We loved the flatbread pizza, guacamole, chicken sliders, and cocktails while taking in views of the Empire State Building, Times Square, and the Jersey skyline. If you're planning a visit, go on a Friday! The DJs keep the energy going with a mix of music from house to which it ended with a R&B and Caribbean vibe. We were wandering New York on a Thursday night at 10pm looking for a fun cocktail bar and were able to snag a 10:15pm reservation at The Skylark. Super cool entrance, very industrial yet chic vibes. There were fairly nice views from the inside, but I imagine they're a lot better from the outside. For drinks I got the Lime Leaf and my bf got the Blackberry. Mine was refreshing and maybe a bit more spirit-forward than I prefer, but still good. My bf enjoyed his drink, which was quite strong. I also got the watermelon and feta appetizer, which I thought was quite good! The fruit was interestingly crispy (in a good way!) and it came with almost a lime sorbet dolloped on top which was cold and added a nice refreshing touch. Good rooftop views and seating area! Got here around 6p on a Friday and found seating by a table outside. We got seated on the shaded side too which was ideal given how hot it was. I didn't want to drink so they made virgin mojitos which were well balanced and not overly sweet. There are only two option here for mocktails so take that into account (virgin mojito or a tonic based spirit-free drink). Service was honestly a bit disappointing. We had come to celebrate a friend's birthday and wanted to order the lava cake. Service was extremely infrequent since one person served the whole rooftop bar. By the time we asked to place the order, she said your seating time is almost up and the cake takes 15 minutes to warm up and was unwilling to serve us. I think they should come by and make sure orders are fulfilled if tables need to he turned over so quickly. She took about 30 minutes to close out the tab so we easily could have gotten the cake. Very interesting, secretive entrance. You go through a maze and freight elevator to get in there. Once inside though the space opens up to a vibey room with lounges and low tables. The service was weird and the servers were abrupt but the cocktails and the food were very good. The view is the icing on the cake. YES YES YES!!! Fun!!! Found the best roof top bar in NYC. Everything is on point. Service by the lovely Amber was on point. Drinks were great and food was scrumptious. It's just a great vibe and I love the setup plus spectacular views. It's definitely photo worthy and everyone was taking pictures. Came to Skylark with my colleagues who were visiting from India. we had shishito peppers that were tasty and some chicken dumplings that were ok. Service is great and the drinks are stiff so make sure you put back a few while here. It's a cozy rooftop and the music is nice would recommend stopping in for a visit. read more

We had the private room, "the Den", and while it was nice to have our own space (and some nice skyline views), there was limited seating as we were a group of about 15 (there were 2 smaller sized couches and like 3 arm chairs). With the one room, we had a dedicated person to check in and take orders throughout the reservation, and the service was great. The food and drinks tasted great! I really liked their mint tea spritz. The apps were a hit; my faves were - artichoke dip (comes very hot and fresh) - flatbread (tasted like pizza basically) - steamed shrimp dumplings If I went back on my own,I don't know if I'd get more than one drink, since it is a bit pricey. My babe and I and was strolling through the city on Monday night and I noticed skylark so I suggested we go check it out. Security was very polite and recommended we go up; there's 3 levels I think including the rooftop. The second level had a few people there which was surprising since it was Monday after all. The decor is nice and the view is great with plenty of seating. We sat by the bar since tables were full for and we didn't reserve. I ordered the Reisling and a guiness for my babe. It's a low key spot with good music but not too high, great for conversations as Security mentioned. The vibe was good. We checked out the rooftop but it doesn't have a bar but you can bring your beverages and food up there. My babes love it now and what's to go back. The bartender John was a li'l off-putting and sarcastic I guess because, he gave me a dirty glass and i brought it to his attention but W.E. I would recommend it for the view or a date night. We stumbled upon this place while looking for a bar to relax at before our Broadway show. We had no idea they didn't open until 5:00 PM and arrived around 4:00-4:30 PM. When we entered, we went to the elevators and the security guard didn't greet us but still allowed us to go upstairs. At no point did he mention that the establishment was closed or that it wouldn't open until 5:00 PM. As a result, we wasted time going up to an empty venue. When we came back down, the man sarcastically told us that we should have approached him first. That response made no sense as we didn't know where we were supposed to go other than the elevators he had already allowed us to use. A simple heads-up that the venue was closed would have saved everyone time and prevented the confusion. The lack of communication was frustrating, but the dismissive and rude attitude afterward made the experience even worse. He even used profanity which is extremely unprofessional. Customer facing staff should be guiding guests, not creating unnecessary confusion and then blaming them for it. (He's a bald African American man sitting at the desk by the elevators. Borrowing a jacket from a friend, I went up and immediately noticed half a dozen different guys in similar dress code (short-sleeved, non-collared shirts). One of them was even in a cut tanktop and wearing a bandana. I'm guessing that either they similarly covered themselves with a jacket prior to getting checked at the door or the bouncer was profiling me (given I was the only person of my ethnicity amongst the aforementioned underdressed guys who was refused entry). Drinks were actually very good, I personally liked the '76 and the "Pearfect Pair". Drinks ranged from $20-24 and food was around $18-26. Ambiance is as expected of a rooftop bar. Noisy, extremely dark, modern vibe, beautiful views. It's not easy to have a conversation inside. Service is efficient though not especially friendly. Bathrooms are very clean, serviced, and single-occupant, mixed gender. Probably wouldn't come back due to the bad experience at the door, but if so, I'd dress better (wear a collared shirt). read more

Sipping a drink on an outdoor deck while looking at the Empire State Building as the sun goes down- perfection! I had to check out one last venue in New York City even though it was drizzling. As our trip comes to a close, we had to muster up our energy for one last tour of Gotham! It was well worth it! You will need to order drinks at the bar on your own though. Either way, you can have the best of both an indoor experience with views and an open air experience with views/sunset. Such a great rooftop! We made reservations for two about 2 weeks in advance and were able to get a great view of the sunset. Although the space is small, I feel a reservation guarantees your place next to the view. It does get a bit uncomfortable once people are trying to get a good picture and stand right next to you, but it's understandable. How can you not want a pic here! You will have to rearrange furniture if you want a better pic without so much obstructing the scenery. Service was very attentive. We did have to wait a few mins to be seated despite being 10mins late but it was not a big deal. The fries were amazing! Wow fantastic place! I was visiting for work and this was located at the top of their office building. There are secret elevators for you to ride in to take you to the top of the building. We went right after work at 5 to grab a cocktail and some apps. Unfortunately it's very limited seating if you don't have a reservation (which we weren't able to get last minute), but we were able to get a seat at a shared table. The views were incredible. 30 floors up and some of the best views of the city. It was a rainy evening so we just made a quick walk outside for the views and then found our way to the bar. I came here for my girl's birthday dinner on a Friday night. The lounge is located on the 30th floor and offers unbeatable views of the city! There is a dj in the middle of the lounge, playing a mix of old school and new school music. She even played one or two dancehall and afrobeat songs. The views up here are amazing! We got through four levels of check-in or security to get through the top and I had a delicious ginger drink with peppercorns in it first thing. It was pretty empty besides a private party inside. Pretty bad with a skyline view. When I went, there were two other events going on so I reserved the pool room for my group. We still had to go to the bar to get our drinks, which was not too bad. My friend got an espresso martini which was really good. I got the Skylark which was not as good. The location was absolutely amazing. Just a few blocks away from broadway. Would be a great place to come to after the theater however... My friends and I did not have a great experience at all. Our sever (who we never got a name) was rude from the get go. She was annoyed we weren't ready with a drink order when we just got sat. Mind you we've never been there before. She took our order and then disappeared and never came back with our drinks. We had to flag another server down to help track our server to get our drinks to which she just dropped the drinks off and left. No apologies for the wait, no asking if we need anything else. Nothing. I got the fall harvest (which has ice) and a good amount of the ice had melted, watering down my drink. It wasn't worth trying to flag her down to remake the drink.
