A very welcoming bar. It was my first and favorite stop. The drinks are great and the bartender was very nice. She had great recommendations for places that stop. There was plenty of seating, the bar and bathroom was clean. We wanted to stay but we drove in from Surprise so one drink max for us. I recommend this as a must do for a drink. My husband and I always make new friends and hear cool new Jerome stories when we're there and when they have live music the musicians are amazing! Went on a Friday at 6pm. Literally no customers. There was a woman working there updating a menu sign, I asked if I should sit down- was there a server or did I need to go to the bar? No answer- she didn't look up- just nodded her head at the bar. "What do you have on tap?" Bartender said only one, some local beer. Dead quiet. What a depressing place! And on a Friday evening. Tried coming here to dance with my girls on a Saturday night. It was entirely empty when we entered, we spent $30 on the jukebox to get music going and was harassed by the bartender for dancing, they accused us of being too drunk to drive when we had only had one drink and just wanted to dance, we weren't trying to leave. Several people came in once we were dancing and said they only came in for our vibes, but apparently dancing on the dance-floor to songs from their jukebox is not welcome. Not sure what in the prohibition Footloose vibe this place is, but don't go if you want to dance at night. read more

This is a great place to have a cocktail and worry if there's a ghost around. Perfect Manhattan! My friends had beer. But, the manhattan was delectable! We were sitting at the bar talking to the bartender. The bar used to be a brothel, as are a lot of buildings in Jerome. We laughed and spoke about ghosts. Our friend was talking about getting a T shirt. There is a display of them, rolled up behind the bar. One of the T shirts, our friend's size, fell off the shelf. The Spirit Room is a true Wild West saloon experience! As soon as the doors opened at 11, the place was packed. They only had one bartender, so we had to wait a bit, but the cold drinks were definitely worth it--especially with the Arizona heat outside. It's a family-friendly spot, too! Kids are welcome in the saloon, and they'll happily serve them up a Shirley Temple. The decor is classic saloon style, with plenty to look at, though our preteen boys were a little shy about some of the wall art. That didn't stop them from sneaking a few glances though! read more

The bartender on March 18th 1pm was a bit over the top. I understand following rules, but after my drink was long gone I dumped my ice cubes in my thermos. The bartender yelled at me 'did you just dump your drink on there?' I said my drink was long gone, it was just ice cubes. She took my cup and dumped it out. This place was pretty cool. Came up with the ex wife trying to rekindle the spark that lead our marriage and ended up being left in Jerome for hours on end after a nasty argument. I wandered my way into the spirit room and had an excellent time playing against myself in chess and listening to some excellent live music. What a great way to pass the time until my 16 year old son made his way from Phoenix to pick me up. (She took the car). What a goofy place to enjoy some spirits! Our group expected a bustling little haunt and we were surprised how empty it was for a Friday night. Sitting at a high top table, we sipped our drinks and soaked up the vibe. This is an old historic joint and we enjoyed looking at the vintage decor and mismatched ensemble of decor. This place is a dive bar! Like a lot of places it was, at some point in time, a brothel. And it is supposedly haunted. But it does seem that most of the places in Jerome were brothels, and most are haunted. Kacey was tending bar and she was great. Made my wife a pretty much perfect bloody mary. We were day drinking! Some male karen walked in with a kid. Kacey had to explain, in detail, that it is against the law for anyone under 21 to be in the bar. He wanted special consideration. She remained calm and explained that the law doesn't differentiate for children. We will be back, often! Maybe of interest to some, pasties are acceptable attire here! WOOHOO! read more

Came here on a Saturday night last month after we finished dinner down the street. It looked like the only bar open in town. There were only about 10 people inside. We stayed for a drink (they have hard seltzer) and played several songs on their satallite juke box. The bartender was nice as were the other patrons. Two days in a row, two different people1 male 1 female hate their lives and it resonates with the customers that you chase off through abhorrent behaviour...first night 1 person at the bar...bartender engaged "thoroughly" with the 1 patron, we were a party of 3...sales just potentially skyrocketed, but it was almost like "maybe they will leave". Sorry to disappoint the bartender but we ordered drinks anyway... You may have a different opinion but if you are in the business, you should be happy to serve all of your customers. Unless of course they give you reason to not serve...drunk belligerent folks...place has potential given the history but man could use a change in either mgmt or ownership! read more

We stopped for a drink and found ourselves at the Spirit Room. There could be many explainations for why it's called that and I'll leave all that up to you to decide. This place has been around since the establishment of Jerome as a city in the late 1800's. A place where ladies of the night and miners came to enjoy a fine spirit, at that time Jerome had been called the "Wickedest City in America". Although this place burned down four times in the ol' Mining Days, the architecture of the stone building is still original and the interior is classic of the boomtown era. We ordered a couple beers on tap which were refreshing, given the high temps and enjoyed the music on jukebox for a bit until it was yet again time to go and explore more. read more

I was so excited to see that they are finally back to serving alcohol at the bar, only to be a little disappointed by the mean 'spirited' bar tender behind the bar. She was not very friendly with customers and could be downright rude at times. When the business relies on tourists, you would think she could take the time to make customers feel welcome rather than a burden to her day. read more

I've been here twice in my life...on little road trips to Jerome. Charming, Old, Authentic. Received not exactly a greeting from the barkeep, Keebler. He was pretty serious. But, I stayed for two beers and just sat and enjoyed. Full Sail IPA!--all the way from Hood River, Oregon. Place was not hopping on Monday at 11:00am. Plugged the juke for a few, affordable. Restroom is just fine, just don't sit near it. I was seated sort of near the end of bar, and a outhouse type smell permeated that corner after a patron used it. I bought a souvenir shirt and I think the bartender appreciated my business even though he wasn't friendly. read more

Really fun bar. Biker friendly. Pool table. Cheap drinks. (cheap as in $3 beers) Live music on the weekends. From what I could tell, this was one of the only 2 bars on the main strip in Jerome. Everybody I met in this place was super friendly. It's really an old western saloon in a picturesque Mtn Town. Apparently the stretch of Jerome used to be the red light district, back when Jerome was a working mining town. There is a strong historical sense about the entire town. All in all a very fun time. read more

Makes you feel like the copper miners will walk in the door any minute. Reminds me of gun smoke from the TV days of my youth. While visiting and "shopping" Jerome, we stopped in the "spirit" room for a drink and a bartender quickly greeted us just to card the two younger ladies in our small group. When we finished our drinks, I went to settle the bill at the bar (no table service). I was waiting behind two other male bar patrons when from behind the bar I was approached by a loud, heavy-set, tattooed blonde female barmaid who made a scene about the uncorked, wrapped, bagged bottle of wine I was carrying from part of my shopping experience in Jerome. I had been sitting quietly drinking my Diet Coke at a badly worn window seat with my bags for about thirty minutes prior to this encounter. This same barmaid also loudly yelled from behind the bar to an older lady who walked into the bar with a sleeping child in a stroller telling the woman no one in the bar under 21 on the weekends. The same barmaid was overheard complaining about how she is mistreated and that it comes with being a bartender. Maybe treat your patrons with a little bit of kindness and it will be reciprocated. My opinion of the joint will now and forever be the "dive" bar, no spirit here. read more

The Spirit Room is a MUST when visiting Jerome. Come in here on in the afternoon to sit back, drink an ice cold beer or two or three (or cocktails or all of the above) and absorb the long, colorful history that still permeates the air. Most weekends they have live music so it's REALLY a good time. While you're enjoying your drink you get to rub elbows with bikers, colorful locals, tourists (both American and foreign) and when you're buzzed enough you might just find yourself busting out some moves on the dance floor. Weekdays are more quiet with no local music but then again you don't have to push and shove to get in the place. The Spirit Room really is an American gem that retains the Old West flavor that exists now mostly in our dreams and ideals. Word to the wise: make sure you have a designated driver and don't even think about to navigate the switchbacks after you've had a few. As one who's driven carloads of utterly wasted people down the hill on more than one occasion, make sure you think ahead and be safe. read more

This is one of the few(maybe couple) places in Jerome where you can get a drink after 6pm. The first day we went I stood at the bar for 5 minutes while the bartender did some stuff at the register, and offered someone else sitting there another drink, before finally acknowledging me. There were only 4 people at the bar, including myself, at the time, so it's not like it was because she didn't see me. It is definitely a local hangout. But we stayed since there were not many other alternatives. The second day, there was a different bartender, who was much friendlier, and handled our drinks right away. I wish they had more music playing however. The second night they didn't have any music playing. Seems like it is hit or miss service here, at least for out of towners, but it's worth a visit to experience the ambiance of the place, which could have easily been a bordello full of gambling and boozing in another lifetime. read more
