I've been here to this shop a few times. The first time was to pick up my Glock 19 that they were able to get me the blue line discount since I am a first responder. Today I came in for a PPT and they were able to take care of that for me and the buyer and they took great care of us. Had the owners daughter help us personally and she made sure all questions were asked and that we got everything taken care of. Love this place. These guys know exactly what they're talking about and what they're doing. Bunch of former retired law enforcement and/or career military guys run the joint. They've been great to me and my wife, every time We've gone in there. Very helpful, great advice, provide great options and suggestions and alternatives. I've bought tons of stuff on here - 2 beautiful 12 gauges (the fonest shotguns I've ever owned or shot in my life, a Beretta A400 Extreme for me, a Benelli Super Vinci for my son), 2 Glocks (for my wife and I), a Ruger 10/22 , a bunch of cases, and tons and tons of ammo, targets and more. I don't patronage places that are rude, snobbish, mean or that don't practice excellent customer service (there's plenty of competition out there for every business that performs flawlessly so why bother?). I'm still going to the Shootist, and count it as one of my favorite shooting sports shops . That should tell you everything you need to know about it. I've read a couple of other reviews contrary to that experience, but in the 10 years I've been patronaging this place I can honestly say I've never once experienced any of that. Just saying. I had an unfavorable experience today with their customer service. I've gone in there before and the customer service was great. But today I was helped by a grumpy lady. To start, she was in the middle of helping a customer and asked if I needed to be helped, I said "Yes, but I'm not in any hurry, feel free to finish up what you're doing." After helping him she went behind the counter into an office where I could still see her. She sat down and started talking to someone else who was in there and said something about how they were overcharging for firearm safety certification (encounter was gossipy in nature). At some point she could totally tell I was looking at her because I was still at the counter waiting to be helped. So she got up and said to me with a tone of attitude "so do you just need to by something, or what?" I asked her my questions and she was rather short with me, when I inquired about a price of a used firearm I was interested in she said "well prices very for used but new they are already cheap." Overall, I would say she was unhelpful. I still like the Shootist but if I ever go in there and she's working, I will walk right back out and take my business to Turner's. Can you say arrogant???? This place is lucky that the Bass Pro Shop is 45 miles away from the Temecula Valley area. You would think a business in a small community would understand what customer service is about and how important it is in this economy. I will now drive 45 minutes to Bass Pro Shop, not to have to deal with the old guy in there who talks down to you when you ask a question. He has actually made me feel bad about a particular gun i wanted to buy, so i went and purchased it somewhere else. I went here to buy my first gun. As soon as I got in, Steve greeted me with a smile and made everything easy for me. I took my HSC here too. Steve made everything easy. I was in and out, completing my HSC and Gun purchase in less than an hour. Steves humor made me feel very welcome. 12 days after, I was back to pick up my pistol ( couldn't get back on the 10th day). I was hoping Steve would be there so I could get the same customer service that I got the first time. Steve was busy, but I got the same great customer service from bill. They did'nt pressure me into buying anything. I had tons of questions which got answered and with a little sense of humor. The way you would have with your friends. I also have o mention that I have been emailing them with a lot of questions and got a prompt reply. I also have been calling them even before I went, 1 question after another and they gave me all the time they could just so my questions would be satisfied ( prices, California laws, why this and that). I also spoke with a lady on the phone who enthusiastically spoke with me, which actually made me go there in the first place. read more

I think I'm going to try another gun store for my new pistol. I've gone in a couple of times in the past and did experience the the same as others who rated at 2 or below. It felt uncomfortable and like I was bothering them. I don't expect the cheapest prices or a perfect match for my personality, but I do expect respect and a desire to help me figure out which gun is best for my needs. Work on the customer service. It also seemed like the one or two wearing a side arm were the least attentive - if you have knowledge of guns then help us out, be polite and at least act like you appreciate our being there to purchase. read more

Place is well hidden in Murrieta, Ca and interesting how it's located next to a bar lol. Came out with my buddy to do a transfer on his riffle, they had plenty of staff to help everyone out and also carried a large inventory of used guns. Erin, the owner, reached out to me and asked that I call her so she could find out what the problems were and take the proper steps to resolve them. Recently purchased 2 Glocks Blue Label, one of the benefits of being a blue label purchase is it comes with 3 magazines. One of them was shy one mag, when we brought it to the staffs attention, they made good on the purchase and gave us the missing mag. Somehow, my negative feedback is gone!!! but here it is. Went in about 6 Months ago (03-2014), I was doing some work around the house so I had on some worn out jeans and t-shirt and had gone to COSTCO to buy some items, on a wimp I went there, I was treated like I well, dirt, I asked a question it was like I was bothering the employee. I returned a month later, this time I was dressed more appropriate,,,, different employee, I asked a simple question about buying a Ruger Sp-101 and a AR-15,, this time my wife and I were treated like we could not afford anything in the store, short cold general answers,,,, I thanked the employee and saw his attitude do a 180 with another customer, very friendly and warm, even offering to show him some weapons, something he never did for us,,,, my wife believes maybe it was because I am Hispanic ,,,,, I like to believe they might of been having a bad day,,,,, he cost this establishment $2,390 in sales, next day I went to Turners and was treated like I owned the joint,, will pass on the experience to all my fellow Vets and people I work with at the base read more

I emailed them with questions and they responded very quickly and when I went in the store they proved very knowledable answered all my dumb questions (haha) and were very friendly about it too! You can tell they care about getting you the right gun and not just trying to sell you something. The Shootist - Let some asshole try and break into my house - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Murrieta, California

So disappointed..... I thought that this was the place to take my Winchester model 1876 in 45-60 to be worked on and restored. The said that they could handle it. DIDN'T. They told me it would take 3-6 months as parts were needed. I started checking with them at the 6 month mark. Nothing. I waited almost 18 months, and then when their gunsmith said it was ready, they dumped it on me and said they were finished. Well, they finished me. The set trigger was not fixed as the gunsmith said he couldn't. After I got home, I realized that they didn't even use the original screws to reassemble. No, I didn't go back and complain. Every time I went into that store, I got a different story and an attitude that seemed to be "why are you bothering me now. don't you know I'm playing gun store owner?" So, I urge all to reconsider if you want to have your guns worked on. They are not reliable and they have no customer service. Rod Stoneburner read more
