I've tried made-to-measure programs all over the country--from California to New York--and I can honestly say this is the best made-to-measure suit I've ever had made. What sets this experience apart is that you're not working with someone who is simply selling suits. You're working with someone who genuinely understands classic menswear, tailoring, and proportion, and who has an excellent tailor on the premises. That combination is incredibly rare. In my experience, many made-to-measure programs are primarily sales-driven. The person taking your measurements may be very personable, but often doesn't have a deep understanding of garment construction, fit, or how to modify a pattern to achieve a specific look. This experience was completely different. Every detail was discussed thoughtfully, and there was never any hesitation when I wanted to customize the pattern. Whether it was the lapel shape, shoulder expression, button stance, sleeve pitch, trouser cut, or other details, every request was taken seriously and executed exactly as I envisioned. I'm probably one of the pickiest clients anyone could have when it comes to tailoring. I have extremely high expectations for fit, and I've even had made-to-measure programs tell me they couldn't produce the result I was looking for because my standards were beyond what they felt comfortable promising. Our experience with The Tailored Man was awful. We went here for my husband's 2 custom tuxedos for our wedding in September 2026. The original appointment was fine and Brett seemed knowledgeable and friendly to work with, but I should've known what to expect when he failed to even give us a receipt. Brett, the owner, gave excuse after excuse for delays that led to my husband not having either of his wedding looks ready 2 weeks before our wedding. The new showroom where we went for a fitting was messy, with random packages from other companies lying around (very sus, especially for a company claiming to make custom clothing). When we finally tried the suits, they were TERRIBLY fitted, and his tailor had to completely reconstruct the shirts in 2-3 days since we were flying out ASAP. We literally only got his 2 outfits the day we flew out for our wedding, but we ended up going to Suit Supply for his tuxedo shirt anyway because of how ill fitting it was (wish we just did this from the beginning). Brett disappeared mid-appointment when we raised concerns. He even missed a number of prior appointments, lied about being on-site, and we saw him leaving as we arrived. His dismissive gaslighting--claiming oversized shirts were a preference--was absurd, especially since his suit fit perfectly. The whole ordeal added needless stress before our wedding. Even with a free dinner jacket (ironically, this fit the best out of the 3 jackets we got from him), it didn't make up for Brett's slimy, unprofessional behavior. I later found out the original owners are gone, and Brett Howard now runs it. I absolutely do not recommend them. I'm so glad I finally decided to walk into this shop after walking by it almost everyday for years in the lobby of my office building. I recently had two custom suits made there and also brought in a handful of others for alterations that I'd bought elsewhere. Everything turned out excellent. What I really appreciate is Brett's process. He understands what you're going for but also offers suggestions and ideas you might not have thought of--and they end up being exactly what you didn't know you needed. Had an absolutely horrible experience at EVERY step of the way. You should read all the 1 star reviews before going. I had used them a decade ago under diff mgmt. and it was fine but the product itself was completely screwed up and the communications could not have been more abysmal. He did refund the money at least. I asked for a tux and tux shirt by certain date plus another jacket that did not have a deadline. He promised to have it done by the date along with a comp pocket square and bow-tie. I wanted a certain lapel and unlined sleeves. He asked me to text a video of the suit I got from them years ago (unclear why but I did it). He never responded to acknowledge the text (NBD in that case) but it portended what was to come. I did not hear back approaching the date so I sent an email and did not hear back and had to send follow ups. The assistant finally told me to come on a Fri. I showed up and the waist was too big, the pants were too long, the lapels were wrong, the sleeves were lined, and the tux shirt was not ready; however the jacket I was not in a rush for was ready. The guy who did alterations did not speak much English and told me to come on Monday and it would all be fixed and I had leave for the event the following Fri. I was skeptical so I emailed the owner and assistant and after a few ignored emails the assistant told me they would update me and did not even apologize for the major errors! They never did update me so I sent more panicked emails on that Wed and Thurs and got no answer so I finally showed up on Thurs afternoon. The pants had been shortened and the waist taken in and that was it. I told the alterer to call the owner and he tried to claim he could not find him so I called the number I had texted the video to and told the guy to call me bc I was not leaving his shop. He told me he would call me in 30 min and apologized his assistant did not get back to me (spoiler alert: he was on all the emails) I got angry and told him to call me right away using a curseword. He then had the nerve to tell me there was no need to curse. Given he had ignored about 8 emails approaching a deadline, I figured I had 8 curse words available to use. After having the nerve to tell me not to curse, he had the nerve to offer a free pocket sq and bowtie as if I would not remember that was supposed to be included. In the end I left with my decent pants and a jacket I did not want and had to go to the mall and buy a tux shirt and bow tie. He did refund the money for a jacket and tux shirt; however, nothing could make up for the ignored comms. Given he knew it was for a specific event (as many tuxes would be) the fact that he ignored nearly all comms, tried to blame his assistant is juvenile. I would not have had a tux for the event had I not physically gone down there and gotten belligerent. I understand mistakes happen, but they have to let the client know so the client can make contingency plans. And they should def apologize. read more

Not a great experience. Tux is fine. I have entered a stage of my life where I am attending more events that are black tie optional. Rather than going to Nordstrom I decided to try a custom tux. Made a consult appointment in late January (31st) which turned into a measure and order season. We had an event in late March that was black tie optional. Was told it may arrive in time. It did not which was okay as the timeline was tight and I knew it was a long shot. Next event wasn't until September. In April/May I realized I hadn't received notification so I called and was told they had my tux for a while. Informed Brett that I received no notification. Since my next event wasn't until mid September I took my time and booked my fitting appointment for a Saturday in mid August. Showed up for my 10:30 at 10:20. Brett was nowhere to be seen. The tailor was present and told me take a seat as he tried to locate my shirt. After 15 minutes I was told to try on the pants and coat with my golf polo. Which I did. About 10:50 Brett comes in and locates the shirt. Measuring goes fine. I inquire about cummberbun and suspenders (buttons added) as none were present. Was told I'd get those at final fitting which I booked for two weeks later (holiday weekend) and confirmed with Brett that they would be open. Arrived for final fitting. No Brett, just the tailor. Tailoring was fine and fit is nice. I ask about the cummberbun and suspenders to which the tailor just shrugs. Checks to see if there are buttons for suspenders. Yes. Hunts arounds the office and eventually locates a cummberbun. No suspenders. However I realized I never got a receipt so I don't even know what was ordered. As I was getting ready to change I asked if they had a garment bag? Again a shrug. Eventually one was located. Had thought about buying a suit for a wedding in Key West in January but I think I'll just go to Nordstrom. read more

Like a lot of people in 2023 and 2024, I hadn't needed to wear a suit since the Covid lockdown and once I did I suddenly found that my old ones were in need of replacing. I heard of The Tailored Man via word-of-mouth, and figured I would give them a call and make an appointment to come in. I met with Brett, the creative director, at the shop and we talked through what I was looking for. He showed me lots of different fabric and lining swatches, and we talked through the design elements. Most notably, all of my off-the-rack suits in the past have had narrow 2" lapels but he convinced me to go with a wider 4" lapel to fit my broad shoulders. I ended up ordering two: one navy blue, and one charcoal. It took a while to get them in, and then I came in for a fitting. Brett and the tailor, Van, made a number of small adjustments. When I came back for the second time, they looked amazing. I wear them both all the time: the fabric drapes (and survives a carry-on bag) so much better than my older suits, and the 4" lapel was absolutely the right call. I was so happy that I ended up ordering a tuxedo, then a light grey suit, then a navy blue bird's eye suit, then a blue plaid sport jacket, then a light blue suit for spring. I'll probably get a few more, as well. With the more recent ones I've stepped up in terms of cost, both the wool (he offers fabrics from pretty much all the Italian and English mills you hear of) and the finishing (I went with hand-stitching on the last two). All of the suits, even the entry-level ones, are fully canvassed and more robust and durable than other suits I've owned. But the hand-stitched ones feel a lot more soft and luxurious and form exceptionally well around my chest and shoulders. I've also starting ordering shirts: The first couple were okay, but Brett said he could do better and made a new set at his own expense. The new ones look fantastic. Really fair, charismatic guys who know the business, but I won't go back. This is just for their off the rack alterations, I haven't had any custom made suits or shirts. I asked for a few dress shirts to be taken in, ones that involved darts in the back. They pulled them in from the shoulders and now my sleeves are about an inch shorter. Two shirts more or less gone, that can't be fixed. I had a new suit (bought off the rack) and went to them for tailoring. I got the suit back and the legs were uneven, and the stitching where they made the adjustment at the cuffs was wobbly. A re-do cost another $60 (I got them to drop the piece a bit). I was already into them for nearly half the cost of the suit itself. My advice would be to try a custom job, where at least alterations are complimentary for the first year. Skip the store bought stuff with these guys. For the price, it's all just a bit too sloppy for me. read more

The lack of communication is shocking given the amount of money that a customer spends on the clothing. I paid for a custom shirt over 4 months ago. I have yet to receive the shirt, receive any information regarding whether it will be finished, or received a refund. I have sent several emails, left voice mails, posted on social media. While Brett was entirely pleasant in person, there is a distinct lack of concern or responsiveness to the fact that 4 MONTHS should not be how long it takes to get a shirt completed. read more

I first started going to the tailored man in around 2010. The work I have had there are: 2 suits made from scratch, 4 pairs of pants made from scratch, 10-15 shirts made from scratch, and 3 items altered that were not made there. Pros: - Convenient location with free parking; - High quality fabrics; - Good craftsmanship, which they do stand behind; - Good referral program. Cons: - I wish he listened to what I wanted; a couple times he has steered me away from what I wanted and I have been left disappointed because the final product just wasn't what I wanted; - Prices have increased significantly in recent years (at least 80% more on everything); - The items altered were not changed enough to where I could wear them, which I wish he told me up front (saying something along the lines of... it's just not going to look the way you want, although maybe this one is my fault for having unrealistic expectations). read more

Tailored Man makes great custom suits, and I highly recommend them. They've made for me two suits, including my three-piece Kerry Knoll wool-silk wedding suit (in record time). They've also made for me a Holland & Sherry summer-weight wool sportcoat as well as various odd trousers and dress shirts. I've generally been quite happy with the fit and feel of the custom garments. One major advantage they have over many other custom suitmakers is Ms. Gloria, their in-house tailor at the Tyson's Corner shop. She is the daughter of a Korean bespoke tailor, and she's excellent at alterations, especially hard ones. Whenever you need any further alteration to your custom garment, owner Sanjay Daswani and Ms. Gloria both scrutinize your clothing on you and work with you to agree on necessary alterations. In contrast, most MTM shops don't even have am in-house tailor to do alterations, but rather outsource their alterations to third-party tailors, which can be very hit-or-miss. Another plus is the owner, Sanjay, who is knowledgeable and is fantastic in educating and communicating with customers. In my experience, he really goes above and beyond. read more
