I have mixed reviews about this place. Let me start with the positives. The interior lobby area is very clean. The staff is extremely friendly and they seem to really enjoy and care for the dogs that customers bring in. The dogs have a nice area to run around cage-free in the back and it seems to be very clean back there too. They have a camera in the lobby area where customers can see their pups roaming around. All great. However, I was not completely satisfied with my pup's cut. I was able to get the instructions of my previous groomer in San Diego and provided them to The Spaw because I loved how they groomed her. When I got her back her hair was much shorter than I expected and also she had a couple of knicks on her right paw. I noticed after my dog continuously kept licking her paw. It wasn't gushing blood or anything but it was still bleeding. I appreciated that one of the staff alerted me to a potential ear infection and they were able to clean my dog's ears out very well. They suggested I use a swab dipped in vinegar to clean out the ear until the infection subsides but after doing some research I learned that you're never supposed to use swabs for the dogs' ears because it may potentially push debris into the ear canal or rupture the ear drum. Only gauze or cotton balls are recommended. Not sure I would return simply because of the price. The prices aren't outrageous but more than what I used to pay at my last groomer where I was completely satisfied. If I was completely satisfied I wouldn't mind paying more, but I wouldn't rule out trying them again. read more

I have really mixed feelings about The Spaw. I brought in my 11 month year old puppy in today for a bath/grooming and daycare. Bathing/ Grooming: I was really disappointed in the bath/ grooming. I noticed that my puppy got nicked in several areas. I'm not going to lie -- I have a very hyper, playful puppy and it is quite a feat to get him to stay still. Regardless, he's been bathed/ groomed elsewhere and has never been cut/ nicked in the process. Additionally, I preferred his grooming aesthetically from the other groomer. Boarding/ Daycare: My puppy had a great time in daycare. We were greeted with a cute sign in front of the store. Additionally, the play area seemed much nicer than what you see at petsmart. There is also a separate room for older dogs and dogs that I assume don't socialize well. You can also watch your puppy on screen outside. I know everyone loves this place. But I find this place just ok. I think I hyped it a little too much in my head. I asked for my 2.5 lb pup to be completely shaved on his stomach, head haircut to be look bigger than his body cut and those 2 things weren't done....Plus his body cut came out really uneven. I did posted some photos on here as well. I had to touch up on him when I got back. It was $58 for the whole cut. I'm sure my dog just had one little matte spot since I'd been brushing him everyday and they charge an extra $5. So with tip it came out to $71 total. That's even more than my hair touch up. Lol They did do an excellent job with nail and brushing his teeth. His little bandana was very cute too. Everyone was very friendly here. read more

The Spaw is a second family to our Cooper. I just don't know where we could of found a more special place. When my daughter wanted a dog in 2012 we were so hesitant because I worried where to take a dog for grooming and boarding. I just didn't trust anybody after hearing stories from family members. I wanted someone to treat our dog as special as we would when would travel and not be worried so I always told her no about having a dog. One day I was BLESSED to stumble upon The Spaw after I dropped off my daughter for a tumbling class at Diva's that use to be around the corner. I saw a women leaving with her dog who was just groomed and I quickly researched The Spaw the second I got home. I was so impressed and the reviews were so COMFORTING. The idea of owning a puppy quickly changed and after waiting for a Shih Tzu from our breeder our Cooper was ours. :D When we first brought in Cooper to The Spaw we were so new at taking care of a puppy. Carrie checked him over before his first grooming and let us know he had a mild ear infection from the smell of his ears. We had no idea and suggested we have Cooper checked out at our vet the next day. We were so grateful she noticed this because Cooper did have an infection that needed to be treated for 10 days. If it wasn't for Carrie and being as knowledgeable as she is we would've never known. It was from this day on Cooper makes regular trips to the Spaw for grooming, boarding and the BEST food since he is on the SAD diet. Everyone at The Spaw is so sweet and we are always so impressed how CLEAN it is. You would never know there were dogs inside. It's immaculate! They treat your dog like it's their own; it really just doesn't get any better. :D When I see negative reviews on here I get angry since people can often jump to conclusions and point fingers too quickly. If your unsure how your dog or even cat will do at The Spaw they will go out of their way to make you feel assured. You can't ask for anything more. I've seen it! It makes me smile when I do because it's not a show and it reminds me our dog is in the best hands. My daughter loves Periscope!! There are GOOD reasons why people love this place so much! I decided to treat my puppy a clean-up for the holidays, while I have a moment to myself to catch a discounted movie this morning. I called yesterday and they were able to squeeze us in around 11am so I can catch my movie at 11:45. This morning I left the house in the rain, feeling a little down since this is my one day off and the weather was not the best. When I got to the address, I felt like my iPhone with the crappy Apple app has taken me to the wrong place, as I circled around for a good 15 mins, and ended up in front of a Korean restaurant. I called them at 11:10 asking for directions. By the time I found the place I was 15 mins late. For anyone who's never been there, they are located on the end o the Second last building in the Tustin Business Center, on Franklin Ave. They really should put up a HUGE sign coz people love this place! As I walked in the store, I saw the big screen displaying the doggy day-care, where dogs are dancing happily. The attendance was super friendly (Sorry I forgot her name!) I have a 5lbs poodle, so she estimated the Cleanup to be $35, $45 with the Kiss me package. Upon looking at Oliver's patched hair that my friend did, she asked me if I'd like to add haircut since he looked like Albert Eisenstein. I told her I had just gotten my first paycheck and I can't really afford that extra $20+, so maybe next time. I took off to the movie for the next 3 hours, and came back to a full house. I had to wait a little bit, only because the attendance was very attentive to all the customers and spent quality time to make sure their pets were taken care of. In the mean time I was laughing at Oliver coz he just kept running around after the dog caregivers wanting some human love (he's not really a doggy person... wait??) the 1.5 hour doggy day-care was a very nice gesture, no dark and compact cages for your furry friends! If your pup doesn't like to social, there's a slightly smaller but still open area for them. When it was my turn, the attendance said to me" Ohh I hope you are okay with this..." I was scared for a little bit since I wasn't sure what was coming. "I know you said you wanted to save the money so you didn't want a haircut, but Oliver had little patches all over him, so our stylist decided to give him a little haircut free of charge and he looks so cute! I hope you are okay with it!" Are you kidding?! I was more than OKAY with it! I have never come across any business that throws in a full service! I just kept saying thank you coz I was speechless. Then she hands me the bill for just the clean-up. I told her she's forgotten to charge me for the teeth-brushing, and she said "hey don't worry about it we got it all!" I said a million thanks but it was just amazing. What a nice little gift for Christmas and New Year for a young adult that just started her career! Totally made my day! These people truly love what they do, and they treat your little furry friend like their own children, with care and love! How do I know? I am thrilled I found the Spaw on Yelp! Here's to another sucessful Yelp find. My baby Bailie has been going to the same grooming salon for over 2 years, but over the past couple of months Bailie seems unhappy and I was very happy with them as well. They do half-ass jobs and are fairly young and not as experienced or mature, therefore their result shows. Bailie went to the Spaw for the first time this past Saturday. The Spaw is located in a corporate area...they are behind the Maids office with cute potted plants on the outside. The main reception area is small but more than enough space for getting in and out, plus they have a wide selection of dog foods, clothing and treats. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Milly, Carrie's dog (the owner). The cute thing was laying on the floor relaxing. Bailie wanted to play, but Milly did not bother. There's a large screen TV that shows the dogs in the back playing with eachother, they do not cage dogs here...which is one of the main reasons why I wanted to try the Spaw. Carrie inspected Bailie to make sure he is healthy, no fleas, no medical issues, etc. before this cut and bath. She was informative and asked what type of cut we wanted for Bailie. I wanted a cute teddy-bear cut but wasnt sure how I wanted his face to be shaped...I told her they can do what they want as long as he comes out cute. She recommended a round cut and that's what we went with. Carrie took Bailie into the play-yard to see how he got along with the other dogs...he seems fine after a couple of minutes. We left and were quoted about 2.5 hours for his bath and cut. We came back about 2.5 hours later and Bailie was about done. Usually, when we pick him up from the groomer he is extremely happy to see us he would scream and pee on us (just a little). he would also scream SO much prior to going in that we would feel guilty everytime. He did not do any of these at the Spaw. He was calm when we got it in and very calm and happy when he got out....he did not bother run to us, no screaming...just very calm and relaxed. His groomer said he did very well, did not move much when he was getting his cut and shampoo. He was well behaved. Looking back, I am horrified that we took him to the groomer that he hated...wish we would of found Spaw sooner and recognized all the signs that he was unhappy. When he came home from Spaw, he was tired from playing and was such a good boy. Not to mention his cut was so adorable! Loved what they did to his ears....they were almost like layered and it made his face look very round. His previous groomer would just his ears straight, most of the time...they were uneven. I am extremely happy with Spaw so far, their staff seems calm, happy and know what they are doing. Carrie is wonderful with her knowledge and seems to take great pride in her work. The reason why I am giving Spaw 4 instead of 5 stars is because this was Bailie's first time here..I'd like for him to come back a couple more times in order to find out if the service is consistant. read more

Thank you, Yelp! My dog Ginny was getting a pretty furry and I couldn't see her face too well so I had to take her to the groomers. I'm so glad I went here. The store was a little hard for me to look for so it took a while for me to find it. Store is very small and cramped. It was a little crowded so it took them a little bit of time to help me. They were very friendly to my dog which was a good sign to me. In total, it took 2 hours to groomed my dog since there was 10 dogs in front of her. I was impressed that they had a cage free room where the dogs can play together until it's their time. Good thing they asked me if she was spayed or else that would have sucked. I wished they had a big window for me to look to see but I would probably stay there the whole day just going "aww." At least they had a monitor. They asked me a lot of questions in regards to what style/cut did I want. I don't have a clue. I just told them half of her hair seemed good, whatever they think she will look cute in and Ginny needs to have a bow on each ear like Lady and the Tramp. They totally delivered. NEVER AGAIN NEVER! I give 2 stars just because had few good experience. In the past 3 months, had 2terrible experience... First was the time that they cut the belly's skin of my little girl... had to pay $100 for the hospital; however it doesn't matter. They promised that not going to happen again. Last time I asked them for a short hair cut just just just for the coat. NO haircut in the head I repeated it for 10 times. They called me during the work time and asked me do u want to have a head hair cut for her?!?!?! What?! Really..... If it is hard to remember sth so please write it down. When I first saw all these 5 star reviews I questioned if they were legit- safe to say I was wrong and they are well deserved. Story: I am new to the Irvine area and defaulted to taking my pup to the big name stores. After going to Petsmart grooming a few times and noticing how anxious/ whiny my pup got when we arrived - I realized I needed to make a change. I turned to trusty Yelp (which I should have done in the first place) and found The Spaw and had my first experience today. This place and the people are AWESOME! It's hidden in an office park and once you walk in, it's like a doggy sanctuary. The people are incredibly kind and you can tell they love animals and their jobs. My favorite part is they let your pup hang out with the other dogs before and after they get groomed (you can also watch them on screens to see how they are doing and they have Periscope!) it's like a puppy play date/ spa day! They did a great job with my pup's haircut and he got a cute little bandana. Safe to say I will be a return customer. I'm so happy I found this place! The Spaw rocks! For those of you who think of your pets as family and want only the best for them, this place is a true find! I took my dachshund here for a 'clean-up' -- bath, nail-trimming, ear cleaning, anal gland expressing, etc. and wow, they did an amazing job. From the minute we walked in the door they were very friendly and helpful, and immediately made my little guy feel comfortable. I really liked that they use holistics products and they keep him cage free, as this stuff can be a little traumatic for a poochie. Not only that but when I picked him up he came out with his tail wagging and he was giving kisses to the staff -- which I know means he was treated well cuz my little guy doesn't kiss just anyone. ;-) They also offere doggie day care --of which you get a complementary 1.5 hours of after a service -- a nice treat. They also offer all day doggie day care for $25. I pay more than that at another place which I also really like but thinking maybe I will try The Spaw since it's about $11 cheaper per day. I didn't get a haircut so I can't say much about the bad haircut review listed below but for 'clean-up' services I seriously can't imagine a better experience! :-) read more

The Spaw is awesome!!! I have a mini long haired dachshund named Noodle and I honestly am too lazy to brush her more than once a week. Her undercoat ends up growing out like crazy and makes her look kind of grey and fluffy (the bad kind of fluffy). By the time I get around to bringing her to The Spaw, the longer hairs behind her ears have been matted down and her feet look dirty/fluffy, too. I have dropped her off first thing in the morning where she gets a full clean-up -- bath, trim around her butt and feet, nails trimmed, teeth cleaned, ears cleaned, and anal glands expressed (that's a big one for Noodle since she experienced a ruptured sac once before). Also, gets the furminator deal to get all those fluffy flyaways. She can stay for doggy daycare all day until I pick her up after work and is happily worn out by the time I get there! The Spaw is very affordable, and everyone who works here is just the sweetest to my Noodle-girl and to me, too! Definitely treat your dog to a nice spa day! read more

Made an appointment to get my chunky 12lb cat groomed, he's a rescue and while he does an OK job of keeping himself clean he in no way measures up to my standards of cleanliness, so I called around to get him bathed. The Spaw was the first location I found that specializes solely in cats, and my god are they professionals! He came out happy as a clam, he was chilling in the donut bed upon my arrival, and he is fresh as a daisy. Coat cleaned, undercoat gone, tidied up around his man bits, all perfection (or dare I say purr-fection?) Everyone here was so calm, welcoming, friendly, and knowledgable about cats and their needs I am astounded. Pricing is more than fair ($55 for a large-cat groom? Outrageous, so value laden for the service provided) and booking was a breeze!! If you are looking for hands-down the best service at the best price you need to bring your furry baby to the Spaw, we will not be going elsewhere, perfection has been found! I can't say enough great things about The Spaw! From their wonderful staff to the place itself. I have a 6 year old pug named Blue that is my pride and joy. He is very a mellow but not at times, loves people, and like any pug has a lot of Health conditions that I am always looking to learn different ways to improve his health. I first started going to The Spaw because every groomer I have been to can't get his ears or nails the way they need to be. I wish I had found this place years ago. It is also amazing that they board and do daycare! The whole package in one! Everytime I pick him up he gets a seasoned bandana! Blue is always so happy and he doesn't break out in hives a few days after getting a bath from the groomer. The staff is great! Carrie the owner was the first to introduce herself to me after a couple of visits and knew Blue very well. It's a peace of mind walking in and having the staff know who is he =]. Everyone is always so welcoming and I am always asking questions about what a can do to improve his well being. Not to mention if he was itching himself in a certain area they were right on top of checking it and letting me know. Always giving me advice on what I should do. You know they care and plus they have so many pups there and they give every one of them undivided attention. Everytime I'm there and a pup walks in with their owner the members greet every pup like they have known them for so long. I appreciate the members of The Spaw so much! I've fallen in love! =] The atmosphere of the spaw is like literally walking I to a spa for dogs! Lol it's very clean, a TV where you could watch your pups play and a little doggie store too! My sister raved about this place for our little beagle to get groomed. When I came to visit California, my sister made an appointment to drop him off. The entire week I was there my beagle's coat was so soft! She requested a an oatmeal shampoo, which I guess made him smell pretty good too. We have taken him to other groomers in the past and the past groomers would have to drag him in. This time, he happily went in. This place has open areas to let the dogs play before and after grooming. They just recently expanded with a coffee station for pet owners to indulge in while you wait and there is also video monitoring. Once they are done, they give you a call, so you can run errands while the dog is getting cleaned up. The staff are really friendly and the dogs seem really happy to get groomed here. Our dog is a low maintenance dog, but my sister has been happy to find a place where our dog was happy to go to. read more

I've been going to The Spaw for over 5 years now, I'm a helicopter pet parent and The Spaw is SAFE! They don't allow the dogs into the play area with their collars because they can get hurt. They also let them pee in the designated pee area inside the play area so you don't have to worry about the dogs escaping while on a walk to pee (They don't take them outside). They don't allow big breeds like Pittbulls. They have tubs that drain as they wash the dogs so you don't have to worry about them drowning, they also have security video cameras playing all day in every room. THANK YOU GUYS FOR CARING FOR OUR BABIES LIKE WE CARE FOR THEM. In regards to Grooming, I've never had a problem even thought my dog is known to use her paws a lot and squirms even with me when I shower her. read more

Thanks to Yelp (of course) I finally found a place where I'm comfortably taking Bosley for his grooming needs. Anyone who owns a poodle or poodle mix understand the frustration of finding a good groomer. I've had my share of disastrous and bad groomers and trust me, the bad ones can be REALLY bad!! Taking Bosley here is literally like taking him to his own spaw day. He gets a whole day of pampering needs and he actually ENJOYS IT!! Bosley is a pretty smart dog and he'll know if I'm taking him to the groomers and he'll start shaking and being anxious like crazy. But he actually looks forward to going inside the Spaw!! That's when I knew I made the right choice for him. The people here are the best! They genuinely care for your dog and treat them with the best care! They give him the best treatment when he's comes and also does a great job! I've been meaning to get Bosley's teeth cleaned but was hesitant of putting him under, but for $25 the Spaw had taken all the tartar off his teeth and now they're sparkly and white! The best about this place is cage free!! You can watch your doggies play with all his doggy buddies from the tv outside and it really helps putting your mind at ease knowing that they're doing ok. The only downside to this place is that it is PRICEY! But you get what you pay for and I'd rather pay more for the best utmost care than save a little money. read more

I've been going to the spa for over 10 years! They are truly amazing! The staff and the management and owner are on point. My 2 dogs smell like heaven on earth ever they come home. Not only are they happy but they are extremely well treated. I can get them groomed but I can get cleanup's and buy dog food. The owner always helps me with any sort of ideas for bladder infections or probiotics for my pups. The store is well-maintained and they have cameras so you can watch your pet socialize with other dogs. The Spa even has dog sitting for weekends or extended times. Also they'll keep your pet for a few hours after grooming free of charge. My experience has always been amazing, for my pets and for my family. I'm so happy to have to have found this place! My dog is a mutt (Jack Russel, American Eskimo, Papillon mix), so I feel like groomers tend to have trouble grooming him, because he doesn't look like a specific breed of dog. When I took him to get groomed in the past, he would always come home looking weird, but at The Spaw he always comes home looking dapper as ever. I also love bringing my dog here because the staff is always sweet and knowledgeable and they all seem to love their job. The Spaw has made a big difference in my life over the years, and my dog Todd's! He is a rescue with quirks, meaning we tried other boarding facilities without success. He came home from other facilities stressed and thirsty, but always comes home "good tired" from the Spaw. And the people there - Carrie, Brisa, and everyone - are phenomenal! Just one example, when Todd was in for daycare a few years ago, my mom slipped and fell at the tide pools in Corona Del Mar, breaking her arm and leg. The Spaw graciously agreed to board Todd for four extra nights even with no reservation. My mom and I watched him from the hospital each evening on the Periscope stream as she recovered from surgery - Todd's "grandma" is now fully recovered and still enjoys watching him when he stays there! Life happens, and sometimes you just can't include your canine family. The Spaw feels like sending a kid to camp and alleviates that heartache. The socialization with both people and dogs is great for Todd. I can rest easy knowing he is in structured, attentive, thoughtful care - so much so that after we moved to San Diego, we still drive up to board Todd at the Spaw. This review is long over due. I've been bringing my baby, Lucky a Terrier mix to the Spaw for 1 1/2 years. Lucky is a regular there. Doggie day care 5 days a week, grooming and boarding there too. Each time we arrive at the Spaw, Lucky practically yanks my arm off pulling me to their front door. Carrie and her staff are truly wonderful people. They're always happy to help and take the time to talk with you. Lucky use to have a skin condition and stomach problems, and with Carries help Lucky no longer has to be on medication. Lucky always looks so darn cute after each grooming, I get so many compliments on his cut. When I use to take him to other groomers, I would bring them Lucky's special shampoo and conditioner which wasn't cheap. Taking him to the Spaw, I don't have to do that. They use only the very best there. Also, no one like's to leave there animal over night, but when I leave Lucky I know he's in the best of hands. I could, go on and on. You just have to try the Spaw for yourself. You won't be sorry. read more

I love The Spaw! Carrie and her staff are amazing! I took my baby boy Gandalf in today to get a standard schnauzer cut, and it's always on point. I've been to several groomers and even used mobile groomers, and I have to say that The Spaw always gives Gandalf the perfect cut. In addition to getting groomed, he gets 1.5 hour play date time with the other dogs. I wish there was another Spaw in the valley, but Carrie is one of those awesome owners who overlooks every detail and genuinely cares about all the pets that step thru her doors. I travel from Burbank to The Spaw (located in Tustin! So an hour away without traffic!) when I need to get my mini schnauzer groomed. This place is SO worth it! The prices are reasonable, and with an extra 1.5 of play time, it's definitely worth the money! I do recommend that you book in advance. Same day booking could be hard, so don't be upset if they can't squeeze you in. They're busy and do quality work. I usually book a week in advance or maybe two. Love this place and I definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and family! read more

I just started taking my dog Sadie here for grooming, and I absolutely LOVE it! The staff is always so nice and are careful to ask for what I want done to Sadie, like the length of her hair, what services I want done, etc... They also have cameras in their facility and allow the dogs to play in a nice, open space. When she's done, Sadie always comes out looking so cute with a little bandana or bow. Carrie and everyone at the SPAW are amazing! I have a senior dog with multiple medical needs (collapsing trachea, seizures, torn ACL) and I've been apprehensive to have her groomed due to her medical needs in particular her collapsing trachea. I spoke to Carrie about my concerns with my dog and she suggested I bring my dog in first to be assessed. Carrie was caring and gentle and upon assessment was able to shave my dog's hair. During her second appointment, Carrie was able to complete the rest of my dog's grooming needs. Carrie always made sure my dog was comfortable and even made accommodations for her to be groomed in a separate area to not trigger her collapsing trachea condition. I'm so glad I was able to find this place and will definitely continue to bring my dog here. If you have a dog that has any medical needs and still needs to be groomed, this is a place that you can trust! read more

The Spaw should be THE destination for all dog owners within Orange County. Near or far, we have continued to bring our pups here throughout the years. Dog after dog, my family has been dedicated to this small business and with good reason. The Spaw has continued to treat our pets as we would treat them. Not only are their haircuts meticulous, humane and just plain ADORABLE, their hair cuts are tailored to our specific needs. We've called for silly haircuts for our pooches, and we've gotten them with the most flawless execution. Our dogs are always returned happy and in great condition. We've recently had to use the Spaw for our boarding needs. We went on a vacation to Mexico for 10 days and our pups were left with the Spaw. We were absolutely floored by how closely they watched each and every one of our dogs, and they entertained every silly request we made. We left our dogs without leads but with plenty of foods and the Spaw provided snacks. We were crazy dog parents and called nearly every day from Mexico and the Spaw entertained our silly questions and ensured our dogs were in good hands. We even got to see them on the Spaw's instagram (even more reassuring for us). Overall, this is the best facility and we will continue taking our dogs here, even though it's no longer geographically convenient, the Spaw is worth the drive! read more

When I have the money to groom my Shih Tzu, I take her here.. I wouldnt take her anywhere else... They are super sweet to the pups there and do such an amazing job on her "puppy cut"... After reading all the negative reviews i feel like those people are talking about a completely different place. I LOVE the spaw! I have been taking my dog there for 3 years now. I have tried 3 other places but always find myself back here. The owner (Carrie) is literally a dog guru, she know everything and anything you need to know, she has helped me in so many ways i am very grateful. As for the service, it's great, i've never been disappointed picking up Koopa because he looks fantastic everytime. I've even taken him here and told them to do whatever cut they want on him and have been just as happy. I really trust The Spaw, and never have a bad thought when i drop Koopa off,they even have a TV set up in the waiting room so you can see your dog in the play area. Its also great they are kennel free. He has also boarded here and we had no problems. Best staff and best owner, you can tell they take pride in their work and services. read more
