    Pork Dumplings (6)
    Lynn N.

I came here with a friend for lunch, and unfortunately we did not get the best service nor food. We were immediately seated as the space was empty, and placed our order soon after. The Ma Jiang Mian came quick, but it lacked flavor and the chicken was dry. The sauce did not add much, and I expected more. We also ordered pork dumplings, but it took about twenty five minutes to come out. Insanely long considering we were the only customers at that time. The dumplings were good, overall. The server also took a while to get our bill, and we had to call him over multiple times.

It was a decent spot, had more tables than I expected and the food was pretty good. It's a bit out of the way to go often unless you're already in the upper west side, but the food was tasty. I especially enjoyed the oxtail soup, the meat came right off the bones with no effort and the broth was flavorful. The texture of the thin noodles I asked for still had some chew which was great.

Upscale restaurant with classic Chinese dishes. While slightly cramped, it's got more seating than expected; not ideal for parties but fine for a date night. We didn't have to wait for a seat, even without a reservation. Prices vary from $10-25 for appetizers and entrees, respectively. Ordered the beef braised noodles, cucumber salad, chicken wings, and mashed potato rice noodle. Everything seemed slightly elevated and looked great. Wings and cucumber salad weren't bad but also nothing special. I liked the beef braised noodles; the meat was tender and the broth was subtle, though a bit too unctuous. The mashed rice noodle was surprisingly good, though I'm not sure I'd ever order it again. Everything was on the spicy side, as a warning. Though I'm not sure if I'd come back, I would recommend giving this place a try. The "wok hay" is real here.

Such an amazing place! Came here for dinner and the server was sooo sweet and attentive. We started with the dumplings in chili oil which were delicious. I got the beef soup noodles and the beef literally melted in my mouth. My boyfriend got the drunken noodles and that was equally as amazing. Super huge portions and decent prices too. Then we shared the sizzling noodles and they were amazing too! Seriously no misses. We then ended with the minion custard buns and we agreed it was one of the best desserts we had in a long time. Really loved this place and would love to come back to try some of the other dishes!

Came by on a summer weeknight. Was a pretty calm & welcoming space. Staff was attentive so no complaints there. Food was delicious! The dessert surprised me. I'm not usually a sweets person but this was great. Can't wait to come back!

The Tang is a cozy, contemporary eatery serving creative Chinese noodles and other classic plates on the Upper West Side. It's nice for a date or dinner with a friend. We had such a great meal from the Braised Beef Noodle Soup to the Zhong Dumplings and Tang's Bliss Chicken Wings... So delicious!!

We found the Tang on Pulsd and HOLY MOLY! We've gone at least 10 times in the last 2 months. The food, service, ambiance - simply outstanding. The chicken noodle soup and Dan Dan are our go to and I could literally eat here every day.

First Impressions- found this spot on yelp with the hubby and spontaneously changed our minds from take out to eating out. Glad we did because this spot is super cute. Loved the bar seating with the glass front that allowed us views of the kitchen. I always love watching food being prepared... and bonus is we got to see how how clean and orderly the kitchen is. Always a plus since a well kept kitchen means less chance of food poisoning! The Noms: Boneless chicken thighs - served cold... but I didn't see it noted in the menu, the hubby and I expected it to be hot so it was a bit disappointing Fried pork and chive dumplings - delicious, but same as we can make at home so nothing to write home about, the chili oil that it came with mixed with soy sauce made these dumpling FIRE though! Dan Dan noodles - maybe I'm used to the Dan Dan noodles from Han Dynasty... so I was a little disappointed that these were a bit on the dry side. In Conclusion - this is a lovely spot, good for a first date since views of the kitchen will provide good conversation starters. Some of our neighboring diners ordered some bomb looking food so I'd be down to try this spot again in the future.

Come to once because saw some good reviews. But it's a not real Chinese food,it's America style Chinese food. I order two dish, one is cold noodle. It's so disappointing, super dry and hard. And Tasteless. I order another one is call Sichuan spicy chicken, it's a in big plate section, but it's not big enough. The chicken is small and dry and more like popcorn chicken.never come back.

Stir-fried Chinese Chive with Pork 台式苍蝇头 $19

I was lucky enough to be treated here by a friend for dinner. We got a whole bunch of things, but my favorites were the apple sidra (this was basically like an apple soda) and the Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Petai (this was essentially a beef chow fun). Everything else was kind of mid. The braised beef noodle soup was too salty and the stir fried Chinese chives with pork was NOT at all like what I expected we'd get lol. The latter probably would've been better paired with white rice, which my friend took leftovers home to probably pair it with. Service was really good, but overall I don't see myself coming here often. Perhaps I would order the stir fried rice noodles for online delivery, but not sure I would come back unless maybe my Chinese parents were visiting and I needed a close ish Chinese restaurant lol. Then this will do!

The Tang serves a variety of contemporary Chinese food including noodle soups and tasty plates like tiger prawns and dumplings. Vibe is very nice too, great for a catchup with a friend. We ordered: Braised beef noodle soup Drunk noodles Fried tiger prawn w/ salted egg yolk Salt + pepper pork ribs Pork dumplings in chili oil Yuzu beer Plum apple wine My favorites of all the dishes were the jumbo salted egg prawns - so juicy and so much flavor! The drunk noodles had a half-soup broth that was worth getting again. This whole meal was honestly so comforting :)

They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. It was a cheesecake mousse with lemon curd in the middle~ so pretty and tasty! Service was top tier! I'd recommend coming here for the vibes!

Came here with two other friends for dinner and we pigged out. We started off with Scallion Pancake with Shredded Duck ($15), which tasted amazing. The pancake was flaky and not overly soaked in oil, while the duck meat enhanced the taste. I think everything should order this for the table. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles w Minced Pork ($8), which is a staple dish in Sichuan cuisine. Make sure you stir the bowl to mix the sauce and minced pork. For veggies, we got the Sautéed Green Beans With Eggplant ($18), which tasted great. I usually get sautéed pea shoots for a veggie dish, but this was worth ordering as the eggplant tasted great along with the green beans. For entrees, we got the Spicy Green Pepper Fish Filet ($28 for filet). A classic Cantonese dish that comes with bok choy, so it turns out I didn't really need to order a veggie dish. Delicious. We also tried the OOHU Mao Xue Wang ($34), which may be one of the most spiciest dish available on the menu. This dish combines blood curd from a duck, tripe, and chicken gizzards along with other organs into a simmered broth containing chilis and peppercorns. They also use spam, vermicelli noodles, mushroom, and other things. If you're adventurous and you like spicy, I would recommend this. Best eaten with a cup of rice. Service is great as our server made good recommends and was overall friendly. They also have a party room you can book, which sounded pretty affordable. We ordered multiple dishes which came out one after the other. Some of the standouts for me were the Pork Intestine Dry Pot ($20.95), Crispy Tofu with Salty Egg Yolk ($23.95), and Sauteed String Beans ($16.95). Many spicy food options since this is a Szechuan spot afterall. Some dishes were a bit too salty and spicy, which they did discount after we brought it to their attention. Overall, decent spot and good for large groups. Otherwise, I didn't find this spot to be too memorable (not bad, not great).

I really liked the scallion pancake and eggplant. The pancake wasn't crispy/dry, but rather the exterior was crisp and the inside was still a little soft/fluffy. It's the first time I had a scallion pancake that wasn't just straight dough inside/outside, or so thin that it got crisped out. I really liked this texture profile though. The eggplant was 10/10; the eggplant was cooked well, so tender but not soggy. The sauce was really good too such that it was sufficient spice but not flaming. Would recommended. I enjoyed the cucumber salad and tofu as well, but have had better. Seasoning and prep were good though -- although the tofu was cooked so tender (or maybe was silken tofu to begin with) that the whole table was struggling with carrying it from plate to mouth -- heh. Food came out very quickly; staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Decent amount of seating with a cozy vibe. It was a good meal, not my favorite Szechuan spot, but definitely hit the spot.
