Scallop ceviche and half a dozen oysters
    Hallie S.

This spot is a must if you're in the area! The beautiful waterfront view is paired with exceptional service and fresh, seasonal food! I highly recommend the "Shore Plate" as it highlights the local cuisine. Additionally, the scallop ceviche and oysters the perfect appetizer! Returned for a second night in a row as we were so impressed and couldn't resist another night on the water. Again, super friendly service to accompany their delicious food options! We chose the scallop ceviche and mussels for our appetizer as well as the corn crab chowder and lobster entree with a round of refreshing drinks.

    Delicious!

Although it would be better to see the menu ahead of time - we had a delicious meal! Burgers were fresh for us landlovers, and the shore dinner was fantastic for the seafood lover! Everything was hot and the outside dining was fantastic! Trip Advisor does not have the most current menu (our server said its 5 years old!) but it worked out!!

Okay, we came or three days ago and I wanted to return again. However, I thought I would just look on yelp for the heck of it. There were reviews of bad service, small portions, etc. etc. we went back anyway. We started off with the steamers and they were so good we ordered second portion. Perfectly cooked, tasty, nice portion, steaming hot (duh). Just like the first time, the service was stellar. We then moved on to the halibut ceviche, and the fried haddock. The halibut ceviche, although diminutive, was outstanding! The fried haddock and french fries, both cooked in peanut oil, which is very expensive but the most healthy as far as fried food goes, were outstanding, and large enough to split. I am not sure what restaurant the other reviewers reviewing, but the Slipway we went to was excellent as to the ambience, service, and quality of the food.

This favorite spot was closed last summer. This year they are back with an abbreviated but appropriate menu. The dog friendly deck is a delight, their house wine is Gurnet Veltliner, their food is fabulous! Ashley, our server, was relaxed and kind.

Dock bar. Also pretty bar inside

We visit Maine every few years and slipway has always been our favorite lunch, dinner or just drinks restaurant. Was just telling my husband that slipway and rhumb line in Camden are my favs. And just read that they have same owner. Makes sense. Pretty, breezy, elegant spot. Always friendly service too and good food. The screened in dining room also has a great feel to it.

Beautiful view as the tide was going out, and the outside picnic benches were great for our large group of both adults and kids. 3 stars for the ambiance, 2 for the food. As a vegetarian I was dragged around to many non veggie friendly places while I was in Maine. The people I was with were super excited that they found a place that had listed a "vegetarian plate" on the menu. Usually I'm stuck with ordering sides and trying not to think about the cross contamination that's happening in the kitchen. The vegetarian plate had a plate full of beautiful vegetables and then some cooked tofu as well. The veggies were very yummy and I was excited to see more than just one type. The tofu needs a lot of work though as It tasted like it was warmed up fresh out of the watery box. Why not grill it and add some seasoning as well? I think there was a pesto on top of it, but I couldn't even taste it as the tofu was so mushy.

Super fresh seafood, great atmosphere, expedient service. This is not a cheap lobster shack so expect to pay standard "restaurant prices". We ate and drank like kings and queens and the bill ran about 50 bucks per person. Everyone left full and happy.

Ordered the fried haddock sandwich too. Soup arrived with steam (before the spoons to eat it came) but the soup was actually not that hot when we tasted it. We had to wait for spoons. The bowl of lobster bisque was $34, which was a conscious decision for us to order - because that's expensive. (A cup is$20.) The lobster bisque had no flavor. The salt, pepper and lemon we added ourselves helped but for $34, it should be amazing. It cooled off super quickly and was room temperature within 3 minutes and in 8 minutes or so, cold. Which means it wasn't truly heated through and through to start. We regret ordering it. The fried haddock sandwich had zero flavor. None. Not salt, not pepper. The fries and Heinz ketchup had the most flavor of anything on our table. When the sandwich came we asked for another plate (we were sharing it), which never came. At one point, the waitress came over and asked how everything was. I replied, "Eh, alright." She said "Okay!" and walked away. Disappointing since, budget-wise, we are eating out one meal a day of this trip and that was the experience (and lack of flavor) we had. $66 including tip. Such a waste. Sorry to say....but skip this place.

We learned of it from locals and decided to give it a try. It was a bit rocky of a start, someone didn't really know that we were there, but when we asked we had service recovery that was off the charts. We had a very nice Chardonnay. and because of our initial wait we received the cajun shrimp appetizer that was absolutely incredible and served with homemade chipotle cocktail sauce - so good and perfect with the wine. I then followed that with an order of chicken wings that came with buffalo sauce and blue cheese, Wayne had the fettuccine Alfredo that was also excellent. Although no longer within the blues festival grounds, we will totally add it to next year's plan!

Lobster roll prices are one of the few things in life that regularly give me sticker shock, but this (currently under $30) is less than some highly-ranked shacks. And the view, by golly, the view. The view is worth an extra $10 to sit and look out at the water - the exact view of what Maine means to me. Anyway, we arrived at 11:42am on Wednesday; they open at 11:30am. It was pretty busy by that time - the line moves fast - many people already eating 12 minutes after opening. But when we left, probably 60-90 min later, the car line was very long. I'd recommend getting there 15 minutes before they open. We had the hot dog, not-pictured, but positive review from the two kids who chose that, as well as one who chose the grilled cheese. Three of us had lobster rolls, with nothing but rave reviews. Lobster rolls always look small to me, but it was packed and filling. Get both butter and mayo. Slaw, pickle, and chips - standard and good. Our lone steamed lobster ordered gave two thumbs up, also. Oh, and we started with clam dip. Like delicious chip dip - but with clams! Subtly seafoody. Worth the effort to check out McCloons. The whole area is beautiful - swing by Owls Head Lighthouse afterwards. Those few hours will be the way life should be.

I googled lobster shacks on the water and was led here. Couldn't be happier with the choice to come here. It's absolutely the most beautiful lobster shack I've ever been to. I got a full lobster which came with a pickle, bag of chips, coleslaw , lemon wedge and melted butter. My son got a lobster roll which came with the same sides. The total for both was $65.77. We got a table right by the water with an umbrella and it was peaceful, idyllic, and just perfect. We got there right when it opened at 11:30 so we had our choice of table, and parking was easy, but when we left almost an hour later, just about all of the tables were taken and the parking lot was completely full. It is definitely a popular place but for good reason. Maine is a top 5 state for me, so I'll definitely be back someday, and for now will spread the word to others to come check this place out.

Such a simple, thoughtful gesture, and such a great first impression! When it was our turn to order, we were helped by an incredibly pleasant and patient woman. Despite the long line behind us, she never made us feel rushed and was completely focused on making sure she got our order right. Then there was our waitress. WOW! She was a blonde woman, maybe around 35, and she was absolutely amazing. She was working incredibly hard--literally running circles around everyone else--yet she never stopped smiling. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and amazingly efficient. My husband and I both agreed she was one of the best waitresses we have ever seen. At one point, in the middle of everything she was juggling, a customer asked her to roll up one of the blinds. The timing could not have been worse because she was SO busy, and she actually had to climb onto a stool to reach it. But you would never have known what an inconvenience it was. She smiled, took care of it, and went right back to work without missing a beat. My husband and I own fast-food restaurants, so we understand just how difficult it is to provide that level of hospitality when you're slammed. We were so impressed with her work ethic and attitude that before we left, we discreetly gave her a $100 tip. She absolutely deserved it. And somehow, the food managed to be just as impressive as the service. The lobster was, without question, THE BEST LOBSTER WE HAVE EVER HAD IN OUR LIVES!!! Perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious, and everything we hoped for when coming to Maine. Claws gave us one of those dining experiences we'll remember long after our trip is over.
