Sam was great! He had so much information about the island and its history. We went mainly for the activities but he made it that much better! He was very informative on how our day was going to go so no stress at all. We chose to do two activities, we started off with the snorkeling which was an amazing experience as it was also my first time. Then we decided to try kayaking which I hadn't done before either, turns out I'm a natural lol. While kayaking I saw a turtle and almost ran in to him so make sure to be on the look out for the beautiful sea life. Overall we had a full day of fun AND relaxation. Only giving this 5 stars cus uncle Kevin was wonderful and on time to pick us up! He was funny, informative, and easy to talk to. He took us to some great places and we learned so much about the island. The first stop was a macadamia nut shop which I sampled and was amazing. Then we stopped at a fruit stand, the fruits were good but kinda expensive. Next we stopped for snorkeling at sharks cove. I'm not gonna lie it was a little rocky and kinda hard to swim. The waves were really rough the day we went and the dive shop was a little annoying cus they didn't seem to care about us lol. The guys there were not really friendly and not helpful either lol. We only snorkeled for like an hour maybe cus there wasn't much to see. We stopped a lunch at the burger food truck there and it was really good. We then went paddle boarding and the waters were nice and flat. Then we went back and we got back on time. It was a good day overall! read more

We had a fantastic tour of the North Shore with our driver and tour guide Cousin G today - round trip from Aulani. Comfortable, clean bus, entertaining and interesting drive & very personable and friendly guide who explained what we were seeing, gave us some history and taught us some Hawaiian words. We had the chance to kayak down a river and saw quite a few big honu (sea turtles) as we paddled along, got to hike at Waimea Valley and swim at the waterfall, then we were able to explore Haleiwa town for a while. Really wonderful day for our family of four! Our 8 year old gave the day a 10/10. They offer a number of great options for activities and everything was easy and smooth. Great day! read more

We went on the Surf bus tour with Uncle Kevin! What an awesome experience and what a great guide we had yesterday. The day starts with a couple of stops for coffee, macadamia nuts and fresh fruits stands. The trip to Sharks cove offers a chance to snorkel or go on a hike thru a botanical garden that leads to a beautiful waterfall. We did the snorkeling and as a first timer I will tell you that it was righteous! We swam with turtles and saw so many fish and ocean creatures. Then we had lunch at a stop that had 4-5 great food options. The next part of the adventure was kayaking or paddle boarding. Some opted to go into the town and shop and sightsee. Wow! This was a great tour. From the moment we got on the bus, our tour guide Uncle Kevin, was very courteous and friendly. As we started the tour, I could tell my entire family was enjoying the drive from Waikiki to North Shore. Uncle Kevin had a wealth of knowledge about Hawaiian history, US history, places to eat and other places to visit that weren't on the tour. He was funny and kept people engaged. A couple days prior, our family took another tour snorkeling, but was disappointed and left feeling it was a tourist trap. Not this tour! We all loved it!! I would definitely recommend the tour and I'd ask for Uncle Kevin by name if you can. We hiked to and swam under a waterfall, kayaked up river and had just enough time to squeeze in a little snorkeling during our lunch break. We saw more sea life during this side snorkeling as we did on the entire previous tour. Then, to finish it off, we got to see a sea turtle sunning on the beach, which was a great photo opportunity. Acey was an awesome guide! He grew up on the island and filled the tour with stops at local places AND all of the advertised places. We departed at 10am and had to wait for a few people so he took us to a local bakery (Leonard's) for their famous malasadas! We then departed for the North Shore and saw lots of beaches. You could choose from snorkeling, biking, and a waterfall swim. I chose the waterfall, but biking would have been awesome too. If you bring your own snorkel, I recommend getting the bike, you can then check out beaches AND snorkel. The waterfall was awesome, but 2 hours there was a little much. From there we went to have lunch and you could surf, kayak, or just hang out in town. Acey is great at recommending places to go to, so ask for suggestions! After our final activities, Acey took us to a beach the locals go to for turtle watching. It paid off because it wasn't crowded, like Turtle Beach, and we saw a few turtles! We got back to our hotel around 6:30pm. Don't be hesitant to take this tour, all fitness levels can do it! It was also well worth the tour price! I'd do it again. read more

Cousin G is the MAN! My fiance booked this tour as it provided an activity packed day. We ( my fiance and 11 year old son) were departing from the Aulani Resort. Cousin G picked us up promptly at our hotel. We had about 3-4 other couples on our tour which allowed us to get to know others who were staying at our hotel. The tour offers 2 locations where you can do activities. Each spot has 2 options and you can pick one. Our first stop was a choice of paddle boarding or kayaking in the lagoon with sea turtles. My fiance picked kayaking and us boys picked paddle boards. We were able to hang around the lagoon and saw 1-2 sea turtles. We were cautioned to not go beyond the break as the current was strong and would take you out into the runway for the boats in the harbor. My fiance was feeling a bit adventurous and decided to venture beyond the lagoon. Before we knew it the current had picked up and we noticed our son was having difficulty keeping up with us. He ended up drifting quite far away and we became panicked. I stayed with him while my fiance went to shore for help. We were assisted by the rental company and made it back. I say all this because throughout this time Cousin G and our group were extremely understanding and supportive. We were apologetic to all but Cousin G brushed it off with a smile and said "one experience you'll never forget!". We were on to our next activity in which we could pick between a waterfall hike or snorkeling in the lagoon with fish. We decided to snorkel and boy was it worth it! Shallow safe waters and thousands of fish! We were given vouchers for the food trucks which were absolutely delicious. Each excursion offered us about 1-2 hours to enjoy the activity. Lastly we went to town where we were able to shop and buy souvenir's and get some shaved ice :). Cousin G was patient, knowledgable, funny, and talkative. He was very relatable and informed us on so many facts about the island. He connected with each of us and our hometowns and made the experience so enjoyable! I highly recommend this tour group. This was one of the highlights of the trip. Uncle Kevin was knowledgeable and accommodating. Absolutely cannot speak of the praise in enjoyment and access to things we heard about from all parties on the bus. The weakest part of the trip was the nut factory, why? Because of the but factory not the bus or Kevin! Love it recommend it! Highly recommend the North Shore tour as you get to see all the must see spots, learn about the island, and leave the bus to do activities. Our guide, Uncle Kevin was amazing. I view Tour guides similar as school teachers or sport coaches. If you have a good school teacher or coach you will enjoy a lot more. That's exactly how Uncle Kevin was. My only recommendation is to take the tour early in your trip. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! PLEASE READ. My dad booked us on this day tour. For each person, he only paid 82$. In that 82$ it included the round trip drive, 2 activities each. The morning activities you can choose from are: snorkeling (I did this and it was really cool), hiking, bike riding, and or body board. Each activity is about 13$. Then after morning activities you have time in the afternoon to do other activities, such as: stand up paddle boarding (pretty fun, you have to have great balance to enjoy this), kayak, and/or get surf lessons. Along the way, your driver will tell you all the great spots to eat and shop. So our driver was Harry and he is awesome. Great, kind guy. He picked us up around 8:15AM and we got to the North Shore a little after 9AM. As he drove he explained the day and some background information on Hawaii. As we got to the North Shore, Harry drove us to the 3 mile stretch of the beaches and eateries, which will be the locations you will be eating in and doing activities. The beaches are AWESOME. Clear, blue water (check out the picture I posted). So around 950 he showed us Pipeline and took a few pictures there. Then he dropped us off at the snorkeling/bike area and by then you should already have an idea of what to do. So from 11AM to 13:50, we had our activity time. We went snorkeling and then walked to Waimea Bay, about a 15 minute walk. That beach is really nice! You can also cliff dive there, 10-25 feet. There is a good taco truck at this beach if you get too hungry, but eat light because the good places to eat are in town, about about a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic. He then took us to turtle beach and we got to sea endangered turtles, this was about a 10 minute stop. Around 2, Harry will drop you off at the kayak/paddle board stop or directly drive you into town where you can go shop and eat. Around 15:00 we started to walk into town and we ate at places Harry recommended, both of which were awesome! If you take the tour, request Harry, if you can, but I am sure the other drivers are just as nice and funny. read more
