Delightful experience for brunch! Delicious French toast and I loved the hibiscus and coffee syrups. Service was great. Will come back to try dinner next.

Our first and only brunch was at The Slide Inn. It's a German spot run by a husband and wife combo. They have an extensive list of dishes that can be made gluten free. We dropped in on a surprisingly slow Saturday (around 12:30pm). There was only one other table that was dining in. The inside is funky with a fireplace (right at the front), an electic range of clock decor and a plethora of Keane paintings adorning the walls. Service was excellent and friendly. The breakfast menu consists of eggs, pfannkuchen and mehr, waffles, house made smoked sausages, burgers and pastas. Dishes are $10.00 USD to $18.00 USD. - Sausage scramble-house made turkey sausage, sautéed peppers with potato rosti and toast ($14.00 USD) - opted for the pumpernickel, which was nicely toasted, yet still soft. Everything on the dish was tasty. Turkey sausage was delicious and the potato rosti silky. Eggs were nicely done and had a good amount of red peppers mixed in. - Apfelschmarrn ($14.00 USD) - Austrian pancake (cut into small pieces) oven baked with an apple cinnamon compote. Smelled like apple pie. Warm, comforting and not too sweet. Cozy, comfort food at TSI.

    Gluten free schnitzel

Gluten free mains, desserts and drinks??!! Yes, please! The owner served us and he was so kind and warm and informative. He even brought out the gluten free bread he baked himself that he uses on the schnitzel. I got the gluten free schnitzel and my friend got the regular schnitzel and we both loved them. The sauerkraut was really good. House made fermented ginger beer was delicious too! The space is large and open and welcoming and pretty too.

Had a wonderful breakfast here with my hubby this morning! You can't eat here unless you are vaxed (proof required), and I very much appreciate it. The place is small and intimate and has a lot of interesting decor. I got a veggie scramble. There were mushrooms, peppers, kale, and cauliflower in the eggs and some hashbrowns on the side. Dang, was it tasty!! My husband got some baked pancakes that had bacon in them. They brought over a tray of in-house syrups ( the caramel and the coffee flavors bring the two favorites).

E P I C - this is a one man show and *show he does! The food served here is German comfort food at its finest. Mr. Wonderful had the Austrian pancake with plum sauce, he enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the few bites that I swiped from his plate. I had the potato pancakes which were cooked to perfection and they were served with homemade applesauce - which was a memory triggering delight! You can taste the passion in this food! The interior is eclectic and cozy. I liken it to stepping back in time for a trip from the 50s through the 70s. It's quite charming! We are planning a return trip to Sellwood based around this restaurant. I must try the dinner offerings. Danke!

Black mold at the bottom of the water bottle (about 1" glob.

EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK (read the quotes from their last health report on 2/1/2024). We left because it was so disgusting. I've attached photos of the mold at the bottom of the water bottle used to serve us water in. I'm fortunate as the only one in our party to not the drink water. I first noticed what I thought was ice at the bottom and thought that was weird, then moved the bottle to realize it was white and black mold. The utensils my partner received were dirty, the cups that they served tea in were sticky and gross. There was a layer of filthy film on the salt and pepper shakers. The server was wearing the most disgustingly filthy apron (later I realized he was also operating the kitchen). It's important that food is safe to eat. So many are immunocompromised, have liver or kidney problems. People shouldn't have to gamble in having a clean environment and safe food to eat. I filed a complaint with the health department and in the process learned this restaurant just had an inspection and barely passed with a 75 (below 70 is failing) and required corrective action. Here are actual quotes from the inspection done on 2/1/2024 by Multnomah County: "The person in charge has not demonstrated knowledge of foodborne illness disease prevention" "NO RUNNING HOT WATER AT DESIGNATED HANDWASHING SINKS (TWO)." "Food is unsafe, adulterated or not honestly presented, specifically: ***MANY FOODS IN THE WALK-IN EXHIBIT MOLD GROWTH.***" "Raw or ready-to eat food is not properly protected from cross contamination, specifically: ***FREEZERS OF RAW ANIMAL PROTEINS ARE IMPROPERLY STORED.***" "Raw or ready-to eat food is not properly covered or stored, specifically: ***ALL FOODS ARE UNCOVERED IN THE WALK-IN. CONTAINERS OF FOODS/TOPPINGS IN KITCHEN PREP AREAS ARE KEPT UNCOVERED. FREEZER STORING RE-PACKAGED RAW ANIMAL PROTEINS IN UNSEALED BAGS.***" "Food-contact surfaces are not clean, specifically: ***CUTTING BOARDS, UTENSILS, EQUIPMENT HAVE BUILD UP FOODS AND DEBRIS, NOT CLEAN.***" "Ready-to-eat food is not properly date-marked, specifically: ***NO DATE MARKING PRACTICED.***" Edit to the owners response - I'm curious what kind of black and white fuzzy food you serve that would get into a bottle? It was most definitely mold and it was disgusting. This was supposed to be a birthday gathering and people in our party were not in the mood for food after consuming some of the water that was poured from that bottle. And though you posted parts of the follow up inspection report done on 2/14/2024, I should point out that our visit was on 2/25/2024, 9 days after the follow up visit by the health department. Besides that, none of the issues in the original report should have happened in the first place. That is why restaurants are regulated and anyone who handles food has to be permitted to do so.

Great food and service. What a quiet gem. The sausage scramble and Austrian pancakes with plums were fantastic. We'll definitely be back.

For two people we paid $150 with tip, and that was without desserts and coffee. Things of note from a Friday night summer visit to this place that's been there four years now: High-end presentation. The plating is top level and each thing they place in front of you is like a sculpture or work of art. Nice energy, not at all too loud. They have acoustic tiles on the ceiling and on the concrete floor added a runner that echos the curve of the large bar, which helps. Portion size looked nice and generous from examples of things we saw being brought to tables, such as the salad and focaccia. Best appetizers were fried cauliflower and the asparagus dish w/ the eggs (which would be even better if warm). The one fish entree is the sablefish (ours was underseasoned) that's brought out on thin piece of cedar with edges still slightly charred. It comes with nothing else on the plate so plan accordingly. Just inside the door they have a little snack/pantry curated market of sorts, where you can linger while waiting for seating and can buy things like a cute little bottle of honey for $20 or a colorful crocheted wall hanging basket for $70. Lots of good natural light because of the walls of floor to ceiling windows. Option of ample seating indoors and outdoors because it's a corner location. Cautionary note: We saw and heard a lunatic in hoodie who, at 6pm on a Friday night, walked up to one of the unoccupied outdoor tables and flipped it over, causing the plates and glasses to fly in the air and shattered, landing in shards next to the elderly couple at the next table who jumped up, her understandably in shock and tears. Staff did nice job moving them inside to a twotop, cleaning up the mess, and removing all the seating on that side of the building for the night.

Since we are heading to an event, not far from here, we didn't have much time to take leftovers home, we didn't have a cooler, it's almost 80 degrees out, so we decided to eat something we could share. There's a $2 discount recess during happy hour (3-5pm). We were there at that time. (Is that the reason WHY the music were soo loud?) It was served with hand-cut fries. Both were just the perfect taste (delicious), and size for both of us. But, for some reason, I was still tempted to have something else. We looked at the desert menu, and decided on the Peach Crumble. Food taste so much better, when shared! Enough said. (We waited so long for this one, that we almost didn't made it to our event!
