The Stand was pretty good! I love that they give you pickles to snack on while you wait -- such a fun touch. The food quality was solid for the price, and the setup is basically order-at-the-counter and they bring it out, similar to Aquis. Service was okay, nothing amazing but not bad either. This is a great place for a casual date night. We were craving for a burger. This is a great place to be. The space is pretty big with like a lounge/bar like area where you can watch sports. The staff was nice and friendly. It was just a little confusing on where to get utensils. But we loved being able to get as much pickles as we want.the shakes are a great treat to our soup onion burger and havarti shroom burger. We loved the chili fries that we devoured first! My family came here last evening for an early dinner. We used to go to Aqui occasionally since it's near our house, and this kind of felt like a fancier version of Aqui, sort of lol. They surprisingly have a full bar with a list of cocktails, beer, and wine. It's similar to Aqui where you order at the counter, but the servers bring out the food and bus the table for you. The cashier saw my 4 year old and told us he could help himself to some chips and pickles. They have some cups of snacks for kids/anyone while they wait in line, which was a nice touch. I will say it felt wasteful that it was all in small plastic cups with only like 2-3 chips in each one; it'd be nice if they used paper cups instead lol. We ordered a kid's meal with chicken tenders and apples, a side of chips, the French onion burger, and the steak salad. Food kind of took a while to come out.. it was surprisingly slow even though we were there at like 4:45 pm. Food was quite good, better than I expected honestly since I thought it'd be a typical American quick serve place. Steak salad was really good and I liked how the apple slices were presented; it was like thinly sliced almost all the way but not? so it had more texture. Salad overall was pretty salty but flavorful. My husband liked the French onion burger as well. I would say the fries are only ok; they're medium thickness and pretty average, but the chips are really good! It's rare that I see restaurants offer homemade potato chips. I'm not sure why at the top it says "Fairgrounds, San Jose." This is for The Stand off located on Capitol Expressway which just recently opened. I've been to the one in Orange with some friends in SoCal and it was good but I don't remember it being this tasty. I love the variety on their menu and the quality of the food they carry. For me, try something with chili! FOOD: They have a nice wide variety of options from sandwiches to burgers to bowls. They also have wraps and hot dogs and bunches of other stuff. I've had their burgers (French Onion Soup Burger comes with a side of French Onion Soup!), sandwiches (Seared Ahi Tuna was so good), and hot dogs (of course the classic chili dog). All were really good. The standout side here are the chips which are terrific. The onion rings...not so good. SERVICE: Really good. Everyone is friendly and served nicely with good portions. Plus if you're waiting for food they give you free chips and pickles. Portions are nice and if you do take away it's packaged nicely. When you walk in, you see the menu upfront and there's a mix of burgers, bowls, salads, sides and drinks. There's a good amount of options and if you happen to dine in, there are TV's that have the games on. 2.5/5. Would not come back. We ordered 2 burgers (French Onion Dip and Stand Burger) along with Fire Fries and regular fries and 2 fountain drinks. I wanted a 7up or Sierra Mist and had told the person ordering before he gave me the cups. When I tried to fill up my cup with said drink, it tasted flavorless and no carbonation whatsoever. I went back and told the person who took my order and he said he would look into it. 20 minutes go by and our burgers didn't come out, I went back and asked. Nothing and no apologies or offer to refund my soda. At 30 mins or so our burgers finally came out and I told the person who brought us our burgers and he quickly asked the bar to fix it. He came back and said they are out of 7up / Sierra Mist and offered to make it right. The burgers were mediocre but the way they initially handled the situation without any follow up is incredibly disappointing. If you sell a product, please make sure you can deliver or refund your customer asap. It would save them if the burgers were actually good and came out fast. I have to give this place a 100%. I love just wholesome AMERICAN FOOD! This is the spot we needed when I was pregnant craving a classic Swiss and mushroom burger! The place is so new and renovated. The screens had the perfect games showing, Sunday night NFL and MLB playoffs. The customer service was fantastic. Two women at the front who you could order from and get a milkshake from were SUPER sweet. The burgers were JUST what we wanted. The guacamole was delicious, and who would have known, you need to have it with homemade chips! My son loved his kids meal of Mac and cheese and cheeseburger. The Oreo milkshake may have been the best Oreo milkshake I've ever had. The Oreo chunks were HUGE and a TON! It beat Chick-fil-As. Fire fries were smothered with what seemed like gochujang sauce, no further creative effort put into the sauce. Menu stated fries are "well done" tossed in spicy fire sauce. These fries were not well done (definitely soggy), and were not tossed in the sauce. Instead, it seemed like the fries were put into the box and sauce poured over the fries. Chili hot dog $9.35 (3/5): This was the most mid chili dog. The cheese was not melted, chili was okay but not enough on it, the dog itself was good, bread was so stiff. Would not recommend this to anyone. Fries (5/5): these were free when you download the app and make an account. These were really good fries. Crispy, fluffy, seasoned well. Sauces: You can also get an assortment of different sauce. Jalapeño was a good dip, lemon aioli was a light sauce, ranch was pretty good. These sauces felt made in house. The first visit I had their shroom burger with onion rings, and it slapped. Good job. Second time I had the salmon bowl with a side of mac n cheese. The rice in that bowl had so much flavor. Mac n cheese was great too. Last visit I had the Falafel wrap. It tasted fresh and hearty. If you put it in a pita, I think you'd have bigger hit here. My friend thinks that the hint of sweetness was weird but I like it. I got a hotdog for the first time because i wanted to see what it would taste like. This newly opened restaurant had great staff, they were welcoming and accommodating. My friend and I had their fries which were good but could've been fresher. The ABC burger was delicious and the chicken club sandwich as well. We also had their cocktails- Mojito, gimlet and Paloma. Their frozen Paloma is premade but is delicious. We went on a Tuesday so the staff I think was limited which is probably why their bathrooms were not the cleanest but only towards the end of the last shift. The Thai tea shake was really tasty too; except, if only it was less sweet I wouldve been able to down the whole thing. To start off the vibe is great and it was pretty crowded especially in comparison to how it used to be when it was Aquis. We were told the bar area tables had a waiter, but that didn't seem to be the case. We ordered our drinks and food directly from the bartender. The drinks were consisten and overall good. Prices are comparable to other restaurants. We ordered a bunch of different food items so to get a sampling. We ordered two different burgers. They come a la carte. Our friends had the jalapeño burger and they said it had great flavor and a light spice. We had the ABC Burger which is Avocado, Bacon and Cheese. It was cooked nicely and good flavor. We also ordered the chicken bites which come with fries and a side of fries. Technically we didn't ever receive either one. The bartender ordered grilled chicken bites instead of what we had wanted, which did end up being pretty good. The fries were the biggest disappointment. Although they were hot, they weren't crispy nor had any flavor. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese which was underwhelming and bland. But I did see a machine for Palomas and it caught my eye, definitely coming back to try out the Palomas. walking in and the menu looked good. They had hamburgers, salads, and other items. I went with the steak salad and the hubs got a hamburger with fries. Also got an order of house made chips, which were really good. I liked that they were cut a little bit thick and that the chips were big enough to hold salsa or guacamole. The guacamole was a little bit bland, but just added some salt and then it was OK. I really liked the salad. It had steak purple, onions, avocado, lettuce, corn, and my favorite part was the rice. The salad was also a huge portion enough to share, but it was my first meal of the day and I was very hungry so it all got eaten up. The burger was also good and the fries were fried to perfection and golden brown. Just the way I like them. They're in-house made of mustard sauce was on another level. It was so good. To our surprise, HH only applied to alcohol.. $2 off beer, wine, cocktail... no specials on apps/food (well, x2 points if you're in the point game). What we ordered. Short rib fries: 4/5 Kids chicken bites with fries: N/A (your usual kinda hard boneless chicken) Jalapeno burger: 4/5 Onion rings: 4/5 Espresso martini 5/5 2 IPA 5/5 (cold beer is always a +) While the food and service was fine, it was just honestly kinda annoying that napkins and condiments were behind the counter. It took a while to get condiments and when we did, they were half filled in these shallow plastic condiment cups. Came here on a Friday at 5pm before the dinner rush. The cashier that took our order was nice. We ordered 2 drinks: Moscow mule and an aperol spritz. The drinks were just ok. For our appetizer, we ordered the bone in wings to take advantage of the happy hour. We got the wings with the bbq sauce and I wish we got the wings with the spicy sauce - maybe next time. This was my first visit to The Stand. I had the ABC Burger. It was perfectly cooked but it was missing the avocado. When I told the manager she had another one prepared for me and it was fabulous.
