Arrived in time for Happy Hour, and was able to enjoy a glass of wine for a great price! We ordered the Butternut Bruschetta for an appetizer, and it was an excellent choice! The butternut and goat cheese was a delicious combination! For dinner I ordered the grilled salmon salad. I was a little disappointed on the amount of oranges, avocado and pistachio's, but the salmon was grilled perfectly, and with the vinaigrette, it almost made me forget about the other ingredients! While working in Omaha our client took us to this gem. Great atmosphere very relax bar type atmosphere. Food was on point! I had the peppered filet, served with mashed potatoes, asparagus, with a mushroom wine sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection, great bold flavor. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were right on the money! I would rate this place as a great value. This meal was $32 and was far better than any chain restaurant steak house. Last night we dined with friends from out of town. Neither of us had been before. We made reservations as last time we tried to get in there was a 30 min wait. The Asiago chicken was so good. Stopped in for a lunch late this morning and was promptly greeted. Restaurant was very stylish and while we were the only table at the time, was pleased with the nice atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She mentioned giving the honey goods balls a try and they didn't disappoint. Grabbed a few beers and I ordered the Horseradish Steak Sandwich. It wasn't something id likely order again. Even cooked medium rare, was a bit too tough to chew. Truffle fries were good though. Our first time here since 7M. We sat outside on a beautiful evening which was great. Happy hour menu was really reasonably priced for sure. The calamari appetizer was probably the best we've ever had. Hubby had the mussels. Problem. 11 of the approximate 25 were closed. I've always followed the advice of an East coast friend to never ever eat the closed ones. There are some sites online which state otherwise, but here in Omaha, we aren't near any oceans, so better be safe than sorry. Besides that, how do they expect us to open them? A bit difficult for sure. The near plate in the picture is the closed mussels-the far plate is the eaten ones. Overall, service was good. Food was good, except the skimpy order of mussels. 3/5 The good: The atmosphere, both inside and outside, is great. The cocktails were fun and well thought-out. The shared plates we had were both very good (the rum jerk chicken wings and the honey dipped goat balls). I was also told that the waygu burger, garlic shrimp risotto, and the beef short ribs were good. The bad: The duck and watermelon salad was $14 but the size is what you'd expect from a side salad. Based on the prices of the other items I expected an entree-sized salad. I know that I should have asked when ordering, however, so maybe that's on me. The salad itself was mostly inedible. When I read that it had fresh herbs I would have never assumed that it was made almost entirely out of basil and cilantro. Imagine taking a bite of just cilatro leaves. That's what this salad was. I had also ordered a side of brussel sprouts. The menu did not mention that it is served with bacon, and since I don't eat pork it had to be sent back. They did bring out a fresh bowl of brussel sprouts without pork soon after, and I do appreciate that, but the description on the menu really should list it. The desert menu looked very enticing but it we had already been there two hours so we skipped it. The ugly: The server made a joke about seeing an ID photo of a woman without makeup and who had fuzzy cornrows. The joke was that this woman looked like she should be on Orange is the New Black. Typically they do a nice job with the food and prep. Brunch is great and the service is typically above average but not the best. Dine in is a 4 star. Beware of takeout. 1-2 star here. Last couple times have taken forever (1.5 hours+ to get food) and they blame it on their computers and do not offer any sort of discount or refund. Plus, the food is skimped on and often times wrong. The Stokin' Goat is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. My favorite shared plate is the the Gyoza and calamari. One thing to note is that their appetizers aren't a large portion, which is something I appreciate but if your party is larger than four, I would recommend ordering two. All of their food is good, honestly. Their main course options are a little overwhelming because every option looks awesome. Their lamb is great, the duck is awesome and I loved the roasted sea bass. If you're looking for lighter fare, their beet salad and soup is excellent too. For a casual restaurant, their food is on par with the nice restaurants in town you'd get all dolled up for. They have a great cocktail menu, and the service has always been great. It's my "go to" answer for "Where do you want to eat?" Note: they have a discount program too! read more

We really do enjoy this place, but it can be hit and miss with how long the wait is once you even sit down and we have had a few items undercooked, BUT they have had no issue fixing it. Honestly an average meal but good service. Other reviewers have talked about poor service but I think this fledgling restaurant just needed some time to work out the kinks. No major issues for us. The food actually reminds me of what used to be in that spot 7M Grill. Relaxed favorites that are jazzed up in some way. Some options for everyone, fresh salads, sandwiches, and some classics. I ordered the shrimp risotto and it was disappointing. The dish came out warm not hot. So by the end of the meal it was cold. There were Parmesan shavings on top that never melted because again, the dish wasn't hot enough. The shrimp were nicely cooked but underseasoned. The whole dish needed something. I added some salt and pepper to it and that seemed to help a little bit, but something about it was just off. I also got a side salad, which was fine but for seven dollars I really was expecting something a bit more special. It had spring mix, shaved carrots, cucumbers, and heirloom tomatoes. Sure the ingredients were fresh and I understand as a restaurant you need to make a profit, but I just didn't see the value. Before the restaurant opened, the sign actually said "the smoking goat," so when I would drive-by I thought it was going to be a cigar shop. I guess there was some debacle over the name and I heard something about copyright infringement and later saw they had changed it to "the stokin goat". I would love the backstory there, but I still don't see exactly how the name, whether smoking or stokin, relates to the restaurant concept (besides the fact that there was a goat cheese salad on the menu). read more

I've had an on and off relationship with this restaurant for the last year or two. Food and service both fluctuate from good to bad. Some of the food is just great, but more often than not it's sub par, and at 20-30 dollars a plate it's unacceptable. The straw that broke the camels back was an Asiago crusted chicken breast that was unseasoned and completely dry served on top of mashed potatoes that surprisingly tasted of instant mash. My partner and I have decided to not give them any further business, and we will most likely not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

The young girl working as hostess on Mother's Day was unbelievably rude and obnoxious to my elderly parents after they messed up our reservation. She talked to them like she thought she was arguing with her friends, rather than an employee talking to customers (especially customers 3x her age). We were all shocked by her behavior. First experience at the Goat was good! We had a large party (12) and service was great. Our server was very efficient and quick for a recommendation. We ordered several apps so I got to try a variety of things. The French onion dip and the Octopus stood out the most. I ordered the Tiger Shrimp Pappardelle and it was ok. The menu stated there was black truffle but I definitely did not taste any. The shrimp and pasta were cooked well though and overall it was good. I was able to snag some truffle fries and they were delicious. Especially with aioli! I had the Dirty Goat (dirty martini) and it was delicious and decently priced. Great hip new place. Awesome decor. The patio is amazing. I would recommend this to everyone. Chef Andrew has a great menu and the dishes do not disappoint. The dressing on the Greek salad I had was so good. I enjoyed the Grilled salmon with a cucumber salad. Our desert was some sort of puff pastry, light and delicious. The portions are not huge, but that's ok. You don't need to feel like you ate at buffet everytime you go out. They have a great happy hour too! This place is going to do very well here. read more

We had been to this establishment several times before Covid and loved it and raved about it. Since everything has opened up we have stopped in to enjoy a meal at The Stokin' Goat. Unfortunately tonight will be the last time we go. This was the third time since Covid and each time it's just gotten worse every time. And unfortunately our waitress Amanda, who we have had the last three times, is incredibly rude and short with us. She also took her sweet time to even great us at our table. Tough call here, debated 3 stars, 4 stars or 5? Had to go with 3. This was my first time here. It was convenient to make a reservation on their website which was plus. We had a party of 4 for brunch on Sunday. The brunch menu was not spectacular but it had the necessities to call it brunch; bottomless mimosas and eggs = brunch. I had the brekkie burger, I guess if you put an egg on it it's brunch. Overall the burger was fine, extra greasy and an insane amount of salt. The fries were very good but again the salt over powering. I spent the rest of the day sucking down water from the salt. Overall though the bacon and meat just didn't feel very high quality. Supposedly Wagyu burger, but honestly I tend to find Wagyu questionable at a lot of places. The service was also very very slow, and the place was not at all busy for 1130 on a Sunday. Many empty tables. My wife has to eat gluten free so she got the burger, no bun and side salad. Both of us just didn't feel great after eating there and coupled with the slow less than enthusiastic service most likely won't be back. There are a lot of options in Omaha so unless the place is great we have to move on. read more

Ahhh Stokin Goat...the shrimp scampi was scrimpy. One of the smallest portions I've had in a while. Taste was good but not amazing. I was also reminded that it was missing the havarti cheese. For shame. Next up the goat in the garden. Again scrimpy. These must have been miniature goats because there were tiny pieces of goat cheese and very few of them. Service was good and atmosphere was satisfactory. Time to step it up Goat! In the meantime we returned... The happy hour bottle of wine with charcuterie board deal is an amazing bargain. Although I'm not drinking, you get a bottle of wine equal or leads than retail and a charcuterie tray for 5$. Only $5!! That's unheard of! I have had $15 charcuterie trays that were way worse. Bravo Stokin Goat! You redeemed yourselv. Anddddddd the next go round!! The rum Jerk Chicken wings were very good and the pachams triumph cocktail was delish! The service was exemplary. We tried to eat here once before and it was crazy busy with about a two hour wait time. We went at 8pm on a Thursday and had no problem finding a spot. We ordered the jerk chicken wings as an appetizer and were so hungry I forgot to grab a pic. They were okay but not worth the price (almost $2 a wing?), very covered in a sauce like texture but weren't sticky. I got the fork and knife salmon which comes with truffle fries. The fries themselves were cooked well but man that truffle flavor was overwhelming. The salmon was okay, our server mentioned they cook their salmon to medium which overall it was good but tbh I think takes away from the salmon flavor. My husband got the steak sandwich, ordered medium and it definitely came out more like seared. The bread was soo soaked in blood/juices. He said it was okay, I preferred not to try it.
