Leaving 5 stars because the food here is absolutely amazing! We used to drive 35 minutes to visit when the restaurant was in Bolingbrook, so we are thrilled to have The Soul Spot now in Aurora. That being said, I do want to offer some constructive feedback because I truly want to see this restaurant succeed. The service feels a bit unpolished at the moment. During our visit, it took over 15 minutes before anyone greeted our table or offered drinks. A simple acknowledgment such as, "Hi, welcome in! We'll be right with you," would go a long way in making guests feel comfortable while they wait. I also noticed the table next to us had a similar experience, waiting about 15 minutes to be greeted and then another 15+ minutes for drinks. They turned around a few times to complain to us about not being greeted yet. Consistent delays like that could negatively impact the guest experience, even though the food itself is outstanding. I completely understand that opening a new restaurant comes with challenges, and I share this only because I want you to thrive. With some additional training and focus on hospitality, I believe the service can match the quality of the food. Our community has been missing a great soul food spot, and I truly want to see The Soul Spot flourish here in Aurora!

Slow service, food is terrible! Canned pinto beans and collard greens. Gnats flying around, I guess if you want extra meat with your meal, this is the spot. People walking around with no purpose while customers that have been sitting for 20 minutes. Do better people!

Make food from scratch, listen carefully to the customer before you make the order. I wonder do the owners know how the business is running.

Fresh food takes time and it was worth it. I have never tasted fried chicken like that. We will definitely be back.

Other restaurants need to do this as we were blinded at a bar nearby days before. I digress. CJ was our awesome bartender, super attentive and friendly and made the best lavender drop. We tried an array of appeti, ers and all were good: chicken tenders, sloders and pepperoni pizza. The happy hour deals are great, nice to see a burbs location push happy hour past 5pm because um...we all have jobs.

I started with the salted watermelon margarita, which was tasty and refreshing with a nice fruity flavor. It wasn't overly strong, making it easy to sip throughout the meal. For appetizers, we shared the spinach dip, calamari, and buffalo bites. The spinach dip was good, and the chips had a nice salty crunch. The calamari was pretty standard, but there was way too much breading, the squid-to-breading ratio was way off. For my entrée, I ordered the steak bowl. Unfortunately, it wasn't that great. The menu description mentioned quinoa and brown rice, but they were practically nonexistent. There were maybe a few grains of brown rice in the entire dish, and it mostly consisted of a handful of steak cubes and vegetables. The flavor and sauce were good, but it wasn't very filling. Thankfully, I had already filled up on the appetizers. For dessert, I tried the crème brûlée cheesecake. Honestly, it was nothing special and tasted like a thawed frozen cheesecake with some cheap berry compote on the side. Overall, Yard House is a fine option for hosting large groups thanks to its spacious setup, but I wouldn't come here expecting amazing food. The experience was fine, but the food itself was pretty average at most.

When we're in town, we hit up all the old favorites, and Miller's Ale House was on the menu on June 25th. We had dinner plans with friends later, but we squeezed in a lunch date with beer and a shared appetizer. Their wings are legendary, so we ordered 12 to go with our brews. Let's get to the review. Service was top-notch - our host greeted us with a smile, and our waiter was on point. We got our beers within five minutes, no problem. The ambiance was cozy, well-lit, and bustling with sports tv and ambient noise. But here's the kicker - we waited 30 minutes for our wings. Yeah, it was 1:30 when we arrived and the place was pretty empty, but that's no excuse. Now why did give a rating of two? Well, for the service and ambiance only. We were served our wings at 2:00. How were the wings you maybe wondering? My Husband and I eagerly grab wing flats. 'Can these bones live?' Eating those wings immediately reminded me of Ezekiel 37 in the Old testament after he saw skeletons scattered about asked, "Can these bones live?" The wings were drier than the Sahara, and the honey barbecue sauce was just a weak attempt to revive the corpse. Can these dry out wings live up to being freshly made and juicy covered up by a tasty honey barque sauce? Hell to the naw, naw naw!!! We called our waiter over explained our dissatisfaction with a request to remove the wings off our bill. We still tipped him, because hey, he's not the wing assassin. since he only served the food and it was the kitchen that prepared that saucy dressed up trash plated up real pretty. What a let down Miller's. We noticed your price increase for six wings cut in half sold as 12 pieces. If you expect customers to pay more for less than you should be serving your best, that is cooked fresh not food that is precooked sitting for hours then reheated. I did check your reviews which were not the best and gave you the benefit of a doubt despite low ratings. Would I recommend Miller's? Sure, if you enjoy eating dry wings and wondering if they'll crawl off your plate. However, to each their own, your money, your call. This economy has got me rethinking the whole 'strike three and you're out' deal. Paying more for less, subpar service, unnecessary waiting time, honey it is now, strike one, you're on out as my time and coins are valuable and restaurants are hurting so I will search for one where I can get the love I deserve.
