I recommend this restaurant great people and food. It was my first time on Friday 13th of December…read more I went to celebrate a very special person's Anniversary and it was warm and very beautiful occasion. The food was delicious the options for the occasion was Pasta pasta fagioli, eggplant parmigiana and baked cod. The pasta fagioli was delicious I won't show my plate I started right away so not pic worthy tasted the eggplant which was good and the fish this heard was served previously steamed vegetables this tine was served with rice I was tempted to order bite eggplant and fish to go next time. Check them out if you can not a big place but it's good...

Cusano Catering does your traditional Italian favorites, and at lunch they have a variety of sandwiches and salads to choose from, plus a few specials. The specials are written on a whiteboard, and samples of each dish are also neatly and adorably displayed in a glass case on the counter. (The baked chicken special yesterday looked really good.) I've only gotten lunch to go, but there's a cute counter to sit at and a few small tables in the dining area. There appears to be a lot of regulars at lunchtime, which makes sense because the staff is very warm and welcoming, and it feels like the food is made and served with love. In terms of sandwiches, everything I've had has been very good. The eggplant parm and meatball subs are quality, and cold cuts are sliced fresh when you order. I'm a big fan of the Italian combo. The salads at the counter all look great, and one day I might treat myself to a dessert (they have a number of baked goods and also different flavors of gelato). I got a fruit salad yesterday to go with my sub, and it was very fresh and delicious. This place is cash only, and parking is a little tight - just a few spaces in back. I work within a reasonable walking distance, so when it's nice out, and I have cash on me, I'm willing to make the walk over.

We are all still talking about the lovely dinner they whipped up. My husband who does not like vegetables, LOVED THE VEGETABLES!! I don't really like meat, but I LOVED THE CHICKEN over beautiful fresh squash. We couldn't get enough and went home very full and satisfied. The staff were so lovely, comfortable, generous and competent. Thankful for their time and talent.

Working with SKBT and Karen has been a joy from start to finish. From the moment we walked into our tasting to create our delicious menu, to last minute changes, to executing perfect food the day of, I want to relive this experience again and again. My guests raved about the menu, and some favorites included fun takes on cocktail meatballs, shrimp and grits, and chilled tomato soup shooters. The food was beautiful and displayed like it was in a magazine. Karen and her team were also in charge of staffing my event. This meant not only did they feed my guests, but bussed the tables, cleaned up trash, set up my pie display (Karen took it upon herself to clean out her stock of cake stands and create the most beautiful tables ever) and EVEN mop my bathroom trailer when it sprung a leak. As guests started to leave, SKBT cleaned every table and organized my decor. Best of all, Karen and her team were friendly and attentive the entire night. My bridal party had their own tray of appetizers waiting for them immediately following the ceremony, and all night the staff checked in on my husband and I (as well as my parents) to see how they could help. I eagerly look forward to having another event so I can hire this team again.

Their Sanctuary Kitchen project bolsters another objective -- encouraging fairness and participation in the entrepreneurial aspects of food business. As I understand Sanctuary Kitchen, they offer fair wage employment opportunities in a food catering and grab and go type business to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. I believe these people are encouraged to help expose people to world cuisines that are meaningful to them. You can order food for pickup at designated times. You can also buy the food at the Farmers Markets. I recently visited the Sunday City Seed Market at Edgewood Park near the Westville neighborhood of New Haven. There were a variety of foods. I grabbed a tasty hunmus and a box of the donut style falafel. Both good. But I was really intrigued by the Iraqi food offerings because I haven't knowingly had Iraqi food. I bought Iraqi Carrot and Dill rice, Iraqi Lentil Soup and Iraqi Vegetable Curry Soup. Since I'm not experienced in Iraqi cuisine, I can't speak to authenticity or make a comparative quality analysis. The food seemed nutrient rich. I'm not sure if this a cultural thing or the preference of the individual cook, I think the food needed a bit more salt across the board. Also, in terms of texture, the rice was good, but the soups seemed a bit overcooked and had a softer texture than I would expect. I was happy to have a chance to try these foods and I applaud the mission of City Seed. 4.25 Stars
