This shop is located on the upper level of the new west station, which made it a super convenient stop if you're taking the train or in our case, to eat before going to the movie theatre. There are limited seatings and they're fairly close together, but for a party of 2, it was perfectly fine. It was warm and cozy inside, with a fun ambiance - gives me cozy bar vibes. It's a great place to get some beer and poutine. The food itself was freshly made with large portions. I assure you that a medium or large would be able to fill up 2 people easily. My coworkers told me this is the place I should try poutine for the first time, so I did. It was really good. A year later after having poutine at several other places, I come here almost once a month. They have great pricing for the area and their food is quite filling. My only complaint is over the past few months the fries have been very crunchy rather than a soft crunch which ruins the poutine feel I got from them. They offer numerous options for poutine and all of them are mega tasty. I've also had their non putine items such as their burger and it was much better than I expected. Wow! Interesting burger spot. You order at the till and pick up your food when it's ready! Delicious mouth watery juicy burgers and French fries that're crispy and perfectly seasoned. At first I was hesitant to try this spot out as I was quite deterred seeing the prices, though I thought to myself it's not often I treat myself, so why not. And I'm glad I did! I order the Effin' Good burger which comes with a side of regular fries. This was prior to the new covid-19 indoor eating rules, so my buddy and I sat inside. The place was nicely decorated. The burger was good, but was it worth the almost $20 bucks? Maybe, maybe not. I ate it and it was delicious. What peaked my interest is when another customer came in and ordered a poutine, it was packed and filled beyond what the bowl could handle with toppings and gravy goodness. Came here with my colleague and a new friend (colleague's friend). My colleague said that Spud Shack has really good poutine and fries in GVA. I took his words for it and decided to come here. Wow were these fries super filling. I got the butter chicken. It was good. But not to the point wow. I loved the curd cheese. The tables turnaround quite fast. The place is super small. People keep on coming and so this place is very busy. If you want to use the washroom, you will need to let the staff know. The staff needs to buzz you into the washroom. Ok back to my poutine. It was delicious and was basically a meal in itself. Yes this poutine here is not a snack. Wow this place has won so much awards. Location is awesome. Its located beside a skytrain station. Unfortunately, I live far so its not very wow to me. Decor here is ok. The tables are awkward when I first saw it. It had holes in them. Well I was told it was for the beer glass. That made a lot of sense to me. But I don't drink so the holes in the table is just a waste of useful table space. All poutine are freshly made. On my first ever trip to Canada, there was no question about what my first meal would be. But what would serve as a proper poutine spot? Spud seemed like a pretty decent choice, so off we went. First thing I noticed was the fairly substantial poutine options available. Yeah you had the traditional poutine, which of course I had to get. But there were so many other wacky fusion concepts too! So we also got a butter chicken poutine, because that just sounded pretty damn good too. Both were excellent, for the record. The interior is...well, small, to say the least. Even at the early afternoon time I came, it was pretty packed. I can only imagine how packed it would be during peak times. Since I suppose this is built into the SkyTrain stop, it's obviously geared more towards public transportation riders. But there is a parking garage, should you choose to use it. One of my favourite go to places for poutine due to the vegan options. Ambience: 4.5/5 It's a good hip ambience, casual and small seating area. Food: 5/5 Flavours are bold and nice. I usually get the Vegan Big V but they have a new vegan addition called the Jakarta which is pretty tasty if you enjoy savory with a dash of sweet with the blueberry sauce. Yes, a place that offers vegan options for poutines - as well as fun variety poutines! Located right on the skytrain station, New Westminster, I decided to check out this place on my way to Surrey. The place is small and offers and average size menu. They don't indicate what is vegan on the menu so you need to ask but they offer a few fry options, plus a burger option. I ordered the Big "V" (veggie chilli, sour cream, cheese, and green onions). The small is HUGE. A tower of fries and sauce and tons of green onions (which I like). I think it also comes with gravy which I'm not sure is GF (I should have checked but I wasn't aware it would have it - but duh - it's a "poutine"). It was really flavourful. The fries were nice and crispy. The green onions were a wonderful touch. The chillI was also good and you could see chunks of corn and tomatoes. The "sour cream" was a think chipotle flavoured which I wasn't too into. Something was actually quite salty! But I enjoyed it all the same. What a nice touch they had was an electric board with your order on it and who was making it and when it would be ready! Really nice touch and so efficient. My new favorite poutine is the Night Market. I tried it after reading other Yelpers' reviews and I agree with them. I like the sour-spicy kimchi, candied beef and the crispy wonton skin strips. The fried wonton skin strips stayed crispy even after 20-30 minutes in the to-go box. I have tried other versions too and they are all equally good. This place is super convenient if you're already riding the sky train, but if you are just in the area and need to find a place to park - there is, of course a garage, as well as street parking, but there's a ton of police cars around, so be careful where you park. So the Spud shack is on the 3rd floor and I found the menu very interesting. Since the original poutine serves as the base of everything else, I decided to forgo getting that, and instead, got a small Night market and medium Jamba poutine - both of which were super good. My friend prefered the Jamba and I prefered the night market - both were generously sized, had a lot of meat, flavor, and was very filling. Love the different flavor profiles and textures of the Night market - with the kimchee, crispy won tons, green onions, and yummy beef though. Gravy is light and nicely seasoned, cheese curd is squishy squeaky as well - and fries take a while before they get soggy - probably due to them being double fried. unhealthy yums ;). read more

You get your fries in a cone and there is a hole in the table to put the cone into. The burger was one of the better burgers I've had, but it was a bit overcooked as you can see. The bun was fresh and the burger was built well. Overall, I did like it. The parking is somewhat of a nightmare. I would recommend what the locals do and take the train. We were on our way out of Vancouver and felt the need to scratch the Poutine itch one last time. Yelp led us here and their Poutine options were creative and plentiful. They have burgers, sandwiches and even fried fish. But the Poutine is the definite star. You can get it in small, medium, or large and they have fun creations like the Jamba (southern jambalaya with bacon, sausage, chicken, shrimp, and creole sauce. YES this is on top of french fries) and the Night Market (kimchi, ginger beef, crispy wontons, spicy mayo, green onion). My brother and I both ordered burgers and subbed the regular fries that they both came with for a small Jamba and a small Night Market. Everything we ate was delicious. The burgers were juicy and flavorful and the Poutine - full on meals by themselves. They don't skimp on portion size and everything is served hot and fresh. Cajun chicken is very good, juicy. And it tastes better as you eat through to the end, where your chicken layer gets thinner. Have to say, other than the Cajun chick sandwich, everything else is too salty for my hubby and me. Had trouble finishing my butter chicken poutine, because it was too salty. Every so often I get cravings for greasy gooey poutine goodness, and when I do, I go to Spud Shack, located at the New Westminster Skytrain Station on the upper level close to Landmark Cinemas. I love that they have vegan options for three types of poutine (the Original, the Big V, and the Buffalo Chick'n). They use daiya cheese, and even have a legit vegan substitute for the buffalo chicken that's not tofu. They also have a veggie burger which can also be made vegan by substituting daiya cheese and vegan mayo. Hallelujah! If you haven't had one of their vegan poutine yet, you HAVE to try it. My non vegan friends who have tried them have all loved it just as much as the non vegan version. Today I went for lunch and had the veggie burger and upgraded the fries to the Big V poutine which is topped with gravy, daiya cheese, and a veg chili. So good!! The only reasons I gave a 4 star instead of a 5 are: 1. Daiya can get overwhelming, a nice cashew-based cheese would feel lighter! 2. The veg burger patty is quite mushy - delicious, but mushy.. The fries were super soggy as it was all drenched in gravy, and the butter chicken sauce tasted weird. The chicken was dry as well. The chili was basically just tomato sauce and sour cream.
