One of my favorite restaurants. I would have given 5 stars as normally the food is excellent. This time it wasn't as good as previous visits however, my husband and I don't normally order Baby Back Ribs. The Crab and Spinach dip was excellent and definitely the highlight of our meal. The ribs looked amazing but unfortunately they were difficult to eat. You had to knaw the meat off the bone. We came in for dinner after a lacrosse tournament and so did everyone else. The restaurant was packed and we didn't have a reservation. However, the hostess was able to squeeze our family in after about a 10 minute wait. Our server took our order and the food came out quicker than I expected. I attended a Christmas party at Gilligan's. We were at party of 15. It was great. They only negative was being seated at the end of the table and not being able to hear everyone. Brandon and Angela were our servers, they were very attentive. I got the chili and started eating it before taking the pic (like I always do). It was delicious. Went for the first tonight and overall, solid effort on most fronts. Ordered salmon which was dressed with a citrus butter and came with two sides. Highlights - Attentive waitress - Fish was cooked well, crispy outside, but still flaky inside - Caesar salad was flavorful - The bread they serve with meals is pretty solid - Service was quick Cons - Ordered an Old fashioned, and it was pretty dull, mostly just tasted of bourbon, didn't seem much in the way of bitters and sugar was added - Plating was also dull and uninspired - High prices that don't seem justified by the flavor or presentation (3 meals, one cocktail and one ice tea ran us over $100 w/tip) Overall if you live here, it's worth a stop at some point. I left full and satisfied, so I would say this was overall positive. I think they just need a bit more polish (and some better cocktail direction) and this place would be 5/5. read more

One star for claiming their roast beef is "Kobe Beef" even though the food is good. . . . . .We rolled into town on the late side and while we were checking in at our hotel we asked the desk clerk if he could recommend someplace for a beer and some food. He suggested Gilligan's, it was close, so we tried it. The beer selection which included many local and regional craft brews was varied and interesting. Our choices proved to be very tasty and they nicely complemented the food. I ordered the "Kobe Roast Beef Sandwich" -- billed on their menu as the "filet mignon of roast beef." The sandwich was very good. The thin sliced roast beef was piled at least an inch and a half thick on my choice of bread (marble rye if I remember correctly). There was just the right amount of lettuce, tomato and mayo on the sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. But -- was it really, "Kobe Beef?" I mean -- was it really, raised in Japan, pampered cow, genuine, "Kobe Beef?" At. $9.50 a sandwich I kind of doubt it. Actually, I more than, "kind of doubt it, I"M SURE OF IT!!" True "Kobe Beef" is licensed to be served at just eight restaurants in the entire United Sates. (1. 212 Steakhouse Restaurant, New York, NY; 2. Alexander's Steakhouse-Cupertino, Cupertino, CA; 3. Alexander's Steakhouse-San Francisco Restaurant, San Francisco, CA; 4. SLS Las Vegas - Bazaar Meat by José Andrés Restaurant, Las Vegas, NV; 5. Jean Georges Steakhouse, Aria Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, NV; 6. Nick & Sam's Restaurant, Dallas, TX; 7. Wynn Las Vegas - SW Steakhouse Restaurant, Las Vegas, NV; 8. Then there is "Wagyu Beef," which may or may not hail from Japan, but must be from one of four Japanese breeds of cattle and must have a marbling rating of 6-9 (USDA prime marbling is rated 4 and true "Kobe" is rated at 10-12.) The last time I had "Waguu" beef was at a Michelin starred restaurant and the meal cost several hundred dollars per person. After just one bite of the "Wagyu Beef" at that restaurant I knew I was eating something special. As good as Gilligan's sandwich was there was NOTHING about it that screamed, "This is the BEST roast beef available in the world!" In Europe it is illegal to sell food branded as something that it isn't. You can't call cheese "Parmesan" unless it is actually cheese from Parma, Italy. You can't call bubbly white wine "Champagne" unless it is actually produced in the Champagne region of France. But in the U.S. food labeling laws are so lax that you can name food products just about anything your heart desires -- especially if it will result in better sales. I would welcome comments from the management about these questions. Who decreed the beef on your sandwich to be "Kobe Beef?" 1. The supplier? If so, can they certify that it actually is "Kobe Beef," or not? If they can, that's great. (In my opinion, restaurants like Gilligan's should be able to serve a perfectly fine roast beef sandwich without paying premium prices for their meat or calling it something that it isn't. And BTW -- If it actually is "Kobe Beef" from Japan then i'd suggest at least quintupling the price of the sandwich!) If not, "Shame on the supplier and a double curse on the supplier for setting the restaurant up to include a fraudulent item on their menu. 2. Gilligan's itself (or Gilligan's corporate management)? Again, if you can certify it to be "Kobe Beef", then good for you -- and see the previous paragraph about raising your prices or using domestic roast beef.) If it is not real "Kobe Beef" (and you have not been duped by your supplier) then, "Shame on you!" And please revise your menu, ceasing and desisting from using the term "Kobe Beef." Sorry for my rant. The sandwich was good, the service was good, the beer was good. But I am a stickler for properly naming and labeling food and where it originates from. Kobe and Wagyu are important trademarks of origin, breed, and quality and must be protected. Any establishment that uses these names without proper certification, or worse, fraudulently, must be called out. (Note: Le Bernardin, a Michelin 3 star restaurant in NYC, was caught fraudulently serving "Kobe Beef" and forced to immediately change their menu when asked to prove their beef was in fact "Kobe Beef." Gilligan's should do the same.) Mom wanted to take me here as early birthday lunch. Because she was there before. So we went it was like a mix sports and dinning area. It was a huge dinning area plus 2 pool tables. We had cheese quesadilla for an appetizer and I got the shrimp tortilan Alfredo and fries (it was one of the sides or a salad) which yummy expect that skin or something on the shrimp should have been pelled. The waitress was nice and left a picture of soda for us. I didn't think anyone do that. It was good I would definitely going back but I had to go to the bathroom a few times hint hint don't get the tortillan. read more

We absolutely love this restaurant. We both love their Asian salad with a grilled chicken breast. I love their salmon with dill sauce and my husband is a fan of their ribs. Their wait staff is very personable and make sure their customer's needs are met. Unlike many restaurants, they did not have staff shortages as restaurants started opening after pandemic restrictions were eased. Maybe the staff are very loyal, or maybe Gilligan's Too is a really good employer. The bottom line is that the customer wins on all counts. read more

This review is specifically for their "Steamers" steamed clams appetizer. Ordered two orders. Server thought there were around 18 clams per order but wasn't sure. Turns out it was 13 clams for $12. Seemed like a lot of money for 13 little clams, but hey, I don't get out much. HOWEVER, the clams were SANDY. Some were a lot worse than others, but both of our orders were gritty, and as I write this review my wife still has granules of sand floating around in her mouth. I do enjoy the Gilligan's restaurants, let me just say that. The poor rating is for their operational efforts in seating customers. NO need to put customers tight on top of one another with no effort to social distance. We are still in the middle of a pandemic and not taking any effort to distance their customers is a very unfortunate. The atmosphere has already been summed up by many. "Swanky 70s classy" etc. 3 pool tables. All good. Menu is a very large. The first time I went there I had a cheesesteak I didn't care for. But the other night I went, Anne and a friend shared wings (that come 10 instead of a dozen) and the north 10 burger which is the burger with an egg on top. Fantastic, along with the wings. Garlic Parmesan, with a side of mild sauce. I like when a restaurants wings have a unique taste that I haven't come across before. Check! Only other HUGE downside about alcoholic drinks- if you order anything with Red Bull, be aware that they use a knockoff energy drink. I have always avoided this place. It always looked trashy to me. I don't like the parking arrangement and I never knew of anyone who actually ate here. At one point my friend told me she got a sub and it was OK. That didn't change my mind any. Still, one day with lunch on my mind I ran through the list of places I hadn't been to. Low and behold the closest was Gilligan's. As we drove up to the place I remember complaining about the parking even before we turned in. We even had to sit and wait on some traffic trying to navigate their way out of the lot. All the while I'm admiring Taco Bell across the way while scolding myself to stick with my choice. It couldn't be that bad. And it wasn't! This place was great. Its even upscale! Forget the shoddy external appearance, the inside is pretty swanky. Now let's talk food. While heading to our table we passed the daily specials board and I knew what I wanted. Perhaps it was spite in me, wanting to be right for having avoided this place for so long, but whatever it was I decided to order the Crab Cake. Now this may not seem like a big deal but rest assured crab cakes are something I often avoid while eating out. Why? Because if I wanted a $13 lump of stuffing I would go buy Stroehmann's. Once again however, Gilligan's got me. It was the best Crab Cake I've ever gotten at any restaurant. Additionally, the Lobster Bisque was just as hearty. The French Onion soup was cheesy, but in a good way, but kudos go to the appetizer. Its not too often that a restaurant comes up with their own unique plate that's actually superb. Forget thawing out any mozzarella sticks for me. I want the Gilligan's Alternative! In closing, the person who I ate with eventually came to find out his son had eaten here some time ago and hated it. It was trashy and the food was lousy. So I was right! My family has come to Gilligan's Too for birthday gatherings a few times. There is a lot of space to host a group of people. The service has always been excellent. They usually have happy hour beer specials and their food menu is extensive and reasonably priced. It can get a little loud in here because there is also an open bar area with tvs that have sports on. Overall, I enjoy Gilligan's and would recommend it for anyone looking for a yummy meal with or without the kids. If you come later in the evening, the vibe changes to a cool bar to drink a few, shoot some pool or just watch tv or listen to music. This place scores high points for versatility. Gilligan's is perfect in all settings. They offer a daily happy hour and a "beer of the day". Pool tables, lots of tvs, and a jukebox make it easy to stay all night and make fiends. The crowd here is a little older but they are fun and easy going. This is certainly a place you want to stop in and visit if you are in town. I ended up going cheap and getting the Buffalo Tenders and a side of Fries. I had no problem with how hot the food was, but the problem I had was the fact the tenders weren't spicy enough. I expect when it says Buffalo, it's going to have a much higher kick to them, but no, they tasted mild. I've been coming here for years. The staff is friendly and a lot of them have been with the restaurant for years and the food is good and consistent. I like that it has a good bar feel but at the same time the restaurant side of it is cozy and warm. They have a pretty extensive drink menu and they have a pretty good daily beer special for pints and pitchers. They also have a special's board for food upon arrival and sometimes you can get some pretty yummy things there to enjoy. The things I like here most are their appetizers and sandwiches. They make a mean gyro and Reuben. I usually don't order the entrees though I occasionally indulge in the prime rib because its tasty and I have heard from others that their pastas are good. Gilligans is one of those places that you can go to on any occasion. Its fun for a night out with friends, a dinner with family, a place to watch a game, a place to get a quick drink, a place to grab some take out, the list goes on. We ordered take out from here the other night, and ended up being pretty disappointed. My boyfriend got the BBQ wings, which he said were great. Plenty of sauce, good flavor. I got mild wings. There was a small splash of sauce in the corner of the container, but most of the wings were completely untouched by the sauce. If I had wanted plain wings, I would have asked for no sauce. We also go stuffed mushrooms, which were mediocre at best. At $12 for three mushrooms, I expect them to be some of the best I've ever tasted. Less than average bar food at higher than average prices.
