or an experienced gun aficionado to stop in and check out this big little store! read more

Bought a Beretta Over & Under Shotgun for $3400 and I felt like I was talking to a brick wall during the sales process. Just to see if my observations were correct, after the 10 day waiting period I just walked into the door and produced my pickup receipt and I did not say a word just like I was treated when I was originally looking at several shotguns in the $3k to $4k range. The employees also never said a word to me and I walked out of the place with my new shotgun without uttering a single syllable to me as I walked out. What a joke of a place to do business with. It was the most disappointing experience that I have ever had while spending that much money as maybe I did not have the 'look', but I can assure you that as being from Texas & Montana my current collection far exceeds their wildest expectations. This business just lost tens of thousands of dollars of my money on their probable assumption that I did not fit their gun buyer profile. Guess again and good luck on your little shop. I hope that you enjoy being ignorant to the buying potential of the clients that walk into your place of business because it will cost you plenty. read more

Very impressed with this gun shop. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with our purchase. We purchased a handgun from them the other day and were also interested in purchasing a shotgun but we werent sure which one to get. What impressed us was they discussed options and tried to educate us but didn't push the sale at all, and advised to test out which one we wanted before committing to a purchase. Compared the to all the other gun shops in the valley they have the best selection and most amount of services available to gun owners. But they have the worst customer service. It takes for ever to get help from anyone in the store. You could spend 45 minutes waiting and not get any help. I tried to buy a 1911 and waited for 30 minutes before I gave up. I was next in line and saw other people just randomly getting that arrived after me. Go to the other gun shops, they will at least acknowledge you there and help you fairly quickly. read more

have to admit i was a little skeptical about this place because some of the reviews werent that great, but a lot of my friends have gone here for purchases so i went in. so far i have made 2 purchases here and my experiences were both great. they had what i wanted in stock or they were able to order it. the last purchase i went all over town trying to find the set i wanted any nobody could even track it down. others said they normally have them for around 500+ but they sell out fast. the shootist order me and my two other buddies the sets and for under msrp. under 400 even. the only way i could be happier is if they had it in stock. but i understand the nature of things being in high demand and hard to get read more
