Located along Tulsa Route 66, this popular diner is as eggcellent as things could be. The service was the most eggcellent. There were a lot of regulars. The food was not as eggcellent as the service. Chicken and waffles were good. Chicken breast was a little thin. I've had better chicken and waffles elsewhere. Diner was bustling with a friendly atmosphere. Tip: When ordering the Mexican breakfast sandwich, I would ask for a side of the chipotle mayo. I really needed some more spice. That Telera roll was amazing. And the highlight was getting to choose any of the salads on the menu as the side salad that comes with it. I had the hearts of palm salad with vegan cheese instead of the usual parmesan. It was delicious! I also got to try the cauliflower wings and a bite of the Korean BBQ tofu sandwich. I liked that sandwich too, but not as much. I do like the way they fried the tofu, but it seemed different than what was described on the menu. It seemed just deep fried, but not battered. My only complaint is the layout of the building and the lack of directional signage. I didn't park in the parking lot, so I didn't know to enter from the back and I ended up on a long confusing walk both outside and inside the building before I finally reached the dining room.

I had the Water Lily cocktail, their take on an Aviation. Order it just because it's beautiful (and refreshing). The photo does not depict the deep color of it. I asked what other gin based cocktails they had on their menu. They didn't but the server/bartender offered to make me a Bee's Knees for the second round. It was delicious! The atmosphere here is casual but the food is elevated. I kept thinking this is what a French bistro would be like inside. I want to come back and shop the market. One of the most unique parts of the visit was learning that the person seated at the table next to us was the previous owner. She is still a regular customer, and her photo is proudly displayed on the wall in the restaurant. That says a lot about the history, loyalty, and character of this place. I also accidentally left my credit card behind and did not realize it until about an hour and a half later. I called the restaurant, and the management immediately helped resolve the issue. They kindly arranged to mail it to my home in Los Angeles, and I have now received it safely. That level of honesty and customer care is rare. A special thank you to the management for handling everything so professionally, and to Heather for her kindness, attentiveness, and outstanding service. My wife deferred to later once she knew what she was going to eat. The coffee arrived a few minutes later and I placed my order for the Belgian Waffle, 2 eggs scrambled, Hash Browns, and 2 Sausage Links. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and a side of biscuits and gravy and regular coffee. First before I forget, I am somewhat of a portly fellow. I carry about 70 pounds more than my doctor likes, and it's all right above my belt. Remember that the hostess put us in a booth, which usually is a challenge for me, because of my extra tire that I carry. But I was pleasantly surprised that this booth was spacious. It had plenty of room for us extra large folks without trying to move the table. The coffee, was good. Remember that I drink decaf coffee, so when I say it was good, thats saying a lot. I even asked the waitress if she had forgotten and brought me regular coffee and she assured me it was decaf. When the food arrived, I was so impressed by how good it looked, I forgot to take a photo, so the attached photo shows what was left when I was full. The waffle was the main thing I was after. I love waffles, and it's hard to find a good waffle. The menu claims they are Belgian Waffles, and I cannot disagree. They tasted like the Belgian Waffles I had in Paris, so I believe they are. The has browns normally don't rate a mention, but these hash browns were soft and not crunchy, and tasted like I expected hash browns to taste, from the first bite to the last. The eggs were scrambled well, which I would have preferred loose, but that's my fault for not specifying. I also ordered link sausage which was cooked as it should be. Next time I'll order bacon. The reason I avoided the bacon is that most places either burn it or leave it partially raw. Based on how the rest of my meal was cooked, I expect the bacon will be cooked right. I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

The décor feels like stepping back in time--straight out of an episode of American Pickers. From vintage Citgo and Phillips 66 signs to the country-style touches everywhere you look, it's got a welcoming, nostalgic vibe that honors Tulsa's oilfield roots. It's a casual to upscale casual vibe, and One of the standout features is their in-house butcher steak counter, where you can actually see the cuts of meat on display. Our server was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely friendly and helpful, and he made a fantastic recommendation for a Pinot Noir that paired perfectly with dinner. The meal started with warm bread served in a steel lunchbox--such a fun and thoughtful nod to the old oilfield workers. For my entrée, I had the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection. It was seasoned beautifully, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. I finished the evening with their bread pudding, which was just as delightful as the rest of the experience. 1 star - Terrible service, will not return We came to The Spudder in Tulsa hoping for a nice night out, but our experience was completely ruined by our waitress. She had zero attentiveness, barely checked on our table, and acted like serving us was an inconvenience. We were left waiting for long stretches with empty glasses and no updates on our food. Her attitude was flat-out rude, making us feel unwelcome the entire time. For a restaurant with such a long-standing reputation, the lack of basic customer service was shocking. If management cares about their customers, they need to seriously rethink who they have representing them on the floor. We won't be back. read more

The hustle and bustle of Friday night dinner plans hadn't started yet and there was plenty of seating. We were seated and there were crumbs on our "clean" table. We were moved and the floor under that table was sticky. Our server, who never introduced themselves, came and took our drink and appetizer order. Our sodas came out flat. The server didn't charge us and replaced them with waters. Our appetizer eventually arrived, the spinach, artichoke dip. The parmesan on top was not melted, we removed it like a sheet of paper. We told our server, who said, "oh yeah, I should've told you that it is better when you take it home and microwave it to really melt the cheese then it's really good". Even if we did enjoy the spinach dip, which we did not, there aren't enough pita chips to eat the entire appetizer. Those would be an additional charge. During the appetizer conversation, I did put my empty water glass to their side of the table to make a refill more simple. They started to walk away without even realizing the nonverbal gesture I made as to not interrupt our conversation. I verbally asked for more water and they forgot about it. I did witness the "ah-ha" moment when they remembered they had forgotten. My wife's grilled salmon had no real flavor, sitting on top of a basic bed of rice. Her tabouli was lacking. I can't forget to mention that when her side salad arrived, the food runner simply asked, "is this yours?" It was slightly off-putting. I never thought about my dining experience being altered by the food runner, but "side salad with ranch" versus "is this yours" is a minor detail that can apparently affect the experience. The server didn't come by as often as I felt they should. They did their verbal checks with the appetizer and the meal, but didn't see them do any walk by checks, until I asked for the bill. My burger was nothing to write home about, but it was good. The fries were undercooked and the thousand island dressing tasted like Kraft dressing. I ate half my burger and my wife ate a small portion of her salmon. We paid 60$ for food we barely touched and we took none of it home. I would rather pay 60$ at Chili's or Texas Roadhouse. We take those leftovers home. I would like to say that I would give Bison another chance, but that won't be the case. Too many mishaps on this visit to make us want to return. My wife was very tempted to talk to the manager, but I was more ready to just pay the check, leave, and take this experience as a sign to never return.

I had the coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. The coleslaw was ok, it needed a little sweetness. The macaroni and cheese was good. It had a little smoky flavor and was wet enough with cheese to appease me. We will definitely be back as the service was fantastic and their menu is pretty extensive.

The table sauce tasted better than the "spicy", but neither tasted better than black pepper on the table. Overall Once the food showed up, the server never returned. Not a positive experience. Both of our steak entrees appeared more boiled than grilled, and in one case, the meat was overcooked outside and nearly raw inside. In another case, a hair was cooked into the steak. The staff is spread thin, so waiting for both drinks and food takes some patience. The atmosphere is still pleasant both indoors and out. Polo Grill seems to be surviving on its reputation from the past and the memories of its aging patrons.

If you like garlic, add the double garlic toum, which is basically puréed garlic to add on the steak. Mac and cheese was just ok. Whipped potato gratin was different and tasty. I wish they had crispy brussel sprouts for a side like other steakhouses. Iceberg wedge salad was good, but they only had one cheese substitute if you don't like blue cheese. I asked for ranch instead and it was good. We tried to change our reservation on a Wednesday night to push it back by 30 minutes due to work urgencies, and they showed no availability online, yet we didn't see more than two other parties there the entire time. They need to work out their online system better as this isn't an issue with other restaurants. Definitely worth a try, and I would go back.

Fun fact: if you want more meat or two meats on a sandwich you can order the two meat meal and just add a bun for $1. I thought that was cool! The people and environment make up for the food experience I had today.

Bread pudding- 10/10. We have a hard time fining a bread pudding without bananas or raisins, as we don't like them, and this one does not have them. Simple and delicious! Overall we really enjoyed it. We felt like we got an elevated steakhouse experience without spending a ton of money. The prices are fair, the wait staff is wonderful, the ambience is perfect. By the time we left, it was about 75% full. Our waiter was Jayme and he did a fantastic job. On a couple of occasions, my mother-in-law requested some different things. Jamie was very patient, listen tentatively, and got the things that she wanted. My brother-in-law has certain allergies that he needs to be aware of. Jayme sat down with him and showed him the menu and made recommendations that would accommodate his needs. When the food arrived, it was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We decided to eat out late in the day but they were able to accommodate our large group with no issues. I also noticed they seated other diners away from us as we were a little louder than the typical table. Well thought out by their staff. The food was amazing. I ordered the chicken pasta with Cajun cream sauce and devoured it! Also ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and they were among the best I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff was very attentive through the 2hrs we were there. Service was friendly, professional, and fast. We just sat and talked a little while before ordering and then after eating as well.
