My review is about a week late. Hey, life gets busy sometimes. What's for dinner my husband asks. Nothing planned let's go out. I suggest a few places that doesn't interest him. He suggest The Silver Iguana. I immediately said yes. I love, I mean love, Mexican food and enjoy seeing new places pop up. We arrive at the quaint home-like establishment and immediately sit down. The seating can feel a bit cramped but after a slight table adjustment we were more comfortable. There was one waitress, and at first we both thought she was more concerned with her phone. Go figure. I ordered a Dos Equis lager. She said amber, I said no. Lager. Unfortunately, I received an amber. Perhaps they do not offer a lager. We started with their chips, queso and salsa. They give you an ample supply. The salsa has more of a sweet taste and it was yummy! The queso... who doesn't love melted cheese. For our entree we each ordered a chicken burrito. Rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce, jalapeño or whatever you like. Once again we were not disappointed. Burritos come dry and wrapped in foil. However, if you like your burrito wet simply ask for one of their sauces. I did. Great job people! I have probably told 15 people to try this new establishment. We will be back! read more

I wanted to give 3.5 stars but I could not justify rounding up to 4 stars. I liked this place but didn't love it. Some of the menu items left a little to be desired. The chips and salsa were tasty! I enjoyed that the chips were seasoned and the salsa was not your traditional restaurant style, but was very good. The house margarita(they have these on tap by the way) was made with fresh lime juice and was perfect! I ordered the fish taco special which was two ahi tuna tacos. It was good and the fish was fresh, but they definitely could've used a little more flavor- maybe a little soy sauce reduction drizzled over the top? The shrimp taco was ok but it needed a little more flavor and the shrimp were over cooked. I was pretty excited for the carnitas, but I was disappointed when I bit into the taco to discover the meat was bland. I added some delicious salsa to it which helped. The churros were really good and a happy ending to an "ok" meal! My favorite part of my visit was the margarita, but I will be back to give them another chance(Plus they were out of steak so I didn't get a chance to try the cowboy candy taco). read more

The prices here are outrageous!! I spent $50 on dinner for ONE person. Each marg is in a 16oz glass that is $13 and 3/4 of the cup is ice. My Burrito had a hair in it, and there was no refills on the $6 chips and guac. Most Mexican restaurants provide free chips and salsa. Have heard a lot of mixed reviews, but I love street tacos and wanted to try for myself. The restaurant itself has a nice little outdoor patio for seating on a nice day. The service was OK. Our server was nice and would come check on us, but would then seem to be gone forever. The tacos themselves were also just OK. Aside from taste, each taco had way too much sauce / liquid on it. When they were served at the table the corn tortillas were soaked. When I picked up each taco there was a lot of runoff from all the liquid. I will say the beer and tequila were the best things I had after a long day, hard to screw up alcohol. Overall I might go back to this place if I am in the area, but not my favorite place for tacos. read more

Tonight was our first experience here and we enjoyed it! We met friends for drinks and apps on the patio. Let's be real: the parking situation is not ideal. Most of the nearby lots are reserved for other places, and they enforce it. We had to park on a side street--it wasn't far, and is normal for people who are used to dining downtown, but just slightly inconvenient. Our server was friendly enough. I ordered the mango margarita, which was delicious and reasonably potent. My fiancé got the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. I only ate the chips and salsa but they were flavorful! Had a bit of a kick to them. The best part of our experience was the outdoor seating. They have a reasonably spacious patio which will be perfect for summer dining now that the weather is warming up. I can imagine we'll be back for some summer dinner dates to enjoy the nice weather! The prices weren't outrageous, but it's not a cheap night out. We'd go again for a night on the town. read more

This is a low key bar with tacos and tequila, so you can't go wrong. I've been here a couple times, usually on taco Tuesday and they have great specials. There are $3 tacos, beef, chicken, pork and bean in addition to drink specials. There is a nice outdoor space when the weather is nice enough to eat outside as well. The house margarita are strong but delicious. At the table, they serve chips and salsa, the chips seem homemade and the salsa has flavor but not too spicy. We also ordered the quest which was thicker than I expected, and pretty spicy, but was a great addition to the salsa. The service is good and took care of our table. I got the chicken and pork taco which were flavorful, the meat was tender and the salsa, sour cream and such added great flavor. The tacos were average size, and i ordered two for myself. They do have churros as well for dessert which I didn't happen to get at this visit, but at previous times, came with 5 which were warm and sweet, and a great end to the meal. But, the service keeps getting worse and worse ... and we leave a 20%+ tip, to help during these times. The website gave us a 45-minute wait. Hubby & I went there last night for the first time. We stood at the bar for over 5 minutes looking for seating direction. When we finally did get a table we sat for another 10 minutes with zero contact by anyone. Finally a waiter did take our drink order, and we ordered our food then also - sat another 10 minutes. They brought us another bowl of chips & salsa. Finished my drink, chips gone, sent hubby to the bar for a refill. At that point they were kind enough to give that drink free as an hour had already passed. We both had ordered chicken burritos @ $11.00 each - mine was$13.00 because I ordered guacamole with it Burritos were meh, fairly bland and nothing comes with them. 1 hr & 15 minutes after ordering they showed up. Needless to say, they are understaffed, food is pricey and not great. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic, but it just couldn't compensate. I still love this place and I still go often, but there's one thing that I find disappointing. Depending on who is in the kitchen, your food comes out differently. The nachos do not say that they come with enchilada sauce, but the last time I got them, they were smothered in sauce. I've had the nachos like 5 times and I'd say 3-4 of those times, they came out differently than what was on the menu. My friend asked for a burrito, and it came out smothered in enchilada sauce and it's not supposed to come with it unless you ask for it. I've also had some servers that were not great and who didn't really listen to our orders or write them down correctly. But overall, I still love this place. We decided to try this place after a similar local restaurant had an hour and a half wait. This place had no wait-- we should have realized why. There was a delay in being greeted by the host on walking in, once we sat down at a table it took a good 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged by our waitress and given water. The table next to us that sat a few minutes after us was greeted first. By the time she came over, we knew exactly what drinks and food we wanted to order. When ordering drinks, I asked if there was a way they could make a non-alcoholic margarita (like a mocktail or anything really) and she very seriously deadpan said "no" and just stared at me while I awkwardly laughed and said "OH... okay... Ummm". Not an "I'm sorry no we can't because xyz but here are some non alcoholic beverages we have:...". Nope. I saw Moscow mules on the menu so I just ordered myself a ginger beer. The first round of drinks took a crazy long time to come even though it looked like people were standing around at the bar. My husband ordered one special margarita which tasted like a classic and looked just like the classic my sister ordered. The queso and guacamole were pretty good, I can recommend them! After sitting for a while with empty cups and empty chip bowls (maybe another 15-20 minutes) and our failed attempts to flag someone (anyone!) down to order more drinks and maybe our food, one of us finally gave up and went to the bar to tell our waitress directly what drinks we wanted. She didn't recognize him at first which was a bad sign. She took the order and then came back after our cue to finally take our food order. The food did take forever to come, one taco was missing, and the panko fried fish taco came out burnt as hell with one nugget of fish that looked like a fried oreo (but burnt?). With the delivery of the second round of drinks we ordered a beer that never came. The chicken wings and enchiladas were decent. We had asked for more chips to finish our leftover guacamole (which she forgot to bring us earlier) so when we reminded her and she brought it finally, she actually threw the bag of chips on the table. She was unapologetic about the missing taco as well as the inedible fish taco but did insist on bringing us a new fish taco that wasn't a hockey puck. We refused the replacement at first since the food took probably close to an hour to come, but the new taco came out in 5 mins. That taco was the best looking one of the whole table's order and was actually warm. The quickest service we had was when we handed in the check with our credit card-- it was returned to us right away. The pictures are of the bean enchiladas (added a side of rice) and the hockey puck Oreo looking nugget of a panko fish taco. Not really good, but not all that bad. Was described to me before going as a taco bar run by hipsters. And I think that description is pretty much what I got. Got lucky with a parking space in the back, but there isn't a ton of parking on site. Inside is a bit cramped since the small hallway from the front door leads to the bar and that creates a bottle neck before you can get to the tables. As for the food, the tacos are good, but I'm not sure they're $5 minimum good. Tacos are served default on corn tortillas, which is a plus. Not a ton of flavor for my two tacos (fish and portabella). Decent variety of beer on bottle and tap, and everyone in my party enjoyed their drink specials. So overall, I was wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but I'd be down to try it again if I was invited out to it. read more

This was SO good. I can't even begin to say how amazing the food was since the last time we came in. Over the summer, it was pretty bad. I couldn't even bring myself to write a review. The bar staff and servers don't yet have their crap together and seem like they'd rather stand around without any customers until their shifts were dont, but, the food is what I will return for again. This was my first time trying this place and I was excited based on the reviews and a referral from a colleague. We were seated quickly on a Saturday evening, so that was cool. My salad was the saddest excuse for a salad EVER! Lettuce and tomatoes only...no onions, no croutons, no queso! I let the waitress know that my salad was missing things and she said she'll be back. I have tried to support The Silver Iguana throughout the pandemic as it is a small business and I love the food, drinks and atmosphere. Their servers have always been relatively rude but it never bothered me that much. Recently I ordered online for curbside pickup due to COVID, and because the last time I went in to pick up food it was extremely crowded and no one was wearing a mask (even while walking around). When I called to get my food I was told they were too busy and I had to come in. I wish they had stated they were no longer doing curbside as I would have understood and ordered elsewhere. This is no longer a place I will support given their total disregard for public health guidelines and more so, their callous attitude toward those who are not quite ready to go into restaurants. read more
