Wonderful food. Very helpful waitress with information on each meal for our food sensitivities.

First Yelp review ever but felt some light needed to be shed on this place. I've been going here for years and the food is almost always good if you're willing to remove their one off specials (please never do the grits and shrimp with a bucket of salsa again). The bad comes down to management and how the place is staffed. When you walk in there's a good chance you will see 3-5 people waiting for a to-go order and tables of people without orders taken yet. They always have one server who just can't handle the amount of business they get within 30 minutes of opening, add on top the 2 cooks for all these people you're going to be waiting 15 minutes at least to get your drink and another 45 for your food. Call in if your order is to go so you don't have to be annoyed seeing others order the same thing as you after you and finish their food before you even get yours. I tried to not hyperbolize in this review and really do wish them the best but I can't bring myself to return till some more people are hired. This isn't every time but it's a lot of the time. To the one server I hope you're looking for another job because there's no way they pay you enough for the amount of work you do. TLDR: don't go if you don't have at least an hour to wait just to get your food. read more

Great service! Great food! The Greek Salad with blackened chicken was one of the best Greek Salads I've had.

I had the Sesame Ginger Stif Fry with added cashews and tofu and it was so tasteful. The seasonal veggies in were fresh and the whole dish was very satisfying. The hummus with honey wheat pita was very light and yummy for a little nibble and you could get a 1/2 portion. Always nice when you just want to try new dishes. The iced green tea was very refreshing. Service was quick and friendly. I will definitely return on my next visit to Fairhope. read more

We had Sunflower years ago for brunch with a group of friends and were not impressed enough to return. Since moving to Fairhope I randomly mention it to the hubs but he was always not up for it. So the other day I read every menu item to him and told him I wanted to give it another try. He complied and we got the black bean dip, turkey melt with hummus and hummus of the day and the jerk wrap with chips and salsa and cucumber salad. I asked for extra pesto aioli because sometimes restaurants don't put enough and I like my condiments. The turkey melt was really good. I put the balsamic dressing (thick) on the romaine and tomatoes and ate it like a baby salad. I didn't eat the top piece of bread it just made the sandwich too big for me but the bread was really fresh. The rest of the sandwich was super tasty and I liked my extra aioli. Both hummus options were great and the pita was pillowy soft. The black bean dip was great after a few turns of pink salt. It comes with blue tortilla chips and when we combined it with the salsa... soooooo good!! My husband really liked his wrap ( just needed a touch of salt) and I also thought it had a lot of good flavor! I also had an unsweetened blueberry tea which was really good. All in all, I'm glad we finally got to try it again and I have my hubs convinced AND excited to try it again soon!! read more

Hands Down this is my #1 place to eat in ALL of Alabama. Man someone needs to call food network Guy Fieri and get him over to Fairhope, AL right now. Chef Troy is the epitome of there can be only 1. That is exaclty why he needs his own show as well. My husband and I have been eating at Sunflower for years and the food is consistent and delicious. It's a hipster cool yet can be romantic cute kind of spot. Chef Troy is the very definition of a great chef. Chef Troy if you are reading this we would give you a Michelin Star! I like that the restaurant is focused on quality ingredients and fresh foods. The menu selection is decent and has nice variety. Unfortunately I was a bit underwhelmed with what I ate. The turkey avocado melt sandwich came on the driest bread ever and the turkey was dried out too (reminded me of bad cold cuts). For dessert I had the blueberry ginger pound cake which was okay but pretty bland and had no trace of ginger. I would come back and try something different and hope it's better next time. read more

Sunflower Cafe is one of my very favorite places to eat in Fairhope! Everything is absolutely delicious and very fresh, and there are a lot of healthy options. Definitely order their iced tea of the day and hummus of the day! All of the wraps are delicious, but I love the Thai chicken/tofu wrap the best. Both chicken and tofu are great. I also just discovered their Sunday brunch, which is amazing. And the best part is that this place is never super crowded like many of the restaurants in downtown Fairhope. read more

This is one of my favorite places! They have a lot of GF options including great desserts. I also love that the ingredients are organic.

This is the kind of place that has a daily hummus -- which is music to a traveling vegetarian's ears. The prices are a little higher than I'd normally spend for lunch ($10-13 sandwiches & burgers), but the food is good, and it's a nice little cafe. There are plenty of options for meat eaters too. Vegetarian and vegan options can be hard to find in the heart of the Gulf Coast, so this is definitely a safe place to stop. read more

The food is excellent here as well as the service! I really enjoyed my meal and the suggestions of the waiter were excellent (chicken sausage in the burrito instead of tofu was a great idea and the breakfast pizza was amazing! I almost ordered another one as my meal!). The wasabi bloody Mary was an awesome way to wash down my meal and the healthy choices made me feel better about what I was eating. I'm not a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination but I appreciate a menu that allows for heathy choices to traditional types of meals. We have been looking forward to going back for a while now, if their lunch is as good as their breakfast choice then this will be one of our favorite places to go anytime. Glad my husband and I discovered this place while staying in Fairhope. It was so good we dined here everyday day during our vacation. My favorite dish was the peanut thai salad. Best time to come is during the week in the evenings before 9 its quiet and the tables are candlelit. read more

Stopped in here before our daughter's volleyball game. The place is super cute and the staff is very friendly. Why we chose to go here is because there is very limited vegan choices in Mobile. While the restaurant is not exclusively began it does offer many dishes that are. We had the hummus platter, cran Apple turkey sandwich, jerk chicken wrap and a salad with Tempe. They had a blueberry quinoa side dish which was so good. Everything we ordered was prepared began and tasted so good. Would come back in a heartbeat. read more

This place will be here for a long time. Outstanding vegan food. Quality service. Good atmosphere.

Wow! So I get there before closing and I guess that upsets the waitress. I order the French Dip. The bread is burnt and tastes like cardboard. The beef may be organic which is great, but it is hard and dry as a bone. The au jus is very good so I managed to eat the extremely small sandwich by covering it in the sauce. The water does taste clean and filtered, but after a return visit from the waitress, my glass of water remained empty and was not refilled. The side salad is nothing but greens and baby sprouts---no nuts, no cheese crumbles, no tomatoes, no onions. The dressing was homemade which made the salad tolerable. The fruit salad was extremely small as well. I didn't even want to chance wasting more money on a dessert. My question is where is the owner of this establishment? read more

One of the best restaurants I have ever ate at. It had a great atmosphere and you could feel good vibes everywhere. The waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Food was delicious. As a vegan, I was very happy to see a restaurant with so many vegan, vegetarian, and omnivorous options on the menu. Great selection of wraps, salads, melts, and stir frys. The Jamaican Jerk wrap with tofu was amazing. Also, the fresh hummus and blueberry lemonade was great. Definitely coming back again. I could eat here every day. read more

I hate to give this one star because the waitress was incredibly kind and efficient. But the meal was one of the worst I've had in recent memory. My wife and I had the black bean dip which wasn't terrible but was rather bland. The real issue was that it was luke warm which just made the entire appetizer unappealing. But then we both got tempeh salads and although there were limited ingredients, somehow it was repulsive. The tempeh was room temperature and was dry, bitter and inedible. The Greek yogurt dressing ruined the only other ingredients - red lettuce and quinoa. I'm not sure how they screwed up the salad so bad but neither of us could eat much of it. There was something about the combination of the ingredients that made every bite more disgusting than the next. Hard to explain, but a day later and we're still ruminating over it. It was the kind of meal that you later use as your "disgusting" benchmark. "It wasn't sunflower cafe disgusting, but it was pretty bad." We are both vegetarians so it was a real bummer to have such a bad meal at one of the very few vegetarian dining options available in this area. read more

We have visited fairhope several times and are always looking for healthy non commercialized places to eat . This is a very good one . We ordered the Thai curry and sesame seed dishes with shrimp. Vegetarian heaven in Mobile, Alabama! A truly wonderful dining experience. The service rocks. The food is mindblowingly tasty. Try a Mediterranean Tofurkey Wrap or their Sweet Potato Salad. We were a film crew of four with two vegetarians, one vegan, and one carnivore. And we ate lunch there four days in a row and were always completely satisfied. I wish I could bring this place back to Connecticut with us. read more

Probably a decent place for lunch but we went for dinner and were disappointed. Service was good but food was not worth the price. Hummus was very good but the entrees were not. The ginger stir fry was something I could have made at home. My wife had the special which was lemon wasabi seared tuna and was overcooked and under flavored. Key lime pie was very good. read more

This place defies the stereotype that food is either good or good for you. I had the black bean chipotle burrito (wrap) with the hummus of the day and fruit cup. The fruit cup disappointed but the chipotle hummus made up for it. Served with soft, warm flatbread, the hummus really hit the spot. It paled next to the wrap. The black bean chipotle wrap was satisfying and delicious. I struggled to finish it, but couldn't bring myself to stop. On that point, the serving sizes were more than I expected. Although reasonably spicy, the flavor did not overpower the ingredients. As an added bonus, they serve a locally roasted coffee which is outstanding. (If you like the big commercial coffees, this might not be for you.) The service was attentive without being too "up in your business," although I arrived after lunch rush and had very little competition for my server's attention. At just under $20.00 per person with tip, it is not the cheapest lunch around, but it was a good value for the quality and portion size. read more

I just dropped in to see what they had and was very happy I did. The staff was very friendly and the music was great. The food was fantastic. They even serve filtered water. I know this isn't a big deal but it is to me. I had a crab stuffed portobello mushroom and it was Devine. I'm not a vegetarian but I could be if I could eat at the sunflower cafe.
