We checked out another historical Boulder eatery, The Sink, for some dinner tonight. This long time establishment, located on The Hill, serves up some damned tasty food in a quirky and fun setting. Today we both tried sandwiches off the daily specials menu... my only complaint is that the Dazed and Confused Burger isn't on the regular menu because every bite of that delicious creation was a explosion of mouthwatering flavor. I tripped over this restaurant while waiting for my nephew. Such a delightful restaurant! The food was amazing! The cowboy Reuben was out of this world. The Mac and cheese was so good. The restaurant is really loud and has the decor of your favorite college hang out. They have outdoor seating if you want something quieter. I would go back anytime. read more

You come for the vibe and not the food or service. Our 20 minute wait time turned into 40 minutes. When we were sat, it took another 15 or so minutes before anyone came to the table, albeit she was very sweet. Upon giving her our order, we waited another 15 minutes or so just to get water (as they ran out of cups and were cleaning them). To add insult to injury, the people who were sat 10 minutes after us received their drinks and apps before we received anything. The food finally came out, we ordered a cheese pizza (my daughter said it was pretty good), chipotle chicken pizza ( my son said it was the spiciest ever), bacon jammin burger (my other son thoroughly enjoyed it), Ceasar salad (my wife said it was the worst she'd ever eaten) and I had the bacon burger, which came out pink and cold (although I ordered it medium well...why ask if you can't prepare it accordingly?). All in all, it was a nostalgic experience to share with our son during parents weekend, but we assured him that we do not ever have to return. Again, the server was very sweet (which is why they received even 3 stars), but the rest of the experience left a great deal to be desired. read more

I went to the Sink for the first time and absolutely loved it! Service was great and everyone was so kind. I ordered the Cesar salad and it was soooo good. The pizza is strangely better reheated the next day - crust is a weird combo of crackery and gummy when served. Excellent menu of local favorites and fun specialty pies. Burgers are good but not any better than your normal burger joint - for being the "best in Boulder" I was thinking it would be unique. Beer list has something for everyone. Heard of this place on DDD and am glad we stopped. Our waitress Elena was swamped but made us feel like we were the only table. Her sense of urgency and care for our experience made the experience so wonderful. They were sadly out of the lemon blackberry sour, but she recommended others that were delicious. We got the freshie pizza, which was phenomenal and the Texas straw onion burger. The only reason it's not 5 star is the burger was slightly overcooked but still delicious nonetheless. Terrible service, rude manager, do not recommend to anyone, very overrated. They made us feel unwelcome and rushed. We ordered burgers medium, got it over well done yet the kitchen was closed so we couldn't send it back. We had to ask for plates, napkins, waters etc just to eat our pizza. After our first drink they never told us the bar closed so when we asked for our second (after way too long of a wait) they told us "oh bar is closed" with no warning of last call. Talk about character! The walls of this place are covered with kitschy, political murals, and the ceilings are covered with signatures--they even encourage you to sign the ceiling. Between the three of us, we had the buff mac and two types of burgers. The flavors were spot-on! Nice selection of local beers, including several local ciders, which is often hard to find! The best item IMHO was the pork green chili-- you're in Colorado after all, definitely worth a try. A popular place for students, the Sink was a recent visit with out of town guests. We all checked in on Yelp and got the beer offer. There was only one option, the Alaska Amber. It was just ok. I got the bbq burger - this was a bit overcooked and not great, although it was big. The sweet potato fries were good, although not made there, and overall I wouldn't recommend this as a place to impress, but it is a good option if you have time and want to hang out with friends and have something to eat or drink. read more

I honestly couldn't tell you who those individuals are, but maybe I'll ask the server next time. Anyway, I like this place! We ate in this basement looking area with graffiti all over the walls and tables. I couldn't help but be distracted by a historical newspaper beneath the table cover. It was regarding Chris Brown (not the singer), a famous running back at CU Boulder. I asked the server what to get. I got a straight answer: buffalo chicken macaroni and cheese. I'll admit, this was a game changer for me. I really liked the blue cheese crumbs sprinkled all over. This was a nice contrast to the heavy flavors imposed by the buffalo sauce and cheese. The decor was very interesting (adding my name to the ceiling was also fun)! The food took awhile 25-30 minutes, but this could be attributed to the lunch rush, the food was not wrong but came out in intervals, as the waiter kept forgetting (once again could be contributed to the lunch rush) When the food came out I was displeased to find it cold and crumbly (ordered a grilled cheese and sweet potato fries) never-the-less it was tasty even if cold. Second time here, and food and service was great again! Even though they were busy, the service was top-notched! We waited for about 10 minutes and were seated at a table outside. I ordered the Rueben, my one daughter ordered the sliders and the other Buffalo Mac & Cheese We ordered drinks and shortly after we got them our food arrived. The girls said the sliders were great, I tasted my daughters Mac & Cheese, which was so cheesy and creamy. As for my Reuben, the meat was very fatty, pretty much inedible. ive lived in Boulder since 1992 ... ive gone to the sink ever since there was a flip night (not sure if its still going on) anyway 90% of the time ive gone here the foods been really good. the service.. not so much even though this isn't that big of a deal its annoying when it happens often. example. i asked for straws. they never came. i asked a refill for the coke i was drinking. i got dr. pepper. took forever to come take our order during lunch time( most people only have 1/2 hour for lunch) im pretty sure the bar tender was responsible for our orders and was really slacking that day.. maybe he was hung over? i don't know but he really appeared he didn't want to be there..anyway i'll be back.. but when i have time to sit there for over an hour. read more

The sink is unpretentious and delivers I'm great pub-style food. Boulder is very much a college town so if you are over 30 expect to be the oldest person in the place. On the bright side the Cosmopolitan I ordered to go with the meal proved to be one of the best I've ever tasted. It came as quite a surprise. Boulder and other college towns usually have a lot of craft beers to offer but in this case I preferred the cocktail. The food is pretty good (decent burgers, decent salads, decent pizza), the service is pretty good (friendly but not overly attentive), the atmosphere is pretty good (old school basement with lots of graffiti on the walls), and I left pretty happy. I'm guessing this place is a CU staple b/c it would be great for college kids. Go here if nothing else better is open, or if you just want a chill place with a decent meal. read more
