Rick saw me peeking through the window and told me to come back in a few weeks for Italian. Fast forward and we show up Super Bowl Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to find a familliar face in Julia, didn't know this was her joint! Beautiful space, high ceilings, family-style/community tables, furnishings were warm and welcoming. da Grub: Starting with a bottle of Nero and very familiar bread with olive oil and spices... nod to Rosa of course! 1st course was the Caponata & toasted rounds - FANTASTIC, hope they retail that along with the Olive oil. Pasta course went with the Penne Norma... yes more eggplant, and it was quite tasty! Did 2 Secondi plates, beef w/peas and pork w/ roasted potatoes... homey, rustic goodness. Finished with espresso and pistachio torta. da Service: Admittedly, we're biased. From Julia's sharp and real wit to her partner's down to earth presence (a local boy like myself from Oahu) you CAN go home again. Felt like having family dinner elevated but not pretentious. This is a great gem in Crockett. They're open Thursday through Sunday and it's family style seating. The food is authentic. The owner is passionate about the food and her business. I've been to this place like five times now... it's that good. I had lasagna and I'm hooked. It's all I can eat when I go. It's pretty pricey at $26 for the plate that does not include any sides but it is big enough for a leftover meal so that makes me feel better about the price. The table is also served bread and a great dipping oil. It has garlic, rosemary, olive oil, red pepper flakes (I think) and it is so good that you might find your bowl gets emptied fast. I haven't had anything there that was bad. I've had their Caesar salad a few times now and it's great. The fried polenta is bomb. I am not a huge fan of polenta but I saw someone eating it at the next table and I asked if it was good and they said it was. I got it the next time. Now I'm hooked on that. It's super crispy on the outside. You can feel the crunch when you cut into it but it's nice and creamy and moist on the inside. There is also a great dipping sauce for the polenta. It's one of my favorites and you should definitely try it. The bruschetta is good, but the polenta is better if you had to choose between the two. My friend had just a straight rigatoni in ragu and it was awesome too. All of the sauces I have tried have been on point. I've had the pistachio cake, which is good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. It's smooth and light and creamy, but I didn't get a whole lot of pistachio flavor in there. Last time I went I had their Italian chocolate cake. I'm still dreaming about it. Lol. It was rich, dense and everything a chocolate cake should be. They have a pretty good wine list and some beers. As I've mentioned I have been here a lot and I will keep going back for more. If you haven't gone to The Sicilian, you are missing out. It's a great space. The owner is friendly and the food is fantastic. Because it's a small restaurant there's only one waitress and one person that does all the water and picking up the table and stuff like that. Because of this it does take a little longer to get your food. This isn't a place you should expect to be in and out of. I think the owners would tell you it's an experience and to slow down and enjoy your food and your company, like the Italians. read more

The food here was great. We did come for the lasagne because we heard it was really good. But the night we went, they had the baked rigatoni instead. But it was also good. I still want to try the lasagne. The only dish that was a little disappointing was the salad. I thought it was under dressed. The eggplant appetizer was really good and so was the pesto. We were so full afterwards but the owner talked me into getting the lemon cake and it was really good. I'm glad I did. The restaurant was cozy and seemed to be in a converted house. Such a fun night at The Sicilian! The food was divine, very authentic!! I don't recall the names of all the dishes but they were all delicious! The pesto (always my fav) was out of this world! I am in Italy almost every summer and told the owner it's the best I've ever had.. truly. The service was spectacular! Julia, our server, was amazing... she was attentive, super sweet answering our menu questions and had an awesome sense of humor. I knew about this restaurant for a while and had been wanting to take a chance and visit it for a while. Thankfully I was not disappointed. It was a Thursday and I'm guessing it was a bit slow but surprisingly it was a bit lively. Or perhaps it felt lively because the owner was so gregarious and inviting. As she passed by while tending other tables she would quickly showcase items ordered by other guests to us. I'm positive she was trying to get me to order her entire menu because they all looked amazing! My wife and I kept our order light by starting out with marinated olives and munching on the bread service. I ordered an Italian wine that was clean round and light. Our salad was simple but well dressed and prepared. It was followed by the first and second course in succession which my wife and I shared-- roasted chicken with rosemary potatoes and a steak on a bed of sauteed greens and a pan cooked potato. Lastly, on the owners recommendation we got a slice of the Limoncello cake. It was great!. Fresh, light and the right amount of sweetness. It went nicely with my decaf espresso. Decaf is a sin but it was also 9pm at night and I didn't want to have any jitters trying to go to bed. Restaurants often laud the idea that they offer home cooked meals to their patrons but often I've never had it. That was until I dined at The Sicilian. For the first time I truly felt like I was in someone's home eating food that was made in an authentic and humble manner. It wasn't home food dressed up for a restaurant. It was just really good food. Everything was well cooked. The ingredients were respected. And at least for my wife and I we never felt anything lacked seasoning. It was a surprise to me that a restaurant of that caliber was tucked away in such a nondescript town on a corner where you could easily pass it by overhead. Crockett is more know for the C&H factory than anything else but I hope it'll be known now for such a gem of an Italian restaurant. read more

Ambiance, food, and service were amazing. An easy flowing dining experience that presents delicious family recipes we had the pork shoulder as well as the lasagna special. Both were very tasty and paired well with their brothers wines. The staff were all extremely helpful and happy to guide you through the choices. We also enjoyed the small charcuterie platter with cheese, Salami, and olives. Dessert didn't disappoint at all. The pistachio torte and lemon tart finished the evening off. We tried The Sicilian on Valentine's Day for the first time.. it was a set menu with a 5 course meal and a glass of wine. The meal started with the most fresh and flavorful bruschetta I have ever tried as well as a special recipe spread to top off toasted baguettes.. I'm not exactly sure what was in this spread - I believe she said it was eggplant, and I know it had olives and then a bunch of other fresh ingredients to create something incredibly amazing! I could've just eaten the appetizers and been beyond happy with my meal! Next came the Cesar salad and then the lasagna. The lasagna was on a level I had never experienced before. It didn't feel heavy like the lasagnas that we are used to here in the states. It was so flavorfully divine but light and felt like it melted in my mouth. I don't know if they make their own noodles, or what the secret is about that lasagna, but I've day dreamed about it several times since that meal. Hahaha After all the appetizers and the salad I barely had room finish my lasagna, and I even shared a portion of it with my 7 year old. I had just a few bites left, thinking this was the end our or meal before dessert, and we learned that we still had another course! When the meat and potatoes came we took a couple bites just so that we can try the flavor fresh before boxing it up. We had to ask for the tiramisu to go as well, we were so stuffed! We left more than satisfied with our experience. I've been to Italy once before, and from my time there, I feel like the Sicilian brings a VERY authentic Italian dining experience. I really appreciated the relaxed speed at which the food was brought to us. Many restaurants now days put a limit on your time that you can spend there as they want to pump the customers in and out to capitalize on more money. This was not the case at the Sicilian, and I so very much appreciate that. What I appreciate and value the most about this place is the love and passion that I can feel and taste in the food, the atmosphere and the service. This place is one of a kind and deserves all of the praise it has been getting since opening. Thank you Julia for your passion and your dedication to quality and authenticity! I don't know where to begin... incredible service, home made authentic food, great atmosphere, beautiful ambiance... just an overall great place. The owner, Julia, makes recipes passed down from her grandmother. We loved hearing the origin of where the recipes came from. The best part of eating here was the experience. The staff were so friendly and meet us laugh and feel really good and at home. It was an authentic Italian experience! As soon as we got in the car to leave, we made plans to go back again. Have you ever tasted food that was so delicious, so out-of-this-world amazing, that it made you feel SO happy to be alive and experiencing something so exquisite? That's The Sicilian. Authentic Sicilian food at its finest!! From the wine, the oil served with the bread, the incredible seafood and pasta dishes, to the delectable tiramisu, we left completely stuffed, satisfied, and already planning our next trip. The owner Julia was an absolute delight and took excellent care of us and was so personable and friendly that we ended up chatting off and on throughout the entire meal. My partner and I were dancing along to the Italian music they had playing and the overall ambiance was a cherry on top for the experience! Julia was delightful, high energy and kept everything moving and fairly well organized for a significant size crowd all seated at 6pm for their "soft opening." The salads were delicious, our entree was one of the specials, pasta with prawns with garlic and olive oil, amazing olive oil dip for crunchy Italian bread. Dessert was a whole tray of homemade desserts of canoli, lemon cello cake and tiramisu. It was charming sitting with total strangers and drinking very good cheap wine! read more

What seemed like it was going to be a delightful meal , ended up in a deceitful dining experience and I warn all patrons to stay away from this establishment. We arrived around 6:45 on a Saturday evening and there was a large party of 30+ occupying most of the restaurant as the place is very cute but super tiny. We were told that the restaurant was reservations only, but since the 6:30 reservation was late we could take their table, there was no table set up for a reservation (red flag #1), but we were grateful to be sat. Upon receiving menus we were told that we would have to order family style or our food would take longer, this did not make sense because if we ordered three pastas individually what's the offense in ordering three selections for the table (red flag #2). Upon ordering, we decide to oblige with the forced family style. The pushy waitress who I assume was the owner states she's going to double the portion for our Caesar salad so there is enough for the table (three adults). Unbeknownst to us she doubled all the entrees in our meal, which doubled the price of our entire meal. The food was bland and the service was pushy. Not to mention we got overcharged for food we ultimately didn't need and did not eat. read more

This is what Crockett needed. The food is traditional Silician and served family style. The Caponata as a starter is perhaps the best I've had in a long time. The primi pastas are homemade and delicious. The porchetra is thin sliced, a bit as spicy and juicy. Beautiful. The prawns in a lemony creamy sauce made me drool. We were a party of 8 with several Italians in attendance. No one complained!! Service is lovely. Well paced and while some may say it was a bit slow, no one was unhappy. Dessert to finish off was a nice selection of canolli, and pistachio cake was a delightful finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Felt like we were in Italy. read more

The Sicilian is so authentic and all the recipes come straight from Italy. The food is outstanding, the service is outstanding. My favorite is the Caponata, I could have eaten that alone with some bread and called it good, but then the Meatballs came out and they were so tender they just melted in your mouth! I was in Heaven! The pesto was so fresh you could taste the basil like it you bit into a basil leaf. But wait, the dessert, Tiramisu was heavenly. Be prepared to take two hours for dinner, as the owner said "in Sicily dinner is the main event of the day, you don't want to rush it! " I strongly recommend this restaurant! read more

I didn't realize until my drive home that we were completely SCAMMED by who I think is the owner. We came in & she sat us down & everything was fine. We were pretty much forced into "family style" but it was only three adults eating & two toddlers who BARELY eat. Then on top of that she made ALL of our food a double order & charged us all for it. Kept telling us "this is on the house" and gave us a dessert & pasta (the pasta was already cooked but a wrong order) but really it wasn't "on the house" because what we bought was DOUBLED. We left with all three of the things we ordered to go with more than half left. This is extremely distasteful & disturbing that she would take advantage of us like that. Will never recommend this place, nor come back. Food was mediocre at best. read more

We understand the reasoning (they don't chip or break) but we generally don't eat hot food on plastic plates for health reasons.
