I've had countless meals at the Swinging doors over the years, but today's lunch was less than a 1. ordered the lunch Fish & Chips and when it came it look fine. However after the second bite of the large piece of fried fish I knew something was wrong. The fish inside was not only cold, but actually partially still frozen. The manager happen to be at our table and I handed the meal back and told him the fish was cold. Then they brought me back the original fish (less the large piece), but this time it was hot -- just re-fried now twice. And you guessed it, now the fried fish was seriously over cooked. And they topped if off by charging me full price like nothing had happened. Some days are like that. read more

I came in for dinner with a friend ( only been there once before, years ago) now I love French dips, like we are more than just friends. I saw a version on their menu and I'm always nervous about the meat because most of it is fatty and foul. I asked the waitress if it was good and she already knew my concern. She said it was great and lean and she loves them. My friend and I both ordered it with the AMAZING house made mozzarella sticks, and fried mushrooms. Let me tell you this French dip is probably the best I've had in spokane. Lean meat, Swiss, Texas toast for buns and the au jus was tasty. Fries and tartar were delicious. I will be back frequently. Tough to rate the Swinging Doors! Been here dozen times! 9 times pretty great . 2 times, eh......1 time I wish I could beat those doors in. Bottomline, will i go back? Answer , absolutely , so hence 4 stars. This place has tvs everywhere which makes watching games easy. They have the best golden tee setup I have personally ever seen. Drink prices very fair. Food prices, way high for the type food! But its Washington where all restaurants food prices are higher. Their chef salad is HUGE and very good! Easily two people can eat it. The broasted chicken is pretty good too, but pricey at around15.99. Nachos, RUN for them there hills! ugh. Our service has always been decent, a few misses, but I am just thankful some of the waitresses can even move at all based on their ages! Breakfast is ok here, but always always slow. Good late night food here! The place has outdoor smoking area with TV on the street side of restaurant and overall can sit quite a large number of people. read more

I took my wife there last Saturday for her birthday and she was given a free steak dinner. I ordered the mushroom burger which was one of the best I ever had! My 10 year old is gluten free and he had a large appetizer plate of JOJOs. He loved it. it was so big, we all ate it. MY wife loved her steak, The beer was local and great! Well went here tonight and had the worst service ever from a bartender. Didn't catch her name but she's blonde and thin . She was very short and rude and obviously in a bad mood . She was sitting there talking about me in front of me . She wouldn't know how to be professional if it bit her right in her smug face. Went last night for my Sons Birthday. He had a good, small steak with baked potato for his free Birthday dinner. They charged extra for loading the potato- didn't let him know til the bill came. Prices have gone up dramatically- food isn't worth the higher cost. I had the Monday night Burger- it was cooked nicely but not worth $11.50 for a burger & fries. Was very upset when I got the bill- they charged $.75 each for having lettuce & tomato thrown on the burger! The waiter was great- I let him know how disappointed I was with that & he let the Mgr know which compelled them to take it off the bill. Waiter got a nice tip for his help. The place was very empty for a Sat @ 8pm- only about 15 customers in there. Now I see why. I hope Mgmnt can see why they're losing customers & fix it before they go under. It'd be a shame to lose what used to be a great place to eat/drink in Spokane! read more

(NO STARS) Horrible experience. Food is expensive for what you get. Totally understaffed. Somebody should tell them there is a difference between a sports bar and a family restaurant and they seem to cater to families more so than the people interested in the "Sports Bar" aspect of the business. Too many tables being reserved and walk-ins have no where to sit. If your by yourself, good luck. They discourage one person taking up a whole table to watch games and would rather have you sit at the bar where you can't see a TV very well. They should just reorganize and turn it into another Applebee's. read more

Used to be good a few (6 maybe) years ago. I used to love the Barbs Burger. Now though it's gotten quite pricey for what you get. The burger comes with like 15 french fries. Last I saw it was close to $12. Say what? And once we ordered the Nachos with extra cheese and the extra cheese came out separately from the nachos in a little bowl on the side!!! Honest, I am not joking...it was shredded dry cheese in a little bowl. I guess they don't know that extra cheese on nachos means you put it on the nachos and melt it on them. The quality of food has fallen off a little bit and the prices for food and drinks have skyrocketed... and I swear the menu changes every time I go in there. I went on a fight night and enjoyed myself. There are at least 20 beers on tap, several of which I love and wish they had a sampler so I could have them all! I did not order any food but my comrades did... several times actually and they gave it two thumbs up. It's a little pricey but worth it. Tuesday night and service is horribly slow. We were greeted, no menus told us she'd give us some time to get situated. Finally menus 10 minutes later, drink order took another 10-15 minutes, didn't bring the children's beverages at all. She did state that she was new. Food was decently fast and average tasting. I came to this place with my dad, looking to watch the Huskies game and have a few snacks. When I walked in, there was no one to greet or guide me. The place was crowded and I wasn't sure where to sit because the distinction between the bar and the restaurant was not at all clear. On that note, there is only a short railing between the 21+ area and the family area. The separation seems arbitrary, focused on a pedantic application of the law. In any case, the service was quick and the nachos we ordered were large. The waiter was friendly, too. I really enjoyed watching the game here. The atmosphere is enthusiastic because there are plenty of other sports fans around. When the Huskies scored people cheered loudly. Unfortunately, we had to leave around 9:45, in the middle of the 4th quarter, because they're 21+ late at night. I would come back again for a day game, but not in the evening. read more

Our friend was here from out of town, & it's his birthday. What better than a local experience plus a free steak dinner? While our friend had his well-done steak dinner, my husband and I shared the chicken strips with fries as the side, & I ordered a Shirley temple. It's a bit spendy at over $12 for 5 strips, but it was the perfect amount for the 2 of us to share. One of the many sports bars in Spokane, this one is an established icon on the cornder of Monroe and Francis. This place gets pretty packed on game days, doesn't matter what kind of sport you want to watch, they'll have it on. They have about 50 flat screens and a giant projector wall. Some game days, you can even 'reserve' a table. You can even bring your kids in until 8PM (don't quote me)The waitstaff and bartenders are pretty attentive. They have your usual stuff on tap. It has a lot or regulars. Their food, only thing I really like there if I'm "feeling" my drinks is the mozzarella sticks-it'll get you right back on track.
