We were so disappointed because of the great reviews. The pictures at the counter menu is different than what they serve. The meals now come with a salad drenched in honey mustard. My wife enjoyed her Kalbi Steak, and the soft eggs were cooked perfectly in all our dishes, however the rest of our dishes were drowned in sesame oil and honey mustard! Both the Beef & Butter, and the Shoyu Chicken were tender, but unfortunately the flavor was drowned out. I do not understand these joints that drench sauces all over their dishes! 11:45pm on our first night on Oahu after weeks of island hopping when we wound up here which was a blessing! The owner was amazing! He and those working were so gracious preparing one of us a snowcone after checking to see that some had frozen after running out earlier and it was out of this world -old school perfect crunchy with delicious strawberry flavoring. Also gracious enough to prepare the best glass noodles we've had anywhere-crunchy fresh carrot strips and cabbage with perfectly cheesy seasoned glass noodles. The Tteokbokki was perfect as he tailored spice level to our preference which isn't super hot lol. I thought the bowls came with pickled onions and sauces but this was just beef, an egg, rice and lettuce with dressing. I've been coming here for the past 6 years when visiting hawaii. It doesn't look like anything special and it's in a little shack tucked away. The beef and butter meal is the best I've ever had! The husband and I ordered the Kalbi Steak & Egg Bowl in which food came out quickly. Food was okay and everything tasted fine, but it wasn't memorable and I certainly wouldn't say it was "the best." Portion sizes are decent, prices were a bit steep, and there is limited outdoor seating. The staff also wasn't particularly welcoming or friendly. 1/7/23 It saddens me that I have to give this place 1 star because the pictures looked so good, but that expectation was crushed when Zach and I stopped by to get a quick bite for dinner. There was a handful of people waiting when we got there. It's a small menu and you order at a window. There is some outdoor seating. When your order is ready, there will be an automated message that tells you your order number and to pick up your meal. Upon check-in, you can get a free miso soup or drink. Here's what we got: 1. Organic tofu bibimbap set with a miso soup and kimchi. 2. Chicken mayo bibimbap (mine) + free miso soup with check in The food took about 25 minutes to be ready for pick up. They messed up the order because they forgot to include the miso soup with Zach's meal. The chicken and egg is good in taste but it was all drenched in mayonnaise. I enjoy mayo once in a while, but the amount they put in this single bowl was more than what I would eat in a year. Zach was also unhappy with his meal. He described it as "a bland tofu salad covered with sriracha". He had to force himself to finish his bowl. I couldn't finish mine at all due to the mayo overload. I could only tolerate a handful of bites before I started to feel sick. Zach did comment that the kimchi was okay, but it was very sad-looking. Even the miso soup was pretty abysmal... it would be more accurate to call it a cup of miso. Overall, the experience we had with Topped Waikiki was not good at all. We waited almost 30 minutes for unpleasant tasting food. We gave this place a chance and it was a fail. Best to skip this spot as there are definitely better spots to get food. read more

Oh my gosh! The food was divine! It's truly a hole in the wall kind of place. I can't believe its name TOPPED too but the food was delectable! Even at night it was so fresh.
