This restaurant is overpriced for the quality of the food it offers. The bread was rubbery. My order of Ahi was very under cooked. It had just a few millimeters of sear to it and was slathered with an exceedingly salty sauce. The rice side had way too much seasoning in some bites and none in others. My husband said his steak was good but it arrived with veggies instead of the garlic mashed potatoes he ordered. When he pointed it out the waitress quickly brought out a side plate of the potatoes. Unfortunately they were overly salty too. We were in HR for the weekend and this was my birthday dinner out. I wouldn't say this place is bad but I'm not sure I would return. The fried pickles were whatever. The carbonara was okay.....the Alfredo is supposedly hand made....the oil separated BAD from the sauce. Basically had a bowl of oil at the bottom of my plate. Wasn't the most flavorful Alfredo I've had.....the garlic and Brie soup was nice. Mostly broth with some carrots and maybe onion in there, topped with tiny crouton and cheese. The steak was really good, mashed potatoes came out a little cold and were whatever. Clam chowder tasted like Campbell's. Ranch had a fast food taste to it. Got asked if we wanted bread after our entrees came....uh sure...service was a little slow. Pretty sure it's family run, seems like a husband/wife with their kids running it. I might give them another try next time we're in town, but I'm definitely not hankering to return. If we do give this place another try in the future I will be ordering something different. read more

I am not usually one to complain but my dining experience here was beyond disappointing. We ordered a shrimp cocktail appetizer and was expecting jumbo shrimp. What we got instead was a bowl of baby salad shrimp that was not very good at all. The real disappointment however was the lemon chicken pasta I ordered. After bringing me the wrong dish, the chicken came with a lemon butter sauce that was way too strong/lemony, and it was served with spaghetti noodles with a red sauce on it. I have never in my life been served a pasta dish with 2 different sauces on the same plate. After the poor appetizer and entree I was afraid to order dessert. Altogether it was overpriced and less than mediocre. The service was also very poor. I will not be returning here. read more

I was disappointed in this quaint restaurant. Atmosphere was ok, and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. But the wine list was right out of Walmart... very cheap. The food was subpar. My steak was cold. The others in my party were also disappointed. There was no drink list at the bar and the drink special was weak and double the cost of what it should have been. Not what I expected at all. My wife and I were in Hood River visiting and went here after reading all the reviews here on Yelp. We started with the fried pickles as a appetizer. They were good and unfortunately they were the highlight. Next I had the roasted garlic and Brie soup. It was horrible. The soup was nothing more than tasteless, oily broth with some mushy onions and a small crouton with a little Brie on it. My wife's salad was no better. Completely over dressed with balsamic, mixed green, carrots, almonds and black olives. For entrées, she had the eggplant Parmesan. Eggplant was cooked well, marinara sauce was good. Over all it wasn't a bad dish. I had the lobster ravioli in a basil pesto cream sauce. When I got my plate, it was barely warm. The ravioli was something that was purchased, not house made, I'm guessing possibly even frozen at one point. The basil cream sauce was good. Last I would say get rid of all the parsley. Not every plate needs to look like the parsley fairy attacked it. Over all I would say the food was mediocre not worth $45.00 (we didn't have drinks, strictly water). They have a good concept and good menu, they just need better products and execution. read more

Brie and garlic soup was okay, the bread on top was completely soggy by the time it arrived. Steak was bland, but cooked to the appropriate temperature. Mashed potatoes were also bland, and runny. SO MUCH FENNEL in the marinara sauce. Service was mediocre, they had to sub a different salad due to lack of ingredients and neglected to mention it had nuts, when it arrived and I sent it back due to an allergy, the waitress argued with me that it was posted like that on the menu (even though I didn't order it, since it was a substitution!) if it wasn't centrally located, we would have eaten elsewhere for sure. read more

I took my wife here for her Birthday and we were both extremely happy with our decision. My wife had the halibut and I had the bacon wrapped filet. Ah, so wanted to have a great steak dinner on weekend get away - Sadly this wasn't to be, from forgotten drinks - to undercooked steaks, then delay in correct preparation, and this from a spot with only three other tables with guest - not busy, just a location that hasn't got it figured out yet. I've eaten here twice and the food has always been awesome. The staff is friendly and its a cozy place. Generally I like to find a place that has wi-fi so I can work my contracting gig after my day job, and this is the perfect place. I've had the steak and the seared ahi. We walked by this place and talked about it a couple of times. It's a basement after all but given the extreme heat their advertised 'temps in low 70s' was appealing. Place was near empty and staff looked a bit disinterested. Our waitress was all over us and took very good care and hung out for entertainment. Menu was quite varied and took some sorting out. My friend had a steak of some sort that was fabulous and very tender. I had an ahi tuna steak that was beyond exceptional and the winner of the three meals ordered. If we were back I suspect we would all have that tuna steak. I've had lots of good food around Hood but I really think just food quality wise this place took the cake. read more
