My daughter's wedding and her now husband We're married a few weeks ago I finally had a minute to put my thoughts into words. The wedding in the end was fantastic the food was great the service was amazing in the end but getting to that point was a little trying, with the sale of the facility. The new owner not knowing Our negotiations, And in the end it all worked out and was a beautiful event for all. I would ask to speak to Joel the owner and work with him as he made everything perfect. We have been to countless events at SunnyBrook, and each and every time it's a fabulous day/night! Dance, comedy, dance lessons, murder mystery dinners, you name it! Comics from LA and NYC, outstanding cover bands, as well as well-known bands and entertainers perform on a regular basis. The staff is always cheerful and professional, and they go out of their way to make your experience a pleasant one! The ballroom is absolutely beautiful, and we also love the ambience in Gatsby's! Outstanding food! The lovely owner is always there, and makes sure everyone has a great time. Free parking and very reasonable rates for events! Our daughter was married here two weeks ago and it was wonderful! The team pulled together and ran a seamless event! We were nervous because there is a new owner and the management that promised everything was no longer there. Everyone thought the venue was beautiful and the food was very good! Our only suggestion would be to have a separate entrance and bathrooms for the new comedy club if a wedding or large event is going on at the same time. Attended a Mother's Day' brunch on 5/12/24. We were part of the 12:00 seating- there were not enough seats and people had to wait for additional tables to be brought out. Waited 15 -20 minutes in line for food which was typical buffet fare. That would be fine if the food was warm. Additional 5-10 minute wait at the cash bar. Finally the dessert table was wiped out immediately and there were not many options if you were one of the later people in line. All in all, the experience was as very disappointing. I did enjoy the organ music. read more

We have been to the SunnyBrook Ballroom on several occasions. Great shows of all kinds, excellent food and incredible staff! The history of this ballroom is amazing with many musicians and singers having performed here. My husband, friends and myself have gone to Sunnybrook Ballroom for Salsa Night and for Line Dancing. We had so much fun at no the events! This place has a huge ballroom dance floor great for Salsa dancing! I like to thank the owners and the event coordinators not only for all their events but especially for Salsa Nights. Since we moved to this area and of course the pandemic it was so hard finding a safe place to dance, now we have. Went there for Mother's Day brunch and have NO idea how they can explain charging $40 per person for brunch. We arrived to no dishes for the buffet, empty serving dishes, unoccupied omelette/pasta bars. The food we managed to find? Was not only cold but incredibly disappointing. Nothing we ate justified the exorbitant buffet cost. Tables were dirty, and servers provided malaise. Sunnybrook ballroom had the audacity to include a 20% tip for a server who fulfilled the bare minimum to see our drinks were filled, yet she made sure to tell us she was missing out on time with her kids to be at work as a "server" at a buffet. read more

Had an opportunity to visit this establishment for a dance recital once and last night, New Years Eve for which we bought tickets to attend. The establishment has tremendous history and a classy feel for it - but that is where the old time history ends - this place with amazing potential does not hit on all stars. The Dance Recital is what it is but the NYE celebration. We truly had a good time but for what they charge (I am not a penny pincher) and in fact work in the restaurant business and am aware of the cost ratios. Staff was generally very kind and festive. 1. Food stations - not open long, wiped out fast and extremely long lines. For a major event at this price point - you folks need to keep those lines moving, keep it open throughout the night and add more staff. Growing tired of the COVID excuses - if you can't staff, don't have events and charge those prices. Food quality was average at best 2. Band was very good - well done. 3. Parking - The mid river in the back lots? Ladies on heels? Folks - get valet? This is a venue, right? 4. Bathrooms - Need to work on keeping them clean. 5. Bartenders - very slow and drinks not made consistently. Work on things and reviews will improve. read more

The venue is just as pretty as it always is, BUT with the new owner prices have skyrocketed! We hosted our Prom here. For $1,000 we got a few plates of cheese and crackers that was supposed to feed 400 people. It was never replenished when it was gone and it was cheap packaged cheeses. For $1,000 we got three trays of pretzels. They had no salt on them and there were no dipping sauces...I could've bought Philly Pretzels cheaper and better quality for the kids. For $1,000 we got a post-party candy bar. The table of candy probably cost them $200 at most! The meat was delicious, but the pasta had green beans and carrots in it and the vegetables were so salty it tasted like I was eating spoonfuls of salt. I am not the only one who is complaining about that. When I talked to many of my students they have the same complaints. We were supposed to get Shirley Temples as a drink choice, but when I went up to ask for one she didn't look pleased and then the lady told me that they ran of out cherries during the last event. I don't think we will host our Prom here again. It's a shame, because we have been going to Sunnybrook for YEARS for Prom. Their customer service was amazing and their food was excellent. It seems like they only care about making money and now about truly serving their guests. read more

Long, honest review to support 1 star. My baby shower was held in the Gatsby room of Sunnybrook this past weekend and all I can say is - if it were not for all the work and effort my family put in I would have been extremely disappointed. We had a smaller gathering due to COVID and were treated as nothing but an inconvenience. They were overbooked, understaffed and it was very unfair to us. To name a few of the major points: 1) upon arrival, the room was set up entirely differently than discussed with the coordinator. All the decorations had to be adjusted to accommodate within the hour they gave the hosts to set up. The food for the buffet was stuffed in a corner and the soup was so high up on a shelf that the guests could barely reach it. There was supposed to be coffee, tea and soda included with our food package but I never saw any of it, and neither did the guests I asked. We paid for it, but it was never served. 2) a server approached A GUEST (not a host, a guest) at the end of the event and told her that because they aren't a restaurant they don't have takeout containers so all our leftover food was going to be thrown away. After we complained about it, they came back with 3 leftover containers for us to fill, which was confusing and seemed deceitful. We paid for the food - it was absolutely unacceptable to say it would just be thrown away. 3) we brought in a cake from an outside bakery and the staff took it away to be cut without consulting any of the hosts. I didn't even get to see the cake before it was cut. The cake had two layers and there was plenty for generous pieces - they absolutely butchered this beautiful cake into the sloppiest and tiniest pieces. Also, even though the rest of the food was all buffet style they butlered the cake? There were two flavors, they didn't ask guest which flavor they wanted, just passed out slices. They didn't bring out extra slices either.. it was all very strange, there should have been plenty for all. And there should have been tons leftover, but there wasn't - which was also alarming. 4) Other than the butlered cake, my drink being filled one time, and the tables being cleared of lunch plates, I did not see a single server in the room the entire event until the very end when they watched us pack up the room ourselves. My 60 year old mother carried chairs around the venue for guests rather than being assisted by any employees. At one point a server told my sister she was going to another room and to come get her if she was needed! What?! Why would we be tracking down a server for help? We're supposed to walk into someone else's event to get assistance? After our experience I absolutely could not recommend Sunnybrook for a private event. The service, food and event organization was all very disappointing. We certainly did not get what we paid for and will not be returning. read more

Went for a 50th birthday party, we had a party of about 20. The service was decent, we had 1 waitress for our table. She had help serving and that was OK! yay! The food is where is goes a little south, we had fish and filet. The fish was way way way way over cooked. The filet was alright but nothing spectacular. Everything else was OK, really nothing to scream about either way. Went to cash out and our 1 waitress had a lot of trouble. Getting her help apparently wasn't a thing. Some people waited almost 90 minutes to get the check. Bumped into a manager outside (random right?) she didn't seem to concerned, actually not at all. If you have 4 hours for an OK dinner with management akin to the Honey badger please stop in! Otherwise skip it. read more

Cocktails were not well made. Ordered oysters, a cheese "fondue" with bratwurst, scallop chowder and seafood risotto. Mediocre at best. The scallop chowder had no flavor and no discernible scallops. The risotto had an overpowering amount of thyme in it. We both got food poisoning- not blaming the restaurant for that one, raw oysters are a gamble, but it was the first time either of us have ever gotten sick off oysters in 20ish years of eating them. read more

Hung out there on Friday for the first time and this is now one of my favorite spots in Pottstown. The atmosphere is classy, nostalgic, and fun. Staff were great - they sported that gatsby era vibe and were very nice. Calamari was delicious. We were celebrating a friends birthday, had appetizers/drinks. A live pianist and singer were jammin. Volume was just right, you could still have conversations - they sang a great rendition of happy birthday for my friend. I was shocked that there weren't more people there that night but then again I only recently heard of the place myself. Five stars for sure this is one of the gems of Pottstown and I hope more people find out about it. read more

Went to the restaurant for Mother's Day. Had many good meals at Sunnybrook buffets in the past. I was excited to go. The food was terrible! Paid $40 for a meal the salmon was hard the rolls were stale nothing was restocked and the dessert buffet looked like an animal ran through it. There was nobody putting more food out or plates, I think this is terrible. Considering we pay just as much for the meal as he did 1130I wouldn't have paid for this meal under any other circumstance. They should've been embarrassed to have a buffet on special occasions such as this. The food wasn't even lukewarm. I contacted the restaurant with my complaints they never contacted me back.If you go to this restaurant please don't go to the buffet you'll be terribly disappointed read more

We had amazing service, food and drinks at Gatsby's. It was a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday. Our server/bartender, Eric, was superb. I asked if I can get a spicy version of their margarita, and it was heaven with the black lava salted rim. Eric is a bartending artist! Our food was spot on. We ordered California burgers, medium cooked to a perfect pinky color on both. I love the logo stamped brioche bun. Nice touch! And the Gorgonzola truffle fries for the extra $2 was well worth it. We plan on many more visits to Gatsby's! read more

We dined here in December with a party of eight and had a very nice experience. I returned with a client in March and was thoroughly disappointed. As we entered, the music was so loud that the hostess couldn't hear my name. My client ordered linguine Alfredo and scallops. After about a 20 minute wait his dinner arrived with only4 scallops. He asked for more and again it was a long wait to receive four more under cooked scallops. We had to ask for bread two times. We asked for fresh ground pepper but never received it. It took 10 minutes to process my payment and the restaurant was nearly empty at that point. read more

This was our first visit to Gatsby's, it's located behind Pottstown Hospital and the parking lot is behind the banquet building. The restaurant is basically one big room with second floor seating and very tasteful decor. We were there on a Saturday night and reserved a table for 2 through open table. We were greeted and seated quickly, I ordered the cocktail called About Figgin Thyme and my husband ordered the Gatsby's Pale Ale. The cocktail was good, the beer just okay, tasted more like a flattish pilsner. I ordered the champagne scallop cream soup and my husband ordered the spinach salad. The soup was very good, I'd definitely get it again, fantastic flavor but, filling. The spinach salad was nice, standard salad with a balsamic dressing. For an entrée I chose the sesame ahi tuna and my husband the swordfish, the sides were roasted corn with peppers and parmesan mashed. The ahi came out in two one inch thick triangular filets, cooked medium rare. The flavor was good but, the tuna itself was difficult to cut through, very rubbery- I was able to eat a portion of one of the pieces before I just got kind of disgusted with it. My husbands swordfish was dry on the outside and cool toward the middle. It was served with a salsa and overall bland. I sent nearly a full plate of food back and was never asked why I didn't eat it or want to take it home. It's possible I just got a bad piece of tuna, I've definitely had that before where the portion is not the best cut. As far as the swordfish went, I think it's probably not their best dish. The bill was $102. for the above and additionally I had a glass of Chardonnay with dinner and my husband had a Second beer- Victory this time. It's a lovely place, service was good. I wouldn't try either of the dishes we got again but, I may return and try a non-fish entrée? read more

We had a great meal here last night. We loved the decor and for the most part the food was great. My Champagne Scallop soup was up there with the best I've ever had. My wife had the lobster bisque and enjoyed it also. For my entree I had the shoulder filet because it was the only cut on the menu that I had never had before. It was honestly just as good as filet mignon but $10 cheap! My wife did not enjoy the twin lobster tails as much. She said they were tough and a bit too salty. I tasted some and seemed good to me. Our waitress was Brittany and she really couldn't have been any better! She just did and got everything right! Pacing was great as well (for food). As for the negatives, the drinks came out slow. I could see the bartender working his tail off but maybe get him some help because the place wasn't even completely full. The other weird thing is that the restaurant hasn't quite figured out what it wants to be in terms of "fine dining" or casual. It was the strangest mix of people I've ever seen in a restaurant. You had people in suits and women in dresses (I wore slacks and a button down shirt) but then there were also people everywhere with jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts. I'm usually the one that feels underdressed so I'm not trying to be a snob, but it did take away from the nice night out with the wife. Felt less special. One last thing - kudos to the piano man! It was much better than the pop music they had on before he started! Overall we enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back sometime. read more

First time we went was great. Last time we went.... not so much. 1st visit = good food and prompt and pleasant service. Worth another go. Last visit (literally and figuratively) = food wasn't prepared as accurately as before; wild boar was overlooked and mismatched with its sauce (personal opinion). We waited an hour and a half for our entrees, with 4 little children who weren't nearly as patient as the adults were. I asked the manager (at the hour and 10 min mark) if everything was ok with our order / her immediate response was to ask me what I had ordered and told me that the boat takes 25 mins alone to cook. I think she missed the point and was self defensive with me as an initial reaction. I spent $325 for a small group (which isn't that bad actually), 3 hours with 4 kids for a birthday dinner on a Sunday, that the restaurant clearly wasn't staffed for (or in my opinion... really not interested in serving). 1st visit was a 4 star experience. Lovely place to enjoy a delicious lunch with family or friends. Beautiful building and lovely atmosphere. Top notch service. Waitress was very attentive and professional. Everyone was very concerned that we were enjoying our lunch, even the chef asked how we enjoyed our lunch. They treated my 9-year-old son like a king. The chef even made sure he had extra ice cream on his brownie sundae. The food was fantastic! I adored the champagne scallop soup. It was creamy and the scallops melted in your mouth. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their soups, salads, and sandwiches. My son gobbled up his spaghetti and meatballs off of the children's menu. Dinner rolls with herbed butter were brought out before our meal and were perfect. I would really like to go back to try their brunch. Fantastic. Can't believe there's not more people here. I had 2 signature cocktails. The blackberry bourbon sling and the smokin margarita. Both unique and delicious. We had the fried calamari appetizer. It was good. And my husband enjoyed the edible basket it was presented on. For dinner I had the filet migon. It was perfect. The best I've had in a long time. This is a review for dinner: The decor is beautiful. The service was both friendly and responsive. The live music (it was a Saturday) was great. The drinks were tasty (I got a monthly special: the mojito) and the food was delicious. I highly recommend trying it out. My husband enjoyed his burger and my soup was tasty. Have been here once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner was great with live music, excellent service, and amazing food! A little on the high end price wise, but totally worth it! Can't beat their happy hour specials from 4:30 to 6:30. $3 off most cocktails, $5 house wine, and half-price apps. The bourbon pear specialty drink for October was just meh, but the black cherry bourbon sling was AMAZING! We shared a few appetizers between the group, and all were fantastic. Truffle fries, lobster/avocado tartare, and asparagus wrapped in ribeye (could have done with a pinch of finishing salt... but still great!). I stole one of my friend's AYCE mussels in white wine/garlic sauce, and that was also great. Just don't plan on kissing your date after. ;) The bar was reasonably full for a Tuesday, but there was only one occupied table in the entire restaurant. I felt bad for the servers just sitting around. Hopefully it picks up, it's a real gem of a space. Side note: better count on actually chatting with your companions while sitting at the bar, as cell signal is pretty dismal. Totally drained my phone, and I wasn't even really using it. I sat at the Bar..... service was quick, and I was greeted before I even got my coat off, I like that. I was driving so only had a beer, but was told about the craft cocktails.....I'll try when I have a driver or Uber. Lunch was good, bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. And very fast.
