I am a single mom, and decided to take my girls for an extra fancy dinner. I was really disappointed that such a fancy place did not have a separate entrance. It really ruined the experience to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke to such a fancy dining experience. I liked the old- school fancies of the palette cleanser, and the silver dish covers. But the expensive price matched the proposed atmosphere of the restaurant but not the food. We were greeted with a free crab dip at the table that was riddled with shell. Our steaks were cooked well, but not a stand out for the price. Don't waste your money here. My aunt, uncle and a family friend took me to this place to celebrate my 40th birthday. It seemed like a nice place at first, but looks can be deceiving. The food was mediocre at best, I can cook a better steak at home. That's not really the upsetting part. We had all just (almost) finished our meal when an incredibly rude older lady came to our table and told us we needed to pay and leave. We informed her that we weren't quite finished yet and that's when she told us that she wasn't asking us to leave. We were being kicked out. Now, my aunt, uncle and family friend are all in there 60's and professionals; and I'm a 40 year old professional as well. We were not being loud, crass, drunk or bothersome to anyone else. Although, the table next to us was all the above. We asked for an explanation for why we were being kicked out but she informed us that she doesn't need a reason and to pay and leave. It was absolutely disgusting because she obviously had the wrong table! She wouldn't listen to reason or give us a reason. It was so bad that after we paid and walked out the door into the casino we had a security escort out of the casino!!! This happened about a year ago and I really hope that they did change the management, but who cares now. Do not support such an ugly place. read more

First time at the Steakhouse. Reasonably priced for a steakhouse. Excellent service by seasoned, professional wait staff. Our waiter was a gentleman through and through, enhancing our experience. The prime rib is to die for! The cut was very large and could have fed 2 people easily. Definitely worth the cost. Also had the tableside Caesar salad as an appetizer - delicious! The steak house boosts an array of different wines which were selected for the restaurant, in large part, by the maitre d', Chet. His knowledge was very vast. Selected some very odd wines from weird regions (Morocco and Uruguay) in addition to a nice Spanish vintage. Not one wine disappointed. Tell Chet what you like out of a wine and I am sure you won't be disappointed. After waiting 3 years to try the place, I was very impressed. The staff and the food get 5 stars from me! Walking in feels like you are transported to a major city restaurant, not Ferndale. The staff is professional, the setting is beautiful and the food is spectacular. This was my second visit and I'm happy to say that nothing has slipped from the first time. The service was impeccable, the food was extroardinary and the whole experience was great. It's not cheap but it delivers. You'll have to run the gauntlet of smokers in the casino to get here, but you'll be glad you did. Easily best steakhouse in Whatcom County. read more

A family member used to work at the Reef and purchased my parents a gift card for dinner at the steakhouse. The card didn't have any date stamps or expiration info on it, and it said that it was good for dinner for two people. My parents went to use it for their wedding anniversary last night and were told that the steakhouse had undergone management changes and they were no longer accepting gift certificates like that. For my parents to get dressed up and go all the way out to the casino for their anniversary, and then be told that because management had changed, their legitimate certificate was no good anymore, is very disappointing. My family has been going there for years but I personally am no longer interested. To not honor a legitimate certificate is very low, and a really bad way to keep your longtime customers. After being turned away my parents went to the Hearthfire and had a nice dinner, but what this whole experience really put a damper on their evening. read more

I was at the steakhouse tonight and it is always consistently superb! It compares top El Goucho in Seattle in every way but a bit cheaper. If you want fine dining with wonderful service and atmosphere, splurge and do go there!! I've had everything from table side Caesar salad to their steakhouse salad, lobster bisque, i can tell you they are first quality! They prepare everything with such care and the extra touches are so fabulous, i.e. Free small appetizer with their special crab spread, fresh carrot sticks and crackers, and champagne sorbet to cleanse pallet- both so wonderful and nice touches for an elegant dinner. I've had the huge lobster tail with filet ( my choice tonight) excellent! Everything is cooked to perfection! Other visits with friends has never disappointed. All of the food was superb as well. It is worth every penny , if you, like me want THE best steaks, seafood, ambience and service in the Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden! Bar None this is the place. My thanks to the receptionist Talesha for her great assistance and kindness on the phone and in person; and I cannot say enough about my excellent waiter, Jon - whom I've had the pleasure of serving me in the past. You won't be disappointed with any of the servers, but Jon is very very good at what he does and I plan to request him in my future reservations. I was disappointed in the service, I should have reviewed right after our dinner August 1st, 2017. In celebration of our 30 year wedding anniversary we had a 5pm dinner reservation I ordered salmon and was told they didn't have any (restaurant just opened) and then our waiter asked if he could not mix our salad at table because there were only 2 of us, fortunately hostess notice our empty drink glasses 2 different time during our meal. Hopefully waiter doesn't work there anymore because his focus was definitely on other tables that he thought would tip better! Will give it many years before we try again if ever. read more

This is what fine dining is supposed to look like. The service is top notch, and the food excellent. Love the tableside prepared Cesar Salad. My wife and I have eaten here about 6 times now, and every time the experience was 5 stars. I have eaten at some of the highest rated steakhouses in the US ( The Palm, Ruths Chris, Metropolitan Grill) and the food here is as good as any of these. We will continue to eat here every couple months, as there is no point in driving all the way to Seattle for a great meal...now that we have found this place. read more

I visited the Steakhouse on a Thursday. The menu is not extensive nor is it one that would feature ever changing specials. I ordered the New York steak while my dining companion ordered the ribeye steak. The New York was good but the ribeye was not nearly as good. The side dishes of asparagus and fries were good with sauces on the side. The dessert was excellent the service was well above average. The only knock I have on this place is that it was so small in terms of space. What they are trying to do is cool, but there is not enough physical room to do it properly. read more

Depressingly average. Steak in the special was ok but the two included prawns were bland, flavorless and rubbery. The tomato risotto was a dish without distinction and the meager asparagus spears were badly overcooked. Digging deeply with fork and magnifying glass did allow one to locate the exceedingly tiny specs of lobster in the Mac and cheese. But fl favor was lacking. Top notch service. Have had one order come to the table undercooked after having gone there several times. I guess it's bound to happen sooner or later when dealing with steak. Girlfriend ordered prime rib medium and it came really rare. The filet mignon is as fat as a baseball and scrumptious, prime rib is delicious and the lobster bisque is outta this friggin world. Have eaten here a couple of times. High end steak house. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. They cooked my Ribeye steak perfectly - I ordered it Chicago style medium rare. They give you a nice spread for crackers to start instead of just bread and a little sorbet between the appy and the steak. The only negative was I had ordered a beer to start and wine to come with my steak but they forgot to bring me my wine and it took a while even after I reminded them. That was annoying. I had my 40th birthday dinner here and it was wonderful. The food was wonderful. I had the lobster bisque and filet mignon, both of which were exquisite. They also made a delicious chocolate cake for us. We had a party of about 15, and took our time through each course; we never felt the service was rushed or too slow. The whole experience--food, wine, atmosphere, and service--were everything I could have asked for. Unfortunately I never had the chance to rate this establishment based on their food. A group of associates and I made reservations not once but twice to have a company dinner at this restaurant. The first time we were unable to dine at the Steak House because of adverse weather conditions which temporarily knocked out power to the casino, so they had no choice but to close due to health code. We decided to rescheduled, we called later that week to reschedule our dinner, we left the reservation and even called again closer to the reservation date to reconfirm. The night of the dinner we were turned away at the front door because they had, "no record" of our reservation and could not accommodate us. It's not the fact that someone made an honest mistake and the reservation was overlooked, we're all only human after all, but managments lack of acknowledgement for the mistake, therein lay the problem. Never attempted to amend the issue or even give an apology, just an apparent lack of caring. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and will never return personally. read more

Went here for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We were all very excited to try it! We started with their Caesar salad and it was one of the best Caesars I've had. My husband and I ordered the 14oz rib eye steak. Mine was cooked to my liking of medium PERFECTLY but it was a bit fatty for my liking, next time I will try a different steak. I got it oscarized with asparagus and lobster, yum! We got the garlic mashed potatoes as our side and those were great as well. We finished with 3 of their desserts that our table shared. Creme Brulee, a raspberry dessert and a tall layered one with vanilla and coffee icecream layered between 2 layers of oreo crumbs(that was my fav!) We also appreciated that the staff didn't make us feel rushed. It was almost as if they had booked us for the entire night. Reservations were for 6:30 and we were out of there around 830/845. Our waiter was very friendly and once he learned one from our group was pregnant he made sure to make the palate cleanser dish a non alcoholic one, very thoughtful. Thank you for making my parents 40th anniversary a memorable one, we will be back. read more
