I work around this area and come here whenever I crave a quality roll. I usually order the yellowtail every single time, because of all sushi places I've been to theirs always seems to be more fresh. This doesn't just go for one fish but many of the ones I have tried as well. Solid. I try to judge restaurants based on how well they succeed in what they are trying to do. Sushi Joint might be the best sushi in Camas -- but that's not saying much. I was very pleased with my meal (rainbow roll + spicy tuna roll): the fish tasted fresh and the preparation was thoughtful. I came for lunch and the place wasn't particularly busy. The service was exemplary, and I was very happy with my server's courteousness and the short time I waited for my food. If you're in the Camas/Washougal area, I would strongly recommend this place as a nice lunch place. The pricing is competitive with other sushi places so I rated it in comparison to the many fine sushi places in the area. A welcome addition to a smaller town. read more

Every time we visit, the owner makes us feel like he recognizes us--even while wearing masks! It's such a welcoming vibe, and the sushi is as good as any sushi we've had in Portland, outside of the few high-end spots. The fish is fresh, the rice is excellent, the rolls are nicely sized (and don't fall apart--important!), and it's an enjoyable experience from pickup to unpacking the takeout. (Please note, as you read this review, we have been eating sushi for over 25 years and have patronized over hundreds of sushi places throughout the country and abroad. Also, we do not like to write negative reviews unless the establishment needs to be acknowledgedfor it so others do not suffer the same fate. ) We were craving for some sushi so we looked up sushi places around where we were staying. The Sushi Joint popped up. We came here based on the Yelp reviews. We knew we were not going to get great sushi like in L.A. or Japan, but we were hoping for at a minimum mediocre. We did not even get that. The sushi was slightly warm, which should have been cold. They also did not have a lot of variety. We asked for a couple items on the menu and they stated they didn't have any more. We did try the Washougal roll and that was okay. Because we were still hungry, we ordered a California roll, which we never, ever order at any sushi place, but we were hungry and thought it was safe. It was mediocre. Both rolls had more rice than fish which we were not used to. We would have given another star if the service was good. Unfortunately it was not. The server was very unattentive. We had to always ask for our water glasses to be refilled. He never asked if we wanted anything else. Also, the service was extremely slow. A turtle was faster than the service we received. There were only 3 tables (including us) and a total of 8 patrons. Literally, we drank five 16-ounces glasses of water (35 minutes) before we got our first sushi item. Crazy! Needless to say, we will never come back here when we come to Washington. read more

Wow! This was one of the most stressful dining experiences I have had, thus far, in Camas. My partner and I were having lunch here today when we witnessed the owner totally lose it on a couple of customers with 2 little girls- I mean like screaming and yelling at them very LOUDLY over nothing we would have deemed inappropriate. The owner seemed uneasy, on edge, and a little grumpy anyways, and honestly often appears a little stressed out every time we come here; but today he lost his cool on local customers and I can't see how this is good for business. He might want to re-assess how he engages with his customers. As a parent of a young child who always behaves well in restaurants, I felt really bad for these customers and their little girls. I found the owner's behavior to be very unprofessional and unsettling. I hope he reads this message and thinks about the horrible way he acted today. read more

Best of the best! I'm a sushi fanatic and LOVE this place! First off, service is always amazing! The server will get to know you especially if you start coming regularly. Steven (I think that's his name?) knows my order as soon as I call in and say my name. Awesome guy, will go out of his way to make your experience the best! The owner is always in & out, and loves to talk so definitely start up a conversation - super cool guy! The sushi is absolutely amazing. They will customize your roll, no problem! My favorite is a beauty & the beast roll (no wasabi), cucumber salad and a salmon hand roll. If you really want to treat yourself, get the sashimi! Let's just start with the fact that I love sushi! I mean it's one of my absolute favorite foods! So I was pretty excited to hear that there was a sushi place in Camas. I finally had the chance to give them a try. I was ready for some tasty sushi! First impression: As I walked in the smell was very strong. They really need to work on the air filtration system. It smells like old oil in There. Second impression: It's a small place a handful of tables and five or six seats at the bar and there's a sign telling me to wait to be seated. Really? Third impression: And this one is going to sound racist, there's not an Asian in the house. Not even the Itamae! Fourth impression: I placed my order and sat down to wait. And wait I did. I waited for more than 30 minutes. Not a single word was said to me after I placed my order. I have an hour lunch break I figured that's enough time to run into town to get some sushi to go. Apparently at A Sushi Joint it's not even close. So here I am, back on my desk wishing I had sushi with a rumbling tummy. Really great sushi. I went there twice in one week. Can't beat this place for sushi in the Camas/Vancouver area. I put this right up there with my favorite sushi bars in Portland, West Los Angeles, and New York. The rice is perfectly seasoned and has good texture. We only had rolls, so I cannot comment on the nigiri or sashimi. The fish was fresh and well portioned. The service was great both times. I will definitely frequent this place. read more

They don't have a/c but instead blow a floor fan at you which is also blowing crap from the floor onto your food. And the waiter kept putting his hands on me. So I have to put up with being surveilled in a hot restaurant, put up with the waiter thinking he can handle me, and I get warm fish sushi for my trouble. Why oh why does this place get such glowing reviews? Keep your hands to yourself, buy an air conditioner like normal people and refrigerate your ingredients!! It's not hard people! Have been eating here very frequently. The fish is very fresh and have been splitting the Sashimi 9 piece chiefs choice and a spider roll. Unagi is great as well. Service is a bit slow but never really in a big hurry. Staff is very pleasant and it's a nice atmosphere inside. Clean and comfortable. Very happy to have a sushi place this good in downtown Camas. I've been here several times now, and I haven't been disappointed.

I don't normally give bad reviews but I felt inclined to due to the extremely poor service we experienced this evening. Food was good but that's where it ends. We were told we could sit outside (mind you there were only two other patrons inside) so we gladly took a seat outdoors. Our server forgot about us 3 times, it took her 15 minutes to bring us waters, she asked us the same questions several times and was clearly inebriated. We were also nice and patient with her the whole time. But to top it off at the very end she let us know loudly that our card was declined.. but we knew this wasn't the case.. we used it directly after we had dinner. Switched from their Washougal location to the new Camas spot and it's for sure spot on, we love it. Hope the Camas community supports them as they're not always great at supporting local but Sushi Joint 2 is pretty much as good as it gets.
