Sweet Chilli Chickpea and Tofu with veggies special
    Lacy H.

My husband and I recently moved to Sycamore and every time we drive by it seems pretty busy so we thought we'd check it out! It definitely met our expectations and has a cute diner atmosphere. The service was good, no complaints there! The menu is huge and full of lots of options which can be a red flag but my meal was delicious. I did get a special which was a tofu and chickpea sweet chili plate with some added veggies and rice. It was a unique and tasty dish. It does look like their specials change every day and they had a long list of them so I think I'd be a little disappointed not to be able to get the same meal again! My husband got a steak burger, for him it wasn't anything special and his fries weren't the best but he stilled enjoyed it. Overall we had a good experience and would recommend.

    Eggs Benedict, traditional.

Stopped in here by "accident" a few months ago, had a late lunch, and was so impressed with every aspect of the experience that I vowed to come back for breakfast, which I did today. Had the chopped steak (10oz) and eggs, with hash browns, two over-easy eggs, and marble rye toast. Burger and eggs were prepared as ordered, as were the taters. Fellow diner had perfect traditional Eggs Benedict. There are four different benedicts on the menu. Service was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Coffee was refilled without having to ask. They have daily specials for each different meal time. I'm so glad they survived the troubles. So many mom and pops went out of business. It's a 30 mile drive down country roads to get to Sycamore, a thriving farm community where main street is still vibrant. But it's worth the trip, and if I'm not hungry when I roll through, I'll still pick up some of their excellent baked goods!

I took my poodles in Genoa so I decided to research places nearby! After long walk around and farm visit I found this place to have a breakfast. It is very cute dinner . Service was on point, food was on point. They solved my concerns about my allergies and they recommended me the most delicious pancakes I ever had. I enjoyed coffee and view. I ordered omelette with breakfast sausage, and pancakes on the side. I never had breakfast sausage before. It is interesting flavor, but not my cup of tea. I enjoyed pancakes with butter and syrup. Yum. They have huge parking outside as well as few tables to enjoy outdoor meals.

Had the clam chowder for the first time and it was tasty. Ordered the king on recommendation and it was good as well. Nice little restaurant!

We have eaten here several times. I was surprised I hadn't logged a review, but am happy to…read morecorrect that error on my part! This has a nice restaurant vibe - nice tables, tablecloths, art on the walls, good lighting, nice, quiet carpeted spaces. There is a lot to like. We made a reservation, were greeted at the door and then promptly seated. Water came out quickly, along with the menus and the wine list. The wine list was a bit light in that all the bottles were typically lower cost. With such a wide variety of food on the menu, it deserves a bit more depth and some better wines to be included. Not that the wines that were included were bad - they were not. They are just at the very low entry end of the market. Picking up a few from Justin, Stag's Leap, and others in the $80 range would help enhance the restaurant's list. We both ordered entrees, which came with the either soup or salad - we both elected to get salads, where I selected a Caesar and my wife had a standard salad. The Caesar had plenty of parmesan cheese and croutons. The dressing was a bit thin - traditional Caesar dressings are cream based, this one seemed to be light on the garlic and anchovies. No anchovies were available, so it's kind of a light "Caesar." The regular salad my wife had was good - she enjoyed it. For the main course, I ordered their Filet Mignon, medium rare with a baked potato. The server asked if I wanted butter and sour cream, which I did and which was provided. The filet is provided in a cabernet reduction. This may have been a bit much, it was hard to taste the filet with the reduction. The filet came with broccoli which was steamed and was nicely done. The baked potato was cooked through (as expected, and worked well with the butter and sour cream. My wife enjoyed her Shrimp and Grits - the shrimp was cooked quite nicely and seasoned well. We were concerned about the meal size, so we skipped an appetizer, and it was a good thing since she took half of her shrimp and grits home. We were not rushed out of our table, and had a good time.

It's clear, and they love chicken. I mean they REALLY love Chicken! First off, they are FAST. They were very busy - almost every table filled and they kept filling after people left. After we placed our order, our chicken (two Baby Bird meals) came out HOT and FRESH within around 7 minutes. With my appetite, the Baby Bird is the right size, and I have a big appetite for their chicken. Service was great as well - our drinks were checked, and the server was very pleasant. What a great place to visit in Downtown Sycamore! The drink menu is still impressive, and they even have a Whiskey Acres Bourbon-infused barbeque sauce.

The restaurant is small but a decent amount of tables for the space with cute chicken decorations. Our server was so sweet and delightful. We ordered our drinks and answered all our questions. She was helpful with her opinions on items on the menu and helped make it possible to narrow down the difficult choice of what to order. My friend ordered the soup flight(only available in the fall) and I chose fried pickle burger. (I know a burger at a chicken place) the soup flight had three cups of the soups of the day and a four cup of the brisket chili. It also came with a grilled cheese sandwich. Plenty of food! My deep fried pickle burger was a thick patty, crunchy onions and 2 thick deep fried pickle chips with a dill sauce on top. The burger was juicy and the toppings were delicious with a little crunch. The Dirty Chicken will be a stopping point on my return trip to Sycamore!

There's quite a lot of the other stuff including breakfast items like avocado toast. Crazy all the things they got. There's something for any time of the day or even year. It's about $3 for a cone. They don't have a lot of vegan options here but one thing is the avocado toast. Also there's plenty of coffee. They have a few non dairy milks. Ironic for having ice cream. They have a Roasted Veggie Sandwich at least. Best place around here to go when it gets hot. It's still got lots of hot foods like burgers and classic meals. Two pieces of bread were brought out with a nice salted butter. I went with their 9 ounce Filet Mignon, medium rare, with sautéed spinach, while my wife had their Chicken and Artichoke meal with mixed vegetables. I ordered their Caesar salad with anchovies (you have to ask for them). The Caesar salad was just wonderful, with plenty of salty anchovy goodness present. My wife ordered their chop salad, but they'd run out of that, so she got a house salad instead - and yes, the server did inform us of the switch and made a cost adjustment without being asked. A high point of Ellwood is an above-average wine list. We tried a new cabernet which was good. The wine bottle was opened by the server without it touching the table - nicely done! The steak was cooked properly, and was oh so tender. Very nicely seasoned. The sautéed spinach was perfect - plenty of garlic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her dish. Dinner was so good, any thoughts of dessert were abandoned. We had wine left over, so they put that in the right sealed bag with a receipt so it could be legally transported.
