First time here and definitely not disappointed. It was busy but we found a cozy spot on the expansive patio. We were promptly greeted and drink orders taken. Annalyn was our server and we all agreed that she was attentive and gave exceptional service. We would go here again just based on the service! The food is awesome as well. I had a burger which is their $5 special on Mondays. Two patties and various toppings on a delicious bun. Pretty amazing for $5. I have been at The Station several times and have never been disappointed. My favorite dish has to be the Smoked Salmon BLT. Easily my favorite restaurant in Raleigh! The food is killer, the atmosphere is relaxing and the service is always awesome. Our most recent server, Ryan, was so personable and attentive. Even though the patio was packed Ryan made it feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. The menu is small and delicious. They know what they can do well and really focus on that. I have never had anything that I haven't loved! My favorites are the the chicken salad sandwich, the Station salad, and the "Beet-LT". Met a friend for Sunday brunch here and even though it was 50F outside, we were able to sit at the outdoor bar thanks to Hester's and fire pits. Sunday brunch platter (eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits with gravy) for 12$... good deal compared to other brunches around downtown. I also ordered a mimosa which was sparkling wine with a tint of orange juice... good value (4$)! All in all a pretty good place for hanging out if you live near downtown! read more

The service can be pretty spotty at times but the food is good and they tend to have a pretty good selection for a drink. Try the smoked salmon BLT (my favorite) or the station salad (? We have eaten at the station on numerous occasions and have come for drinks many other times. The service is always fast and friendly even on $5 burger Mondays. The burgers are consistently good and we enjoy the fries and house chips. My wife also really enjoys the BeetLT sandwich. Went today for Ladies' Lunch, first time there. Each lady had a different item off the menu and each lady raved over their food. Among the 5 of us we had portobello sandwich, sloppy joe, chicken salad wrap, taco salad, chips, mac and cheese, roasted vegetables. It was all delicious! My food was the taco salad. I expected it to come out in one of those packaged tortilla bowls and did not plan to eat the bowl - but it came in a house-made bowl that was light and crispy - I ate every crumb of the bowl. The taco salad comes with chili beans and you can add on a meat, but I requested they put their actual meat chili on instead and it was perfect. There were slices of avocado in the salad rather than guacamole but that was fine with me! The food was delicious, the quantities large, the prices reasonable, the service excellent. I went to The Station for the first time on Monday after run club. We wanted a place that had outdoor seating to finally enjoy the warm weather and cheap beer. The Station ended up being the perfect place. For it being such a nice night there weren't as many people out as we would have thought. We were able to find a table quickly and easily and near the outdoor fireplace in case it cooled off. We sat down and were quickly greeted. My friends had been there before and said it was the best service they had there yet. We were told the specials of the day and were pleasantly surprised with the $5 burger special that happens every Monday. We all of course ordered a burger. When the burgers came it was not what I expected. It was so much better than I expected. It was a two patty burger with an awesome bun and a jar full of potato wedges. The burger was cooked just right and the fries were hot and well seasoned. I was quite full after eating this meal. I plan on returning many times on a Monday for this deal. While both the food menu and drink menu aren't extensive there are enough choices to make everyone happy. The food isn't too expensive and there are a decent amount of $3 beers. The atmosphere is really cool. I love the outdoor area! On a cool day you can grab a beer and sit by the fire and on a nice day you pull up a bar stool and sit around the large outdoor bar. I really want this place to succeed as I think the outdoor bar would be great in warm weather but hire real beer/bartenders. Went in and found a seat at the bar on a average Sat afternoon, bar is very small especially for having 3 to 4 people behind it. Been sitting there a short while before a owner/worker (guy with long hair) walks by, looks me in the eye and keeps on walking to the office. Bartender (kC hat tattoo guy) never even looks my way. Other persons (woman) mantra is emptying the dishwasher and who knows what else. Appears to be wait or other staff on the other corner. . . 4 or so minutes latter long hair guy exits out of back and almost walks by me and I guess I look at him and he says "you want anything". Now, I could say "no, I am here massaging my arse in your barstool" but I didn't . I ask for a beer menu and he gave one to me. . Looked at it, I now know what I want and I shut the menu. Now these 2 guys are 4 feet away from me talking back and forth . Been there 8 to 10 minutes and the tattoo guy does not know I am there with a bar of maybe 12 chairs and I am close enough to reach over and tap him on the shoulder. The two guys continue to talk and I decide I am not going to beg anyone for a beer, especially when I am paying for it. Not sure if I am not big enough hipster for this place. Got up, walked out quietly and Went to Crankarm and got served in the first 2 minutes of siting down at a much bigger bar with only 2 staff. May try again but need to step up when the outside bar opens up. read more

It looks like I had a similar experience to others on here. The food was amazing, I had the burger, others at my table had the fish and chips, and chipotle chicken tenders and everyone thought the food was fantastic. The service on the other hand was terrible. We went to lunch on a nice day and it was packed. We had ordered and been waiting for an hour so when we told our waitress we had been waiting for an hour for our food she said in a snippy way "we are kind of busy if you can tell." She then proceeded to say this: "that's not my problem, I just work here." The manager came over and apologized, went and got our food (amazing that it was ready that very instant!). We then asked for tartar sauce for the fish and chips and it didn't arrive until we were almost done with our food. I get it that it is a new restaurant and they were extremely busy, but that doesn't mean you need to be rude about it. read more

The Station has only been open for a few weeks, but it has quickly become a popular spot to meet up with friends over drinks. They have a full liquor bar, good beer selection, and a solid food menu. Additionally, they have a large seating area and bar outside, making this the perfect place to enjoy nice weather with friends. I happened to go during December's First Friday event, when the weather was beautiful with temperatures in the 70's, and I think the rest of Raleigh must have had the same idea. The entire place was packed, and it took a couple of hours to find seating for our whole group. It took about an hour to get menus, and another hour to place orders, and then another two hours to get my order. Normally, I would knock a place pretty hard for having such slow and unreliable service, but considering how recently they opened and how busy they were that night, I think it was just a fluke and they were doing their best. I only had a few bites from my entree before the waitress came and took it away while I had my back turned to talk to a friend, which was pretty frustrating after waiting two hours for it to arrive. They should definitely ask you if it's okay to take something that isn't finished away, but again I think they're still getting used to everything. They only offered us the limited menu at first, so I had to choose from only a few options and went with the Roasted Beet-LT. The side of potato wedges that came with it were excellent, and the sandwich was pretty flavorful (although very cold). They provided a full menu to the table next to us later on, and I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Tenders as a snack to share. The tenders were great, and they were served on a basket of curly fries, which were also good. I probably wouldn't recommend the beet sandwich during the colder months unless you're a vegetarian, but the quality of the food and ingredients is definitely higher than average for a bar. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying some more items off the menu. It's a great addition to this part of town (near the Krispy Kreme) and should bring some more activity to Person street. read more

Don't waste your time. Their service is not just awful but offensive. We walked up to the bar and asked if they were playing the baseball game, a game in the playoffs. The bartender scuffed at us and said, "Hell no! We are Giants fans here." Then a guy at the bar laughed at us and gave us a dirty look. After that he ignored us and offered us nothing. Without responding we just got up and left. We were confused as to why he was so rude. If he would have said, "Sorry, someone is already watching this game." It would be no problem. But there are two TVs and no one on one side of the bar that faces one. So I think that this guy just wanted to be a jerk. We got up and left. I've had other under-par experiences here, but now I won't be going back. read more

I have moved away, but still visit Raleigh a few times a year. I NEVER miss a night with my friends, or maybe a lunch, at The Station when I am there. While everything I have tried is delicious, the hamburger and fries are the best I have ever had. It's a casual, friendly place with a really nice owner and staff. They have fans in the summer and heaters and fireplaces in the winter on the patio. A fun place to meet with people, although I have eaten there all by myself, too. I've been here twice now and have had a great experience on both occasions. ambiance, service, and food all get an A. The best way to describe the decor and layout is 'cool'! It has a real nice outdoor bar and patio, which I unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of enjoying yet.. but oo I will! The interior sports some super cozy large wrap around booths that fit 6 easy. A wide assortment of jarred pickled items line the inner most walls. I've had nothing but great service here! Perfect amount of attention and positive attitude : ) The food. is. yummy. I ordered the goat cheese and beet salad as my entree the first time I dined here, while the rest of my table had their burgers. I was slightly jealous by how absolutely delightful those burgers looked, but I was not disappointed by the integrity of my hardy salad. This time around I ordered a special - Hawaiian beef pineapple casserole. The dish was well prepared and flavorful. I was able to snag a potato wedge (i have a soft spot for those and mm mm good) as well as a bite of the now nationally famous Banh Mi sandwich. I chose my bite meticulously- all inner goodies with no bread- and it was definitely full of flavor. My friend who ordered it said it was great but wouldn't consider it nationally award winning. I must admit the bread did look overly large/tall, which likely detracted from the overall taste and eating experience. But, not real complaints here. I have been here three times and gotten the station burger each time. The first time it was overcooked, but the other 2 times it has been delicious perfection. And the fries are amazing, love their crispness and seasoning. I love their $5.00 Monday burger special and enjoy the outside seating. I took off points because each time I've been the service has been absolutely terrible. Inattentive servers and it takes the food a long time to get to you. Staff is really friendly and knowledgable. They have $5 basic burgers all day every Monday. I had the station salad, which was good. They used frozen thawed blueberries instead of fresh on the salad, other than that, the greens were good. My friend got a black bean burger with wedges which looks good and tastes. Seems like your typical place to go for sports bar food, except less greasy. They have a great variety on their menu, so you can always find something to fit your need. read more

Started out seeming like a pretty good place but the last two times we've been over the past 3-4 months, we sat at a table for over 10 minutes waiting for a server to even acknowledge our existence then were met with attitude, slow service and mediocre food. Ultimately I think they've gotten a little too big headed for their own good. They act like they're doing you a favor to serve you. We won't return anytime soon, if ever. It's really disappointing because I love most everything in that area and I love that it's getting built up again. So...after some debate with my ladyfriend regarding a new place for brunch, we came across The Station. We walked in and we were immediately greeted by a server informing us to sit wherever we like, which we did (smiley face). We found a cozy booth and were immediately presented with complementary waters and place settings. The menu? Exciting and well written...I truly got a sense of how tasty each dish would be and found myself existentially torn, tortured actually, over the notion that I could miss out on any of these soul-satisfying dishes by choosing the wrong one...naturally, I went for the lot and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We dined casually and at our leisure for the better part of the day, the friendly staff at our beck and call....showering us with delicious bloody mary's and mimosas until our content was certain. Just kidding...we sat there for over 20 minutes and were never even greeted by a server. We did approach the bar for a menu to try and politely nudge them in our direction, but that seemed to irritate the staff as they were consumed with slicing drink garnishes.
