Unfortunately, I have had several bad experiences with this location. I have scheduled three routine teeth cleaning sessions, and the last two times I got to the office (on time), waited in the waiting area for 10-15 minutes, asked the staff behind the counter why I had been waiting, and they said they were busy, there were 2-3 people before me, and they would get to me. First, they did not mention this when I signed in; secondly, they were rude and condescending; and thirdly, I have a job and attempted to schedule the visits around lunch so I could get back to work. Rude employees, no respect for my time, and poor overall communication; sadly, we expect/deserve better. I will certainly be looking for a new neighborhood dentist! Honestly, when I think about it, I have nothing nice to say about the three visits (over the last 15 months) to this dentist's office. read more

My Dentist went from Pvt practice to this place. This Smilist Dental is a money machine. First of all I do not know of a Corporation that charges 4% on your credit card. Like I have 100 bucks cash on me. My dentist glued my tooth back which took 2 seconds and usually takes that on the arm. His new assistant ran to the desk to make sure they charged me. They also charged me for fluoride treatment because they failed to look that I had 3 coverages. They will stress you about money left and right. I read the reviews from River head office not surprised to read the bad reviews. I love my old dentist but him joining this organization I am sorry I am out. This is a predatory practice. My dentist is in the process of moving so I sent my daughter here, just for a cleaning while she's on break. They insisted she get X-rays after her cleaning. She just had X-rays in August but we could not reach our dentist to provide them on such short notice. They just kept saying it's covered. She has perfect teeth, not 1 cavity and Cindy the hygienist concurred, but the office manager insisted she get X-rays. She had already had the cleaning. They said it was a HIPPA violation if they didn't take the X-rays. This policy should be disclosed prior to treatment and we would have cancelled the appointment. The office manager was very aggressive. I told her not to take the X-rays on the phone, but then they basically held my daughter hostage until she agreed. Do not subject yourself to this predatory practice. Imagine what they'll charge you if you actually need work done! read more

I'll preface this with I know 100% that I am a a difficult dental patient. I have an extreme phobia and to top it have very little faith in the modern day dental industry in the states. I came in for an emergency dental visit due to some pain from a recent procedure(implant) that I did somewhere else. Admin and support staff were professional, office was clean, when I saw the dentist everything went downhill. He asked about my procedure and whom I did it with. I explained that my dentist was not available and that I just needed him to check for infection. It is common knowledge that most doctors hesitate to deal with other practitioners work. Perhaps it's a liability to them, insurance whatever. In this case I was fully aware and simply stated my dentist info was unavailable I am here for emergency visit to check for infection. At this point he's frustrated as am I and I am in pain he proceeds to threaten with refusal of care, for someone in pain, and feeling vulnerable already this just set me off. He proceeds to display typical disregard of my pain and focuses on my delivery which did not include verbal attacks, or profanity simply frustration. Whatever, my rec is to go confidently if you are a white person as your care will probably include the consideration of your pain. As a woman of color, this is a common occurrence in healthcare take your biz and needs else where. A good clue is that they have ZERO dentist of color working there while their support staff is diverse, typical. Anywho, fragile docs name is Mark Ragusa. Again avoid if you are of color. read more

The Smilist Whitestone used to be great when Dr. Morrissey and Dr. Stanescu were there. Hence, I have been a loyal patient for the past few years. However, my recent appointments with Dr. Lew have been the WORST experience I've ever had with a dentist. My grandmother and I were both seen by her a few times, and we were met with an unfriendly and abrupt demeanor for all of our appointments. Dr. Lew walks in without saying hello to either of us. She doesn't explain in detail and gets annoyed when you ask questions and rolls her eyes to her side like we can't notice. She never made us feel comfortable to ask questions and when I did ask a question, she defensively proceeded to tell me to get a second opinion in a very unpleasant and rude tone of voice. I am a healthcare provider myself and that is absolutely not how you talk to your patients. Dr. Lew needs to be retrained on bedside manners and have more compassion when it comes to communicating care to elderly patients and their family. We will stop coming to the smilist and don't recommend this practice to others. read more

Hi, I went to this dentist because it was close to my job, I wanted to get a cleaning, so I said let me give them a try. I was surprised to see they were located in a strip mall. The front desk receptionist was pleasant until I asked to use the restroom. She said it was broken I needed to go to the nearby restaurant. I was not pleased with her answer and ask to speak to the dentist, she began to get very rude. She must have told the dentist about how I felt about giving my money to them but having to walk to a restaurant to use the restroom. The dentist did not introduce herself and she was rude. I told them, I don't think I'm asking for too much, waited to see the dentist for over an hour and simply questioning why I needed to go to a restaurant to use the bathroom. Background 1) was looking to fix a protruding top front tooth. I had braces over 20 years ago, teeth are relatively straight. Would consider myself a light case. Background 2) A previous dentist from diff practice (not ortho) charged me $3500 for what he advertised as Invisalign but was actually a diff brand- Clear Correct. Experience at Smilist: the only ortho on staff Dr F says my case is more complex because my overbite will soon cause my bones to grind down and therefore I need to fix both my top and bottom with Invisalign. Quotes me $7k. Before writing this review: went for ANOTHER consult at a diff practice to be fair to this SMilist. Verdict: I got Invisalign for both top and bottom for $4k. Asked him about that diminishing bones- it's something that happens to a lot of people but not concerning enough to require both top and bottom to prevent it and certainly not alarming enough to treat it. Conclusion: Do your homework before you get ripped off. 2 stars for office professionalism and patient service. read more

This place is a JOKE! I wasn't going to review them UNTIL I received a call from one of their receptionist letting me know that my order was ready. First off, I started going to this place maybe about 3 or 4 years ago. On my first visit I had an older gentleman dentist see me and told me I needed to get a root canal. Ok, no problem. Visit went fine and was scheduled to come back to complete the procedure. Came back maybe a week later and in enters the beginning of MY NIGHTMARE AKA Dr. Hwang!!! She told me I needed 2 more root canals. Fine. No problem. Next thing you know, she had me coming in almost every Friday, because she was doing everything step by step. I asked her how many more times I would need to come in in order to finish and she gave me the most DISGUSTING attitude and said WE HAVE TO TAKE OUR TIME AND DO ONE BY ONE STEP BY STEP! Please bear in mind, this was NOT my first time having a root canal and when I had them done before, it only took 2 visits to complete! Ok, whatever. She took the measurements to my teeth for the root canals and made some temporary caps for them until my real ones come in. ON MY WAY HOME one of them cracked! Considering the fact that I can't stand her and the loooooong waits I had to endure, I said eff it, I'll leave it like that til they call me for my permanent ones. KEYWORD: UNTIL THEY CALL ME! (Which is what they said they would do). 3 months passed by and I get a call saying that my permanent ones came in. I go in and what does Dr. Hwang say? I can't put them in because you waited too long to come in and the shape of your gums might have changed. You'll have to get new ones and you'll have to pay for them! I waited too long?!!! Your receptionist JUST CALLED ME FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! How the hell was I supposed to know when they were going to come in especially when they told me they would call ME!!! I didn't say any of this to her, because I didn't wanna come out of character, but at this very moment, I wanted to just scream in her face and tell her all kinds of things! It's hard enough finding a good dentist, but to have to deal with this BULL****. OMG! I just get enraged of thinking about it even now! So that's it! I never went back! I realized that all of those visits were being scheduled because she OBVIOUSLY wanted to bill my insurance which paid for every little thing she would bill them for. AMAZING! AWESOME! INCREDIBLE! This place is immaculately clean, and the staff is so friendly, professional, and helpful with your needs. Also, a great plus is plenty of parking available! Not only is she extremely professional, but by the same token she is thorough, sweet, friendly, she makes you feel so comfortable. First dentist in my life I hope to never lose. I have referred a ton of people to her and everyone is so happy. I along with my father have been coming to the Northern Flushing Dental practice for a number of years . Under the leadership of Dr. Schmuley who is an ultimate professional . He and the other dentists on staff answers all my questions and makes sure to address my concerns. The office has been revamped and is beautiful and he has brought in the latest technological equipment in dentistry. I also give kudos to the others dentists - Dr. Christina Hwang , Dr. Stanescu and the dental assistants and office staff. Finally, the dental office is located at a central location, has convenient hours 7 days a week and the entire staff is pleasant and professional.
