Wow. Where to begin with this horrendous experience. We had very high hopes as we love Spanish and…read moreLatin Cuisine. The problem started when we walked in the door. We made reservations on Open Table, and I wanted to ensure I got my points. The computer is down.......sorry. They let us to a high top table. I do not want a high top. Took many minutes to decide which table to seat us at. We were there when they opened at 4pm and were the ONLY customers in the restaurant. When we left at 5:45pm we were STILL the only customers in the restaurant. Finally they seated us at a table. The absolute most uncomfortable chairs in the history of dining. Chairs with wooden bottoms. They explained that there was a concert this evening, and the place was booked full. OK. why not explain that on the web-site, so we could come another night. Or better yet, don't accept reservations for that evening. The noise level was horrible. Everyone of the staff scurrying around, moving tables, and chairs, setting up the speakers. Yelling, yelling, yelling, yelling. Could not hear myself think. Then, one of the owners opens a cabinet, and around 50 glasses come tumbling out, crashing to the floor and breaking. OK accidents happen. Then the performer arrived. Sorry, I do not know who he is, but the entire staff did and were very excited. They dropped everything and started taking photos with him. Then, they had to spend another 15 minutes showing each other the photos. This whole time, we are still the only customers, and we were totally ignored. The web site says happy hour is 4-6PM. The waitress tells us because of the party the happy hour is only lunch. Then, she asks a manager, and they bring a happy hour menu. We order from the regular and the happy hour menu. The one good note is that the cod fritters and the ham croquettes were excellent. The paella was soupy (I understand some folks enjoy it that way. I like mine with crispy rice) The waitress was very nice. She said she was sorry about all the confusion. We finally flagged her down and asked for the bill. She did, in fact, give us happy hour pricing. But, sorry, that does not make up for the evening. We left thinking that we would come back another day and give it a try. But, the next morning we woke up saying it was a horrible experience, and it is just not worth it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34230-d33076380-r1056307800-Taberna_Ole-Fort_Myers_Florida.html#

Now, Taberna Ole is more serve for dinner only. Gone are lunch hours! When we go to Spanish Restaurant, we normally ordered Sangria and Paella. Tonight, we repeated our ritual again. Start off with a glass of Red Sangria. Garnished with slices of apple, orange and a good pour of Sangria, this drink gave you an instant relief of humid Florian weather! There are good wine beer selection as well. There are selections of tapas or small plates but we opted for a seafood Paella and shared an appetizer, Croquetas de Jamon Iberico. Our original was Croquetas de Pollo but our wait staff, Leo suggested ham croquetas is better than the chicken croquetas. The ham croquetas coated with Panko crumbs gave the crunchy feel and the Iberic ham with bechamel gave that savory taste. Leo scored 100%! The seafood paella come with shrimps, clams, mussels, calamari and scallops and cooked with Calasparra rice. Normally, paella is prepared with Saffron gave the traditional golden color and flavor. However, this paella is used a saffron substitute. It tasted so good that I forgot to ask the staff what they use! We rounded off the dinner with a flan with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is a perfect ending for dinner!

He had us taste two that might suit us. We selected one and we truly enjoyed the entire bottle. The food has always been exceptional. My companion ordered a chicken dish. I don't quite remember the name, but there wasn't a crumb on his plate when he was done. I ordered the short ribs and they were melt in your mouth. It was accompanied with carrots and mashed potatoes with gravy. I forgot to mention that we ordered the scallops as an appetizer. I can't even say enough about how delicious they were. Lastly, we ordered the cheesecake. I am from New York and I love cheesecake but I don't like the commercial juniors cheesecake. As I understand it, the cheesecake we had was not made of ricotta, but you wouldn't know it. It was melt in your mouth superb. Two of my friends that were with me loved it. I will never stop going to El Basque and I highly recommend you try!

This is a small venue with perhaps 25 seatings available. Reservation is highly recommended here. Chef Kristin cooking amazing Spanish Paella and tapas from Barcelona and Catalunya with wines and sangria. Cooking class and private catering are available. Visited BCN Paella for the first time for an early Thursday dinner. The ambiance is cozy with simple décor in a small strip mall. There are plenty of parking in front of restaurant. For a dinner for two, we normally ordered two tapas and share a paella with some sangria. For this visit, we just ordered one tapa, Pincho Moruno and their signature BCN Paella. The Pincho Moruno is skewed pork marinated with a spicy Moroccan spice with three sauce, rosemary garlic and aioli sauce. The presentation was well done. The skewers rested on nice bed of lettuce. It is absolutely delicious! A small dish of hand cut fried potato cubes were a great compliment. The BCN Paella with chicken, chorizo, shrimp, red peppers and peas served in the paella pan. We were debating whether to order the seafood paella (Gran Mixta) but wife preferred no calamari and mussels for tonight's dinner. The portion is huge and more than enough for two! It took a little time to prepare paella. It was the best paella we had in a long time! I wanted a beignet with chocolate for dessert but was quickly refused by wife. She said, "Next time!" The staff is very friendly and personable. Chef Kristin stop by and asked "How was the food?". This added a personal touch to our dining experience! Definitely, we'll back for more!

Walking in the restaurant smells marvelous..... not a spicy smell, but more a blend of savory. The table had white paper and was decorated for Valentine's Day !! Nice touch. First time for us.... They were not very crowded for lunch and we were seated right away. Victor approached us to take our drink order. What a friendly, nice guy. I ordered the Red Sangria, ($15.00) in a big wine glass which was very tasty. I then ordered the Pulpo Al Olivo from the "starters" menu, with a side of Tostones. (Which was Octopus, sliced avocado & a terrific Kalamata Olive cream sauce. The octopus was tender and piled on slices of avocado. They didn't skim on the avocado at all. Wasn't sure why the club crackers were added to the plate. I pushed them aside at first, but then used them as they were intended..... OMG..... the crackers added a slight buttery, savory taste to compliment the Kalamata sauce. And, it was extremely tasty and plentiful. Definitely would order this again !!! My husband ordered Tallarin Huancaina Con Savana de Lomo. My best interpretation was ~ skirt steak on pasta with a spicy cream sauce !! He LOVED it !! We asked.... they provided !! We were able to buy a 16oz jar of the delicious Huanciana sauce to take home. YES...... YES..... highly recommended and we will be back again !!!
